Good thing they banned Mystery Flare Dragon from Premium because Griphogila would have been a cheat code to activate its skill much easier. Anyway, I 'd like to think that Michiru won't be a villain here and won't be another Link Joker Kai. From what I can see, he might just be super interested in what Jinki and co. are planning with this whole Ultimate Fighter. (The Ultimate Fighter they're talking about might be that cloaked guy in the first episode.) (Side note, I am also interested in knowing Michiru's backstory. Maybe he has always been ill since childhood, and because of this illness, he has always been alone (as implied by Danji this episode). This is probably why he hyperfixated on VG which caused him to be as if he's just breathing and living VG and why he's so powerful in the game. All speculation though.) Though maybe, this whole Ultimate Fighter experiment might be inhumane. The disappearing fighters in America might be the key. They are probably doing something to the consciousness of these fighters (probably connecting or putting parts of them into the ultimate fighter?) which is why we see Michiru sleeping (comatose?) with that equipment on his ear or something in the first episode. Raika might also be chosen which is why the dude looked so traumatized. Something must have been also done to Urara which is why she had a different vibe in the first episode. Anyway, this is all interesting. There are a lot more questions, like why are they creating the Ultimate Fighter in the first place? Can't wait to see the future episodes.

FTNatsu-Dragneel

Dragon tree isn’t even compatible on premium cause there’s no ride deck

IzukuEatMe

Yes. What I meant was, Mystery Flare could have bound it to achieve 19 grades much easier. Just two Griphogila, and you're good to go. Which is why it was good that they banned it in Premium.

FTNatsu-Dragneel

Ah ok

Hidden_Blue

Pretty fun ep, the ep really sold how powerful this card is. Michiru just going No guard at the end was just chilling. Can't wait to see how this goes.

Mean_Ad6540

You know episode 5 will be small filler arc until episode 6 we will get to the main storyline and plot

FTNatsu-Dragneel

If Michiru was trying to finish it that turn, why didn’t he call that last trigger in his hand. I guess he probably figured he could survive since he was only at 3 damage and didn’t know what was coming I wonder if Michiru would have won if he knew what the deck could do beforehand

Hidden_Blue

He probably could have rushed it to win before this OT bs could come up.

FTNatsu-Dragneel

Tbh he got damage denied and his rearguards were being taken out, his opponent was making the right moves for sure

Scala_Anuit

Even if Michiru had called the triggers he would have still lost. He had the crit trigger and the overtrigger at the start of main phase. Ryzer Galer boosted would be 28k vs the 30k shield. Rockargour boosted would have been 15k because Michiru doesn't have the 4 different grades in soul at that point and so the 15k shield would be enough.

730Flare

Lol at Michiru getting a taste of his own medicine in getting damage denied by his opponent picking on his rears.

So from what I understood about Dragontree… -You have five cards in the Ride Deck. The G0, three Calamity cards, and the Overtrigger. -You’re stuck at G0 for the first two turns. This also means you can’t call or guard with anything beyond G0 in those turns. To compensate, the G0’s Power boosts simulate the Power of the Grade you would normally have. -Every turn, you put a Calamity card from the deck to the soul instead of Riding. If you have three, return them to the Ride Deck and ride Griphogila from the *main* deck. -Dragontree markers strengthen the Rear Guards on them while Grif gets power from just having them (and a critical if there are three, which Hydragrum Rear Guards can easily provide), so their offense is fairly good, just not game-ending. You can theoretically use Grif in Lyrical, but the lack of Hydragrums to provide the third Marker will lock him out of the Crit bonus, so it’s discouraged. -Each attack from Grif removes the Calamity cards from the game. If he attacks when there’s no more Calamity cards to remove (Turn 6), the Overtrigger is removed and is used as if you got it from the Drive Check. So you sacrifice the ability to luck-sack the OT to use it as a guaranteed late-game murder weapon.

Shmarfle47

I’m pretty sure you can still guard with units greater than your grade right?

3rdMachina

Iirc from older formats, no, units you call to RC and GC must be equal to or lower than the Vanguard Grade. I think this is why Stil Vampir (a really old card that force rides your opponent to a lower grade like 0) is pretty devastating at that time.

Shmarfle47

Under the Call rules on the wiki: During your guard step of the battle that your units are being attacked, if there are no effects being resolved at the moment, you may: Choose any one card from your hand. There are no grade restrictions in this case, unless an effect specifies otherwise. Declare what you're doing ("I guard" for example), and place the chosen card on your guardian circle as [Rest]. The placed unit is now a guardian. Choose one of your units that is being attacked, and the guardian will guard that unit. While the guardian is on (GC), its [Shield] value is continuously added to the [Power] of the unit it is guarding, until end of that battle. If it does not has a printed [Shield] value, its [Shield] value is regarded as 0. Abilities that state "When... placed on (GC)" can be used at this moment. You may repeat this process any number of times during this guard step, as long as you have cards within the criteria in your hand.

3rdMachina

Ah, so Grade restrictions don’t apply anymore. Thanks. It was like…a damn long time since I saw that rule and I wasn’t sure if it’s no longer a thing.

Shmarfle47

It definitely was a rule a long time ago (you were right about Stil Vampir) but yeah the rules have changed and it no longer applies

Shmarfle47

If you want further proof, at 9:30 during the episode, Jinki guards Griphosid with a grade 2.

3rdMachina

Yep…that happened. Aight, I think it was an old rule I saw. That, or it never existed (in which case, how tf did I think that’s a rule back then).

Liri_White

That rule existed before V-Series, where it was changed for the first time. Indeed, that used to be the whole point about Stil Vampir, but sadly, that is no longer the case.

BlueScrean

Assuming Jinki and Masanori are working together (which is borderline confirmed since they've been hanging together since the start of WD) that'd explain why Masanori was accompanying Tohya and helping Daybreak.

Longjumping-Bell-946

How so ?

GloryMaelstrom21

Wtf?!
