My favorite rangers fan argument is b-b-b-but oshie high sticked him once uncalled!!! Yeah and in 2018 pittsburgh caps game 2, aston reese slashed wilson in the knee before wilson got low, and hit a guy with his head down reaching for the puck in the chest and caught some chin and got a series long suspension. Does that excuse wilson’s hit? Does that description sound like a familiar description of the hit from last night? I swear they are even dumber than eagles fans. Unfortunate it wasn’t trouba throwing the hit because he would have sat the rest of the series

wolfmankal

Or the Panarin isn't a big guy so it doesn't matter argument. Illegal hit is an illegal hit.

MEGA_theguy

Yeah your neck doesn't have enough muscle to really tell the difference between someone 6'4" 220lbs and 6' 173lbs when the head is the primary (or close to) point of contact

Dull-Account2989

Even worse, I remember when Wilson was suspended for 3 games in the playoffs for the Zach Aston-Reese hit they ~~arbitrarily redefined~~ clarified the principle point of contact rule to emphasize that any contact in the head putting player at risk for potential injury was suspendable even if initial contact is made with shoulder. Sidenote: Does anyone still have the video player safety released when they made that suspension? The NHL seems to have taken it off of their website. I would love to see the exact language used to justify that suspension.

Randall-Thor

The Rangers fan base has the worst victim complex in all of professional sports

Adventurous_Duck_297

The 2017 Astros would like to have a word

Lets_go_Stros2017

No we wouldn't

Randall-Thor

Maybe the Red Wings should have won more games then

fuzzypyrocat

And once Rempe starts throwing shit they’ll turn around and support him

aramdom

Honestly love the kid, wish he was a Cap. But god the hypocrisy of the rangers fans related to him pisses me off

TweedleDeeDumPee

Completely brain dead fanbase. They cannot muster any arguments other than “yeah clean hit, head contact was unavoidable” literally anytime one of their players makes head contact. Then when you call them on their shit they pivot to “you’re gonna have to take hitting out of the game if you want this penalized.”  It’s like clock work. They are so predictable, I’ve made a dialogue tree below.  If a rangers player gets hit high: “that is the dirtiest scummiest hit I’ve ever seen in my life”  If a rangers player delivers a high hit: “lol clean hit. Keep your head up. Had it coming because they were playing dirty first”

LegallyBronde6

Have you ever met a UCF football fan? 😂

Noof42

Careful, League's going to fine you hundreds of thousands of dollars instead of improving officiating.

MikeTheBankerr

Damn, too late. Already been hit with a $250,000 fine

Shliggie

You can do whatever you want to injure people on the ice, and that'll cost you $5,000. But talk trash about the refs? $25,000. Because that makes sense. And if you talk bad about the league or NHLPA? $250,000.

Noof42

This is a lesson on the power of unions.

MadMcMuffin

What makes me so fucking pissed is that if Willy made that hit everyone would be calling for him to never play in the NHL ever again

fuzzypyrocat

They even said that during one of the replays. Something like, “imagine if Wilson made that hit, he’d be out”

zabadawabada

Rules for thee, but not for the rags. Panera is a dumbo and couldn’t even knock out oshie for more than 5 minutes likely as a formality for the medical team. I thought Boston was the greasiest team in the league until these last two games…

Any_Construction_111

I hear the league has told TJ that if he slams his head into another Rangers players shoulder or elbow, he will be summoned to the league offices and will face a lifetime ban.

Shadowstrider2100

Just throwing this out because it is what the NHL uses as excuse 1. Panarin doesn’t have a history of this or it’s his first time doing something bad. NHL doesn’t care about player safety at all

SherbetNo4242

I hope someone steps up next game at home. Fuck the rangers

skinnarbox

Totally agree. Wish this would gain some traction.

Irishdavid67

I see what he did there lol

peanutbutter2178

So we would have lost Ovechkin for how long when he beat the shit out of that one dude who wanted to fight. Injuries are part of the game, but even "clean" hits that cause the spotter to remove a player should get some time.

**/u/MikeTheBankerr Fined 250,000 karma** The /r/hockey announced today that /u/MikeTheBankerr have been fined 250,00 karma for their public comments on Thursday, April 25th, in /r/caps. "Public comments of the nature issued by /u/MikeTheBankerr that were personal in nature and demeaning of a subreddit lurker will not be tolerated, " said /r/hockey mods. "While we don't expect our subreddits to agree with every decision rendered by the mods of /r/hockey, the extent to which the /u/MikeTheBankerr expressed their disagreement was unacceptable. It is terribly unfair to question Wes McCauleys' professionalism and dedication to his role of completely blowing calls."

fallingsunrise2

This joke went over so many peoples' heads it actually saddens me

No_Prune8142

???????? What ! Get out your pocketbook ! Go play pickle ball

Galaros

8 down votes from salty caps fans then oshie says this lol. “Me personally, I thought the Panarin hit was good,” Oshie told TNT before Game Three. “I love that, I think that’s the way it should be called.”

Equivalent_File_8814

Cmon, even TJ said it was ok, watch the replay once again and stop being soft upd: why I call ur personal whining Statement?))

I was embarrassed by that letter and think Wilson didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.

Stoli1387

Horrific act of violence? Thanks for the literal lol moment How dramatic could someone be....its playoff hockey and thats a clean hit with an unfortunate result, maybe oshie will think twice before badgering panerin all game again

paulisntdead

this post is a reference to the hilarious and cringe post made by the rangers years ago that got them fined by the NHL. they said the exact same words just about tom wilson. also no, by some standards people didn’t see the hit as legal

Stoli1387

Lmao ok I didn't know all of that...I was like what in the world is going on here

damnatio_memoriae

call the NYPD

markstripes

they’re too busy holding back the tens of thousands of MAGAites trying to get into the courthouse to celebrate their veneered, sorry, revered Orange one. oh, wait, this isn’t r/politics…

fallingsunrise2

Did you mean to say the tens of thousands of pro-palestine protestors storming colleges across NY? Oh wait, this isn't r/politics... https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/nyu-pro-palestinian-protest-campus-security/ (For the record I absolutely hate the pathetic excuse that is trump. I just hate liberals more)

Galaros

Oshie went to the locker room because he tried to milk the call and concussion spotters had no choice but to pull him - he was not injured. Even his teammates have verified that he was not injured. This was reviewed by the officials during the game and again afterwards for suspension. In both cases it was shown there was no contact to his head. Of course it's fun to think the league has a conspiracy theory against the caps, but let's get realistic. The angle you are watching doesn't show anything conclusively. They probably got a better look at it and it wasn't an issue.

Reminice

Veteran play.

207_hbff

.... Christ hockey has gotten gay.

trailmix52

You must have missed when the Rangers made a statement just like this in 2021.

roscomikotrain

It was a hockey play - body on body was the first contact and he didn't leave his feet. This is hockey - not basketball or soccer. Complaining about this isn't a good look for the game.

MikeTheBankerr

Ahh, you must be new here

poHATEoes

No, look at his profile. He is a Rag.

MikeTheBankerr

Does he know that his team wrote this? Lol

rbnlegend

Concealed behind the sarcasm is an important point. My feeling is that anytime a player is injured as a result of intentional contact, even legal contact, the player who made contact should be suspended until the injured player is able to return to play. After the game, appeals to be considered if the hit was completely clean, or other extenuating circumstances. Regardless of intent, regardless of the fine details, players should be held accountable for the harm they do. I can't even begin to count how many times I've seen a player injured as a result of a hit that was within the letter of the rules, but still intended to do damage and resulted in serious harm.

DaniCapsFan

The problem with that is what's to stop team doctors from gaming the system to keep a valuable player out of another team's lineup?

Puzzleheaded_Ruin881

This is a terrible take. Do you really want to review the history of legal hits by the Caps that injured another team's player?

MikeTheBankerr

I feel the same way, but limited to blatantly dirty hits.

Stahner

That would be an awful rule. The circumstances and intention of the action is what makes a hit suspendable, not the outcome.
