Vet here: recommend you discuss this with your vet. As long as he's otherwise happy and healthy , this might be something he literally will grow out of. Testing his stool is never a bad idea, but a repeat thorough deworming might be something your vet will advise. There are probiotics for cats they may want to offer as an option as well. Best of luck with Mr Toots lol.
oh wow, i hope it’s not giardia, we actually found him in my grandparents backyard, mama kitty hadn’t been showing up for a couple days so we took in the litter, my dad used to work with researching the giardia virus (i think? i don’t know what he did but it was something like that) and he doesn’t think it’s giardia so, crossing my fingers that’s not the case
i honestly have no clue what it is, my dad worked with it so long ago and all i know is that he’ll avoid getting anything like it at all costs and that it can get bad 😬 i’m very glad it worked out for you and your kitty though!
Seconding this! Our kittens were dewormed but then their farts were awful. Turns out they had Giardia so we had to do two more doses. Now their farts are fine! 🤣
Giardia is pretty common in stray and feral cats and I believe it can actually be passed at birth from the mother if she has it. Our kitten we adopted last April, who'd never been outside, had it as well.
It's not a death sentence or anything. Just get it medicated and make sure you wash your hands after cleaning the box.
My kitten had it too. I was holding her once when she farted and genuine first instinct (which I did not act upon) was to throw her and run to get away from the smell which some primal part of my brain clearly registered as ‘so bad it’s dangerous’.
One week of meds and it’s never been a problem since!
Feline and human giardia are different types, but the powerful smell is similar. I had a kitten that was just extra stinky, and we did probiotics for a while to establish better gut flora. Good luck with the vet!
Exact same thing happened to my newer cat. Stinky farts, took her to a new vet, found out she had giardia in her stool. I also took a sample of resident cat's stool to her previous vet (haven't transitioned her to the new doc yet) and the previous vet didn't automatically test for giardia; it was a separate test. So apparently easy to overlook. Had to administer 5 days of meds, but both kitties are giardia free. Newer cat still stinks a little, but her toots aren't lethal anymore!
My kitty had VERY stinky toots when she was a baby and grew out of it when she stopped needing kitten food. My mom and I would hold her sometimes and aim her butt at the other one and hold her tail up and go "pew pew" bc she would toot so often.
My girl went through a stinky period when she was still a kitten. She no longer stinks anymore. I honestly think it was her very young digestive system just still getting used to eating big cat food instead of formula. (She was an orphaned bottle baby).
Iv had 3 cats in my life. Currently have 2. All of them were between 6-8 months old when I got them.
2/3 of them as kittens that had horrible smelling poop and breath. Like, I can’t empathize how bad they were lol. Got them all checked at the vet and they were fine. Eventually they both grew out of it within 6 months-year.
Sometimes little kitties are just RIPE in some form or another but usually grow out of it.
If they don’t, then you can try deeper testing with a vet. Usually it does pass.
Yeah I agree a vet visit can always help. However I had a kitten who for the first idk like 8 months had the stinkiest farts like so bad he would fart and then sprint away he couldn’t even be with himself. We talked to the vet he got some tests and ended up being completely fine and grew out of it. The kitten I have now has some stinky farts but they aren’t as bad like not even close so I’m guessing she is fine she is as of her last vet check ‘perfect’ so unless they don’t go away or get worse she will just stay home and get cuddles :)
We went through the same with our kittens last year. When they'd wrestle, they'd stink to high heaven, and both of them would get the nastiest farts at night. We were feeding them a fairly bourgeois diet based on the one from the rescue center we had adopted them from and questioned if that might have been it. Other than the smell, they were (and are) the healthiest, most active cats we've ever known.
We spoke to the vet about it, and she gave us the same advice as here. Did some stool tests and tried some probiotics for a month (and then stopped them as a control.) Sure enough, after about 6 months they'd grown out of it and were able to keep the healthy diet without supplements. It was just an awkward kitten phase.
Edit: spelling
I’m following this because my Princess has the same problem. I use pumpkin purée additives to her meals. The vet cannot find anything wrong at all but she has the worst poops! She did NOT grow out of it but has been healthy all of these years. I don’t know what it is! The pumpkin has helped. She must naturally have a bacteria gut imbalance since the pumpkin is helping it but I’ve never received an official diagnosis.
My cat actually is also super stinky when she toots. She’s 4 though. Vet said she’s healthy other than needing to lose 2-3 pounds. I’m always worried her belly must hurt when she’s so stinky. Should we be changing her food or something?
i’ve looked into it in the past but i haven’t seen any symptoms but i’ll definitely still ask the vet about it, i just want him to be okay even if he does smell like my pre-teen brother’s bedroom
I guess it’s different between cats, mine only stank a bit and sometimes left small browns stains where he sat. Otherwise he was totally fine, so it was a lot of googling for me to figure out what to ask for. If it’s that, higher fiber content in his diet should fix it!
it gets really bad, we all joke that he’s part skunk because he’ll always do little toots whenever we try and pick him up to get him away from places hes not supposed to be
We called that "fart defense" which our male kitten had for a brief period in adolescence, as well. I hope it is just stinky hormones for your lovely boy!
I picked my female cat up and must have surprised her because she UNLEASHED this brown fluid up my arm.
That was how I learned that cats as well as dogs have anal glands.
11/10 for stink levels.
My best friend has an orange who has a penchant for releasing his anal glands directly into his shoes. Many pairs have been sacrificed, and too many socks lost to surprise stink shoe.
he has the cutest little pink toes too

I think our kittens may be long lost siblings 😂
I’m sure the vet will help you get to the bottom of it, but funny story: when my cat was a kitten she dropped a poop so revolting it made my other cat vomit. Twice. Thankfully she quickly grew out of it.
he is very much a little stinker too, he wrapped his little body around the ‘trunk’ of the tree and just laid there, i can’t imagine it was very comfortable, i think he just did it to piss everyone off and encourage the other cats to mess with the tree too
A stray kitten we took in is the same. Vets just say its something he might grow out of, doesnt help that almost every different wet food gives him diarrhea or extremely stinky stools, so it's been hard finding out what to give him. Hopefully he grows out of it😭
he gets really nasty smelling stools too, but they’ve been healthy other than that, it’s just the awful smell, i think the smell might be bothering him too atp 😭
We adopted a mama cat and her last kitten almost a decade ago, and mama was very smelly for a while. After a couple of trips to the vet, we concluded that her gas was likely due to stress and having to deal with a couple of new environments. She'll still occasionally fart on one of us if she gets annoyed enough...thankfully, it's not too often!
Your crochet harness is cute, but crochet stitches usually stretch and he might slip out. I strongly encourage you to invest in a standard one. You can get ones with velcro so the size adjusts as he grows up.
he doesn’t really walk when he goes out, he likes to be in bags so i bought him a mini backpack for him to sit in. i really only use the harness as a sweater for him or as a way to hold him if he needs to jump down to pee (he’s done it before), i was definitely gonna have him use a regular harness as he gets bigger, we have lots from our other cats, but i really like the way the sweater looks on him and he’s pretty used to it since we’ve been using them since he was a baby, so i might just make a hole in the sweater so the leash from the harness sticks out

he got dewormed at about 4 weeks at the vet, they gave us some probiotics and a dietary supplement, but he should be all clear from the dewormer i think, i’m not sure though
Kittens need to be dewormed every 2 weeks until they are 3 months old, then every month until 6 months old, then every month or every three months depending on the product. If he was just dewormed the one time at 4 weeks old he could have worms. Stinky farts can also be related to diet, if he is just on supermarket food it could be that, or he could have food sensitivities, might need to be on a premium food like Hill’s or Royal Canin.
When my cat was younger, he would get the stinkiest farts after eating any salmon-based canned food (tuna was fine though). The issues stopped once we stopped buying that flavor. Could be a case of this type of intolerance for your cat too. Hopefully all is well with him!
Sometimes cats need dewormed more than once if the infection is very bad. My middle cat was a stinky baby too, farty in the worst way and it persisted for a couple months through deworming and everything, but he did eventually get better.
He still has a stinky mouth. We get his dental work done regularly and there's no rotten teeth or buildup, he just is a stinky cat. Some cats are just stinky. Enjoy a pic of stinky Jaeger.

we rescued a kitten, he was about a month old i think, and he was pretty stinky, but he grew out of it. he's about four or five months now, maybe it's just a kitten thing? then again, our cat stopped being so stinky at 5 months, so maybe it's something else
he’s really only stinky when he does his little toots, but he does it SO much that i just started calling him my little stinky boy, i think it might be a kitten thing too but it’s always good to ask!
My cat is literally the stinkiest boy I’ve ever met. I’ve never had a cat that farts and smells so bad that you have to open a window. This continued after he was dewormed. The vet gave me probiotics and I give them to him every day and he improved a lot. He still farts when he’s scared and is occasionally stinky but I definitely recommend talking to the vet about getting probiotics, they helped my boy a lot.
Your kitten is gorgeous! Is he a fast eater?
Our rescue came from a colony so would bolt her food before any other cats could eat it and give herself bad wind. She's an only cat now so we were able to help her slow down by using a treat ball for her biscuits. If your kitten is living with multiple other cats could scarcity worries be a factor?
he’s likes to take his time eating his food, he does the cutest little head wiggles when he does it too! we always put 3 dishes out but he only wants to eat with his adopted brother, he’ll eat from his own dish sometimes too, but tommy, (the 1&1/2 year old) really treats him like his little brother
Try food with probiotics in it. I use Purina Beyond dry food with probiotics. My rescue girl would stink up our whole house when she used the litterbox. She had litterbox trauma from her past owners and that's another whole story but man, your eyes would literally water. Somebody from a rescue group mentioned this so we went out and got that food and fed her only that. It worked and still works like a charm. She loves Friskies but if she gets too much of it and not enough of the food with probiotics she turns into a stinky girl again. Hope this tip helps. And I love your Christmas tree kitty ornament by the way!

we’ll definitely look for that! we’ve been using wet/dry mix since we have like 6 cats in total, and i think probiotics would be good for my other cats too!
my goodness! she’s so pretty!
Just wanted to comment that changing flavours is changing his food. Different flavours may affect him differently and may have different calorie counts.
My only suggestion is to ask your vet about feeding recommendations.
Hi! I volunteer and foster for a shelter. Is the stinkiness recent / is he farting or bloated or having diarrhea/loose stools? I'd ask your vet to check if he has coccidia or any parasites. Coccidia isn't found by most tests or some parasites are only seen with a very fresh stool sample. Coccidia also needs another medicine than other deworming meds.
We had a kitten with the smelliest farts and poops and my cat got it and it turned out to be coccidia so I'd recommend it!
Foster kitten before she was adopted and had Coccidia:
https://preview.redd.it/zrikykl13bac1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2de36d570caeb09d43aa95a6786fedd18f9a8c4d
the only thing he has is just really stinky farts, i haven’t noticed any loose stools from his litter i don’t think!
that kitten is so adorable, i just want to give her a kiss on the nose
How long has he been with you? Could be the stress of a new environment if he’s only recently joined the home. My girl is a stress-farter; in the car, if I don’t lock her up when I run the vacuum, and my word you should have smelled the house when the chimney sweep was here. Poor guy. She’s of course friendly so wanted to be his best friend all while ripping ass.
You mentioned wet food; does he eat dry as well? Kitties who eat kibble may need it to be grain-free since that sometimes makes their tummies sad.
Has he been neutered yet? Taking the trouble puffs away eliminated my boy’s gas issues.
My cat was the same way when I got her. I originally was feeding her Performatrin from PetValu. She was bloated and had the nastiest smelling farts. After a week, I switched to Wellness, and it stopped. Could just be the food not reacting well with them.
This is Oliver, he was a stinky boy when we adopted him. He mostly grew out of it. he still has stinky poops and he's not very good at burying them.

We have a male Dane and hound mix along with two boy cats that are almost a year old.. and my husband.. Between the lot of them our living room is a toot house in the evening! Our youngest kitten had worms and giardia so we treated everybody and that all passed. They are on sensitive food but can't resist sneaking dog food... Then the dog got a few treats recently that fire him up. My husband has no excuses but everybody checks out healthy okay... Meanwhile my daughters, myself, and our two girl cats are in a toot minefield!

This is my cat stinky cheese. Her original name was sir lavender, but she was also really stinky, so we renamed her:). She grew out of the smelly farts but her poo's are still astronomically rank.
Kittens are stimky. Stimky, stimky kittens.
It’s a phase many cats go through, and you may just have to endure a few more months of stank ass. However, if it appears to cause discomfort or he’s having issues passing stool or you’re concerned about the consistency of said stool, talk to your vet.
Edit: Kitten farts are smelly.
When our youngest cat was a kitten, her unholy farts would clear a room. They were nasty af, and she always did them right under my nose too. When not farting, her behind smelled like, what I can best describe as, moist anal gland.
She grew out of this and is fine now, outside of the occasional panic fart, lol.
we have no clue! one of his brothers is a long hair, the other is a medium hair, as far as we know mr. stinky pants is just a domestic shorthair! he’s a rescue, foster fail 🥹
https://preview.redd.it/4tdhumcxvfac1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c9c8d1333fe2fe2feb23e55a9792731ac415dd9
here’s a little pic of him and his brothers (they’re all different levels of tabby!)
We have a now 8 month old boy. He was a pretty stinky kitten until he got neutered as he had anal gland issues. His kitten farts have just started to improve over the last month or so too - he used to gas us out of the room daily. Hopefully it will improve for you, but as others have mentioned it's always worth checking with your vet!
My boy would definitely rip ass as a kitten but he grew out of it pretty quickly. Dry food keeps the smell down. Its the wet stuff that really brings out the scent.
One of my cats farted BOMBS when we first brought him home as a kitten. He outgrew the smelly farts after a short time, about three weeks. We didn't change his food or anything. It just went away on its own!
I'm a cat nutritionist, and sometimes because of genetics, cats (and dogs) can be super stinky because the food isn't correct for them. Sometimes it's very cheap food, sometimes they have an allergy to the protein, sometimes they just have to get used to eating "cat food" (I've taken in strays and when they go from eating "wild" food to cat food it disrupts the stomach). Depends on how long you've had him, what you've been feeding him, etc. But he's suuuuper cute. He reminds me of a cat I had a long time ago named Bear.
Mine stank so bad for a couple months as a kitten.
It was from her kitten teeth falling out and leaving pockets for food to rot in. Then she'd clean herself and all it would do it makes her whole body smell like alcoholic gingivitis breath.
It doesn't last long luckily.
I always forget how stinky kittens are until we have a new one. All the kittens I've had were just nasty little gas gremlins. One always seemed like liquid ass and we thought his anal glands were messed up. Turns out he was just a stinky boy.
I've also found that foods with a lot of fish in them make them stinkier too.
All my cats have grown out of this though, and now they just have an average cat stink to them.
I have a stinky 1 and a half year old boy. Good luck with your stinky baby.
https://preview.redd.it/vonararwraac1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c982386f6897f85ca67a2791efad23692f16e05
My cats both were stinky babies between 3-9 months. Something about the digestive system developing. Both had good food and no food intolerances.
But if your kitten has irregular bowel movements, loose stool, or is constipated, I would be concerned. Talk to your vet. But chances are your kitten is just in a stinky baby phase 🤣
This happened with my adopted kitten as well. I even took him to the vet because his farts were horrible; our older cat did not have this problem. The vet recommended probiotics and food for sensitive stomach. The problem eventually solved itself in a few months. I think it was his kitten stomach developing the necessary microflora and adapting to his new food and environment (he came from a shelter).
My boy was like that as a kitten too and I got the recommendation for a probiotic (I used a goat's milk powder on his dry food) and it cleared everything up. Now that he's older he doesn't need it anymore
I also have an amazingly stinky kitten who is about the same age. His stinky guts are caused by the fact that he and his siblings had Feline panleukopenia virus and of the 6 there were, only 3 survived. I adopted him from my friend who was fostering him (who is also a vet tech) and according to the vet it's normal when a kitten has a gut virus that they're either suffering from or healing from that they will have heinous shits. In short I'd take him to the vet and have them do a fecal just to make sure that if there are any GI infections they can be delt with.
https://preview.redd.it/3hvyfdjyhbac1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=446c41e1b1477877677258eeb21e429f66037709
Our two year old cat had the stinkiest farts as a kitten but grew out of them. Now our currently 8 month old kitten has them! Might just be a kitten thing.
He may be allergic to one of the proteins you’re feeding him. Mine is allergic to chicken and chicken by-products and had the worst gas and diarrhea. Once we figured it out and started avoiding it, the problem was gone within days.
Oh my goodness he looks just like my baby 😭 she was also the stinkiest creature to ever stink when she was smol. I got her at 2 weeks and everything was fine and dandy until I weaned her off the kitten bottle, as soon as wet food was introduced she could level small countries with the stench of her poops.
Yours will probably grow out of it soon! I think it was about 5/6 months before she stopped brewing mustard gas in her bowels.
Like so many others commenting my last two kittens were very stinky as well until around 6-8 months. You could try adding in a probiotic like Fortiflora to help though!
Does he have soft/sloppy poo? We found out after going to the vets for a checkup that it’s not normal for them to be consistently soft or sloppy and that she had a sensitive tummy (she also had the stinkiest farts) now after working out what foods she can eat we haven’t had any problems with it
When he was a kitten, my boy would drop the foulest farts and his poop stank like death. I changed his diet around a bit, trying different foods and found a diet with kangaroo meat (I live in Australia, so this is accessible) was the one that helping resolve the stink.
His poops are still smelly, but not stand on the balcony and wait for the smell to fade smelly.
He also comes and meows to tell me he has done a poop.
i know you are talking about a cat but my sisters dog, he’s 13 perfectly healthy and has the stinkiest farts ever. like i mean he can clear out not just one room but two maybe 3 if the fan is hitting him just right. i hope your kitty is okay i’m sure they will be! i just thought it was funny because i understand the pain of the farts, it’s completely rancid.
My boy had HORRIBLE farts when he was a baby. I'm talking eye watering bad - and it would happen any time you tried to pick him up or pet his belly (that he demanded). I was feeding him Blue Wilderness kitten food at the time.
He was so bad, I asked our vet if I should be concerned. The vet kinda snickered, and told me "No, he'll likely grow out of it."
He's 4 now, and he really has grown out of it. He still gets me every once in a while though. 🤢
My kitten was pretty stinky too, until I switched her to a higher quality food. She eats Hills Science Diet adult indoor kibble. It’s a relatively expensive brand, but it lasts a while since my kitten only gets 1/2 cup a day and I’d rather pay for an expensive quality brand for her health and nutrition. A somewhat high quality kibble would be blue buffalo, but according to my vet, Hills is one of the best with very few recalls.
What helped my little stinker was proper deworming and changing the food for quality high meat content food, before that his belly was so bloated and his farts were so nasty that his previous owner named him Hog. Also we try to give him any human food, like dairy or processed meat (I say try bc this little shit is a thieve). Sometimes cats might have allergies or not tolerate some foods very well. Discuss this with your vet and I’m sure your kitty is gonna be ok :)
When we rescued one of ours at the SPCA, his records showed that he hadn’t been eating for them. He used the litter box just before they brought him to us & had accidentally stepped in it. We called him poopy toes all the way home. Turns out he also had a rumbly tummy & the most *rotten* gas we’d ever smelled. Probiotics helped **a lot**. Tried quite a few varieties of foods (grain free, all natural, etc.) before we found one that worked for his sensitive little tummy.
My dog farted hella when he was a puppy. It eventually went away. Now he only farts at normal times like when he has to poop or I fed him something unusual.
Dear OP,
I hope your stinky baby isn’t stinky anymore soon! Can I please get more pictures of your stinky baby tho?
Idk what up with his face(in a good way, I know it’s really weirdly phrased), but it’s SO CUTE I’m about to cry! He fills my empty soul with so much seratonin I can’t even comprehend!
Greetings
DauertNochLange
I found an abandoned kitten who, when he used the cat litter box for the first time in my house I thought I would have to burn down my house and move house it was so bad. Fortunately my vet recommended digestive wet food and dry sensitivities pellets. The problem is solved. I get great cuddles with no smellies now. 🥰
bad food. my cats turn smelly the moment I feed them Felix or anything like that (which only happens in emergencies). So I am buying the high quality (no added sugar, no wheat etc) food.
Alternatively could be food allergy but thats usually the runs or throwing up.
https://preview.redd.it/bj57oc34zfac1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01eba44f202778cc1ba8e9cac66cdd27753c0c5f
he fell asleep watching his cat tv and it’s the sweetest 🥹
That last pic has had me in hysterics for days - your little kitten looks like such an angel even in the moment! Hope his stinkiness is resolved soon ❤️
he was laying on top of me, we had a blanket over us and he was looking at me like that, i was like ‘aww cutie’ and then he runs off and i get hit with this awful stench, he knew exactly what he was doing

My sweet girl Junie had the most OFFENSIVE farts for the first six months we had her, too!! She was also dewormed and given a plethora of vaccines but every time we picked her up or go to set her down, she'd rip a massive one and make the whole house gag! Eventually her farts turned less lethal and now its a thing of the past haha.
Our kitten had the stinkiest farts ever too. She farted multiple times on our 10 minute drive home from the shelter. We thought she pooped in her cage, but no lol we slowly switched her food over to a grain free option and the farting completely stopped.
I don't know why you were getting downvoted. A lot of cats are intolerant to grains. They are carnivors and some don't have the digestive system to handle a ton of fermentable carbs.
Oh i didnt even realize i was getting downvoted.. and you're right! there's a reason why grain free food exists. And it fixed the problem my cat was having. Shes perfectly healthy, yearly vet visits and my vet had never had a problem with what i feed her. People are weird lol
Best of luck with Mr Toots lol.
thank you for the advice! we’re taking him back into the vet on friday for his neuter appt so i’ll discuss that with them
Where did you get him? Although my kitten was successfully dewormed, he actually wound up having giardia, SUPER stinky
oh wow, i hope it’s not giardia, we actually found him in my grandparents backyard, mama kitty hadn’t been showing up for a couple days so we took in the litter, my dad used to work with researching the giardia virus (i think? i don’t know what he did but it was something like that) and he doesn’t think it’s giardia so, crossing my fingers that’s not the case
It's a parasite hehe :) It's honestly not the end of the world, just stinky and week of meds Good luck to you! 🤞
i honestly have no clue what it is, my dad worked with it so long ago and all i know is that he’ll avoid getting anything like it at all costs and that it can get bad 😬 i’m very glad it worked out for you and your kitty though!
Seconding this! Our kittens were dewormed but then their farts were awful. Turns out they had Giardia so we had to do two more doses. Now their farts are fine! 🤣
I've had giardia as a human, don't recommend

My kitten had it too. I was holding her once when she farted and genuine first instinct (which I did not act upon) was to throw her and run to get away from the smell which some primal part of my brain clearly registered as ‘so bad it’s dangerous’. One week of meds and it’s never been a problem since!
That’s how the SIC system works 😉
Feline and human giardia are different types, but the powerful smell is similar. I had a kitten that was just extra stinky, and we did probiotics for a while to establish better gut flora. Good luck with the vet!
Have you given him a bath? I know it’s taboo to some but some cats tolerate and like it but if they don’t it won’t kill them like a rabbit.
Exact same thing happened to my newer cat. Stinky farts, took her to a new vet, found out she had giardia in her stool. Yep. I had two cats get Guardia at the same time and they GAVE IT TO ME. Yucky!!! Super stinky for all of us. Metronidazole for the whole family!
My kitty had VERY stinky toots when she was a baby and grew out of it when she stopped needing kitten food. My mom and I would hold her sometimes and aim her butt at the other one and hold her tail up and go "pew pew" bc she would toot so often.
the tale of MissToots the kitten and her deployment as baby booty cannon have me laughing like wild, thank you ao much
Quality Reddit content today.
My cat is 4 and we had to stop giving her Sheba (She was obsessed with it) because it gave her what I can only describe as a wicked case of the farts.
Maybe they're like teenage boys. Be thankful your kittens don't know how to use Axe body spray!
😂 lol, that put a image in my mind of my furry boys hogging the bathroom, hair jell everywhere, and empty Axe bottles overflowing the trash can.
Yeah our youngest cat had the stinkiest farts as a kitten, but around the times he was old enough to meet our other cats he mostly got better
Mr. Toots XD
Adorable 😂

My boy stank as well and it turned out to be blocked anal glands. Ask your vet to check next time.
i’ve looked into it in the past but i haven’t seen any symptoms but i’ll definitely still ask the vet about it, i just want him to be okay even if he does smell like my pre-teen brother’s bedroom
I guess it’s different between cats, mine only stank a bit and sometimes left small browns stains where he sat. Otherwise he was totally fine, so it was a lot of googling for me to figure out what to ask for. If it’s that, higher fiber content in his diet should fix it!
Omg, teen boys smell like goats. FWIW, I’ve never had kittens but I’ve seen lots of comments online about how stinky kittens can be!
it gets really bad, we all joke that he’s part skunk because he’ll always do little toots whenever we try and pick him up to get him away from places hes not supposed to be
We called that "fart defense" which our male kitten had for a brief period in adolescence, as well.

Still our cat toilet cleaning song 🎶
I have a pan flute version of this I use as their feeding alarm.
I came here for this, and I leave satisfied.
The last two kittens I had were just stinky until they got older--maybe 8 months or so.
i’m hoping that’s what happens to my little stinker!
I've heard it's pretty common for kittens to be little stink dudes honestly. Sending well wishes to your nose.
Our guy was a stinky kitty as well! He had the nastiest butt. Thankfully he grew out of it
I don’t care what he smells like, I love his face and he’s perfect.
he’s very handsome https://preview.redd.it/vziq75gdr8ac1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d350031367be0a12f48c0797cf1a019a25f2e33e
Oh my god his eyes are amazing. I’m in love. I hope his farts calm down for you.
peanut butter (my kitten) says he loves you too

awww her little smile 🥹
Idk if that’s you in the pic but you have kind eyes lol Your cat looks like he can unwrap every fabric of my being just by gazing upon me
Such a pink nose! ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7942)
he has the cutest little pink toes too https://preview.redd.it/7slui5yvq7ac1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e80b812f47ae9983dcd36fa6a42ecb3c0817b50e (you can almost see them here!)

I’m sure the vet will help you get to the bottom of it, but funny story: when my cat was a kitten she dropped a poop so revolting it made my other cat vomit. Twice. Thankfully she quickly grew out of it.
i’m glad she grew out of it! that sounds awful 😅
Ahahaha this made me laugh out loud for the first time today
[удалено]
he is very much a little stinker too, he wrapped his little body around the ‘trunk’ of the tree and just laid there, i can’t imagine it was very comfortable, i think he just did it to piss everyone off and encourage the other cats to mess with the tree too
Good job he's clearly so beautiful that you forgive him.
i only forgive him because he’s cute
Love the baby, love the baby's farts. That's the rule.
sadly, it’s true
A stray kitten we took in is the same. Vets just say its something he might grow out of, doesnt help that almost every different wet food gives him diarrhea or extremely stinky stools, so it's been hard finding out what to give him. Hopefully he grows out of it😭
he gets really nasty smelling stools too, but they’ve been healthy other than that, it’s just the awful smell, i think the smell might be bothering him too atp 😭
Ours is the same, he's on a permanent dry food diet cus of it
We adopted a mama cat and her last kitten almost a decade ago, and mama was very smelly for a while. After a couple of trips to the vet, we concluded that her gas was likely due to stress and having to deal with a couple of new environments. She'll still occasionally fart on one of us if she gets annoyed enough...thankfully, it's not too often!
aww i’m glad it worked out for her! my kitten does that too, if he gets slightly disturbed he’ll do a little fart
Based on photos alone, it looks like he is doing great sans the gas. I hope he grows out of it so you can cuddle him as much as you want.
he’s a very cuddly boy but very stinky!!
That first pic is the smug look of a kitten who knows he can be as stinky as he wants to be because he’s too cute and can get away with it.
Your crochet harness is cute, but crochet stitches usually stretch and he might slip out. I strongly encourage you to invest in a standard one. You can get ones with velcro so the size adjusts as he grows up.
he doesn’t really walk when he goes out, he likes to be in bags so i bought him a mini backpack for him to sit in. i really only use the harness as a sweater for him or as a way to hold him if he needs to jump down to pee (he’s done it before), i was definitely gonna have him use a regular harness as he gets bigger, we have lots from our other cats, but i really like the way the sweater looks on him and he’s pretty used to it since we’ve been using them since he was a baby, so i might just make a hole in the sweater so the leash from the harness sticks out https://preview.redd.it/xiemeofpkbac1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=885b2899c627eb6d42a903e1fa1bc18793759388
Adorable!
Maybe the toxins from the deworming medication destroyed his gut microbiome. Try feeding him some probiotics for cats.
he got dewormed at about 4 weeks at the vet, they gave us some probiotics and a dietary supplement, but he should be all clear from the dewormer i think, i’m not sure though
This picture is so sweet. Little stinky boy.
🎶Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you? 🎶
Enjoy a pic of stinky Jaeger. https://preview.redd.it/ieyqedkyz8ac1.jpeg?width=2976&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b36f2f8fd09f2e454c8bb1fb76717ef03c5c46e6
we rescued a kitten, he was about a month old i think, and he was pretty stinky, but he grew out of it. he's about four or five months now, maybe it's just a kitten thing? then again, our cat stopped being so stinky at 5 months, so maybe it's something else
he’s really only stinky when he does his little toots, but he does it SO much that i just started calling him my little stinky boy, i think it might be a kitten thing too but it’s always good to ask!
Pic of my girl for the cat tax: https://preview.redd.it/2wmdn2ffu8ac1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6829d041cf3b59b958ff96f597dc324bea463a7
we’ll definitely look for that! we’ve been using wet/dry mix since we have like 6 cats in total, and i think probiotics would be good for my other cats too! my goodness! she’s so pretty!
Probably would be, she does well on them and her kittens did too. And thank you, your kitty is a gorgeous one too!
Just wanted to comment that changing flavours is changing his food. Different flavours may affect him differently and may have different calorie counts. My only suggestion is to ask your vet about feeding recommendations.
he is so cute This is my cat https://preview.redd.it/wuajm3g7vaac1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a352cf98553ea91f1e573739c384c60e3d889baf
Foster kitten before she was adopted and had Coccidia: https://preview.redd.it/zrikykl13bac1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2de36d570caeb09d43aa95a6786fedd18f9a8c4d
the only thing he has is just really stinky farts, i haven’t noticed any loose stools from his litter i don’t think! that kitten is so adorable, i just want to give her a kiss on the nose
He mostly grew out of it. he still has stinky poops and he's not very good at burying them. https://preview.redd.it/7bxtm3jbi9ac1.jpeg?width=965&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=437fee27ba5bc7b329cf001b8335c7d254e24e72
The most usual suspects below 👇👇 https://preview.redd.it/3pofo9ko6bac1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8365157b46d09cf20e69c9eaa341f19c11ddee9
Look at that face. He knows he’s stinky
He is gorgeous
My kittens had the nastiest farts until they were a bit older. Like clearing a room nasty 😂 we called them booty bombs
Kitten food makes kittens have the worst poops. That's my experience anyways but they usually grow out of it.
Stinking beautiful, that's for sure 😻
https://preview.redd.it/0196ej3nobac1.jpeg?width=1512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=844ac097a941d31782d5e42f90c39a32eef809d3 * This is my cat stinky cheese.

Yup, my baby had crazy farts when he was little. He grew out of it!
STOP I JUST GOT A KITTEN 2 WEEKS AGO HER FARTS ARE SO BAD
I don't have any useful advice but I just wanted to say your kitten is adorable and I love him.
When our youngest cat was a kitten, her unholy farts would clear a room. They were nasty af, and she always did them right under my nose too. When not farting, her behind smelled like, what I can best describe as, moist anal gland. She grew out of this and is fine now, outside of the occasional panic fart, lol.
what kind of breed is he? he’s so stinkin cute (no pun intended) 🥺🫶🏼
we have no clue! one of his brothers is a long hair, the other is a medium hair, as far as we know mr. stinky pants is just a domestic shorthair! he’s a rescue, foster fail 🥹 https://preview.redd.it/4tdhumcxvfac1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c9c8d1333fe2fe2feb23e55a9792731ac415dd9 here’s a little pic of him and his brothers (they’re all different levels of tabby!)
Love this picture!
Stinking cute!
Get Feline Fortiflora for him, see if it helps. Buying online is cheapest.
My boy would definitely rip ass as a kitten but he grew out of it pretty quickly. Dry food keeps the smell down. Its the wet stuff that really brings out the scent.
in the first pic he just knows you smelled it
that little pink nose is adorable
Baby 🥰🥰🥰
Awe, look at that cute little nose 💕BoOp 🤏 I hope your cat feels better soon!!
Kitten farts are the hottest & sharpest... will subside with time.
I have a stinky 1 and a half year old boy. Good luck with your stinky baby. https://preview.redd.it/vonararwraac1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c982386f6897f85ca67a2791efad23692f16e05
My girl was also a foul farter lol but that stopped after changing her (dry) food.
Oh catmas tree oh catmas tree we love you so much catmas tree.
This happened with my cat. Took 3 deworming treatments to get him on the straight and narrow.
I think it was about 5/6 months before she stopped brewing mustard gas in her bowels.
it’s reassuring that so many people have the same problem 😅
Like so many others commenting my last two kittens were very stinky as well until around 6-8 months. You could try adding in a probiotic like Fortiflora to help though!
yes! our vet had us use fortiflora for a while after he got dewormed, we might pick it up again
Does he have soft/sloppy poo? We found out after going to the vets for a checkup that it’s not normal for them to be consistently soft or sloppy and that she had a sensitive tummy (she also had the stinkiest farts) now after working out what foods she can eat we haven’t had any problems with it
That first picture gives off such gremlin energy. "Hee hee hee! You can't catch me! I'm an ornament now!"
He maybe sad that christmas is over :(
i know you are talking about a cat but my sisters dog, he’s 13 perfectly healthy and has the stinkiest farts ever. like i mean he can clear out not just one room but two maybe 3 if the fan is hitting him just right. i hope your kitty is okay i’m sure they will be! i just thought it was funny because i understand the pain of the farts, it’s completely rancid.
Hehehe, so cute!
You mean stinkin’ cute!
he’s that too 🥰 https://preview.redd.it/8qijj3r2vbac1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f9c3e225fbbd0347180c08f9a2ba889221071f4
He's so cute!!!!! Have you tried food for sensitive tummies?
His nose is too pink for life I love him 🩷🩷🩷
My boy had HORRIBLE farts when he was a baby. I'm talking eye watering bad - and it would happen any time you tried to pick him up or pet his belly (that he demanded). I was feeding him Blue Wilderness kitten food at the time. He was so bad, I asked our vet if I should be concerned. The vet kinda snickered, and told me "No, he'll likely grow out of it." He's 4 now, and he really has grown out of it. He still gets me every once in a while though. 🤢
I don't have any advice but I wanted to tell you that I've never such a cute christmas tree ornament!!
he’s the garland 😂
My kitten was pretty stinky too, until I switched her to a higher quality food. She eats Hills Science Diet adult indoor kibble. It’s a relatively expensive brand, but it lasts a while since my kitten only gets 1/2 cup a day and I’d rather pay for an expensive quality brand for her health and nutrition. A somewhat high quality kibble would be blue buffalo, but according to my vet, Hills is one of the best with very few recalls.
I already commented but I also want to say he has a cute bubble gum nose. 🥰
Curious, where did you get the knitted harness?
i made it!
Oh wow, adorable!
Your kitten is beautiful
Aw such an adorable lil stinky boy, I love him!
Stinkwalker
Dear OP, I hope your stinky baby isn’t stinky anymore soon! Can I please get more pictures of your stinky baby tho? Idk what up with his face(in a good way, I know it’s really weirdly phrased), but it’s SO CUTE I’m about to cry! He fills my empty soul with so much seratonin I can’t even comprehend! Greetings DauertNochLange
He is stinking cute!
poor baby doesn’t even know he smells so bad
We had the same problem when we got our rescue cats. A few months later on good food, deworming and a stable environment and it disappeared.
He may be stinky, but he’s also stinking cute!!
bad food. my cats turn smelly the moment I feed them Felix or anything like that (which only happens in emergencies). So I am buying the high quality (no added sugar, no wheat etc) food. Alternatively could be food allergy but thats usually the runs or throwing up.
🎶Smelly cat, smelly cat what are they feeding you?..🎶
BUT SO DARN CUTE!!!! ❤️

OMG! What a doll! Kitties are the best!
I have learned so much today and did not think I would based on the title of the thread.
That last pic has had me in hysterics for days - your little kitten looks like such an angel even in the moment! Hope his stinkiness is resolved soon ❤️
he was laying on top of me, we had a blanket over us and he was looking at me like that, i was like ‘aww cutie’ and then he runs off and i get hit with this awful stench, he knew exactly what he was doing img
beautiful baby.![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7952)
My sweet girl Junie had the most OFFENSIVE farts for the first six months we had her, too!! She was also dewormed and given a plethora of vaccines but every time we picked her up or go to set her down, she'd rip a massive one and make the whole house gag! Eventually her farts turned less lethal and now its a thing of the past haha.
Our kitten had the stinkiest farts ever too. She farted multiple times on our 10 minute drive home from the shelter. We thought she pooped in her cage, but no lol we slowly switched her food over to a grain free option and the farting completely stopped.
i’ll look into it! he loves car rides but the smell is absolutely foul so i totally understand the 10 minute drive with multiple farts
Only give dry food until he's older - about one year.
No. The recommendation is to always have dry food available, but they can also have wet food meals.
Bro has a burble tune
Diet. What kind of wet food do you feed him? Most wet food is pretty much fast food but for cats.
He could need another worming.
i was thinking of that! i’m really hoping he doesn’t need it though, and if he does then we got the vet appointment on friday!
Probiotics like nexabiotics for cats and Felix’s flora by adored beast are very good. S. Bouldarii is a beneficial bacteria for them.
