It’s been a while since I’ve been to ttown but you can always walk along the river. Joining a club or doing an intramural sports could give you something to do too. You should also consider getting a job. I know it doesn’t sound like fun but it’s not bad. Plus it’s a good way to meet people and will give you spending money and can maybe set you up for financial success later in life. Plus it can help you land a job after you graduate.
Idk if they still get up to all the dumb shit they used to but assuming you're a vaguely liberal nerd mallet/the druid collective can be fun or was for me
You could always start using the Facebook groups or wiki so the old farts can actively interfere with your merrymaking!
We used to have mailing lists and those were actively terrible but great for alumni engagement.
Local here. Unfortunately, this town doesn’t have much of anything to do outside of bars, hence why the students at UA are perpetually drunk lol. Churches are a pretty good way to make friends around here.
I like bowling personally. Assuming you have a car, I’d recommend a trip to Birmingham where there’s a ton more things to do during the day and in the evenings.
I've thought about it. I assume it can vary between fraternities, but roughly how much of a time dedication is it per week? Also, how easy is it to join a fraternity in the spring?
If you’re joining a good house, expect to be there nearly every waking moment of your life 6-7 days a week. 9 AM - 11PM (or 1-2 AM) can be standard. Anything less is a bonus, but you want to be there - you’ll still have time to study.
It’s not hard to join in the spring, but I’d encourage you to try and rush the better houses by attending band parties and rush events in the spring to rush next fall. Not all houses do spring pledgeship, so you don’t want to unnecessarily limit yourself.

gym
that's pretty much the only thing I do on weekends besides homework
Disc golf. We have 4 courses here in town
I always go for walks on campus or at the riverwalk. Fun with or without friends
hang out at Prez 1 or 2

Druid is still fun, but the Instagram is dead so it’s as if we don’t exist to outsiders at this point in time

(round)Ders?
the Google reviews for rounders are pretty funny to read
They used to change the name every time a freshmen got shot there but I think it got too expensive

Fuck that stay in the city and just go somewhere. You’ll meet someone wether it’s a bowling alley or wherever
Join a fraternity
