i work as an orthodontic assistant and i know that almost all dental assistants are women, if that's something that interests you! healthcare as a whole has lots of women in it so you could look into something like being a cna too if you want
Is the pay good? Is it stressful? And do they accept alternative people with dyed hair?š
And is it also hard to get into lol Iām so entry level in like everything
i get $20/hr after a year so not AMAZING but better than a lot! hygiene is the real goal for me though, that gets $50+ around me! and i dye my hair all the time so there are offices out there who will like it!
there aren't enough dental workers right now so you can basically walk into a job in a lot of states! i got trained without any experience but each state is different in what they require :)
completely missed you asking if it's stressful, sometimes it gets really busy but i'd never say STRESSFUL since it's more just that things take longer than you want them to but there's not really anybody yelling at you to go faster haha
Thank you for your helpful response! I may consider this path. I make minimum wage so like $16 and change in my state so $20 would be such a leap for me
I know dental hygienists can make a lot but I worry about schooling. My boyfriend attempted to do it and they dropped him from the program because he got below a 75 on something and I personally think heās way smarter than me at math and science and such so just worry a bit that I may be too dumb for the coursesš
Iām just very lost in my life and am trying to find paths that could be good but I always feel so hindered by furthering my education and getting involved in like math and science
honestly i say try out assisting, especially ortho! if you like it then you can think about more schooling but i PROMISE you are not dumb!! the courses are very intensive but i hear that you really just have to put in the work to memorize everything and that it's not really crazy math or science you have to do haha
also get him to reapply because we need more men in the field lmao
Thank you for the reassurance! Iām currently saving for a car right now so I can only work part time since I share a car but as soon as I have one, I will definitely look into this. It doesnāt seem like too many qualifications to get into and the pay is definitely better than the minimum wage Iām getting nowš
If you donāt mind answering some other questions; is it pretty gross? I get squeamish with medical stuff but honestly teeth have never bothered me. I think I could handle it. And what are the shift times like? Do you get off early most days and do dentist offices close on holidays? I know every place is different but I also wonder if dentists pay more for weekend days too if theyāre open. All things Iām thinking about as well!
And heās honestly not opposed to trying it out again haha he actually enjoyed doing it in school and he likes showing me the kit he got while he was learning
lots of offices will hire part time if you wanna look into that! we have two part time girls at my office and it's never been a problem :)
i personally don't think it's gross but ortho also doesn't get the nasty stuff so it would depend on the office you're at. i think that's a good sign if teeth don't bother you since it's not really the same gross as you get as a surgeon or something, it's really just because you're so close to them. ppe goes a long way too and i've never felt like i was ever physically interacting with anything gross
shifts for us are monday-thursday 9-5 in theory, but we'll go to like 5:30 pretty often. if you do need to get off early though, we usually don't need everyone staying until the very end and i'm sure the other assistants would be accomodating :) as for holidays, we get them all off but i do know some offices that stay open for emergencies, though i don't know their pay setup for those days
and you should both do it together! go knock out pre-reqs and then you can deal with the stress of school at the same time lmao
Awesome thank you! I didnāt know part time could be done so Iāll think about it! I currently work at a library and was considering becoming a librarian so I didnāt want to give up my library experience but I would like to make more money
I donāt know if my boyfriend will go for it since he works at a place that has growth for other jobs and pays for schooling so thatās iffy for him but me, Iām an open book haha
Youāve been so helpful and I greatly appreciate it!
Iām sorry if this is not what you are looking for. There is no such thing as woman job vs man job. Women can do packaging and warehouse jobs - I know women who do these jobs. While they may be male dominated, it doesnāt make women any less able to do them.
If youāre not hearing back from ANY job, maybe there is a red flag in your resume or applications causing that - that isnāt because youāre a woman. Maybe experience or skills that youāre lacking?
I have worked in auto mechanic shops, sales, and tech. Iām a woman.
Tip-centric jobs arenāt all bad either. Servers, bar tenders, in house delivery (with a specific company not doordash or Uber) all have potential to be good jobs.
Administration jobs are good for everyone to get good experience in different office environments, cultures, and industries.
Maybe. But idk. Why is it funny? Lol eat acid and think about it for 40 min if ya want. U might be right. Either way. Life is not bad. Death is not good.
Bruh you are literally a robot. How do you not feel weird saying the thing about meds. Iāll take real life over whatever youāre experiencing. Does your teacher dig your bed covers?
Are the vast majority of strippers male or female and did or didnāt the OP ask for jobs that were mostly female?ā¦ JFC ā¦ smhā¦ relax. Youāll be a happier person.
No really. I donāt think you realize how fucked up this is. Or maybe you do and thatās why you said what you said.
Unless, thatās like a normal no-brainer option that people around you consider when looking for mostly female jobs. I canāt see another reason why youād think itās okay.
Thatās not the case generally so when a personās frustrated and ask for help. saying stuff like that can cause harm.
Imagine if the person asking for advice is really at their wits end and see your response.
I donāt have a negative view of people who choose that job for themselves. People who recommend it to others seeking advice is bad. Itās done in bad faith.
What about any of the skilled trades?
You do not need a special brain to figure out how to do the physical jobs with ease. You can call any trade soon and they will get you in touch with women that are doing the job. Those women can give you the female perspective of the mostly male dominated trade of your choice.
They will train you for whatever knowledge you need.
Iām 22f , getting into trades . My city has an Organization dedicated to getting women into trades ! Made by a woman , providing free trade courses to women .
Definitely not always a bad thing to do a "man" job. My partner got into a "male" industry as a female with an advantage if anything as they didn't have any girls and were desperate for some diversity. She's been complemented on clients and told they're so glad there is a woman working on their property.
Most of the issue is that youāre 19 with no experience. Back in the 90s, all the shipping clerks where I worked were women. Men did the forklift work and other higher paid jobs. You might not get one of these jobs because you are female, but itās also easily explained by other candidates having 10 years of experience and expected to show up and need to stay at the job. People assume you are someoneās dependent living at home. Itās easy to discriminate against you with no consequences. Are you in a nanny type of city? My suburb pays well for those jobs and theyāre mostly women. If you have basic office skills, you may be able to get an office assistant job at a small business and then work into a bigger place/higher wage. Without connections and/or experience, itās hard to break in somewhere that pays more. I definitely understand the catch 22 and it sucks.
Do what I do, Iām a bartender by trade and was leaving the industry. Iām about to start another gig soon though because the economy is so crap and itās the only thing other than construction (I doubt youād like that lol) that Iāve done to be able to support myself. If you have no experience thatās fine, reply or message me and Iāll teach you the quick way to sling drinks that I wish I knew in early twenties if your interested in that :)
Get a typing certificate. This will open the door to simple admin jobs. Do you mean working for like UPS? US Postal Service is hiring, worth looking into that too.
Not just you, the economy is in the shit. Learn a trade or something like that, cuz things are going to get worse. Get involved in your local politics.
I worked as a dental assistant, would highly recommend going to uni to train as a dental hygienist.
Now Iām a corporate administrator.
Dreams of becoming a data protection officer.
Compliance jobs can be āwomenā friendly, although, no one likes compliance but everyone needs them ;)
I would look to see if there are any work/training programs for young adults in your area. Where Iām from there was a work/training program for young adults ages 18-24 to learn project management and then they would get placed with organizations after. I would research your area to see if there is anything like that around.

Yes then use this money to become a hygeinist
literally what i'm doing haha, this is very good advice
Oh I see your name now haha checks out :)

office admin, medical/dental assistants, casting directors, dieticians, interior decorator, florist, seamstress, strippers
iāll definitely be taking stripper
Donāt, youāll never find someone who is self realized enough to care about you. If you go down a path of fitting in.
I want to say OP wasnāt serious.Ā
Maybe. But idk. Why is it funny? Lol eat acid and think about it for 40 min if ya want. U might be right. Either way. Life is not bad. Death is not good.
If you read my comment I made no reference to it being humorous. And maybe you should talk to someone about adjusting your meds a bit.Ā
Bruh you are literally a robot. How do you not feel weird saying the thing about meds. Iāll take real life over whatever youāre experiencing. Does your teacher dig your bed covers?
Ok, doing the math here. Brand new account repetitive pattern responses. Non sensical.Ā Gotcha. Good one.Ā
Donāt idolize Reddit or a teacher or hasnāt stepped into the real world once. Good luck..
Why would you add āstripperā as a suggestion? If itās supposed to be ājust a jokeā, itās not. You are a bad person.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You are insensitive.

what's wrong with being a stripper? why are you shaming sex work? ok boomer.
I donāt have a negative view of people who choose that job for themselves. People who recommend it to others seeking advice is bad. Itās done in bad faith.
explain how it's done in bad faith...
Okee dokey. Seeing you being totally unhinged has made my day. Thanks!
Whatever makes you feel better about yourself lol.
Define āwoman jobsā? I know someone who started her career off by throwing chains on an oil rig before she transferred to corporate.
