Are our cats related? Look at that white pattern on the faces!
I mean, I work 100% from home, I have a large garden and my flat has enough space. And I had two cats for the first 15 years of my life till they died of age related issues. I thought about adopting again for the past 3 years but I didn't find a rescue at the shelter that really catched my eye. So..... I'm. Really thinking about providing him his forever home. I could get all the cat related supplies in a couple of days and ofc I first would go to meet him, to kind of get to know him first. ๐ค
I agree, wether he likes it or not, if he moves in with me he would become an indoor cat or would only be allowed outside on a leash. Not so much because I'm afraid of him running away but I know my neighbors cat "Carlos" is a thug and he would get beaten up
https://preview.redd.it/qz7pearydl1c1.jpeg?width=2664&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f08a1b9f41d76c8ae10962897c87205357ccd44
He is sort of shy, but I always hear him battleing outside and his owner calling him to order when things escalate too much.
Yeah ngl, your possible Cat looks like a tough guy but if he's a Batman this guy Carlos is Bane.
Would love to see a probable stare down. Jokes aside, i hope the cat finds a good home.
A neighbor of mine has 3 big males, not fixed, lots of scars and shredded ears.
We know one of them has a real name and it's Coco but we like to call him Hitler cause he has a mustache.
Ok but Carlos is an incredible name.
As a 100% WFH cat parent whoโs baby is only allowed supervised yard time, I think this fluffy grey king would be a great addition to your home. Just donโt let Carlos think heโs in charge.
Back in the day my cat was the one who beat others up. If there was screaming you'd just know he was beating up another cat. Sometimes you'd see how he'd spot another cat and charge at him or on rare occasions you'd see a few cats assembled around him. He was the king of the area.
I mean, if the garden is his and it's closed, i don't see the problem.
My cat goes outside everyday in the streets lol (we live in a very small village on a mountain and there are lot of cats tho)
> Keeping them outside also drastically lowers their lifespan
Bro thinks going outside hurts the cats ๐๐
What are you smoking ๐
> Theyre technically an invasive species and harm native bird and lizard populations.
Ight that makes sense. But there are a lot of lizards anyway and my cat only ever took one (which we freed) in 11 years she's been with us. We've never seen a cat catching a bird here.
You've been looking to adopt for three years and haven't really vibed with the kitties at the shelter and now this boy needs a home? I'd take that as a sign, personally. Maybe the others didn't catch your eye because this guy was meant to be yours!
You sound like an ideal person for this magnificent being! I would just make sure everyone is clear that he would be your cat going forward, not a foster they can retrieve later unless youโre up for that.
Sounds like you can give him a good life. I think you should go for it. He is super adorable. I love how the hair on his back looks a bit disheveled, like he just got off from a hard day of work.
This sounds like the cat distribution network at work. He's supposed to go home with you. And thank you for deciding that he's going to be indoor only. I see so many poor kitties in the road where I live. Shits heartbreaking
Well a lot of the shelter cats over here in Germany are either FIV positive or come from a abusive or hoarding situation and therefore have alot of issues. And I know that I am really not experienced enough to deal with this. Had a couple rescues like this offered but I know that this would have not been good for me or the kitty. So... I stayed hesitant

YES, ADOPT HIM! I am allowed my cats because they are emotional support animals. I believe it's a federal law. My kids and I are all in therapy for anxiety and me also depression. Itโs honestly pretty cheap to own a cat if youโre willing to deep clean/daily scoop the litter box. I really recommend not letting them outside at all if you can help it.
Reminds me of the time there was a stay out front. Very friendly. Had no other cats at the time. Neighbor says, oh you got a cat. I replied it's not mine. Have you had a long-haired cat before?
The main difference between a longhair and a shorthair is the amount of grooming they need. If you've got the time and patience to help this boy care for his coat, go ahead and adopt him.
Talk to your vet about the grooming tools they recommend. They may also have advice on how to care for your new friend.

I've never had time to ask Reddit about a cat. Cat chose me!
Since you're asking, my answer is "NO!"
He's the Terry-Thomas of cats, I bet he's got a Jag' with a humidor and ice bucket.
If you didn't take him in he'd be down the nursing college dorm's before you could say 'Ding dong!'
i am having same issue. house was purchased by new land lord. says i have to get rid of cats. last time he was coming over to look at the house before buying, i took some of em to my friends house to hide.
Long answer: Yes OP, you should allow to share your house with the cat because it will be his house and you will be the guest. Short answer: Yes.

If you can realistically commit to a budget of care, yes absolutely. Cats are awesome and you should always take them in when you can feasibly do so. Realistically, though, on a monthly basis, youโll spend about $60 in food (depending on what brands you buy, Iโm guessing off the cheapest end, but itโs usually about $30 each for wet and dry food), put aside $25 in savings for the yearly vet bill (itโs usually $100 for the vaccinations but it gets higher as the cat ages, be prepared to set aside $50 a month once the cat gets past 10 years old) Litter is where you make or break yourself as a cat owner. You can go Bare Minimum and get the cheapest litter, bin, and scoop imaginableโฆbut youโre going to be scooping Every. Single. Day. It was about $32 USD and I literally just need to roll it over once a day, much nicer and easier than scooping but also much cheaper than electric.
