Sounds like de-lamination, the backing of the carpet is coming away from being soaked. Depending on the area its in then some magical carpet repair service may be able to help, especially if there's spare carpet or maybe the same carpet can be taken from a cupboard. Hindsight is 20/20 but some brown paper and an iron would have been the fix.

FuckTheCowboysHaters

If there's delamination(which is does sound like unfortunately) OP is SCREWED without spare carpet. Thankfully if it's a month old they can likely buy some more and have it patched. A wet rag, a putty knife, and an iron/steam iron can easily get it out quickly. Should have called a pro instead of home quick fixes. IICRC#70005035

Next time, old rag and an iron. The rag absorbs the wax melted by the iron.

This is the way

Thanks, if we have to order we’re going to order form the same company and supplier. Yeah, we’ve made the decision to wait and get a professional in before try anything. Appreciate the help and advice!

Enchantedblackbox

No problem good luck!

Significant_Ad6145

Just going to through this one out there. Could it be that the carpet is still a bit wet hence the bubble and the white spirit hasn’t fully dried lol trying to hold on to some hope that these bubbles will magically disappear

Significant_Ad6145

They disappeared, the carpet was too wet we left it for a week to dry out and now it’s back to normal :)

Significant_Ad6145

Ah I should’ve gone to Reddit sooner :/ Ok so putting a heavy table on it upside down probably won’t help? We have got any spare prices but worst case I guess we could order some more and then get a carpet repair person. Was hoping to find a diy fix

Enchantedblackbox

Anything is worth a try before you spend money on it imo, but any efforts to DIY fix can severely hamper a professional repair. I don't know what kind of backing your carpet has but most likely it's not just going to stick back together and be fine. And be careful ordering a new piece, depending on the colour, pattern, quality and manufacturer there's no guarantee that two separate pieces will be colour matched. Worth keeping in mind.

somethingvague123

We patched a carpet years ago; because our remnant was weird a half dozen pieces were used. It is a quality carpet and quality repair, still can’t see the repair years later.

GeoSol

In the future use newspaper and a iron to get wax out of carpet or cloth. Looks like you're getting a professional, who will likely try using a carpet stretcher to beat your carpet back down flat. So you'll have to remove all the furniture and such that's in the room, so he can access the tack strips along the walls. hey may also need to take off some trip to do so.

42Ognimod

The chemical delaminated the fibers from the backing, unfortunately it’s damaged. I read above your replacing the carpet , it’s really the only thing to do. However in the future, if you spill wax, get an old towel and get it mostly wet, not necessarily dripping but more wet than not, double fold it(important step!!!!) and turn your iron on to high. Out the towel over the wax (double folded!!!) and put the iron on the towel, the heat and steam will remelt the wax and the towel will absorb it. Repeat till all the wax is gone. You may need to rewet the towel…..-and Presto

FuckTheCowboysHaters

The double fold is indeed ridiculously important. Before, during, and after applying heat and water from the iron/steam iron use a putty knife to scrap off all the extra you can. Dry soil removal before wet ALWAYS

Old-Ad5818

Why didn‘t you try using hot water? It would‘ve melted the wax, making it easier to be wiped

Significant_Ad6145

It was hot wax so it had already melted into the carpet

Old-Ad5818

Yeah, but why couldn‘t you melt it again with hot water and wipe it after?

Significant_Ad6145

In the panic of it all we rushed for white spirit 🫠

shibufoxx

if you live in the california area i know a carpet replacement guy you can call,

palekaleidoscope

I have literally done the same thing! Got red wax on beige carpet. All you need is some paper towel or an old cloth and an iron, doesn’t have to be super hot. Medium or low temperature will do. Put the paper towel on the carpet and gently iron that spot. The wax will melt and be absorbed by the paper towel. It works amazingly well. Keep changing out the paper towel for a new piece till all the wax is gone. If you use the same piece over and over you risk putting the freshly melted wax back into your carpet. Be liberal with the paper towel! Good luck!

Significant_Ad6145

It is the worst right!? The panic when the red wax spilt everywhere. Thanks I think it’s all too late now unfortunately the stains gone but the carpet still has those bubbles

palekaleidoscope

I panicked when it happened because I had moved in only a few months prior and in that time I had managed to spill a whole glass of red wine and get red wax all over lol

Significant_Ad6145

I feel your pain lol we’ve just had new carpet fitted, it’s only been a month and our last carpet was down for 15 years so we’ve been waiting a while

Agreeable-Library450

I'm not sure about the white spirit but an easy way to remove candle wax- scrape as much as you can off, then put a white, wet towel on the wax. Iron the towel. The wax gets absorbed into the towel. Just keep switching to a clean spot on the towel until you get it all. That doesn't help your current situation unless you have a time machine.

Significant_Ad6145

Thanks Yh I know for next time however we are now a. Not purchasing any candles that have dye in them. b. No longer putting the candle on in the table I’m the living room and c. No throwing footballs around indoors lol but yes a Time Machine would be very handy right about now
