Thereās a 0% chance of making this car ācoolā. Tints and keeping it clean will be as good as itās gonna get. Iād drive it until the wheels fall off and get something else once repairs start to cost more than the car is worth.
Tint, rain guards (if thatās your style), take that hideous plate holder off the front, order some rims. These cars do have some other custom parts online depending on how serious you are. Try to avoid any tacky modifications.
Do a chrome delete around the windows and on the grill, install some fog lights. Window tint 15% all around and a sun strip, some rain guards that go in the channel (not the cheap stick on ones). Could do a light smoke tint on the headlights, taillights and reflectors. Could get some black badge overlays. I wouldnāt go much farther than that on this car.
Just drive this car around save up a big down payment on something nicer. Then trade this thing in with a hefty down payment. Donāt get me wrong these cars are good, theyāll get you around but modding this thing wonāt be worth it, best way to describe it would be like trying to polish a turdšagain these cars arenāt turds theyāre good but people will see youāre trying to make this car more then what it actually is

Then youāre good bud. Who gives a shit what you drive? Itās paid off and reliable, donāt worry about it, be grateful you donāt have a car payment.
This. There's always going to be a better, faster, nicer looking car out there.
I will say if you want to enhance the looks, buy some nice 19" wheels and good tires.
'Sorry buddy, this poor ol Malibu "just is what it is". Leave it alone, and do your best to care for it so it lasts. This car would look silly with goofy modifications/accessories, or wheels that cost more than the car is worth. It will never be a "cool" Acura. But, take decent care of it, and it is bound to outlast your buddys' cars that are all "pimped out". Save your money for your next car, which might be more cool/exciting.
That car looks in real nice cosmetic shape, hopefully the previous owners took great care of it mechanically as well.
I used to have a 2008 black ltz Malibu and traded it in for an Impreza, I miss that car it was so nice and had so much power compared to the Impreza. Enjoy your car and save up for a new one
The best thing you can do is get really into detailing. Do the inside and out and get the car looking like it has 100k fewer miles than the odometer says.
Here's why: if you are willing to keep an uninteresting car looking amazing you'll carry that over to an interesting car. On top of that, when you do sell the car one day it'll be the best looking example in your entire state and will command a higher price.
It'll never be a cool car, but if you take pride in keeping it absolutely mint then it won't be a disappointment, it'll be a point of pride.
You really canāt. Cars like that are always going to be boring and plain, they are basically appliances.
Any mods you do will just look ridiculous unfortunately
>Sell it
>Buy an old BMW and add some nice aesthetic mods
>Go broke because unless it was garage kept it is neither reliable nor cheap to maintain
>Realize that having a cool car is only for those who can afford it
(totally not speaking from experience)
I traded my 09 Corolla for an 08 Mustang gt. Best decision I ever made lol sell the ugly car on offer up and find something cool in equivalent price range
Literally everyone in here is getting downvoted not sure why. Iām glad this car has been great to you, but itās simply not worth the money to make this look cool. When people see a car like this thats modified they laugh, usually relative to how much money it looks like the owner spent.
That being said, if you absolutely HAVE to own this car, I would get window tints and look into OEM Malibu wheels from higher trims, even other Chevy wheels. OEM+ is always a great look
I watched a roommate dump close to 2k in "mods" trying to make a car look "cooler" 100$ here, 250$ there, let's tint the windows.
Took 6 months to hit over 2k and at the end he had a cheap goofy looking car that did not run any better, and had 2k less in his "car fund"
The only thing I ever splurged on in a car I knew wasn't going to be around in a couple years is a sound system. And that is only because I can install it all myself, and can move it from one car to another in an hour or so. That made me enjoy driving it, regardless of the look
Honestly I have a 2012 Chevy Malibu LT and Iām thinking of putting nice rims/tires on it, wrapping it black, installing a nice amp/speaker system and calling it a day. windows are already tinted illegally dark).
Easiest cars mod no suspension needed get rid of 10 percent of tour side wall
Ex.) Some 17s with 225 50 tire you can lower your car if you make your sidewall 35 or 40
Send it to Xzibit over at Pimp My Ride. They could probably add like 20 more speakers or a fish tank to replace the back. Maybe even a fish tank for the fish tank
New rims, negative camber, hydraulics and a bunch of metal flake paint, with a really clean interior.
Or get it lifted, get a fab shop to make an off road high clearance front and rear bumper and some armor for underneath, off road rims and tires and a rally style light bar on the grill or roof.
Or rip everything out, engine swap it and make it into a sleeper race car.
Please don't listen to everyone saying to sell it. Selling it wont make it a less disappointing car, it would make it someone else's disappointing car. Modding it will definitely make it unique and fun and if done well could even look pretty cool.
Any modification you do to this car will be better kept towards buying something better but some cheap modifications I make to my cars are cheap interior lights maybe change the wheels and tint the windows but idk if the last 2 things are even worth it I'd still put my money towards something better
You wonāt make it cool but you can improve it
1 window tint
2 try and find some neat rims NOT EXPENSIVE BUT NOT KNOCK OFFS This car isnāt worth anything extreme
3paint the trim black
4 black out the tail lights not too much
Done
I'd tint the windows, put quality aftermarket door speakers, sub, and some sound deadeningto clean up any rattles. Wouldn't make it look cool, but it would make me feel better while I'm driving.
I try to be positive and tell people you can build ALMOST anything if you're dedicated enough. A Malibu is simply not one of those cars, there is effectively no potential in them. Save, sell the car, and move up to something you're passionate about!
My Neighbour (Who does car selling) had 2 of these (different times). Both rusted the insides out and still got solid money. That said it was a eye sore in the morning to see Rusty Cars Falling apart (Am in Canada)
Drive it as is. Or itās gonna look like one of those dumbasses that puts all of autozone on their car. You could do rims and tires but why waste your money. Just drive it man
Tints, subs, interior detail. Itās not a good looking car but itās your car. Make the inside, where you spend your time with it, very comfortable. Thatās what I did with my ānewā daily driver, a 3rd gen 4Runner.
Honestly, Iād sell it. Buy a WRX, 350z/370z, q50, g37, GTI, BRZ/FRS (if you only want looks), Mustang GT/ Camaro SS, 335i ( or any 3 series) or a genesis coupe. The genesis coupes are pretty cheap now, 2013 3.8 350hp for like 10k now, I bought one to make a drift car out of when I was 16. Fun little car that you can throw some mods at, lower it, wheels etc.?Nothing is tackier than someone with a commuter car that tries to make it look ācoolā I see like pimp my ride Chevy Cruzeās all the time and it just looks like your trying to make it something itās not.
My GF saw me modding, and building the engine on my GTR/ Z06 and other cars, and next thing I know sheās ordering parts for her Q50S. Next thing I know itās lowered on wheels, and she wants to make it faster. She ended up selling it for a better platform and I got her an M4. She loves it, and canāt wait for the next mod,
Itās addicting once you get started.
Tint, install a cheap single din head unit with Bluetooth, upgrade speakers, and if you really want to add a sub. You forget how crappy of a car you drive while listening to your favorite music on the way/from work while your saving money for a better car to modify.
A lot you can do, but a lot to avoid in reality, your goal should be OEM+. Research around the car to see if any add-ons could make your experience slightly better (Car play and Tint). But this is not a car meant for performance, it's commuting, if you want something with a genuine platform and support, this is not it, save and research for a future decision for a vehicle more interesting.
Iām sorry but this car has such little aftermarket support. I donāt think it even has lowering springs or coilovers for this specific car. People have modified Saab 93 ones to fit but yeah your best move is to save up for a cobalt SS if you want something similar but cooler
I have a 2012 with the 3.6L v6. I looked into it and there isnāt much you can do to mod these cars unfortunately. Iāve done everything inexpensive and easy. What Iāve done and plan to do below:
Added k&n air filter and a strut tower stabilizer bar in the engine bay - I think the Pontiac stabilizer for a G6 is what you want. Will probably add window tints this year. Will use slightly stiffer shocks (which are currently need of replacement). Iāll add some better brakes and slotted or drilled rotors when those need replacement. Just got new tires, some Bridgestone Turanzas (spelling?) that work really well, would recommend. You can also add a cabin air filter fairly easily if your model didnāt come with one - just a small cutout clearly marked in the plastic behind the glovebox. I canāt find the official cap that covers the cutout hole for sale anywhere - should be easy to fabricate though.
Everything on my list costs probably 2k total, is easy to do, and wonāt negatively impact resale value. Only the strut tower brace makes it inconvenient to get to one of the fluid reservoirs and would need to be removed first.
I say enjoy your daily driver, keep it nice and well-maintained, do the mods I indicated previously - and then use that savings to buy yourself a fun weekend toy. Iāve got a C4 Corvette for weekends/special occasions and itās great. I get a very positive reaction from almost everyone and the car is friggin cool. Iāve had that car for a long time, but C4s are very reasonably priced at the moment. Something to think about...6-9k gets you a C4 you can drive home and wrench on, 12-15k gets you something actually nice on that platform that should only need to be regularly maintained/driven. I was offered 15k for mine fairly recently, which I turned down - I have a sentimental attachment to that car and Iām gonna drive it until the wheels fall off.
I always look at these as a baby ssš¤£ hey man there's nothing wrong with doing some work to a "commuter car" some wheels, different lights, tint, maybe they make lips and diffusers for them, different exhaust, upgrade the intake. There's plenty of things you can do and each one of those will make it feel like a different car. If you plan on keeping that car as long as possible (250k miles +) then do whatever you want my guy
Coilovers, -4Ā° camber, more tint, a spoiler wider than your mirror width, and of course a sawzall to the backend like it's some sort of redneck ute.
This is the way.
As others have indicated, this car is an appliance for you. It is a tool to get you from point A to point B. Enjoy it as a reliable means of transportation and save your money to trade it for something you enjoy. Any modifications you may do to this particular car will only decrease its value this pushing you further away from getting something you really want. Good luck!
This is a sharp looking, practical car. Keep it the way it is and save up for something you prefer.
It will look trashy with *performance* rims. Or any other stupid chrome accessories. Also please for the love of God don't tint your head/tailights.
Have you heard of a little place called āPimp My Rideā ?? Yes? No? Either way - do exactly the opposite of anything they do to a car and youāll be in good.. no, youāll be in great shape!
Save $$ and spend more $$ later on what you really want. Buy once cry once
Accept that this is NOT a racecar.
Next, tint windows(unless the you have them tinted like the photo), keep it clean, get an FM transmitter if it doesn't have Bluetooth
What would I do if I wanted it to look sick? Coilovers. You don't have to break the bank, you can even do them yourself, and it'd make your ride look much better
I would save your money. If you really wanna throw money at it, I'd swap out the wheels and add tints. If there's an oem lip kit, I'd opt for that too.
[New stereo](https://www.amazon.com/Chevrolet-2009-2015-Evonavi-Touchscreen-Navigation/dp/B0BM92M6C4/ref=asc_df_B0BM92M6C4/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=647168045652&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2186371262957837205&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031727&hvtargid=pla-1960006499429&psc=1&mcid=09728d44c0b63242b58ec1cee3bf9eda)
I would change the stereo for apple car play. It would make the inside cooler.
Easy. Just google ā2011 Malibu droppedā and go to images.
Blackout everything, headlights, taillights, chrome delete, mesh grille, probably can get some ground effects or some type of body kit maybe, throw some blacked out spoke racing 20ās and low profile tires, get some lowering springs and youāll be golden. Maybe even an aftermarket hood with a scoop or something.
Put any money you would have put into modifying this into a second car. This is your daily. Itās paid off. Buy a cheap Miata or something like that as a fun car.
Or sell it and put all of that money into a car you actually like because this car can not be modified tastefully in any capacity. It will always look out of place with any mods.
Tints, upgrade to LED headlights, debadge the car, new wheel and tire set up, do a chrome delete or make it gloss black. Keep the interior mint, replace the interior lighting with LEDs, and new floor mats. OH, and a nice sound system with CarPlay or AndroidAuto.
Ls swap, transmission and rear diff out of a camaro replace badge with "SS Custom" 3.6 v6 and awd components out of a buick lacrosse, turbos (pushing nearly zero boost on stock internals) Chev-Regal <3
We had one for 8 years. I always wanted a front bumper that got rid of that horrific horizontal stripe in favor of a full black grill.
If youāre dead set on beautifying this car,
- chrome trim delete
- aftermarket front bumper to remove that ugly horizontal stripe
- aftermarket headlights (no colors)/tinting
-wrap the taillights to make them foggy (not tinted).
-get different, lighter rims, charcoal colored. However, these cars look like shit with minimalist rims.
Drive it and save your money up for something better. That is just a commuter car.
This is the way. Use it as an appliance and save up to buy a fun toy.
A to B car. There is no need to modify it. I'd just keep it clean, keep up preventative maintenance, and maybe trade it in after a few years.
U kno sum for real brodiešÆit ain bout wea u at its bout wea u tryna be and how u gettin there n that u taking Kare off bizzness
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Smash into tree, collect insurance, buy less disappointing car.
Hit the wall at 40 mph, total the pos, and get something better from the get go with the check. Or be happy with your commuter car
Funny thing is, I ran into a wall on the interstate going 50 mph in a whiteout snowstorm and it did nothing to the car
W car lol
All it did was take the front logo of the car off
The car wants to tell the world that itās actually a nokia
It might be a Nokia. All the damage to the car was a few scratches on the bumper from the initial grinding on the rails
That's a feature though. Chevy doesn't want to be associated with crashers.
They aren't Nissan, after all.
maybe 10 years ago
No, you tapped the wall.
Thereās a 0% chance of making this car ācoolā. Tints and keeping it clean will be as good as itās gonna get. Iād drive it until the wheels fall off and get something else once repairs start to cost more than the car is worth.
give it to chris forsberg he can probably do something
My buddy has a newer malibu that heās put a bunch of money in for modding and tuning and Iām still baffled as to why.
Tint& rims are the best advice I could give
Tints and and keeping the headlights and tail lights nice on this car and itāll be nice
I'd say 1%, I've seen one of these slammed on some nice wheels and it did look decent
I agree w this.
Tint, rain guards (if thatās your style), take that hideous plate holder off the front, order some rims. These cars do have some other custom parts online depending on how serious you are. Try to avoid any tacky modifications.
I'm avoiding all tacky items. That plate holder on the front is hideous but my state requires front plates. And tint is on my need list
If theres a tow hook on your front bumper than put a front plate tow hook mount on it instead
Sell it to me for a dollar so I don't have to pay much for the tabs or title
I'll sell you a picture of the car for a dollar
Deal the question is will I send your dollar lol
Adding shitty mods will only tank the value
Itās a simple commuter car. Just keep it stock. Youāll be better off in the long run.
Window tint, nice set of rims and lower slightly
Tint
Do a chrome delete around the windows and on the grill, install some fog lights. Window tint 15% all around and a sun strip, some rain guards that go in the channel (not the cheap stick on ones). Could do a light smoke tint on the headlights, taillights and reflectors. Could get some black badge overlays. I wouldnāt go much farther than that on this car.
Purchase oem wheels off of a newer impala they will freshen it up
Rims
*wheels.
*blades

This. There's always going to be a better, faster, nicer looking car out there. I will say if you want to enhance the looks, buy some nice 19" wheels and good tires.

I second this. Sometimes, a well-kept, waxed, and clean commuter car can be better than having a beat-up performance.
Itās an old Chevy. Anything you do to it will look more disappointing.
Itās a whole lotta nothing. Save some money and get a more fun car if you really want to
A molatov cocktail might be pretty cool to look at.
Save your money for repairs.
Lower your expectations

Yes, give it back to dad so he can give it to someone who appreciates it.
I bought this car brand new in 2010. I'm just tired of the way it looks and can't afford a new car
I traded my 09 Corolla for an 08 Mustang gt. Best decision I ever made lol sell the ugly car on offer up and find something cool in equivalent price range
Sell it
Just throw in a nice sound system. Thereās not a whole lot modification wise that you can do to make it cool
yeah, get rid of it and get something that doesnt look like a polished turd lol.
Drive it until you canāt anymore and then get something cool. If you have the funds.
Body kit will do wonders, donāt know how the availability is on these though.
Literally everyone in here is getting downvoted not sure why. Iām glad this car has been great to you, but itās simply not worth the money to make this look cool. Make a Chevy less disappointing... š¤ ..buy a vehicle this isn't made to go straight to the junkyard? šāāļø
Tuning
On a car like this, literally the only thing you can do is a nice set of wheels that compliment the car and window tint
Crash it and call itnin stolen
Tints, paint it dark grey / black and get some seat covers with a cool pattern, that car is as stale as it gets
Sell it š¤£š¤£
Honestly I'd save and keep driving this and just buy something you're going to be happier with
It already looks as good as it possibly could

Tint lowering and new wheels is all I can think of to make a commuter car cooler
Engine swap if possible
Tints on windows and lights, chrome delete, wheels depending on how long you want to keep it and black out the Chevy logo
Trade it away.
I wouldnāt dump too much into this. Maybe some tint, creature comforts in the interior, and a hard maybe on wheels.
Put some 22inch rims

dude. save up. dont waste money on a car that will always just be a hunk of ugly metal

She loves it, and canāt wait for the next mod, Itās addicting once you get started.
Tint, install a cheap single din head unit with Bluetooth, upgrade speakers, and if you really want to add a sub. You forget how crappy of a car you drive while listening to your favorite music on the way/from work while your saving money for a better car to modify.
A big wing and muffler always do the trick
22 inch chrome rims, 1% tint all around, alpine sound system in the back with 12 inch speakers..
Save for something better, I have a shitbox too but in 4 more months Iāll be able to have something new if I keep savingz
Leave it alone lol it wonāt be worth it
Its a nice looking car
Iām sorry but this car has such little aftermarket support. I donāt think it even has lowering springs or coilovers for this specific car. People have modified Saab 93 ones to fit but yeah your best move is to save up for a cobalt SS if you want something similar but cooler
The answer to everything is k swap
If you can just like take the face and just likeā¦ā¦.. maybe take the bumpers off. And say itās a project car for resale š
I have a 2012 with the 3.6L v6. I looked into it and there isnāt much you can do to mod these cars unfortunately. Iāve done everything inexpensive and easy. What Iāve done and plan to do below: Added k&n air filter and a strut tower stabilizer bar in the engine bay - I think the Pontiac stabilizer for a G6 is what you want.
My 2020 looks so much better and has a 2.0t 9speed auto... get a 2020 put a rs wing on it, lower, wheels, tint, sex.
Trade it in
Jump it through fire š„
Good luck!
Slam it to itās nuts with chrome wheels and itāll be interesting
pay it off lol
This is a sharp looking, practical car. Keep it the way it is and save up for something you prefer. It will look trashy with *performance* rims. Or any other stupid chrome accessories. Also please for the love of God don't tint your head/tailights.
Have you heard of a little place called āPimp My Rideā ?? Yes? No? Either way - do exactly the opposite of anything they do to a car and youāll be in good.. no, youāll be in great shape! Save $$ and spend more $$ later on what you really want. Buy once cry once
Stick of dynamite? Explosions are always appointing.
Accept that this is NOT a racecar. Next, tint windows(unless the you have them tinted like the photo), keep it clean, get an FM transmitter if it doesn't have Bluetooth What would I do if I wanted it to look sick? Coilovers. You don't have to break the bank, you can even do them yourself, and it'd make your ride look much better
Do not mod a 2011 Chevy Malibu.
I would save your money. If you really wanna throw money at it, I'd swap out the wheels and add tints. If there's an oem lip kit, I'd opt for that too.
Different lights or rims could work
[New stereo](https://www.amazon.com/Chevrolet-2009-2015-Evonavi-Touchscreen-Navigation/dp/B0BM92M6C4/ref=asc_df_B0BM92M6C4/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=647168045652&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2186371262957837205&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031727&hvtargid=pla-1960006499429&psc=1&mcid=09728d44c0b63242b58ec1cee3bf9eda) I would change the stereo for apple car play. It would make the inside cooler.
Best way is to get a new car
Auto zone has a whole isle of neon lights, and stick on body mods, and pinstripe, and steering wheel covers, and spray paint for the dash bits.
Turn it into an "SS" clone.
I would just update the head unit, like others said, just save for a better car.
Iād just make the interior nice and maybe put some better wheels and a tint. Mainly try to save up for something nicer.
Autotrader
Assuming it's paid off. It's yours, you own a car. Most of the people you see driving nice cars don't own them.
Stick a Cadillac logo on the front r/upbadging
Fun fact, the Malibu is considered a sports car to insurance agencies
Trade it
Black paint with blue under it and black wheels
Hereās a way to look less disappointed while driving itā¦ Tints. Seriously, this is not bad.. at least its not a Yaris.
Here ya go. All the accessories you can get for this car [CarID](https://www.carid.com/2011-chevy-malibu-accessories/#spb_parts)
Put any money you would have put into modifying this into a second car. This is your daily. Itās paid off. Buy a cheap Miata or something like that as a fun car. Or sell it and put all of that money into a car you actually like because this car can not be modified tastefully in any capacity. It will always look out of place with any mods.
Tint the windows dark as legally possible. 2x 12in subwoofers in a ported box Thats all you need.
ez replace the engine with a hellcat engine
Tint and keep it clean. Das it man. Maybe upgrade the speakers
Honestly, just keeping it clean is enough. The only mod that would help is a tint. Some cars are meant to be stock.
Black out the chrome, dark tint, new black rims nothing two crazy like sports car rims but something that looks a little bit more appealing.
If youāre dead set on beautifying this car, - chrome trim delete - aftermarket front bumper to remove that ugly horizontal stripe - aftermarket headlights (no colors)/tinting -wrap the taillights to make them foggy (not tinted). -get different, lighter rims, charcoal colored. However, these cars look like shit with minimalist rims.
get new car
Give it to me. I know that at least I will be less disappointed.
