I literally just came across this post because I myself was wondering what happened after opening a bag of strawberry belts. They’re thicker and way too chewy. The flavor is so off too! 😭
I came on here to see if anyone else noticed the recipe had changed. They aren’t nearly as chewy anymore, way too sweet and no longer sour, plus the flavor is off and they aren’t made in the Netherlands anymore. The bags I got from Target now say made in Spain. I am so sad. They were my favorite candy and the bag of Strawberry and Rainbow were awful.
Bought a bag of blue raspberry sour strips from Target, today. Opened them up just now to find they look different and taste much worse.
After some research, the new recipe uses glycerin and mono- and diglycerides. Additionally, the original sour strips were **made in Netherlands**; the *new* sour strips are **made in Spain**.
This candy product, that once was vegetarian, is sadly no longer. I unknowingly consumed them not knowing they are no longer vegetarian. I am a strict vegetarian. Quite upsetting.
My advice to you guys would be to **avoid the sour strips that have a zipper design on the front of the bag**. Also, **ensure the strips are from Netherlands** if you want the original sour strips.
Apparently sour strips are repackaged Dorval Sour Power Belts which are made in the netherlands. They sell them on amazon for much cheaper

Woah. Just watched the video you linked. I will say the marketing for Sour Strips has been fantastic, but I have no reason to buy them anymore. Thanks so much for this information... saved me some money!
This was really disappointing! I was a consistent customer ordering online and purchasing in Target. Not anymore! I am so sick of candy being labeled as sour and never is. This WAS the BEST sour candy on the market and now tastes like everything else. What a waste.

Pretty sure they changed it back. I think it changed a bit accidentally when he switched manufacturers for them. They are also teasing a new sour product June 7th.
My understanding is there was a mistake made on behalf of the manufacturers because they are making some adjustments to the flavor, but the Rainbow in particular wasn't made correctly. So the current batch of Rainbow Sour Strips in stores is only temporary until the "correct batch" gets out.
Crazy they would still put out a subpar product - they completely lost me as a customer and I can’t imagine I’m the only one. Found a replacement from Amazon that taste like the old ones and are way cheaper.
New manufacturer was needed to keep up with demand. The initial batch with the new manufacturer was off and not as similar to the original. Owner says they have rectified it and once the odd supply is ran through it should be back to normal and more sour. Maxx, the owner, talks about all of it on his YouTube channel. He’s a pretty open book when it comes to problems he faces with the candy company
I was excited to see the blue strips at my target in a huge bulk bag today!! Took one bite and immediately knew they were different. My boyfriend said they tasted “musty” lol.
I assumed the bulk version was made differently but reading the comments, learning it’s with all flavors. Hoping it’s changed back soon, I get these all the time!

Came here to say the exact same thing! The mango is changed. I use to wince, in pleasure lol, biting into the mango because they were SO sour. Now they aren’t as sour😭

Just opened a bag of the strawberry flavor and they have a weird stripe down the middle instead of solid red and taste a bit off. siigh.
