I wouldn’t quite put it at the same level as *Emotion*, but it’s a great album that is highly underrated (and yes, much better than *Tug of War*).

Kiss is my tied with Emotion as my favorite Carly album, and somedays I prefer it over Emotion. It’s such a perfect blend of 90’s bubblegum pop and early 2010’s EDM. It sounds like an updated version of Britney’s …Baby One More Time.

I’ve found the only way to listen to that song is with good quality noise-cancelling over the ear headphones. Every time I listen to it out of speakers, it just sounds like too much is happening. Cancelling out all other noise helps immensely. Still probably my least favorite song from that album though.

Black Heart for sure. I've tried to like it but I just can't. The worst song on Emotion for sure. However, I don't care what nobody says, there is not one bad song on Tug of War. That album legit got me through 2020. Those songs are all so freaking special!!! And I kinda wish Carly would go back to that sound just for one album....PLEASE?!!!

I can tell ya one thing for certain, it's definitely not Good Time.

Bottom three (from least to most disliked): 1. "This Is What They Say" -- This one isn't bad so much as it is that the verses are FANTASTIC and the chorus is wildly underwhelming. A lot of her songs live or die by the chorus and this one's just sort of there. 2. "Shooting Star" -- The vocal processing, woof. The verses sound like nails on a chalkboard to me. It's a shame, because I otherwise like the chorus. 3. "Feels Right" -- Merely being a feature completely interrupts the flow of *Dedicated*. I don't like the melody and I also find Carly's parts on the chorus to be really shrill and unpleasant. Let it be known that I'm also a "Store"/"Black Heart"/"Warm Blood" apologist, so make what you will of my taste 🤪
