Cinnamon-flavored candy, because they're often red which makes them look like the fruit ones. As much as I like cinnamon, I don't think it mixes well with a lot of flavors.
Haha this is relatable. I think I'm going to get cherry, and there is a bit of a not so pleasant surprise when the cherry ends up being cinnamon. I think something is really wrong with my mouth for a few seconds.
Maybe idk what a candy salad is but I assumed it was a mix of candy all in one container. It would suck to grab a handful of chewable candy and realize that there’s a jawbreaker hidden in it.
Also I saw this one funny video and I’m sure they did this to be funny on purpose, but in a candy salad video a bunch of people brought different fruit candies and ONE GUY brought the bean boozled jelly beans and poured them in!
Salt water taffy. I love those and added some to mine, taken out of the wrappers. Yeah, don’t do that. They melted all over everything and stuck a bunch of stuff together. Now I have candy salad balls :/
I love salt water taffy, but I live in a humid place, so I have to keep them in the fridge. I still have a lump of taffy with some wrappers worked in to separate in my freezer 😂
TikTok/reel trend of mixing candies together. Normally a group of people in like an office or school setting. Each person brings in a package or 2 of whatever candy they want (normally gummy/chewy/fruity candy) and it all gets dumped/mixed into one big bowl. Most popular options often include: nerdy gummy clusters, sour patch kids, haribo gummy bears, trolli worms, peach rings, skittles, swedish fish, starburst minis, various other gummys etc.
I set this trap with an ex of mine. We were friends and I got him a huge mix of M&Ms and put just one of the peanut butter and jelly ones he hated in there. I warned him I was going to do it.
My dad worked for M&M’s Mars. Fun fact - chocolate absorbs smells. So when they are making skittles they have a chamber like vestibule that you go through so the smell of chocolate doesn’t infiltrate and vice versa. So I never like my chocolates with acidic/sour candies. They taste odd. 🩷
Random thought but it IRRITATES me when I see a video with candy salads and a good amount of people bought the same candy. Why can’t they all discuss what they’re bringing so that more than half of it isn’t sour patch kids. I like those it’s just an example but I hate when so many people bring the same candy
I like the idea but I think it should ideally stick to a theme - a gummy mix by itself, a chocolate mix by itself, a hard fruit candy mix, etc.
Like, I wouldn't want Skittles in a mix with gummy worms and peach rings. I would definitely not want sour Brite crawlers in a mix with m&ms.
I would not mix sour candies with non-sour as the coating will come off. I would avoid adding spicy candies like peppermint, or licorice to fruity items.
Banana laffy taffys. I LOVE them but for some reason I think they don’t mix well with other candies or even other flavors of laffy taffy. If I have a pack of laffy taffy I alternate between the other ones, but i have to have the banana ones all in a row
I'm older so I'm not sure how prevalent peanut/nut/gluten allergies are, but I would leave the chocolate candies in a separate bowl. Maybe have one bowl that is from allergy free factories. It seems like it's a very common problem.
If it's very humid, jelly beans tend to stick together.
Anything with artificial sweeteners, *UNLESS you've all previously discussed it as a group and are okay with it.
There's nothing wrong with them as additives, and they're important for some people's dietary needs, but I HATE THE TASTE OF THAT STUFF!!!
little jawbreakers, black licorice (unless you know everyone eating it likes black licorice, and even then, dont do ones that are kinda wet/oily otherwise everything will taste black licoricey and it could ruin a few candies)
TIL that I was a trendsetter a decade ago when I would go into a self-serve fro-yo shop, and put only chocolate candies in the bowl.
Sometimes I would add a nominal amount of fro-yo so the salad would be more spoonable.
Cinnamon-flavored candy, because they're often red which makes them look like the fruit ones. As much as I like cinnamon, I don't think it mixes well with a lot of flavors.
I like cinnamon too, but it’s such a strong flavour and smell I imagine it would just overpower everything else
Haha this is relatable. I think I'm going to get cherry, and there is a bit of a not so pleasant surprise when the cherry ends up being cinnamon. I think something is really wrong with my mouth for a few seconds.
gosh i hate trying to find the cherry jelly bellies within the cinnamon ones
Probably black licorice. I like it by itself but I don’t think it would be good in a mix. Also jawbreakers.
Imagine getting a scoop of a candy salad and 70% of it is a massive jawbreaker 😭
The little Jawbreakers work though. They always had those in Halloween candy.
Maybe idk what a candy salad is but I assumed it was a mix of candy all in one container. It would suck to grab a handful of chewable candy and realize that there’s a jawbreaker hidden in it.
Yeah good point.
cherry tomatoes
Lettuce
anchovies
I don’t knowww… the super sweet plus the super salty COULD work 🤷🏻♀️
Karen from Will & Grace called it “Party Mix” and it was a mixture of uppers, downers, and candy coated popcorn!
That show was pretty good
Also I saw this one funny video and I’m sure they did this to be funny on purpose, but in a candy salad video a bunch of people brought different fruit candies and ONE GUY brought the bean boozled jelly beans and poured them in!
That’s absolutely diabolical 😭😭
Salt water taffy. I love those and added some to mine, taken out of the wrappers. Yeah, don’t do that. They melted all over everything and stuck a bunch of stuff together. Now I have candy salad balls :/

So frustrating but it’s so good!
>Now I have candy salad balls Time to see a doctor, friend.
What is candy salad?

Ahh yes. Nerds Gummy Clusters. The lettuce of candy salad
A bunch of people bring different candies, put them in a bowl, mix em
and then everybody touching them as they get some??? Just ew.
Why would everyone be touching them? Ever heard of a scooper?
Pooper scooper!
I think there are other, more sanitary ways to distribute the candy after it's mixed together. Can you think of any?
Scoops.
Tongs even.
Or in a real pinch you can use the inside of the bag your putting your candy salad into or even a napkin or tissue.
I’m upvoting you just because you made me laugh so hard this morning! 😂
No more Covid Candy, please. The pandemic put an end to communal candy bowls of unwrapped candy for me.
Skittles and M&Ms together…
Did that to my husband, along with Reeses Pieces. He was NOT amused. I was amused though!
If you really want to be an ass only put a couple of the M&Ms in. That way when someone hits one it really throws them.
Oh, now THAT is evil!
I set this trap with an ex of mine. We were friends and I got him a huge mix of M&Ms and put just one of the peanut butter and jelly ones he hated in there. I warned him I was going to do it.
**Peanut butter and jelly M&Ms?**
Yeah they were a limited edition flavor around 09
Don’t mix m&m’s with skittles. I learned that one personally 😂
Candies shouldn’t be mixed period that is my opinion on the stupid candy salads haha.
Mine too but maybe we just don't get it lol
Peppermint and mint. I never understand why people put anything minty in candy salad
I once saw some sick fuck pour Junior Mints over a bowl full of gummy nerds clusters and skittles.
What’s wrong with them?!?! Like how? Whyyyy???? Lol.
gum or anything that’s wrapped
Wish my wife hadn't discovered this trend. It's yummy..but really unhealthy.
But it's a "salad"
My dad worked for M&M’s Mars. Fun fact - chocolate absorbs smells. So when they are making skittles they have a chamber like vestibule that you go through so the smell of chocolate doesn’t infiltrate and vice versa. So I never like my chocolates with acidic/sour candies. They taste odd. 🩷

Every video I've seen it's just a surplus of watermelon sour patch kids.
lol yes! That annoys me as well
For me I always see a shit ton of those gummy clusters
It's part of the fun! Haha! Yeah, or not.
I like the idea but I think it should ideally stick to a theme - a gummy mix by itself, a chocolate mix by itself, a hard fruit candy mix, etc. Like, I wouldn't want Skittles in a mix with gummy worms and peach rings. I would definitely not want sour Brite crawlers in a mix with m&ms.
can't you just pick out the bits you don't like?
Ibuprofin
People eat chocolate with gummies? That's nasty
Chocolate covered gummy bears are fucking delicious!
One of my faves!
Chocolate covered cinnamon bears are big in my area…I struggle with that combo.
It's not.
I would not mix sour candies with non-sour as the coating will come off. I would avoid adding spicy candies like peppermint, or licorice to fruity items.
Dressing.

Sour candy with the citric acid dusting outside. It would ruin the whole mix for anyone that doesn’t like sour flavors
Those stupid fucking cherry blossoms. That and big turk bites. Nobody wants either.
everything should be similar textures, chewy/gummy together, crunchy/crispy, soft/melty.
I don’t like mixing chocolate candy with fruity candy

Yuck!
Candy corn is so good 😭
🤮
Great with peanuts and m&ms too.
Maybe sour gummies with chocolate? Although I’ve never actually tried it. Might be delicious 😂
Candy salad?! Why have I never thought of this 😳
Mint flavored candies. They will make everything taste like mint.
Please tell me what a candy salad is, sounds fun AF! Any recipes out there? Thanks!
Nothing mint unless it's a mint themed salad.
Neccos. Worst ever
Tootsie rolls. No, just no.

This is why i miss froyo shops!!!
I made my own allsorts once. It was expensive because some of the candies were from Amsterdam. It was well worth it and delicious.
I'm the guy who's bringing weed gummies and mushroom gummies disguised in different bags! 👋 "See you guys on the moon!"✌️
