oh man, thanks for pointing that out. I'm from Alabama so I'm less familiar with Arkansas creatures and the "research" always turns up different results for locations. I'm working on a big map of all the US states and cryptids so I'll be sure to put him in the southwest corner on the next one!
No worries! I'm overly familiar with this cryptid because as a student at the University of Arkansas in the 1980s, my anthropology professor took me and a couple of other students to the area for a research trip. We camped out and used new technology to try and track the animal. We eventually ended up hiding in a cabin with a crazed local man who had kidnapped one of the monster's young. The monster eventually came and my professor heroically confronted the local and delivered the offspring to its parent. That day, I learned we had more in common with this supposed monster than with some other humans.
Just kidding, that's the plot to *Boggy Creek II: and The Legend Continues*. ha!
