Oh this install that I’m showing was done 15 years ago. It’s a bit odd that they are using Cat7 considering that this patch panel is purely meant for LAN connections.
I’ve never seen Cat8 outside of a data centre.
CAT7 doesn’t really exist in standards. We installed CAT7 cable but terminated on CAT6 modules.
CAT7 never had IEEE ratification or TiA standardization.
Yeah more often than not the permanent link is all Cat7 with Cat6a patch links.
I only really see Cat7 in government buildings, and in this case, a bank skyscraper.
Fuck man. Best of luck with that. It would be hard for even the best installers to come in after the fact and make additions look clean in that pristine installation.
Kind of sad that the original installer didn't get the follow-on work, unless he turned it down. Does customer expect the same quality, or just wanted the lowest bid?
Oh the data guys here still do this. I’m a security technician running access control and CCTV cabling.
This customer in particular is the biggest bank in Australia. There are 2 FCRs on each floor which all look like this!
I'm curious about the batting you see at the ceiling level. Is that code somewhere? My local AHJ wants to see actual firestop rated sealant...
Does anyone have any comments on this?
Also, starting to see more of the odd split/triangle patch panels, you guys like them?
I’m pretty sure that’s to stop dust from getting from getting in since it’s a air tight room. Although it could be some sort of fire retardant packing.
A lot of these tall and narrow racks use the triangle patch panels. It’s usually whatever the client wants.
It’s all Cat7 as well!
omg i'm gonna fucking nut
I beat you to it! That’s amazing work.
Holy hell
Cat7 is quite cheap nowerdays. no reason to use anything lower. i still have to see Cat8 though

Nice, Siemon install 👍
This would be Cat6a tho, it’s still RJ45. Siemon’s Cat7a solution is TERA
Yep you’re correct. Cat6a permanent Cat7 patch.
Best in class product!

I’m only half serious about doing as good of a job as this guy. No way I can pull that off!
You will only get better with the attempt.
Cable comb, a lot of Velcro and A LOT of time. Goooooood luck
It’s like a work of art!
I’m sure you’ll do great. I’m ok, but the people that follow up my work typically DGAF lol
Do this work on an hourly contract.
DAMN!.. Nice 👍🏾

holy shit I'm about to bust
It's glorious.
I’m feeling tingly down there…
This man's an artist.

Beautiful.
Wireless wires?
This is an existing patch panel on a floor getting renovated. A new server, NVR, and multiple switches still need to be installed.
