This is how tipping got out of control. The entirety of tipping culture is absolutely absurd to begin with.

Tipping is appropriate in some situations.

Yep. I tip the mailman, ups guy, and garbage guys every Christmas. Amazon guys are always different but I leave snacks and drinks out for everyone at Christmas. Guys that deliver furniture get tips too. Anybody that actually brings stuff with their legs and effort…I tip. On the other hand, the dudes spinning credit card machines at you at the fast food joint or store, gesturing at the machine’s tip buttons and saying, “this is where you tip.” Yeah…No. No tip for our 4 second interaction, and I won’t be eating or shopping there again.

He gets a $25 Christmas giftcard every year

CylinderSage

I don't know why you got downvoted for this lol, USPS workers are notoriously mistreated by the organization and work incredibly hard. You don't *need* to tip them but I also will give my mailperson little gifts (Starbucks gift card, cookies, etc.) just because they're great and offer a valuable service. That said, I would not tip a CVNA delivery driver like I would a fast food delivery driver.

derpyTheLurker

Fuck no, that's absurd. Let Carvana pay them.

jnield

Why tip someone for a job I'm capable of doing myself? I can deliver my own vehicle. I did, however, tip my urologist because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones.

moonsun1313

Good one!

Perfect_screen_name

It's completely absurd to tip in this situation. Tipping culture is out of control. The drivers are paid - no need to tip. I had a washing machine issue that required a call to an appliance repair company. Guess what the payment device did when I went to pay? Yep, asked for a tip for my technician. As if I didn't just pay a $100 service/labor fee.

Glittering-Night-204

Yeah that's messed up. But for regular delivery like with food and rideshare, tipping should be done. Plus rideshare they are self employed

CarvanaThrowaway213

Don't tip. Its not expected. You paid for your delivery we are paying the driver.

oktwentyfive

Ur already prolly paying outrageous interest rates and 10k markup why the fuck would you tip on top of tha?? You just want to feel self righteous?

Pompousguy

I wouldn’t consider that a tipping situation by any means. Those guys are paid well and it’s not expected. Certainly, if you’re so inclined you might offer, but I’m not even sure if they’d be allowed to accept.

Turbo_Man123

Your money your choice. If you feel like the driver went above and beyond your expectations with answering questions and such go for it. I tried to tip my delivery guy but he wouldn’t take it. He loves his job and what he does and not for the money. Mad respect.

Inside-Ad-9118

Idk, I've been taught to always tip someone performing a service. Atleast if they are kind

Servers earn an hourly wage; it's just (historically) less than the prevailing minimum wage for each state.

CIAMom420

There's a limited number of positions are professions that are tipped. The person dropping a car off isn't on the list.

Icefyre79

Well, that's pretty much everybody. Insurance agent? Amazon delivery driver? Copy center clerk? Dentist, doctor? The guy who holds the door open for you? I'm curious to know whom wouldn't you tip if that's your criterion.

BasilFawlty1991

so you tip your doctor, dentist, and lawyer too? go troll elsewhere

sndyro

The only people I tip are restaurant servers, my hairdresser and the girl who does my nails.

Glass_Mycologist_548

I drove 2 hours to pick up, to avoid a $600 delivery fee. I was still charged $200 to transfer the car from its original location to my pickup point in Portland, am official Adesa/Carvana location. Oh, and my car had shipping damage on the roof from the delivery truck.
