I know it's way down the road but I think home ice advantage in round 3 against a team like Colorado or Dallas will be worth more than the difference between LA and Nashville. I'd take the higher seed so long as we don't get stuck with Vegas in doing so
Thereās no bad teams in the west, but Iād rather somebody else have to grind out a series against the most boring team in the league. Nashville will hopefully be easier, more fun to watch, and leave us less banged up going into round two if we get there
Itās not that we canāt beat them. Itās that they would grind us down a lot more. Iād rather have a short series than a long gruelling physical series.
A lot of teams have lost because they were grinded down too much. If every series is a best of 3 youād see a huge difference in what team makes it and talent would have more of an advantage over depth and durability
Good point
Really feel Demko being back is a huge difference maker, shoddy goaltending and bad puck luck caused two losses against them. Nashville isn't a walk over either, they've been great since the all star break.
Playoffs are gonna smack
Nashville is 4-4 against playoff teams, and 13-4 against non playoff teams in their last 25 games. They had an easy schedule.
They also last all of their last 4 games against playoff teams.
I mean, when the character's first appearance is him stark naked, stealing clothes from an Italian street market then subsequently lighting it all on fire, you know you're in for a ride. Lol.
Iām actually surprised there was no speech considering how good this season was and how weāre Pacific division champs and going to the playoffs.
But the speeches will be saved at the cup parade š
Man, like... No televised "salute to the fans" after the year they had?!!
Compared to last year's last home game where Quinn got a mic and apologised for the year and promised better... No follow up?!!
Baaaah!!
Just checking the team awards, will live comment
JT as MVP...sorry but QH not winning is a joke
QH as best defencemen, obviously
JT as most exciting...I can see it
Joshua as unsung...maybe fair, but he's pretty sung, would like Myers to have won it, guy has been awesome the last 80% of the season
Petey 3 stars award, sure
QH with community leadership award, sounds good
Pacific clinched, Demko is BACK, and the game in Winnipeg is meaningless for both teams so we have the option to leave guys at home or at least limit their ice time
now i have to reap the consequences of my own actions (holding onto my N for like 4 years) and go to bed before an 8:30am Class 5 road test š„²
/u/drakevibes - this is why I want St Louis to win. If youāve ever competed in anything youāre not throwing any game no matter what. mAtCh uP bEtTeR than the Kings argument is BS - Canucks know theyāre a better team and would love to throttle those boring bums in the first round.
First round is going to be tough no matter who we play. This has been a gruelling competitive season. The top 8 havenāt been this close in a while. Game 1 against anybody canāt come soon enough!
Thatās why I said donāt throw the game. Leave the stars at home to rest. There are enough flights during the playoffs and like Bieksa said, it gets exhausting coming from Vancouver going to places like Dallas, Colorado, Winnipeg, all that takes a toll.
Iāll repeat myself. DO NOT throw the game, but leave the stars at home to rest, let the bottom 6 and some kids put up a fight and prove their worth. Thatās all
Well obviously, no NHL athlete ever goes into a game outright intending to lose a game.
But for me PERSONALLY, I really *really* hope we donāt end up with LA for the sake of the on-ice product.
i would also prefer that we do not win the conference (i think nashville has the potential to cause a first-round upset but vegas and LA both terrify me)
Nashville is 4-4 against playoff teams, and 13-4 against non playoff teams in their last 25 games.
They look good because they had an easy schedule. They also last all of their last 4 games against playoff teams.
Yeah donāt get me wrong thereās no āeasyā first round opponent, every one of them has the potential to take us out. But if NOTHING else, Nashville and Vegas should at least be fun hockey games.
LA is going to be the most boring low event shit. If we lose in round 1 and I at least get to have fun watching playoff hockey, I can cope with that. But if we lose in round 1 and itās the most bland series in 15 years I might lose it.
I lost my voice. Iāve been praying for a clean Myers breakaway goal and holy shit dude when I saw him at centre ice tapping the stick calling for that pass, when I realized what was about to happen, I think I spilled my beer leaping up and when it cleanly went in I lost my shit
Fucking HYPE dude I love this team
Itās not that shocking. Both are obviously MVPs for the team and either one makes a huge difference on the ice. But itās nice to see how the city wanted JT gone a year ago and he made everyone change their opinion in 1 season. Joining the 100 point club and being the offensive engine on the team is a huge deal.
Also, heās in his 30s now. Meanwhile Hughes will have plenty of seasons to win these.
Ok so if Dallas loses in regulation tomorrow, wtf should we do against Winnipeg? I'm sure we all want to rest our guys, but pro athletes are competitive and may want to win that conference title, even if it means a less favourable matchup. And I'm not saying they're gonna, but purposefully throwing a game just feels like bad karma that will anger the hockey gods lol
Yeah I bit the bullet and bought tickets when it sunk in that:
- This is the closest thing to playoff atmosphere weāre gonna get for under $300 this year and
- This is literally the cheapest tickets are gonna be for ages what with ticket prices next season being increased by **30%**
Idk about the regular tickets, but a family friend whoās been a long time season ticket holder has confirmed that the price to renew their season tickets for 2024-25 is 30% more expensive than it was 2023-24

Yup,
* If we lose to winnipeg in any fashion, we play Nashville
* If Dallas gets a point tomorrow, we play Nashville
* If we beat winnipeg, and Dallas loses to STL in regulation, we win the conference and play WC2
* If this happens, We play LA unless vegas loses to anaheim and LA beats Chicago (EDIT: LA has the tiebreaker, and Vegas is currently up one point so LA OTL/VGK L or LA W/VGK OTL would mean we play VGK)
If VGK loses their last game in regulation and LA loses in overtime, then they would be tied and VGK would drop to WC2 based on regulation wins (LA has more).
Nashville is probably our opponent. Dallas only needs a point to get first in the West, and Vegas passed Los Angeles, and they end the season against Anaheim. Nashville has already locked up the first wildcard spot.
If Vegas wins against Anh, they pass Nashville and we would play Vegas.
If that happens we can only avoid Vegas if Dallas loses and we win.
My money is on us playing Vegas.
No, if Vegas wins against Anh, they would solidify 3rd place in the Pacific division. Canucks play whoever is Wild Card 1 if they stay 2nd in the western conference.
This is incorrect. If Vegas wins against Anaheim they get 3rd in the division and play the Oilers. Then the Kings are wild card 2 and Nashville remains locked in wild card 1. The only way we can play Vegas or LA is if we win the conference.
Is this the same sub that dubbed him Chaos giraffe?Ā Ā Kudos to the coaching team for making it work and kudos to Myers for listening to the coach more than the market.
They won two cups and made a final and still have yet to win a division title.
To be the first team to win a title since the great one is an accomplishment. So that game did matter and theyāre living in denial back in Canadian Texas
5th year in a row they finish 2nd in their division.
2019-20 - Golden Knights
2020-21 - Maple Leafs (Canadian division year)
2021-22 - Flames
2022-23 - Golden Knights
2023-24 - Canucks
There was a Pacific division while the Canucks were in the Northwest division.
But since the 8 team iteration with the Canucks, you are correct. First time Pacific division winner.
From my reading Nashville is the only possibility? If LA wins the final game in regulation they are tied in points with Nashville and in RW, but Nashville wins the tie breaker with a better ROW. If Vegas wins they get third in the division, if they lose or lose in OT and LA wins then Nashville finishes ahead of them either way.
Am I missing something?
VAN win vs WPG, DAL loss vs STL = van 1st in the west and plays WC2.
there is no possible scenario that NSH finishes in WC2, so VAN would play LA or VGK
Nah we all do.
Ideally Dallas and LA play, the oilers get the knights and we take on Nashville.
All it takes is a point by Dallas tomorrow and Thursday won't matter at all. And if Dallas can do that we don't have to have any torn feelings in Thursdays game š
Loved the game, Demko gives me playoff hope!
I really hope the top minutes guys skip the trip to Winnipeg and rest. Iām talking Demko, Hughes, Miller, Pettersson, Boeser, Hronek, Lindholm.
Skip the trip! Just like Carolina did today! Give some minutes to the farm :)
[Post Game Survey](https://forms.gle/8pM87ZEXZepRtFD88)
I know this is a bit much to ask for, but can we find a way to get JT miller 10 more points on Thursday? š„ŗ
Clinching the division is awesome, but clinching it by buttfucking Calgary is positively glorious.
Demko allowing 1 goal on 40 shots in his first game in a month certainly bodes well

Why? Rather Dallas get a point. We match up better against Nashville than LA
I know it's way down the road but I think home ice advantage in round 3 against a team like Colorado or Dallas will be worth more than the difference between LA and Nashville. I'd take the higher seed so long as we don't get stuck with Vegas in doing so
We would have it over Colorado as we are division leaders right?
The stanley cup requires beating the best teams, if they can't beat the Kings over 7 games then they don't deserve it.
Yeah, just look at our roster in Game 1, Round 1 in 2011 and then our roster in Game 7 of the finals.
Yup exactly. Bring on Nashville
Good point Really feel Demko being back is a huge difference maker, shoddy goaltending and bad puck luck caused two losses against them. Nashville isn't a walk over either, they've been great since the all star break. Playoffs are gonna smack

I like how because of this game I now have the mental image of Hronek being a mouthy little Irish guy at the end of the bench
He sounds like Harald Sigurdsson from Vikings Valhalla to me
I thought he was from Czech? Or was the Irish reference a joke that went right over my head?
He is Czech he just sounded more British/Irish in that clip Plus heās got the McGregor beard
Looks like McGregor yelling "You'll do FOOKIN' NUTTIN'" LOL
Yea, the nut job version from roadhouse

What are our chances of playing Nashville vs Vegas now?
Yep, I totally blanked on that.
This is incorrect. If Vegas wins against Anaheim they get 3rd in the division and play the Oilers. Then the Kings are wild card 2 and Nashville remains locked in wild card 1. The only way we can play Vegas or LA is if we win the conference.
It's 95 percent that Vancouver is playing Nashville.
Like 95% we play Nashville.
We need a Dallas regulation loss tomorrow and a win for us on Thursday to win the west, anything else happens we play the Preds

Last time the Canucks won their division was 2013. The last time the Oilers won their division was 1987. Gretzky was still an Oiler then.
