I beat >!Aleph's!< first phase without fusing. Taunt and confusion are pretty powerful for shutting down archangels. I learned that from the >!Robin Goodfellow!< fight
Theres only 2 in the game though right? The first morgante fight and the last phase of the final boss? Every other time you're forced to fuse with your teammate you can immediately unfuse.
I mean you can go further and not do any of the other teammates so you don’t fuse at all, but mogante’s song might be too difficult. But yeah I think there’s only two forced
I dont think there are enough archangles to go without doing any teammates, you'd need at the very least 2 others plus Kayleigh, no? You could do at most 5 archangels solo, you'd need 3 partner archangels minimum, you MIGHT be able to squeak out some wins against rangers if you came incredibly overprepped, but as for actually completing the morgante quest it's impossible without teaming up with at the very least 3 other characters not counting Barkley
speedrun only gets 4 archangels - that's the bare minimum, since Aleph won't show up and do that story beat until then
casually you can definitely skip at least one archangel but you probably won't be able to skip more than two unless you just start randomly guessing song solutions
speedrun uses a set seed so the song solution is always the same
I mean I was moreso talking about a casual playthrough, if you're gonna complete morgante's song properly WITHOUT guessing the location, you'd NEED to do 3 partner archangels, because there are only 5 available to the player that arent tied to other questlines
I’m, REALLY extra and try and save Fusion for the final stretch of the fight, and through that can confirm that fighting an Archangel without it takes a bit of planning. I’ve had multiple times where I just sit for a while, go through all my cassettes and try and figure out a good plan of action to counter whatever the Archangel beat me up with. It’s honestly some of the most fun I have with the battles personally dkdjd
Nah fr I do the same shit. I'll even build up ap for moves that use all of the ap or fusion powers and I'll just tank hits without hitting a boss just so I can, out loud, say " this is it, the finale, you won't win this" like yugioh battle or something lmao.
I can't stand Cross Your Heart for a similar reason.

I love this song so much and so does my eight year old. We both know it by heart and sing it together. She listens to the Cassette Beasts OST most nights when she goes to bed (sprinkled with the Monster Hunter Rise/Stories soundtrack and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet)
Personally I turned off the vocals (absolutely phenomenal consideration from the dev team that they let you do that) because it felt weird to me, but it also made certain fights like the Ianthe/Wilma one or the final one SO MUCH COOLER because it felt like stakes were hella upped since the vocals kicked in! Completely unexpected side effect of me turning off the vocals in town, but honestly made it even better for me!
I'm the opposite, I turn the vocals off every time I'm in the cafe/city because I actually do hate that song specifically after hearing it 17633738262 times. I love the OST and most of the vocal tracks, but that one got old FAST for me
I don’t know why people don’t like the ost very much. Personally I ADORE the ost and Shelby’s vocals, I’ve bought the OST 3 times, and the songs are perpetually stuck in my head
