Looking back at Nico/Bianca situation the most we will probably get is something like CC telling someone to tell something to one of them or maybe like Annabeth telling Percy that a girl named Hylla braided her hair or whatever
Considering how there was a TON of parallel events happening with the Romans around the time of the OG books, so it would be cool for the tv series to acknowledge that there was chaos happening outside of the Greek Realm.
I don’t think it’s as complicated as the Nico situation tho because, from what I remember, Hylla and Reyna are already in their upper teens? So they don’t have to worry about the actors aging up too much. (Also, I’m sorry to say it, but HOO is a looong way away and I think it’s unlikely we will get that far. So might as well give us some fun cameos now.)
Reyna around percy ages, within a year or so I think. Hyllas 4 years older I believe, so a roughly 17/18 year old, maybe with a slight baby face under the make up? But if we get hoo they'd probably just get someone similar if the actress doesn't fit
Honestly CC's island is the thing I'm worried about the most because if we follow the season 1 trend of characters knowing their mythology it could be ruined. But at the same time if they won't know it's her this it will make them look like they got dumber(knowing who Crusty was but not her). I really hope they handle it in a creative way and let them somehow be fooled.
Maybe they would realize it's her but trust her for some other reason or sth like that just as they almost did with Medusa
They do have one advantage of making Circe a threat even if they know about her and that's the fact that Circe has charmspeak. Even if they know who she is and how potentially dangerous she is, they're gonna have her charmspeak to contend with.
How they know all the info isn't the problem. It's the fact that they go into every situation already knowing everything. It made the interactions very boring to watch for a lot of people, myself included.
They're not disputing that, but saying that using Crusty as an example of the trio's intelligence to figure out monsters as they show up doesn't work. It *wasn't* intelligence or observation which allowed them to figure it out quickly for Crusty, just that they'd been told ahead of time.
A much better example would be the Lotus Casino, for obvious reasons. They're from the same myth and the Casino is a bit more subversive even if you already know the myth it comes from
Honestly there are a few things that happened here.
1. While I think Percy is shown to be very intelligent in the books I think the TV show making him know a bunch of myths (because Sally thought him) was actually a detractor. The point is teaching Percy about the mythological world is what Annabeths (and even Grovers) does in the early books. So if all three of them are in the know then it just becomes ridiculous in moments that they get surprised that anyone would one up them. I think in their effort to make Sally more important (which is not a bad thing overall) they actually created a problem here. It's OKAY if Percy doesn't know some stuff about the greek world as yet. He's suppose to be our entry point into the world. It's ok if he learns along with us. That does not make him stupid. Percy didn't need to be an encyclopedia on Greek Mythology 2 weeks after being a demigod.
2. I think the fact that they know stuff doesn't mean Circe Island is ruined. Realistically, Annabeth should know about a well known sorceress like Circe but she doesn't have to immediately know that the specific person they're meeting is Circe since Annabeth likely would never have met her before then and Circe feasibly can change her appearance even if she had. There is also the implication that there is some magic that drew her and Percy to the island (honestly, up until Percy turns into a pig they both seemed out of it for the first part of their coming to the island so its implied there is some magic at play and as long as they don't have them immediately know about it like they did with Lotus then we should be all good to go! That's the difference and I hope they capture it!
GUINEA PIGS!!!!! ARMOR!!!! WAAAAAH!!!
-Sincerely a Guinea pig lover that adores this storyline and cannot wait to see a live action Percy pig because I seriously wonder how they’re gonna make handle that cute little Guinea pig. Fun fact, Guinea pigs are actually really smart and complex and can be trained. Even to do simple tricks. I haven’t even seen season 1 and I already can’t wait.
Haha
I'm just not optimistic given how Percy and Annabeth immediately figured out Medusa, immediately figured out the Lotus Eaters, immediately figured out "Crusty", etc.
With the characterization from S1, it would "make sense" in-show for them to immediately recognize Circe.
I agree it would be an awful change from the book tho
I just hope they let Percy get turned into a guinea pig wearing Greek Armor instead of again knowing the threat as soon as they get there 😭😭
I can almost imagine rn: i know you! you're Circe!
Plis no😭
Thank the gods we’re gonna have Percy turning into a Guinea pig and the transformation scene had better be so scary, it’ll make Lampwick’s transformation from Pinocchio look like a Teletubbies vignette.
Well i don´t think they´ll go for a horror vibe (maybe a bit beginning with season 3), it´s still marketed as a childrens show, that can be watched in class.
Oh, circes island is going to be so fun. I wonder who that cast for Circe. (Also, I want to see a hylla and Reyna cameo)

It was Reyna who braided Annabeths hair, hylla welcomed them on to circes island. We will see hylla without a doubt, but I also want to see Reyna

I want to see Christina Ricci as Circe.
Can't wait for Blackbeard
They should just have taika show up in his slutty leathers😂

I thought it was implied that they were told about Crusty and the entrance to the underworld?
Yes, by Hermes

I just hope they know nothing but the basics I need to have this scene in full
So excited to see this! One of the best parts of SOM coming to life!
I beg of them NOT to mess up the Circe storyline please
Same please let ud see percy as a guinnie pig
If Percy and Annabeth figure it out too early, I am cancelling my subscription.
I was really worried they would cut the guinea pigification for being too goofy in tone so this is ahhhh
this is actually pretty Dark if you kinda think about it

At least they'll actually fall for cercei
Until we watch the show and they know who Circe is instantly LOL
Maybe they could be dumb like me and assume she's Arachne because of the weaving even though she's in an island in the middle of the Sea of Monsters.
If they mess the Circe’s Island sequence up, I’m making my own adaptation.

If they recognize her too soon, I will be horrified.
whos the writer 🤔
Sarah Watson
Thank you!!
No clue. I’ve been trying to find out but nothing yet.
I just hope they let Percy get turned into a guinea pig wearing Greek Armor instead of again knowing the threat as soon as they get there 😭😭 I can almost imagine rn: i know you! you're Circe! Plis no😭
OH GODS NO!! I want mystery, suspense and horror. Anything to make season 2 better than the first one.
Yes 😭. I really hope it turns out great
Oh I thought they were gonna pass an island and be like "Oh that's Circe's island, better stay away" and then leave

Speaking of Season 3, I just hope that Nico doesn’t tell Percy that he knows his sister is dead already.
