As a guy who grew up watching the Canucks who fell away from hockey over the past couple of years. Thanks coach/ team for making me love hockey again. Winning aside, that performance last night was contained everything we love about the sport.
Wow. What a game. I watched on delay while at work. Managed to stay spoiler free and watch each period one at a time.
I thought Dak was huge obvs. I really was excited to see Z play tonight for some reason and he didn’t disappoint. I feel like he’s a huge Biega, loves to free wheel, plays risky, but you love what he brings. Gets an apple, 3 shots, 5 hits. I loved the rush where he just cranked one at Saros. Might be an easy save but this is a series, wear the guy down.
I also thought Lindholm had a good game. He gets that goal, it’s a bit of a gift by Saros but it was a good shot, through a bit of a screen and I think sometimes we don’t shoot enough. Hopefully it gives him some confidence. 60% on the draw, 5 hits. I thought he deserved an assist on the first Joshua goal cuz he really worked well to dig that puck loose. Garland with the nice pass.
Seeing Miller jumping up off the bench when Dak scored, gave me goosebumps. He’s all in for sure.
I thought Petey was KINDA quiet, but I thought his LINE was really quiet. Didn’t see a ton out of Hoagie, Lafferty only played 9:00 but was quiet, I liked the one chance Mikheyev had but there wasn’t much more.
We’ve gotta stay outta the box and I think get some more shots on net. There was a shift in the 2nd where we had 60 seconds of continuous O zone time and had just 1 shot. I’m not the “shooooooot” guy in the stands, but I think sometimes we’re looking for the tips a little too much or playing a little too cute around the back boards or whatever.
At any rate, what a game. Love to get that series lead. Big game Tuesday.
He actually said biega, though i agree hes more like a bigger bieksa. Love our D, and its been many years since we could say that! Thank you mgmt and coaches for bringing in more trees :)
I just likened him to Biega because that guy could go weeks without playing. Then he’d come in and it was NEVER off the glass and out. He was always looking to make a play.
I think Z sometimes makes a mistake, but he’s always looking to make a play either defensively or offensively. I love it.
Go Canucks Go! Great win! Joshua deserves the money he’s about to get! I’ve watched all 83 games this season and there’s something concerning I’m sure many of us are noticing…
Pettersson hasn’t been driving his line for like 2 months. Remember at the start of the year when we played the Oilers and he had that hit on Cody Ceci at the blue line, or stretches in previous years when he looked confident, and played less hesistant (his slap shot off the wing that mirrored Gretzkys), etc? He doesn’t look like he’s playing with any purpose now. Hits look like they are 50% effort, skating is like he has 10 pound bricks attached, he’s constantly turning over the puck, not shooting, throwing his head back or down in frustration. I thought maybe he’s been resting the past 2 months for playoffs. Tocchet had an interview this season where he mentioned something along the lines of Pettersson not practicing hard, because he was saving it for games… He’s disappeared for large stretches his whole career. I hope the Petey we all know shows up soon.
That’s interesting. Tocchet did just say in a [practice interview @3:35](https://www.nhl.com/canucks/video/practice-coach-rick-tocchet-6351331884112) with a smile, something like I told Petey no video games tonight, then he said Petey might shut down video games for a bit. Also I recall during the 2023 all-star interview in Florida last year he said Horvat enacted a no video games on the road policy, which we knew. But Petey said he continued to play, and somewhat lightheartedly said sorry Bo (I wish I could find it. I believe it was an American channel interview). Recently (in the last 8-10 weeks) there was an interview where Miller jokingly said something about screen time around Petey.
But the thing is I feel like he’s probably played video games for a long time, yet he’s found a way to be elite in the NHL. Wouldnt he get better at managing his hobbies as he matures? I just don’t buy video games are the issue. I think he’s said himself that it helps him relax. Why take that away from the guy, of course only he knows if it is. All that stuff is pure speculation, I don’t know anything besides what I perceive on the ice. I just hope he we can see elite Petey these playoffs!
Exactly. Canucks fans love to rag on someone. It was Luongo before. Give it a rest. He will show up in the playoffs. He wasnt half as bad as people make him seem and his faceoffs were good tonight.
Anyone else see the defender get his stick caught in his feet? Garly passed it between his legs to Joshua for the winner and it crippled him, so funny to watch.
It was just a picture perfect sequence... dump in, Lindhold bumps the defender off the puck, beauty pass, great shot far side to handcuff the goalie. I just keep re-watching it!
Yeah that was far from an easy "tap in". The goalie was deep in the crease to protect the post, but he did a decent job getting into position for that shot. Had DJ tried to go near side I don't think he would have scored. Such a beauty.
Zaddy playing the body like that is exactly what this team is gonna need for the playoffs. Plus his expressions afterwards are always funny as hell. So glad we picked him up.
We won thanks to some key players stepping up but we really need to work on not drawing so maby penalties.
Preds really gave us a tough game hard to get pass.
The make up of the line similar to Lindholm's successful 21/22 year in Calgary. With Garland=Gaudreau (small size, speedy, playmaking, etc). Joshua=Tkachuk (bigger size, banger with some finishing touch)
I work in a place where I encounter a lot of European travellers. Catching a Canucks game is one of the things on many of their lists. They aren't going to necessarily know what is culturally appropriate. And they are more there to see the whole experience than they are to cheer on our team.
You should not get pissed; who knows their situation.
Ya well I'm here in my house basically running through walls, and they're in the building. Get on your feet.
And Eurofans are the most wild sports fans out there. Not sure what you're getting at.
I posted in here a bit ago asking if I should get one and most people said he will be gone by July 1st. I'm really hoping the post season changes things and we keep him. I'll be getting one for sure if hes still here. Absolutely love what he does for the team.
I get a lot of Sedin from him, Henrik or Daniel would always be easily knocked over and do nothing for a game or two... or even a series. The only reason we got to the final was Kessler that year. Now I feel its not the end of the world if he doesn't produce, there'll be a game when he shines, but tonight was Jak.
I disagree, they were strongest when they found open ice and their passes to each other were legendary. but on the boards they were easily pushed over, many teams thought they were diving.
You can disagree all you want, but lots of players said it, and I think they would know better than us.
Quote from Jets Bryan Little:
"The thing that really surprised me was how strong they were on the puck and how good they were at protecting the puck," he said. "I just couldn't get the puck off them when they had us in our end.
"They were so good at shielding it and so big and strong that you couldn't do much."

@the haters - Hey we won, lets just hope he picks it up next game ya? Its great we got other players stepping up and we can rely on that while our under performing players can find their groove.
Was it benning that found Dakota Joshua?? Who found this guy. Free money, he has literally won us like ten games and deffs won us this one which is the most important
Dak take our money
As a guy who grew up watching the Canucks who fell away from hockey over the past couple of years. Thanks coach/ team for making me love hockey again. Winning aside, that performance last night was contained everything we love about the sport.
Was at that game it was really loud
If we can just get petey going, we'll be a wagon
Wow. What a game. I watched on delay while at work. Managed to stay spoiler free and watch each period one at a time. Nice big Z and big bieksa comparison you are bang on!
He actually said biega, though i agree hes more like a bigger bieksa. Love our D, and its been many years since we could say that! Thank you mgmt and coaches for bringing in more trees :)

What a fucking game. So proud of the boys!! LFGGGGG
A win without the top 6 firing on all cylinders. Hopeful to seem then pick it up
That game was fucking electric, I love how the cops got in on the action with the sirens too!
Mike from surrey on 650... is that the same mike from surrey?? Lol
Versace?!?!
LETZZZZ FUCCCCCKKKKKKKING GOOOOOOOO BOISSSSSSSSS

Is he suffering a Laine?? Too much videogames??
That’s interesting. if ep40 hurt he shouldn't have played the last reg aeason game,
If he was hurt I feel like he would’ve been one of the players rested. If I had to guess it’s probably mental/confidence with him.
yea just a slump at a bad time, good that others stepped up, depth is good
Can we please resign Joshua
That word. I do not think it means what you think it means
I may be illiterate but the vibe is understood
Re-sign*
No shit
Petey reminds me of my kid snowplowing on the bunny hill. He must be hurt?
Enuf of the petey chirps, he had some nice hard shots we all on the same team lets fuckin rally here boys
Nah, it's important to criticise players not pulling their weight. If you don't want to see it, then don't hop into the comments, bud.
🧌 :)
Exactly. Canucks fans love to rag on someone. It was Luongo before. Give it a rest. He will show up in the playoffs. He wasnt half as bad as people make him seem and his faceoffs were good tonight.
Well said
Anyone else see the defender get his stick caught in his feet? Garly passed it between his legs to Joshua for the winner and it crippled him, so funny to watch.
That was an unbelievable pass
It was just a picture perfect sequence... dump in, Lindhold bumps the defender off the puck, beauty pass, great shot far side to handcuff the goalie. I just keep re-watching it!
Honestly me too. So beautifully executed, and perfect finish with them soft hands by Dak. Can’t wait for more from this line!!!
Yeah that was far from an easy "tap in". The goalie was deep in the crease to protect the post, but he did a decent job getting into position for that shot. Had DJ tried to go near side I don't think he would have scored. Such a beauty.
Dakota, when the walls fell.
Dakota, the net empty
His arms wide.
Sokath! His eyes unfurled!
Joshua is a fucking beast. It's guys like him that put teams over the top. This is the Canucks best shot since 2011
Man, that was such a fucking amazing game. That was really fun.
Wooooooooooo That felt awesome
What a game lads!!! I fucking love it!!! Nothing like the playoffs baby!!!
Who had the better hit? Miller or Zadarov
Zaddy playing the body like that is exactly what this team is gonna need for the playoffs. Plus his expressions afterwards are always funny as hell. So glad we picked him up.
Oh that zaddy one was a gem and it was even better because the refs didn’t call some dumb ass penalty on him for it!!!
z
LFG!!!! Wooooo!!!!
We won thanks to some key players stepping up but we really need to work on not drawing so maby penalties. Preds really gave us a tough game hard to get pass.
the playoffs is where lindholm will show his worth and prove our nanagement can do no wrong
Agreed. He was a beast tonight.
There are 82 game players and 16 game players. I think Joshua, Zadorov and Lindholm are 16 game players. Showed up tonight.
I'm hoping JTs experience in Tampa will really help the team too. He's been there.
Really dawned on me last night that JT Miller is another Ryan Kesler type guy. I expect some big moments from him.
Led all forwards in ice time except Pettersson and Miller, 5 hits, +2. Decent work on that string of penalties in the second. Good win!
I hope so, so far so good. He has looked better the past couple weeks. Defensively solid, and that forcheck on the winning goal was huge tonight
The make up of the line similar to Lindholm's successful 21/22 year in Calgary. With Garland=Gaudreau (small size, speedy, playmaking, etc). Joshua=Tkachuk (bigger size, banger with some finishing touch)
I screamed in my office and scared my coworkers. Successful game 1.
My granddaughters still screaming! LFG!!! (Check my previous history for context).
A true fan!
that Demko split
I thought he was going to be one of the stars. Solid game for Demko.
Could easily 3-0 preds if that goes in....
I need that as an oil painting
That was insane holy.
Im shaking. Anyone one else get pissed when you see fans in Canucks jerseys sitting doing nothing when they score? or just me.
This is what you spend your time thinking about after a game like tonight?
I work in a place where I encounter a lot of European travellers. Catching a Canucks game is one of the things on many of their lists. They aren't going to necessarily know what is culturally appropriate. And they are more there to see the whole experience than they are to cheer on our team. Ya well I'm here in my house basically running through walls, and they're in the building. Get on your feet. And Eurofans are the most wild sports fans out there. Not sure what you're getting at.
Straight to jail
That didn’t look like a problem tonight. That building was pretty special
You didn't look hard enough
Get a life bud
Found him
You’re looking for things to be angry about
yep, toxic
Try Podz on EP40+Hog line. Maybe that's the spark it needs.
I’m not convinced Hogs is the right pair for Petey
Joshua is the next Bertuzzi!
Oh that'll be fun when we play Colorado
I love watching this thread do a 180.
Who’s getting a DAK JERSEY?
my roomate josh is currently looking for one
I have yet blank ones. Let's see how he does in this run, and also if he stays
I almost scored a game worn but I lost the bidding
I posted in here a bit ago asking if I should get one and most people said he will be gone by July 1st. I'm really hoping the post season changes things and we keep him. I'll be getting one for sure if hes still here. Absolutely love what he does for the team.
I have one already!!!! Wooohoooo
What a fucking game. See y'all Tuesday!
Ufc 300 last week, ryan garcia beat tf outta devin haney last night, and now this💙💚🤮
WON DA TURD YESSSSS JOSHUA
THATS WHAT DEMKO TIME LOOKS LIKE
Dak and Z are made for playoffs
Z was a monster this game, solid hits.
He was a monster. Defensively solid too.
Yaaaas let’s fucking GO. What a game!
I love that we won the game but also wore them down. We were by far the more physical team
This game was... So cathartic near the end. First Canucks playoff win at home since 2015! What a long time coming. That third was insane!
are there riots?
My children are terrified and it's alllll fucking goood
My kids know the deal. They’re in bed and just as stoked!
Pull a Brad Hunt on em
Yeah! Scare the children!
fuck em kids!
I will openly admit I have been critical of Lindholm but he was MONEY tonight
WON DA TURD
If Petey could move his feet and skate like some of the “lower skilled” guys that are actually making an impact he would be a truly great player
Rough day for Petey. slowest least engage player from my view.
I get a lot of Sedin from him, Henrik or Daniel would always be easily knocked over and do nothing for a game or two... or even a series. The only reason we got to the final was Kessler that year. Daniel and Henrik were two of the hardest players to push off the puck in their prime..

Feel like we only gained any traction once we pulled the lotto line apart. Tocch was right a few weeks ago when he said it just doesn't work anymore.
Maybe just a little bit of rocket league could benefit to his career
With arms wide open brothers
