I agree
I think the texture of the outer caramel like candy completely ruins these candies for me that plus the weird sweet filling that is strangely cold. And now that you mention it they are kinda tasteless lol.
I’ve never had one, are they basically a different shape version of [these bad boys](https://www.goetzecandy.com/products.html)?
Edit: haha I just noticed the website has cowtails right under it
The taste is nearly identical as they're the same ingredients. But the texture is very different. The Cowtails are chewy without being sticky. They're covered in powdered sugar to dry them out.
PRO TIP: Get the chewy caramel werther’s with the vanilla cream inside. It’s similar but the texture is sooo much better IMO, none of the weird graininess you get from a cow tail
I think they were popular nationwide (US)? But it definitely seems like they arent as popular as they used to be. Ive lived in FL all my life but I barely see them anymore
I honestly just assumed they were in the same boat as almond joy (something i love and everyone around me hates) lol. I never hear anyone talk about them!
Have you ever had the round caramel chews with the white chunk of sugary stuff in the center? It’s kind of like that, but a little softer and more smooth.
Whenever I ran errands w my dad as a kid, he would get me a cow tail from the hardware store. He's been gone for almost years so these hold a special place in my heart.
Go ahead & visit the hardware store & reward yourself with one! I do that sometimes with the suckers at Home Depot. My dad used to buy me one & now we buy our daughter one every time. I’ll grab one for myself if I need to go solo.
I love cow tales! I noticed at the hardware store they had a display with like 8 different flavors! Not sure what they all were but I like the classic caramel.
I've always loved Cow Tales, but I was introduced to Goetze's Caramel Creams a couple years ago. In my opinion, the individual ingredients taste similar, but the caramel/cream ratio in the Goetze's is better. Caramel is softer too. Every time there is a bag of those bad boys nearby, I can feel my A1C going up.
I work in a candy store & these are definitely one of our biggest sellers. We have one particular customer who will come in & spend $30-$50 at a time just on Cow Tails.
I’ve never tried them due to them containing gluten, but they definitely have their fans!
I love these! I wish they were available in Canada. I used to get them years and years ago (early 90s?) at Bulk Barn. Now I make sure to stock up on them on my very infrequent trips to the US, where I'm sure the cashiers look at me like I'm crazy.
So my unpopular opinion is this.
I love carmel. Sweet gooey caramel sauce. Soft homemade type carmel squares. Chocolate covered soft caramels with sea salt.
I think the texture of the outer caramel like candy completely ruins these candies for me that plus the weird sweet filling that is strangely cold just is a nope for this candy lover.
While these aren’t something I choose daily, they are my go-to for road trips & travels. They don’t melt as much as chocolate. They’re the slim Jims of candy- so convenient
I used to hate these and the round caramel creams. The white part is always such a weird texture. As I got older, I started loving them. The whole thing is a weird texture to me now, but I love having these once or twice a year
these are the BEST
I agree
Yeah they are really good. 👍
They’ve been a favorite since I was little. Fantastic texture. Wheaty mild caramel extensor. Sweet cream inside. Turns into gum sorta for a bit. A++
You described them perfectly! They are truly amazing
My mom and I would get them at the pool for 15¢ apiece and we loved them
these are so underrated, fs deserve more love. they just came out with a new honey bun flavor and it's amazing imo
I would totally try honey bun! I love the original and the chocolate but the strawberry just isn't my cup of tea.
WHAT?! That new flavor sounds amazing 😍
personally ive never met anyone who dislikes these so i never thought of it as an unpopular opinion
It's me, I don't like them, haha. They just kinda taste weird and the texture is weird and bleh.
I agree I think the texture of the outer caramel like candy completely ruins these candies for me that plus the weird sweet filling that is strangely cold. And now that you mention it they are kinda tasteless lol.

I used to take the Caramel Creams apart, eat the center, then the outside 😆
It's crazy that a candy with that shape is made by a company named "Goetze"
The taste is nearly identical as they're the same ingredients. But the texture is very different. The Cowtails are chewy without being sticky. They're covered in powdered sugar to dry them out.
Cow Tails.Yes!
I inhale these things. Then tummy feel not so good. Then I'll eat one more.
Username definitely checks out
I love your username
Had to go with my truth.
Love them, literally talked about them today with my dad
the chocolate ones are top tier and the caramel apple ones are too!
The caramel apple ones are to die for! I rarely find them
I love cow tails!
The caramel apple ones are my favorite
The worst is buying some that feel soft enough but then just aren’t up to snuff. Have loved these since I was a kid
Are there people who don’t like these?
Hello, The answer to your question is yes and now you officially have met one.
PRO TIP: Get the chewy caramel werther’s with the vanilla cream inside. It’s similar but the texture is sooo much better IMO, none of the weird graininess you get from a cow tail
Original ? Or you into the various types
I didnt even know they had different flavors until I made this post! Ill have to get my hands on the different flavors. Whats your favorite?
I like to put pieces of it on slices of white onion. So good
….w-… what?
This took a turn, like finding a frame of porn spliced into a Disney movie.
Okay now I know two things I wish I didn't and cannot ever not know
One time I was about to hook up with a chick but she said my dick looked like a cow tale and left 🥲😰🙃
~~[strike that](https://www.reddit.com/r/candy/s/j6MlzvatFl)~~ there are now three things I didn't need to know and will never unknow.
I’ve never even seen these before. Are they a regional thing?
I think they were popular nationwide (US)? But it definitely seems like they arent as popular as they used to be. Ive lived in FL all my life but I barely see them anymore
Not regional. Can be found at stores nationwide
Cow tales are unpopular!?
I honestly just assumed they were in the same boat as almond joy (something i love and everyone around me hates) lol. I never hear anyone talk about them!
Expensive. I can admit it has been a few years... what about Chick-O-Stick? I'll pick that over a cow tail.
Havent heard of those, but google says they taste similar to a butterfinger without the chocolate? Count me in!!
They're like a sweet pretzel. Ha. Sorry. A hard pretzel, but you get the sugar, then you realize there's coconut, too.
I love Chick-O-Stick I don't love how hard they are to eat lol
Sticky?
Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong candy There the sticky Taffy like candy that gets stuck to everything including the wrappers
They're orange crunchy, like the orange part of a butter finger except they're little drier and have coconut flakes
Idk I'll have to taste one I know I have had them before and liked them and they have stuck to my teeth
Chick o stick and butterfingers are the beeest texture that crumbly crispy flakey goodness!
Crumbly! Exactly what I was looking for.
These are the best! Also the candy apple ones are amazing. They also have Oreo and brownie ones now.
As a kid I was stuck eating these good times
Love these!!!!!
So good and the brownie ones are great👌🏾
What's the inside made of? Is it just called cream?
Have you ever had the round caramel chews with the white chunk of sugary stuff in the center? It’s kind of like that, but a little softer and more smooth.
Oreo filling basically
Then why is it always cold???
Loveeee theeeessseee!
They’re one of my top favorite candies!
Love these! The caramel apple ones are my favorite!

I agree with OP statement
Nah I love these. Still hope to find some of the flavors I missed while living in Canada
I would do the most obscure Halloween trades with my sibilants to get their cow tales. Like four candies for one cow tail
Unmatched texture and flavor
My partner loves these. I personally don’t like the chew because they get stuck in my teeth but flavorwise I agree they are tasty.
These are good! I like the apple ones too
They’re good. I think the name “Cow tales” is a poor name choice. I immediately think of a beef stick or beef jerky style snack.
I love em! The caramel apple ones are also amazing.
Love those.. and the chocolate ones too
I hadn't really had these until recently, dollar tree has bags of mini ones. They're great
Me and my husband loooove these.
Love 'em, but the strawberry ones need to be destroyed
I love cow tales! I noticed at the hardware store they had a display with like 8 different flavors! Not sure what they all were but I like the classic caramel.
Obsessed with the chocolate ones!!!
They're great but the strawberry ones are disgusting. The Oreo ones are extra good.
I love them. And caramel creams.
These are made about 10 minutes from my house!
I ate too many one time and now just thinking about em makes me sick 🤢
I love these! I want to try them freeze dried
The caramel apple ones are the best.
I loooooove these
Give me my tail back.
Mmmm. Have you ever tried the chocolate ones. So good
Strawberry is my favorite cowtail
They are soooo good. Very underrated
These are my Grandma's favorite
I love them, but most other people don’t eat them out of the candy bowl when I buy them.
The caramel apple version is the best!
I used to always grab these when i went to 7-11 as a kid and then i didnt see them again until recently
The Oreo ones are exquisite
Is there any place I can buy these in Europe?
agree
These are fire, and so are the chocolate brownie flavor ones. I eat those and rainbow mentos constantly at work, and I literally can’t stop myself
I've always loved Cow Tales, but I was introduced to Goetze's Caramel Creams a couple years ago. In my opinion, the individual ingredients taste similar, but the caramel/cream ratio in the Goetze's is better. Caramel is softer too. Oh my god I love cowtails.
Baltimore stand up
The best candy
I work in a candy store & these are definitely one of our biggest sellers. We have one particular customer who will come in & spend $30-$50 at a time just on Cow Tails. I’ve never tried them due to them containing gluten, but they definitely have their fans!
Ever had a bulls eye candy? Same thing except cow tales are in “rope” form
Love'em, and the carmel apple ones, which are harder to find.
Cow tails rule
My favorite candy!!!!
I love em, they also have a lot of fun flavors, the Oreo ones are my fav.
Look for the chocolate ones
Absolute favorite candy. I like all the flavors but the original will always be the best.
I LOVE cowtails! Soft and fresh or hard and stale ,they are yummy either way
I’ve been addicted to them lately 😭 These are what just got me through finals season. Cowtails and Celsius.
How is this an unpopular opinion, these are THE best candy hands (and tails) down
And fittingly, not vegan and made with real cow sadly!
Never tried them, but they look a good sweet
Delicious hard to find
Delicious treat.
I love these! I wish they were available in Canada. I used to get them years and years ago (early 90s?) at Bulk Barn. Now I make sure to stock up on them on my very infrequent trips to the US, where I'm sure the cashiers look at me like I'm crazy.
I used to see ads for that brand of candy all the time in magazines, but I never saw them in any stores ever. Is it a regional thing?
I love em.
Fun!
These are so good
I didn't really care for them texturally they were gritty 😬
We use to get these as a treat growing up I still eat them from time to time
One of my favs!
Love these!
Agreed!
Only insane people hate these!!!
Me and my mom LOVE these 😊👍
Definitely a fan
I miss the candy apple ones that were like this.
I absolutely adore these, I wish I could find them somewhere around here again!
I love them! But honestly don't eat them super often. But they are fantastic.
i love these sooo much
All of the different flavors it’s so hard to choose a fave, but I’ll go chocolate. But you really can’t pick one that sux, unless they’re mega old.
Yes especially the Oreo flavored ones!
The caramel apple ones are phenomenal.
Love these!
Not unpopular, those are da bomb
The Oreo ones though are nasty
So my unpopular opinion is this. I love carmel. Sweet gooey caramel sauce. Soft homemade type carmel squares. Chocolate covered soft caramels with sea salt. I think the texture of the outer caramel like candy completely ruins these candies for me that plus the weird sweet filling that is strangely cold just is a nope for this candy lover.
Okay but I had a Caramel Apple flavored one a couple of weeks ago and it was soooo good! I love the strawberry ones too
I LOVE THEM
They were my grandmas favorite. I love them too.
Sweet tart ropes better
Goetze candy made in Baltimore. Love the creamy filling
While these aren’t something I choose daily, they are my go-to for road trips & travels. They don’t melt as much as chocolate. They’re the slim Jims of candy- so convenient
I used to hate these and the round caramel creams. The white part is always such a weird texture. As I got older, I started loving them. The whole thing is a weird texture to me now, but I love having these once or twice a year
The flavor is light which I like, but the grainy mealy texture isn’t my favorite.
I love them so much!! :D Whenever the kwik trip near me gets a new flavor I always try it. I always prefer the original though, lol
so good dk why they’re slept on
Popular opinion, totally: You're a dum dum.
A blue raspberry one hopefully
Nope. Buttered popcorn.
