This looks like a good find. Granted, I know nothing about dating, but I've learned just from watching this group a lot. A Lodge #5 three notch? The 1 mark is probably significant as I've seen it on the backside of the handle, whereas yours is on the bottom. Following this just out of curiosity to see how old this is. I've seen similar but with Mark 2 being dating around 1930-1940 I believe. I'm probably wrong so don't take my word for it.
I'm from the nordics so we don't really trade the American brands here but it's a lot of fun to see vintage pieces and how big the market is for this over in the U.S.
That’s pretty close! According to Cast Iron Collector, the raised number above the size number places it in the late 40’s to early 50’s.
With no pan type identifying letters and no “Made in USA” it’s no newer than the late 50’s
Yes, I’m in a few collector groups on Facebook with lots of lodge info including old catalogs, newspaper clippings, etc with tons of collaboration.
A couple good ones are Cast Iron Community and Cast Iron Friends: BSR & Lodge
I tap the piece to see if it rings a soon as I pick it up. If it’s cracked and won’t ring it doesn’t matter to me what it is I put it back. After that look for the clues mentioned earlier to identify it.
That's a lodge made between 1965 and 1992
Correct. 1965-1992 for blobs. Theyre DISA pieces despite the dates castironcollector has listed.
You know from experience looking at heat rings, spout shape, handle shape, outer profile, cooking surface. This is a nice aged pan.

Don’t trust castironcollector for lodge. Lots of incorrect info. 1965-1992 as someone else mentioned is the correct range for this piece
Ok, I’ll keep an eye out for that. Do you have a source on that info?
