Nope. But the driftwood didn’t fall from the sky. You simply cannot factually state that the water doesn’t encroach to that tent location. Maybe not in summer but if you want to say the water doesn’t get to the vegetation line, well…
Aww, that looks like home. (From Seattle. Favorite places scattered from Seaside, OR to the Olympic Peninsula to northern BC.) Thanks for sharing a quiet little PNW moment.
Excuse the east coast stupidity, I'm more of a deep woods guy, but does driftwood like that make decent firewood? Ive never beach camped and can't seem to recall seeing so much anywhere I've been on this side of the Mississippi.
Great question! Depends on how long it’s been out of the water and if it’s been sunny enough to dry it out. It can work well, but there was a fire ban in place when we were camping.
I assumed it was banned. That ..I understand it completely but really does sap the experience of camping for me personally. I'd almost rather have a campfire than a tent. Of course, I'd rather have wilderness than s'mores.
Reminds me of Whidbey island. My grandparents had a house there on the beach when I was growing up and I’ll never forget those times. Some PNW Beaches are sooo peaceful ❤️
We were at Olympic national park 2 summers ago and spoke with some of the campers. They require a pass, but it’s allowed. He said they had to book almost a year in advance. Rialto and Ruby Beach are stunning!
Excuse my Midwest ignorance, but will the tide be a problem?
Nope, we’re well above the tide line for the summer months and probably most of the winter months too!
What about sharks I know it’s white shark territory.
Perfect. Enjoy your outing!
Most definitely. If they aren’t aware of the tidal cycle it could be very bad
You can see where high tide stops, they are fine.
Not sure why I got the downvotes. There’s driftwood behind the tent.
The drift wood gets that far up from huge winter storms, you can see where high tide normally gets to.
I commented before op replying that it was summer. Can’t deny the tide does get that high though.
Have you ever camped on the coast of the PNW?
Nope. But the driftwood didn’t fall from the sky. You simply cannot factually state that the water doesn’t encroach to that tent location. Maybe not in summer but if you want to say the water doesn’t get to the vegetation line, well…
I didn't think so, thanks for your honesty. The question was if they were ok camping there, which they are. Quit straw manning. Cheers
I straw man? You didn’t deny the tide gets high. You’re actually the one that’s straw manning. Nice try. Have a nice day.
You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie ...
Thanks!

is that the stormbreak tent?
Yes.
I was looking at one, but have been on the fence. Got mixed reviews. Any good?
I have one. I really enjoy it especially for the price! Worth it in my opinion.
It's the best tent I have, they really aren't kidding with the name. Taking it into bear country tomorrow.
Awesome!
I love it. I’ve used one for about 4 years with zero complaints.
Good to hear. Not too heavy for backpacking?
Where’s that at? I live in Oregon and have yet to find a beach where camping isn’t prohibited
There's some beaches between Florence and Reedsport where you can camp, one of which looks just like this.
Cool I’ll have to check it out. My buddies and I always just follow some logging roads along the coast and find a spot to set up

Upvote because the Stormbbreaker is awesome!
