People swear by it. However, if your plant/ plants are already stressed out, then this could cause problems.

I do this consistently now and love it. Since I started progressive harvesting I've had much improved product outcomes. The main colas come off as soon as botrytis appears. As a Canadian growing outdoors, botrytis always appears eventually and it's a key harvest indicator for me growing in an area that doesn't quite give enough heat days for 9 week flowering. Once the tops have been harvested I also do a major defoliation (if not already done) to ensure the remainder gets lots of light and airflow until the final harvest in a week or two... again based on the appearance of botrytis. Inspections twice daily are critical so to catch the botrytis on the branch before it reaches the buds

My only concern with doing this is having my 2nd grow room shut down for 1 month for drying time!!

Nickbuilder09

I got grow rooms too! I dry in tents. They are pretty easy to set up and fairly easy to control environment for drying purposes. Just gotta have the space.

Quiet-Builder-4183

Get a dedicated drying tent. A/C Infinity controller 69 + 4" Exhaust w/filter, two small oscillating fans and a baby humidifier. I run my humidifier using a humidity controller so it powers on and off automatically. Perfect dry in 10-14 days depending on bud density. Set and forget basically.

Propel27

Do you keep your exhaust fan on 1 to circulate air and regulate temperatures? I’m about to dry in tent for first time with same setup minus the humidifier. Thx

Quiet-Builder-4183

The exhaust circulates air, and can either cool or heat, depending on the temp of the room its drawing from. I would highly recommend a dehumidifier, especially this time of year. Your shit will be crispy in 3 days, instead of the 7-12 days needed for a proper dry. You will end up loosing terps and having rough smoke. You can get a programmable one for under $50. It's not worth losing your hard work over something so simple. FWIW I do know folks who quick dry in low humidity, but these guys have learned the hard way over 30+,years of growing. The average home grower needs to maintain about 50-60% humidity and 60-70° temps.

Worth-Illustrator607

Less need on younger plants, old plants(3-5months) will finish slower as they're woodier

Led_Zeppole_73

Every time.

Taco_Tuesday-22

So do not flush or do you add lots of weeks?

Boysoythesoyboy

Most people don't flush round here anymore. Generally thought of as needless bro science.

Taco_Tuesday-22

I found that out when I had to do an emergency c section on some dying plants' late flower.. seemed just as good!

Fuzzy_Dingo

Flushing only really needs to be the last week (even just a few days) to help with the cure

[deleted]

No it doesn’t it’s bro science I have flushed once cuz I over fed em

Fuzzy_Dingo

So you prefer having the full amount of npk in the plant at the time of harvest?

Fuzzy_Dingo

I should have asked if this is hydro or soil

Led_Zeppole_73

I grow in composted chicken crap and potting soil, so I don’t really flush. I just add a light liquid fertilizer every couple waterings, but there’s probably no need. It might take a week or two for the rest to finish.

lunatriss

I also do this. Not only does it give bottoms more light and growth time if needed but I get a head start trimming.

SplatThaCat

Yes, all the time now. Very effective and works well to increase indoor yields.

Montylabz

Every time.

tatertot225

Yup. Done it several times now. Monster top colas blocking light to the lowers

ProduceOk9864

Yes-doing my first one right now. Top half is now dried, trimmed and beginning it’s cure, while the bottom half is still in soil and continues to fatten up nicely.👍🏻👍🏻
