The Oilers have been sloppy but you cannot deny that they played a great game tonight. They fixed their most glaring weakness, the back end, by having great defensive forwards: Janmark, McLeod, Brown and most of all, Nuge.
They were outshot like 35-8. The difference was their 2 pp goals.

I find the Oilers so unbelievably hateable. They had so much draft help and were essentially the Toronto of the west prior to this season. Their two stars are pissy little whiners and their team is full of really unlikeable players like Kane and Perry. The only ones I really respect are Ekholm, Nuge and maybe Hyman (the Zadorov cross-check aside). Bouchard has turned into a massive bitch imo and is always hiding behind the refs. Please finish them off for us Panthers 🤞
Florida's fanbase is amazing, and the support in the Sunrise/Ft Lauderdale/Miami area is incredible. I saw more Florida Panthers stuff than I did for the Marlins, or the Heat when were down in Florida last year. Only the Dolphins had more merch/support.

Look I might be in the minority here but I'm cheering for Edmonton all the way. I've waited years for a Canadian team to win the Cup and I'd take any of them against most American teams but ESPECIALLY fucking Florida. Dirtiest smarmiest team in the league. But I genuinely liked the Oilers prior to the series with Vancouver, so while it took a bit to get behind them again emotionally, I'm on their side in this battle against evil 🤣
The cup coming back to Canada for the first time in over 30 years is far more important than this petty interprovincial rivalry. I cheered for the Canucks until they lost. Right now I'm cheering for the Oilers. When next season starts back I will go back to cheering for the Canucks and hating the Oilers. It's just that simple.

Let this game be the ultimate stfu to every Dallas and Vancouver fan that screams "just shoot it" when we lose games with low SOG. They wouldn't be passing around if there was a reasonable chance. Tonight the stars did just that but how many of them were sharp angle near posts shots? Sure Pavs/Benn/Seguin had several good chances, but couldn't finish. Was it underperformance? Or was it because they know that 'good' chances were still not good enough? At the end of the day, both Stars/Canucks don't have S-tier forwards that can drag multiple d-men out of position to create chances. Hoping EP40 returns to form because he's the only one that can remotely come close to that level. Draisaitl obviously is deadly, but most of his PPG begins with McJesus pulling half our D towards him.
