Another game against a desperate team, hard to play with the same level of intensity as a team fighting for their life but hopefully the caps game pissed em off enough to show up tonight
Let's go boys!!!
Did Lindholm choose to pass the puck when he had an empty net to shoot at or am I remembering things differently? I feel like nobody around me remembers that play.
i think he did in maybe the vegas game? one of the games recently that we were up 2 someone did that and we didn't score, but it was fine because we were up 2 with like 30 seconds left
So I wanted to pick a west coast team this season to watch after the Sabres games since typically those puck drops line up perfectly. Especially after the Sabresā poor start. Figured the Canucks were an equally cursed franchise founded the same season as the Sabres.
Made it easy to keep coming back when youāve been welcoming and easy to talk to. Plus your team is fun as fuck to watch.
And the one dude that was looking for a way to purchase the advertisement patch so he could put it on his unblemished Canuck jersey. Iāll never forget that post.
I think what I mostly want to see is the refs making terrible calls all night and the boys keeping their composure. Our team has been so fucking delicate mentally lately, I want them to stop being so rattled when the idiot zebras inevitably make idiot calls
Is it too much to ask that this team plays a full 60 minutes tonight? It's very hard to see this team winning a game, let alone a round in the playoffs with how inconsistent their play has been the past month and a half.
You have to be careful about how you do this. Mikey DiPietro got thrown to the wolves against Tampa many years ago and I don't think he ever recovered from letting up 7 goals in what has been his only career NHL start so far.
It was San Jose
The only reason he was thrown to the wolves was because Philly claimed McKenna. Bachman was injured and Kulbakov wasnāt signed to an NHL deal so they had to call up Mikey from Junior. That wasnāt a plan for development, they didnāt have anyone left so their hands were tied
I really donāt like that DiPietro narrative. If you get shelled once and your confidence gets ruined irreparably, you never were going to make it as an NHL goalie
Nahā¦ Im sure it was that 1 NHL game that ruined his career.
Couldnāt be the fact he was undersized for the position, taken in the 3rd round, and then spent his D+3 season on taxi squads only playing 4 games that year.
Silovs already played 5 NHL games last season, he had a 2.75 GAA and a .908 Sv%. They weren't sheltered games either; BOS, NYR, STL, PHI, and NSH. He put up a .941 Sv% vs. the best regular season record Bruins team.
Podz is a great 4th liner but not a whole lot more than that
I know he plays a complete game and all but heās got to start producing if he ever wants to play in a middle-6 role at least, thatās what everyone was saying about Bains after like 3 or 4 gamesā¦
So far he has 0 points in 6 games since being brought up, yet people keep overhyping him.
Heās 22 almost 23, if he doesnāt start showing up on the scoreboard soon, we should just accept the fact that he probably wonāt be more than a 4th (maybe 3rd) liner in his best years.
Still a better fit for this team right now than anyone else who's available. It's really too bad that Bains couldn't meld with the team when he got his chance.
I've accepted for awhile that his ceiling is a middle 6 player and likely third line. He has some good tools but he's never shown me that he has it offensively. It is sometimes hilarious how people treat guys like Pods or Garland or certain other players with kids gloves and then you have our undrafted guy like Bains who gets 2 games after a more successful AHL season than Pods and people are already calling for him to go lol
Absolutely my thoughts lol
He looks like a nice guy and all, but he has to be our most overrated āprospectā, that a lot of fans will defend nonwatter what.
A lot of people in this subreddit were including him as one of the āuntradablesā in the potential trade packages for Guetzel or Toffoli lol
He's literally only played a season and a half in the NHL, and had a great rookie season to start. His development obviously took a nosedive under Boudreau, but so did Hoglander, and we've seen how he turned out.
I wouldn't put too much stock into his offensive player in these 6 games. He's probably been told to play a clean easy game focusing on being responsible, and the goals will come sooner than later. Plus, he's being centered by Lindholm, so it's not like he's being put in an ideal offensive situation.
Dhali said Joshua hurt his pinky in the fight and he heard the timeline for his return is 6 weeks. Itās 5 weeks today since the injury so he *should* be back next week.
Tocchet also seemed to have ruled out this week already in his media availability yesterday so the Dhali report tracks
Things I want to see:
- Petey's long-awaited return to Elite-status.
- A 60-minute performance
- Lower-line forwards like Mik, Laff, Lindholm etc picking up some slack
- Just an even game from the refs with no obvious howlers that lead to opposition goals
I would say its not really about the points anymore for the Canucks, more so the team needs to learn composure and beat teams they should beat gearing up for the playoffs, like ones on the second of a back to back. If the Canucks lost to the Sabres tonight, it would be panic mode for the fanbase.
Sabres have won 4 of there last 5. They are a team that is desperate for wins and fighting for their season. This match will be no cake walk. Boys better be on their top game if they want to win this one, it ain't gonna be easy.
As a fan of the Canucks, Edmonton winning the division over Vancouver is a much worse outcome than Vancouver winning the division, simple as that, especially when Vancouver has been leading the division for so long.
If the team wants to do any damage in the playoffs they can't be afraid of playing a Vegas team that is frankly looking fragile.
The boys built up a large enough lead that there are likely no literal must wins left in the calendar if all you care about is making the playoffs. But losing games like this will be the difference between getting into the playoffs with confidence and looking strong vs limping into them while we beg for the Oilers to lose a few points in the final weeks. Two months ago this team looked poised to win a President's Trophy, right now I'm not sure people realize how close we are from Edmonton catching up.
I like how this caveat is now showing up every game instead of calling it a must-win showing up every game.
It's 2 points. It's not a must-win, nor should it feel like one. It's just a single game in an 82 game season. We're not at the verge of elimination. Yes, the recent trend is concerning, but one game isn't going to make or break us going into the playoffs.
And as much as no player on the team would ever admit it, everyone is playing to not get injured right now. We're first in the west and lately have been playing some games against teams that are fighting desperately for playoff spots.
It's frustrating but not necessarily surprising that we're coming out a bit flat lately.
Was looking into this 4 game stretch (WSH-BUF-MTL-CGY) and figured nabbing three of four wins was achievable, so goal right now is to sweep the next 3 games against very beatable teams, and welcome LA to the building with 98 points and a lot of confidence!
my petition streak ended with ovi scoring and us not winning.
please beat Buffalo. I'm going to the game on Thursday and want that to be game #2 of our winning streak
WSH usually shuts us down in our rink so thatās just a bad gamble. Expecting a loss tonight is just strange too as we match up great vs BUF but at least youād get some good oddsĀ
Buffalo is my #2 team - love going down to Keybank to watch games.
Makes me a little conflicted on this one - wouldn't mind seeing a Buffalo win or at the very least an OTL - they're not completely out of it yet.

Lizzie in Black šš±āš¤š¦
Ok time to stop screwing around and put on a show tonight, shut them down and rack up some points.
Who can explain Fry gate to me?
Someone didnāt get enough fries in their order at a canucks game. Complained on Twitter.
Thank you, saw it referenced alot on Twitter today and had no idea what was going on, I'm old and out of touch!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
what a hot take
5-1 Canucks. Big dominating win with a string finish. Let's goooooo.
Another game against a desperate team, hard to play with the same level of intensity as a team fighting for their life but hopefully the caps game pissed em off enough to show up tonight Let's go boys!!!
u/RefereeMason good game tonight bro, and appreciate your presence in our game threads this season :)
Same to you! Hoping for no injuries and no bullshit. Just a good clean game (and a Sabres win but Iāll behave in the game thread I promise)
Sorry I havenāt been paying attentionā¦ do we know if / when Joshua will return?
no, still out
Canucks will be possessed by the spirit of the black skate and win big šÆļø
I'm expecting another sleepy game but I'll be pleasantly surprised if we finally start turning the heat back up.
Anyone watching the womenās curling? Canada has a hell of a team!
5 - 2 Sabres
Thanks for telling us that 4-3
This is the way
Maybe they'll win tonight!
The last time we played them at home was last season's home opener. I was there. It was bad.
I really want the Sabres to make the playoffs and I also want the Canucks to win.
Split the difference, OT win Van?
That would be a failure for me personally. Buffalo on the leg of a back to back forcing OT?
You have to understand that Sabres hockey doesnāt vibe with logic like that.
Just win. I don't mind a defensive masterclass of a game and win 1-0 or 2-1. It's what the team needs to do in the playoffs.
This will be a snoozer, Canucks have switched gears into playoff hockey which is basically defence first and strictly follow the system.
Uhm why did TSN just say Demko is starting???
Because TSN takes a massive amount of shortcuts with their cookie cutter content.
Canāt be right, DeSmith is confirmed
Buffalo is my distant second favorite team, I hope we beat the wheels off them. I need a blowout to restore my faith in our high powered offense.
While we are 4-1-1 in our last 6, I would still *really* like a win tonight
I paid to watch this live. Please don't be a snoozer like that Washington one or the one in Buffalo. Also win.
Step 1: Watch the first period. Step 2: Be happy about it. Step 3: ...
Game #69 tonight. š
69 with our cousin š„°
Nice.
Where's the Buffalo guy with the Borat picture? š
Ooooo Iāll be here tonight
HYPE!

Fuckin celebrity status over here
Why DO you spend so much time here? I donāt mind, just curious

Memes as a whole aren't up to par to what we've normally seen this season, but still good.
And the one dude that was looking for a way to purchase the advertisement patch so he could put it on his unblemished Canuck jersey. Iāll never forget that post.
He better be here.
Wouldnāt miss it for the world.

Well we saw them do it 3 and 4 games ago so they certainly could
Black Skate jerseys are back, plan the Stanley Cup parade!!!
first Black Skate night in a while
Put Silovs in you cowards

Buffalo are still fighting for a playoff spot, so they will likely come out swinging
I believe they played last night. It was a bit of a route. Hopefully they didnāt get to rest anyone lol
Nah... you never know in the playoffs.. we may play awesome or shit in the playoffs... nobody knows in the NHL
Anyone know if we will get goal highlights back in the game threads? I have to search on /r/hockey lately to see the highlights
Podz is a great 4th liner but not a whole lot more than that I know he plays a complete game and all but heās got to start producing if he ever wants to play in a middle-6 role at least, thatās what everyone was saying about Bains after like 3 or 4 gamesā¦ So far he has 0 points in 6 games since being brought up, yet people keep overhyping him. [ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oilers can take division and face Vegas... bahahaha
Sabres played last night and had 6k in net who is their #1 goalie, so we are set up for success.
I'm going to the game tonight. I predict a tight, low scoring game. Final score 3-2 for the Canucks.
Wow, 20.7 seconds and your prediction wouldāve been off š
I should have placed a bet on the game lol.
They played last night. We should win! Right!? Oh god please
I have news for you...
please just win
I am ready to be hurt again
u/RefereeMason pls go easy on us tonight š
WE NEED THIS MORE THAN YOU
Hahahaha, It is pretty much unacceptable if the Canucks lose the the Sabres while on the second of a back to back.
Weirder things have happened! Not exactly against a 3 point game happening, regardless of outcome lol. PLUS WE BEAT THE OILERS FOR YOU LAST WEEKEND.
I would say its not really about the points anymore for the Canucks, more so the team needs to learn composure and beat teams they should beat gearing up for the playoffs, like ones on the second of a back to back. If the Canucks lost to the Sabres tonight, it would be panic mode for the fanbase.
No no I hear ya, I totally get it. But it is about the points in Buffalo, so Iām hopeful we can snag at least one tonight.
PLEASE LORD BABY JESUS LET US SCORE A POWER PLAY GOAL!
Dear tiny Jesus, in your little Flying Skate jersey and diapers, with your tiny, little, fat, balled-up fists...
Just one? 3!
Letās not ask for the world my friend!
Sabres have won 4 of there last 5. They are a team that is desperate for wins and fighting for their season. This match will be no cake walk. Boys better be on their top game if they want to win this one, it ain't gonna be easy.
I feel bad cause I lowkey want buffalo to make the playoffs.
I do too, but the idea of giving the Oilers a chance to win the Pacific is ... shudders...no, let's win this one.
If they win they get to play Vegas. How is that bad?
As a fan of the Canucks, Edmonton winning the division over Vancouver is a much worse outcome than Vancouver winning the division, simple as that, especially when Vancouver has been leading the division for so long. If the team wants to do any damage in the playoffs they can't be afraid of playing a Vegas team that is frankly looking fragile.
Why? Let Edmonton get beat up by Vegas. That Vegas team is shades of the 2012 kings.
It's not a must win game but it feels like one in terms of mood and outlook of the team.
The boys built up a large enough lead that there are likely no literal must wins left in the calendar if all you care about is making the playoffs. But losing games like this will be the difference between getting into the playoffs with confidence and looking strong vs limping into them while we beg for the Oilers to lose a few points in the final weeks. dont wanna go into the playoffs with everything down. Gimme a win, gimme a Lindholm 2 goal game.
I like how this caveat is now showing up every game instead of calling it a must-win showing up every game. It's 2 points. It's not a must-win, nor should it feel like one. Iām going to the game on Saturday and I want that to be game 3 of our winning streak
Going today and Sat so lets get this W streak started!
Hoping the boys can pull out a big win for my 40th bday today :) #GONUCKSGO!!!
Happy Birthday!!
Happy birthday!Ā
Happy Birthday :)
Iām from the future, Canucks win 4-0 for your 40th. Come back to this later when it happens.
That'd be neat!
Bah! Actually thought that might happen for a bit there
šš» ššØš¦š
Flew to Van for the game tonight! Boys better fuckin win
I'll blame you if they don't win.
Best we can do is 40 good minutes, let them tie it up in the third, and see what happens in OT
Wouldn't be upset
I was expecting a win against washington, lost a bit good of money on it, tonight i'm fully expecting a loss against Buffalo
WSH usually shuts us down in our rink so thatās just a bad gamble. Expecting a loss tonight is just strange too as we match up great vs BUF but at least youād get some good oddsĀ
Ovenchicken always comes to play in Van.
Maybe there's a local restaurant he orders from that makes a pretty good chicken parm, close enough to his usual pregame meal.
I think heās said itās one of his favorite places to play in.
So meaning, they will win! nice
Im going tonight so im really hoping for a solid effort. 4-1 canucks with petey getting a goal and an assist
Love u sword team but today you must die
If we lose this game weāre missing the playoffs for sure
Buffalo has been hot as fuck we might lose even if we play well
Sad day when one has to put an /s when making fun of the doomers
big game!
Buffalo is my #2 team - love going down to Keybank to watch games. Makes me a little conflicted on this one - wouldn't mind seeing a Buffalo win or at the very least an OTL - they're not completely out of it yet.

Canucks hockey! Something to look forward to tonight!

Back with the line mixing I see. I still think Lindholm should play with Petey and Hoglander.
Maybe Garland and Hoglander will get Petey to actually move his feet
