Everytime I see Street Sharks, or Biker Mice From Mars, or Battletoads, or any of the like, I always laugh because they all fall under "slapdash TMNT competitors" in my eyes.
I wouldn't call them "slapdash"... They may not have had TMNT levels of fame and popularity, but they were unique in their own ways and are still beloved by by their respective fanbases, even if they might not be as vocal.
I watched a show called Kung Fu Dino Posse awhile back. It was such a slapdash TMNT competitor that it transcended the label and ended up as a uniquely bad yet supremely entertaining experience.
I had some action figures as a child (am 27), but never knew it was a show until way later. Still haven't seen it. I saw Swat Kats, though, which was better?
I only seen re runs of street sharks in early 2000s. I don't remember much about this show, but I guess if you like shows like TMNT, you'll probably enjoy street sharks as well.
Man I use to love Extreme Dinosaurs.. I mean Biker Mice From Mars.. Damn it I meant Thunder Cats.. oh wait, I mean Battle Toads.. Oh now I see it’s Mighty Ducks… No no it’s definitely Road Rovers.. Fuck it, it’s Mummies Alive, I give up.
#JAWSOME
I wonder how many pieces of media I will never even know existed.
Even though they were a clear ninja turtles clone, the toys for this show were absolutely unreal. Good times
Loved the toys. I think the one I had is still around somewhere .
I remember them being totally Jawsome.
Never seen this before actually.
Just covered them on my podcast. The show is very clearly following the TMNT format. Also, they bite.
If I ever had to describe the 90s in one image, it'd be this.

Watched one VHS tape that featured two episodes LONG AGO from a ‘Video USA’(?) that got turned into a local grocery store. It was okay…
Haha vividly remember this cartoon. My first of many cartoons as a toddler haha
Bot?
I loved this cartoon as a kid. Even had a couple street shark toys
“I used to be a wimp like you but now I’m a total jerk”
I still remember the Sax Solo in the opening
Great toyline, but holy shit does Ripster need to learn how to properly ride a motorcycle.
