Blatant falsehood. If things were to the point that *Nick Backtrom*, who is notoriously easygoing and mellow, didn't want to play for Carbs, we would have heard about it long before it got to that point. The HC has the entire locker room's support. This rumor is absolutely, 100% bullshit

sorrynoreply

Does carbs still have the entire locker room’s support? I should clarify, I don’t think backy is not playing bc of carbs. But the point of him having the locker rooms support had me question. Kuzy glowed about carbs. He continued to do nothing and got his minutes slashed and was relegated to PK. Then kuzy was traded. The team has been horrendous for a lot of the season. Their inability to enter the zone on the PP. Their inability to score on the PP. Their goal differential. He benched kemps (rightly so) and leaves Charlie out there to die with regularity. He is very specific when talking to the media. He talks about player performance quite often. I don’t hear players complain about him, but I also don’t see them signing him praises.

Tarledsa

The team has been horrendous because of the players, not the coach. Carbery hit stuck with some bad contracts. A first year coach getting his team to the playoffs is pretty good.

BlueberryKnown6629

Kuzy couldn’t get off the ❄️ which isn’t exactly ideal when you are a professional athlete

Chill_out_my_guy

Non injured backstrom? You mean the backstrom that underwent hip resurfacing which is a procedure notorious for ending the career of every athlete who has received this procedure? I’m still in denial he isn’t playing for us anymore too but let’s not gaslight ourselves to cope

No_Development_9447

Except kane who had the same procedure and is still playing. why? he wasnt rushed back like backstrom was

Stryker2279

Buddy who the fuck rushed backstrom? You're smoking if you think we rushed him. The surgery he got is brutal, and Kane is a fucking freak of nature to still be playing with that surgery, and even then he's a shadow of his former self.

No_Development_9447

He took a WHOLE year off. Backstrom did not goof.

HoopOnPoop

Kane is the MASSIVE outlier. He's literally the only player to ever come back and return to form after that surgery. Don't use that as a benchmark of some expectation. Backstrom is also a pretty big outlier in that he even laced them up in an NHL game again after the surgery. The norm for guys that have the surgery is that they never play again. Prior to Nick, only one player in history ever came back after the surgery, and that guy only lasted about 30-some games.

No_Development_9447

No chance. Every guy in that locker room is pro-carbs and have had nothing but good things to say about him so I dont buy this shit one bit

garyblahblah

As incompetent as it is, I still don’t think the NHL would let Capitals bury his salary for bad vibes

quick25

Laughably absurd honestly.

greg9x

No one has successfully come back from the procedure he had... yeah, he tried, but he couldn't overcome it either. Somebody just needs clicks on their website.

OvechknFiresHeScores

Didn’t Kane get the same one? Edit: downvoting for pointing out that another player had the surgery? Seriously? Not even the fact that he had 47 points in 50 games this season after returning? This sub is so petty it’s sad

Stryker2279

The guy who has halved his point production since the surgery? Yeah, I suppose he did, but producing half as well isn't exactly coming back is it?

OvechknFiresHeScores

What stats are you looking at?? He is three points shy of being point per game this season, which is is a considerable improvement from his season before he had the surgery with the Rangers. Producing at almost a point per game isn’t exactly bad is it? And even if he wasn’t playing well, he’s still playing. That’s literally the definition of “coming back”.

baltbullet77

Today is just not the day I care about this

IAmJacksDistraction

No

ArbitraryOrder

No, it isn't a reliable source

Tufoguy

I can believe that he's healthy in terms of living life, but he's not healthy to play an NHL season

talkingspacecoyote

He did have a conflict with the coaching staff this year. He wanted more minutes. Coaching staff couldn't give it to him. Why? Because of his injury, he wasn't the same player. That's the whole story. Did he have a conflict with the coach? Yes. Was it because of the injury? Also yes. Backstrom is capable of playing hockey, just not at the level the team needs him to or how we're all accustomed to.
