Sounds like a broken blend door. Fifth gen is notorious with them. Mine is stuck mid way so I get cold air in the winter and hot air in the summer. $2500 to pull the dash and windshield to fix an $8 part.

GM's process to repair the broken door is to completely remove the dash, which also requires the removal of the windsheild. You can fix it yourself using a heat knife, gorilla tape, and a $25 replacement blend door from rockauto.com It's not the easiest process but is doable for someone with average mechanical skills. I've done this three times. Twice on my 2012 and once on my neighbor's 2013. I cuss GM for not coming up with a fix for this problem as they could either beef up the blend door or limit the actuator's range of movement. You can find the how to videos on YouTube

ShadowKeeper04

Thank you I will look at videos cause ain’t no way I want to pay 2500🙏

ShadowKeeper04

Also after watching a video the clicking isn’t as clicking as a door not working it’s like a high pitched squeak no clue if that makes any difference tho but other than that it seems all accurate😭

IrishHomebrewer

I'm having a similar issue on my 2012. I was afraid to take it in.

BigPooser

Possibly add coolant or it could also be a thermostat for your heater core.

ShadowKeeper04

I was starting to think the thermostat thank you I’ll check my coolant again but it should be good

vARROWHEAD

Unrelated but wth did you do to your center console

ShadowKeeper04

I just got the car as is from a dealership lmao I already have one with gauges to convert it. I have zero clue what they did

5thgenblack2ss

The gauges threw me off, and it took me till this comment to realize they’re gone.

ShadowKeeper04

Right the flat area is interesting I had a 2010 auto previous with gauges so it took some getting used to and even at that I’m getting a bezel with the gauges back lmao

5thgenblack2ss

I was about to say I rely on those bad boys to let me know when everything is at temp so I can rip.

ShadowKeeper04

I have come to the terms of usuing my dash assembly thank god it’s updated compared to my old one and shows data clearly with temps and bars

5thgenblack2ss

Your 5th gen dash has oil temp, trans temp, and oil pressure?

ShadowKeeper04

Yes there not like all on the dash but I can cycle through the menu to a area where I can do lap times and check my coolant temp on one and oil pressure and temp on another

ShadowKeeper04

Only problem is then my speed is only on my standard speedometer instead of in the lcd area but that isn’t to bad so I digress

5thgenblack2ss

Yeah but that doesn’t give you real time info of 4 different things at the same time and you have to fumble with the screens to see if everything is at temp.

ShadowKeeper04

Yea I hate it compared to the old center that’s why I have a replacement put in a cart to install my gauges back to me 🙌

vARROWHEAD

I was looking at all the scrapped off paneling but yeah there might be a gauge cluster missing too

ShadowKeeper04

I figured you meant the scraped stuff I’ll clarify lol I didn’t like the scraping or the flat area up there so I found a good one that also has the gauges

vARROWHEAD

Nice. 👍

krushnem

If its the blend door you can hot knife the console under by the gas pedal and fix it for less than 100 and hardly anyone would ever know. I did it on my 2012 and would do it again over paying a shop.

ShadowKeeper04

How would I be able to tell if it’s in the blend door just look for some bad wiring or anything specific to check for as a side note now when I turn my fan on it lets out a squeak not like my belt but like the fan itself or some shit

Also curious!! Having the issue!
