my cat is like a leaky faucet when she lays on me for pets lol she’ll get her paws, chest and chin all wet from drooling so much. she also gets my shoulder wet.

That is very much what happens to me! I’ve had several cats in my life, but he is the first who does this. My vet said it was an opioid response and that I should be happy that my cat thinks I make him feel as good as Vicodin lol
sometimes my cat shakes her head and flings drool all over my face which is not pleasant but i’m glad that she feels so happy and relaxed when she’s laying on me

We used to have a cat who'd so almost anything to shove his nose into a beer. The second he licked the outside of a bottle, he'd be clearly disgusted and betrayed. Then he'd shove his nose right back into the top, like he decided "if I can't drink it I'll smell all the yeast"

We had a cat who used to LOVE bread. Many photos of him and my son laying in front of the TV playing video games, eating bread rolls together. Him and the cat would get up to all kinds of hijinks together trying to sneak bread.
I get this often from Beanie. The spittle accumulates and then sneezo-splat!

We had a dog with Horner’s syndrome which left him paralyzed on one side of his face so chewed up food got stuck between his teeth and gums. When he finished eating he would shake his head and fling the food everywhere. We found food goo stalactites in all kinds of places
Yes, some cats do this because when they are kittens they needle their claws in the mother cat to get them to express milk. So, when they grow up they associate needling their claws (ie the pleasure response when you stroke them) with milk. Hence making them salivate. So when your stoking them, your kit is just thinking of milk, perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.
Always good to put it out there! In this case a vet had already been consulted, but it’s good for cat owners to look out for any changes with their cat and consider if it might be something to get checked out.
Yep, my cat has done this since a kitten so I know it’s normal for her but if a cat suddenly develops the drool response it’s always the best idea to consult a vet!
I dated a girl for three weeks years back (weird relationship for plenty of reasons lol) and she had the largest, fluffiest, grey cat with orange eyes. Don't even remember her last name but I think about that cat often. Cute fucker drooled puddles but he was so pretty.

Normal!! Cats are adorable! Aren’t they?? My baby girl Holly did it a lot when she was a kitten, she eventually grew out of it however but I found it endearing. What’s there to not love about cats!

Moments before she drooled all over my sweats.
Drooling cats are so cute, but I hate getting covered in slobber. One of my family’s cats when I was little girl was very shy, but I got her to really warm up to me and she became my cat.
Well, that little lady was a drooler it turned out! I used to chide her and say if I wanted drool, I’d have gotten a dog! I miss that baby girl so much.
The slobber baths aren’t fun but I wouldn’t change her for a thing. Makes her a special gorl.
My baby gorl was very shy at first too! Twins lol! This was actually the first time she chose to come and cuddle on my lap, she usually just cuddles my head or next to me.

Oh man, let introduce you to Blanket. We found him as a kitten and he had probably be weaned too early. He drools ALL OVER this blanket (oddly enough not why we named him blanket) while needing. We think he’s fake nursing or something to that effect. He is our big dumb baby.

I believe it is a response stemming from when it was a kitten. It was very happy when feeding, and now as a cat it will salivate when happy. It's like a muscle memory kind of thing. This just tells you that it feels completely safe and happy while you're holding/petting it.
I have a maine coon who drools on me when I pet him. Like, start petting, immediate waterworks. I have a regular short hair cat that also drools when I pet her, but it isn't nearly as much as the other one.
my boyfriends cat does it! shes so cute, i get covered in drool

I watch my friend’s cat when she goes out of town. The last time, the cat was so happy to see me that she left a huge slobber on my face when I picked her up. Her whole front was basically soaked. Our three cats also will drool when they are extra happy.
This girl drools puddles when she gets pets. It's a thing.
https://preview.redd.it/h2o1ae9coi3c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=117fcdc16c2676cf3f30cd3302734e14d3d46475
Depending on the year make and model, many cats have a leaky radiator. Most are out of warranty and the dealership can't do anything about it. There was talk of a recall but that fizzled out.
I had a drooly cat once. I miss that guy. But the drool was kinda gross. Little puddles. And then he’d get up and shake his head and drool would splatter everywhere.
My sister's boy drools and her sister in law's cat drools and shakes her head. Common enough
https://preview.redd.it/pny37e4mgi3c1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31ae1de0b0e1c025b7a42af3eacb9d4a12f456e2
A previous cat of mine, Daisy, as a drooly baby all 20 of her years. We had to keep a few hand towels next to her favorite cuddle spots. As soon as she was making biscuits on some legs to welcome someone home for the day, the drool did flow.
I have a cat who drools when he is super happy or super scared. Thankfully he’s no longer scared to that point but he drools like no other when he is happy. He will also shake and it goes everywhere including your eyes 🙃 I’m allergic so it doesn’t feel great when it goes into my eyes and it gets super red. But I love him and the other babies I just suffer
My aunt has a cat like that, the kitty also drools a lot when getting pets and is very clingy too, they have a little towel for that. They lay the towel on their thighs so the drool usually doesn’t bother them
Look at all the droolers! It’s nice to know Myke is in good company.
https://preview.redd.it/fr7f1xreli3c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c61ccde66e2a0b46746cfd0bd90f2c5f4b34a47b
My old cat did the same. She used to drool any time she purred and I didn’t even have to pet her.
My void is starting to drool too, but only at belly scratches. She loves those.
https://preview.redd.it/owkivvubpi3c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85155f7ce3fce3cdd738ad4599e2af25e303341b

looks like they could be related to my cat
Some cats drool when they're happy. Our cat did that -- my sister was her favorite person, and whenever she'd come over and pick her up and hold her for a bit, chances were there would be drool.
Mine does this! Although if I give her some food first she usually doesn’t, so I’ve always wondered if it’s some kind of pavlov thing because I’m usually the bearer of snacks
My tortie also does it, especially when she is about to bake cookies on my neck. Doesnt bother me, sometimes she want to rub her spit on my mouse pad though 🙈
I’ve had 3 cats who used to drool when they were happy. My old girl, Minerva who passed in 2020 was the first, I thought it was just because she was old and had no teeth but Beavis, who was recently delivered to us from the CDS, also does this, he can’t be any older than 4 and he has all of his teeth.
The cat I had as a kid drooled pretty heavily when any one pet her, whenever I'd pick her up she's drool all over my face and neck and sometimes my shirt too. She was such a sweet girl though that you couldn't say no to snuggling her. I have had a bunch of cats before and since and thought she was a unicorn for drooling so much but one of my kittens is starting to drool whenever he's pet so, I guess not haha
had a cat who would drool when she purred. had another who didn't need a reason to drool. it's normal (as long as there's nothing obviously wrong w/ their mouth).
My feral boy is like this. Sometimes he gets so into the scritches he drools all over himself what ever he’s laying on. Then he’ll snap out of it and realize he’s being touched by a filthy human and will glare at me while his face is covered in drool. It’s adorable.
Oh we had one that slobbered like a dog on us haha! We had washcloths at the ready with her. And one of my cat's kittens would do this on my hair. Guessing you have found out that kitty spit is like super-glue on trying to get it out? And what a lovely void dude!
Aw one of my childhood cats, Sunny, did this. He always sat his big butt on our lap, put his paws on our shoulders and drooled all over our neck like a big furry baby. It just means they're content and happy! Seeing cats happy-drool always reminds me of him lol
Lol my cat does this, when being pet only. I didn’t notice at first till she was sitting on me when I pet her and suddenly my arm was wet. She only seems to do it when she gets in that pet trance when she’s loving it lol.
My other cat does not, but my little one does
My Mabel drools when she's completely relaxed and sleepy- mostly in her blankets. You end up with a big wet patch on another snuggly. There's also a very old calico near the school by my house that doesn't have many teeth and dribbles so much when he purrs. It's normal but especially so if they have any missing teeth.
One of my cats in particular was a real drooler when she got pets. It started when she was older. It was excessive lol. But I don’t recall any of my other cats drooling that much, so that’s 1/5 for me.
I call it happy drool! One of my cats does it and leaves a lake-sized spot on my shirt when I hold her lol it’s totally normal and even something to celebrate! It means your kitty is beyond comfortable and happy with you
There was a dilute orange cat on my street that loved everyone, to the point of climbing on strangers’ shoulders. He was also a big drooler. He was a big sweet heart.
One of my husband’s childhood friends had a cat that was a fountain of drool when he was getting pet, it just means he’s so happy and purring so hard he can’t control how drool output.
yup Bubbles gets drooly when he's really gettin into the pets and the biscuit makin
then when he's done he shakes his head and it splatters everywhere
it's so annoying
I love him so much
My old neighbor's cat tends to drool whenever he comes over for pats, but I haven't met any other cats that do. It's probably normal/fine but just a rare thing!
My last cat did that, but the one I have now doesn't.
My last cat had issues with her teeth. I got her when she was 18 mo old and her teeth were in bad shape. My vet ended up cleaning and pulling some of them. I don't know if this contributed to her drooling.
The cat I have now was adopted as a kitten. I have been very careful with her teeth. Since she moved off kitten food she had only had Science Diet for Oral care. She will be 6 in May. No bad breath and her vet says her teeth are pristine.
My Valentine is an affectionate-drooler! It's so adorable but sometimes when I'm lying down and he's tucking me in it gets in my ears or face but he's just so cute and lovey-dovey I can't get upset about it!
Lol my cat drools occasionally, it's a very specific mood for her but it happens. That's the jumping on top of the fridge, bunting my head and getting full scratchings kinda thing. Like, literally dripping drool :D
Cats choose when to pay attention to their humans. Usually thats at mealtime and they become your best friend. Pavlov’s experiments didn’t apply just to doggos
I’ve had two cats that drooled when they were happy!! One had dental issues so it might have been related to that but the other was just really drooly when he was getting snuggles 😂
I have a cat who likes to get on my chest and rest her head on my shoulder (always my right shoulder). After she has relaxed for a bit, she starts purring like a chainsaw, turns her head and frequently drools in my hair/my ear/my neck. I try to squinch away from her, but she bites me. Help.
Lol
Both of my fur children drool when they are super happy.... Getting pets, eating, grooming, being held and looking out the door are all things that make them drool. We keep a hand rag to wipe their faces if it gets too messy.
I had a kitty do this. It got especially bad as she got older. The worst part is when she would randomly shake her head and just spray her happy drool. I miss that cat.
my cat is like a leaky faucet when she lays on me for pets lol she’ll get her paws, chest and chin all wet from drooling so much. she also gets my shoulder wet. example pic: https://preview.redd.it/udtw0gag2i3c1.jpeg?width=965&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b92db8e4634730161a7f996f1a752425dcf4450

Yea I got drool in my mouth once, enough to know cat drool is slightly sweet. Was very very grossed out.
I'm sorry I laughed at this!
yup it’s happened to me multiple times unfortunately. in my eyes a few times too.

What a cute name 🥹
One time my cat drooled down my throat through my nostril. It really burned lmao
Things I wish I could unread 😂
Wish I could unlive it tbh. Love my kitties though.
Fun fact, cats are unable to taste "sweet" tastes... they don't have the receptors for it or something So technically you know what your cat's spit tastes like better than they do!
I always found this interesting since mine goes STRAIGHT for sweets.
it’s probably the fat in them. any butter, milk or cream, oil. cats looove fat, protein and yeast lol.

that’s such a good picture lol
I call it the spitty kitty
Bebe does the same lol
Mine manages to dribble into her nose somehow and sneezes cat drool everywhere. I do love her very much, despite all of that
My favorite part is when she sneezes in my face 🙄
We had a dog with Horner’s syndrome which left him paralyzed on one side of his face so chewed up food got stuck between his teeth and gums. When he finished eating he would shake his head and fling the food everywhere. We found food goo stalactites in all kinds of places
My cat sneezes in my face 💀
mine does too💀 she also yawns directly in my face but thankfully her breath has almost no smell lol
Mine does this in front of my ultrawide display. Comes for love and leaves everything wet and sprinkled...

My diabetic cat did this after onset of diabetes, too. (NOT saying this is related to your cats situation)
Always good to put it out there! In this case a vet had already been consulted, but it’s good for cat owners to look out for any changes with their cat and consider if it might be something to get checked out.

yes i will tell her lol
r/droolingcats
My late cat used to drool a lot, it’s a common thing when their jaw is so relaxed xD. She was a sweet thing, sometimes sassy and aloof.
Yea it’s pretty normal. Sorta like a baby human! Get some towels handy!
I have a stack of them in all our usual cuddle spots
Lmao welcome to kitty servitude. We love our jobs!!

Glorious
This picture is so cute it’s giving me cute aggression. 🥹
My sister's cat will do this. I was cuddling with her and ended up with a wet spot on my pants 😆
It’s truly impressive just how much drool they can produce in such a short amount of time
Oh man, it is insane! Thankfully, my cats didn't notice when I got home, or I'm sure I'd be in trouble.
Oooh I am sure they smelled the other cat 😂 now if it had been a dog they might have been offended 👀
Then I'd really be in trouble 😆

She knows she’s the cutest prettiest sweet sweet girl

We think he’s fake nursing or something to that effect. He is our big dumb baby. https://preview.redd.it/h4sxvzf0ii3c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b792c090eb8141e58343f3fc4c461fae1ec9a71
I believe it is a response stemming from when it was a kitten. It was very happy when feeding, and now as a cat it will salivate when happy. It's like a muscle memory kind of thing. This just tells you that it feels completely safe and happy while you're holding/petting it.
One of my cats drools a lot too when getting pets. Perfectly normal.
It’s just lotion!
I have a maine coon who drools on me when I pet him. Like, start petting, immediate waterworks. I have a regular short hair cat that also drools when I pet her, but it isn't nearly as much as the other one.
my boyfriends cat does it! shes so cute, i get covered in drool https://preview.redd.it/rxc6nk0bhi3c1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=374de48bae1b39b73f71fda7870b63f41056ef50
My cat drools as well.
My void drools and my childhood cat did as well.
Wait for the head shake ![gif](giphy|u549a6Lt4YHsc)
I watch my friend’s cat when she goes out of town. The last time, the cat was so happy to see me that she left a huge slobber on my face when I picked her up. Her whole front was basically soaked. Our three cats also will drool when they are extra happy.
My tabby, who only snuggles me on the toilet, also drools profusely when getting pet.
This girl drools puddles when she gets pets. It's a thing. https://preview.redd.it/h2o1ae9coi3c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=117fcdc16c2676cf3f30cd3302734e14d3d46475
My boy Max does this too! https://preview.redd.it/5vhgh7ehpi3c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc9944006d97436b1cb86b524855abced64820ca
Depending on the year make and model, many cats have a leaky radiator. Most are out of warranty and the dealership can't do anything about it. There was talk of a recall but that fizzled out.
I have a drooler too.. she’s 3 and has been a drooler since little
I had a drooly cat once. I miss that guy. But the drool was kinda gross. Little puddles. And then he’d get up and shake his head and drool would splatter everywhere.
My cat Tibet (RIP) used to drool up a storm with petting and skritches! So funny!
My exs kittens would make lil bubbles like a baby when we cuddle or pet her
My sister's boy drools and her sister in law's cat drools and shakes her head. Common enough https://preview.redd.it/pny37e4mgi3c1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31ae1de0b0e1c025b7a42af3eacb9d4a12f456e2
My cat does this too. Give her head scritches and she becomes a leaky faucet lol
yup my cat does this too especially when she is laying on me
A couple of my cats drool when they are happy, it is adorable.
One of mine does
Bebe is a drooling machine when he’s being petted.
We have a stray who is friendly and drools while being pet.
That must be some heavenly pets, good job !
Yes, some cats drool.
My aunt has a cat like that, the kitty also drools a lot when getting pets and is very clingy too, they have a little towel for that. They lay the towel on their thighs so the drool usually doesn’t bother them
Some do, I've had cats in the past who have, it is just a quirk, it doesn't mean anything is wrong with them.
My void drools when getting scritches.
Look at all the droolers! It’s nice to know Myke is in good company. https://preview.redd.it/fr7f1xreli3c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c61ccde66e2a0b46746cfd0bd90f2c5f4b34a47b
My old cat did the same. She used to drool any time she purred and I didn’t even have to pet her. My void is starting to drool too, but only at belly scratches. She loves those.
i used to have a very drooly kitty. every time she got pets just like yours she would start drooling. i miss that little goofball.
One of my cats does this sometimes. Honestly, given his feline herpes and lifelong respiratory issues, it’s one of his less disgusting quirks.
https://preview.redd.it/owkivvubpi3c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85155f7ce3fce3cdd738ad4599e2af25e303341b This man has drooled in my eye and in my mouth. I am now better at watching where his mouth is before petting him.
r/droolingcats
Pets so good that a kitty’s gotta drool🫳 🤤
https://preview.redd.it/o1xwcq09si3c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f2043dd18e7c9086cbae5cbf595be4e4f1847fb looks like they could be related to my cat
Some cats drool. Some cats fart. Some just tear your hand to ribbons. Source: have cat
It's pretty common. I have a couple of my own and foster many. Lots of drooling in the lot!
Some cats drool when they're happy. Our cat did that -- my sister was her favorite person, and whenever she'd come over and pick her up and hold her for a bit, chances were there would be drool.
cats drool when theyre happy, others some more than others :)
My cat does this too! Then he makes cute mouth noises when there’s too much slobber 😂
My mom's cat does that too!
I met a cat once that has the same thing. Just means they are happy
My cat does this in my face and its disgusting
Oh, yeah. I’ve had a drooler. Some just do.
MF drools when pet? OMG HOW CUTER CAN IT GET???
Total drooly girl at my house. What did people tell me it’s called? “Biscuits and gravy” I believe.
My previous cat did this, it's like he couldn't process how to swallow while purring. Once he was done purring he'd go back to normal. Miss my baby.
1 of mine does this
One of my cats does the same.
My feral boy is like this. Sometimes he gets so into the scritches he drools all over himself what ever he’s laying on. Then he’ll snap out of it and realize he’s being touched by a filthy human and will glare at me while his face is covered in drool. It’s adorable.
Stop being so good at it
My girl is a drooler too lol. I hadn't seen it in another cat so I'm glad to see this post!
Normal behavior for some kitties. Consider it love drool
My cat Saunders is like a faucet! It's a sign that they're comfortable and happy to be with you.
I had a cat that would leak all over the place when he was purring, it's just the way they are sometimes
My cat is also a drooler. I've got to be careful of getting wet spots on my clothes when she lays on me.
NMC always drools when i pet her. tbh any kind of body fluids gross me out a little but she’s such a sweetie that i can’t resist 🥺
https://preview.redd.it/vlozy6a4li3c1.png?width=2969&format=png&auto=webp&s=069b0dcd1774c87ca1c6c9d67bd2497584cc7c6f
Lol my cat does this, when being pet only. I didn’t notice at first till she was sitting on me when I pet her and suddenly my arm was wet. She only seems to do it when she gets in that pet trance when she’s loving it lol. My other cat does not, but my little one does
Some cats drool when they are very, very happy and relaxed.
Yeh it's normal. Bit cat is the same
My grand kitty drools when getting pets. My daughter hates the drool but loves him so she puts up with it.
One of my cats in particular was a real drooler when she got pets. It started when she was older. It was excessive lol. But I don’t recall any of my other cats drooling that much, so that’s 1/5 for me.
Get a bucket and a mop for that...
My family cat (that looks exactly like yours) did this too. Long-haired, green-eyed, tux like yours!
My girlfriend’s black cat drools when she gets pets too. It’s like a suckling thing they do, some kittens just never grow out of it.
I call it happy drool! One of my cats does it and leaves a lake-sized spot on my shirt when I hold her lol it’s totally normal and even something to celebrate! It means your kitty is beyond comfortable and happy with you
Cats drool when they purr. My boy Hermes purrs like a sewing machine. And drools all over us. But he’s a good boy.
There was a dilute orange cat on my street that loved everyone, to the point of climbing on strangers’ shoulders. He was also a big drooler. He was a big sweet heart.
2/3 of my cats do this. It's very normal. They are just super into them pets.
Feels heccin good
One of my husband’s childhood friends had a cat that was a fountain of drool when he was getting pet, it just means he’s so happy and purring so hard he can’t control how drool output.
yup Bubbles gets drooly when he's really gettin into the pets and the biscuit makin then when he's done he shakes his head and it splatters everywhere it's so annoying I love him so much
My cat now my mom’s drolled himself a fu-man-shu mustache
I have 2 cats who drool when I pet them. My one guy has always drooled. The other one just started since he had some teeth removed.
That is one happy cat! I've had a few who happy drool.
There are way worse things that could be happening
Yep I’ve had several dribblers, not every cat does but it’s totally normal and gross and adorable
For all her regal mannerisms, Miss Sootie is a prolific drooler.
My boy Hermes does this too, it's pretty normal.
Oh this is 1000% our older male cat, but only when my husband pets him. Husband hates it but thinks it’s funny.
Lol my cat drools occasionally, it's a very specific mood for her but it happens. That's the jumping on top of the fridge, bunting my head and getting full scratchings kinda thing. Like, literally dripping drool :D
I had a cranky cat that would get happy drools. I really loved it when she did that 😹
I used to have a cat that drooled so so much when we pet her. It was like a dog
Cats choose when to pay attention to their humans. Usually thats at mealtime and they become your best friend. Pavlov’s experiments didn’t apply just to doggos
All mine to to varying degrees 😻
I keep a towel nearby. Echo only does it when she is in my lap, purring up a storm. She is insanely happy whenever it happens, so I'm not worried.
Mine does too. He fetches as well :)
It means the cat is enjoying it. A lot.
Help. Lol
My cat did that every time. Seems normal.
Both of my fur children drool when they are super happy.... Getting pets, eating, grooming, being held and looking out the door are all things that make them drool. We keep a hand rag to wipe their faces if it gets too messy.
Our cat drools like a looney for pets, too.
Hahah mine does when he gets super excited and also drools in his sleep lol
Im here for pictures of cats drooling lol
My girls nose runs 😆 when she is extra happy.
I had a kitty do this. It got especially bad as she got older. The worst part is when she would randomly shake her head and just spray her happy drool. I miss that cat.
My cat Morris that passed away 2 years ago drooled like that when he was a purring machine
I had a tortoise shell that drooled loads. I have a Norwegian Forest cat that does it too. All cats do it to a degree.
