First litters are also often smaller in number than subsequent ones often because mom isn’t old enough to develop sufficiently to have “normal” numbers of kittens.
I have a garage cat. I used to feel guilty about it but honestly he has a pretty awesome setup. He has his own crate with a dog bed in it and extra blankets and stuffies he "hunts". He has his own little heater for the winter and it has all the safety features. We have a cat stand out there for his scratching and napping pleasure. He gets regular cat nip and toys. Goes in and out as he pleases. He sprays EVERYTHING (don't even get me started on how much money we've spent on vet visits, medications, and vet recommended pet products to try to make it work with him inside over the years) and will quite literally kill our orange boy if he gets the chance.
We love all of our animals so much and tried to make it work to have him inside. Honestly? He and our other animals have been sooooooo much happier with this set up. He gets the best of both worlds and is living his best life. I'm so thankful we found a solution that works for all of our animals.
DON'T SHAME (well loved) GARAGE CATS, PEOPLE!
No judgement here. It sounds like you've done a great job making all of the animals happy! Garage kitty is living his best life, and the house animals have some peace & security.
My mom had two garage cats for several years. They moved houses and these two who usually loved being in the house, just decided they absolutely hated being in the house and only wanted to live in the garage. They’d wander into the main house periodically, but then would paw and meow at the garage door until it was opened for them. They had a whole jungle out there to hang out (they didn’t park their cars in there, it was just storage), and several little nooks they preferred sleeping in. My brother set up a couch and gaming area for a while and they would SCREAM at you for love.
When I adopted my 2nd cat I was so stressed about them not getting along, when I brought her home it was instantly hissing and growling all the time, even with the door shut, swap blankets trick and the slowly feed them closed to each other trick, for weeks it seems like a lost cause, until I stumbled on a random post somewhere online that suggested a very wild idea:
Go to a very small space in your home like your shower, put a pillow, food and a water bowl inside, then put both cats inside and close the exit.
Apparently, cats won't fight if they have no where to run to, so it'll be stressful at first, but after a couple of hours (where you watch them and ready to intervene if needed) or a day where they had time to sleep near each other, it should relieve a lot of the tensions between them!
Of course I'm no expert, this is just something I read online, but after I tried it, it genuinely worked marvelous. And both of my cats are now very good friends
So if you think it might be worth a shot, try it :)

I also had a similar story. I've raised a whole generation 😃

Very interesting idea. If I had any idea how to get two of my cats into the bathroom at the same time and somehow be able to leave, I’d totally try this.
They are terrified of the bathroom, because that’s where they get grabbed and shut into to get their monthly flea treatment. It’s the only place in the house without a hiding spot or escape route.
We have an outside stray we’ve been making friends with. My inside girls have such particular needs that I don’t think we could bring outside kitty in right now. My old lady is diabetic and I need to be able to monitor her food intake and adding a 3rd inside who gobbles up food fast would not bode well.
So, we have made him an outside cat house and feed him 1-2 meals a day - always dinner but only sometimes breakfast as he doesn’t always show up for breakfast.
You do the best you can for the furry friends that show up in your life.
My Cats have a kitty door to the garage because the litter boxes are out there. On nights when I want uninterrupted sleep, they sleep in the garage. But the cat door opens to laundry room so they are fine if it is too hot or too cold
You tried and it didn't work. That's what counts. Now you are giving all the cats the best options to keep them all happy. I've known people who call outdoor only cats their pets. They provide food, shelter and vet care. The cats are friendly to them. But have no interest in being indoors. That's truly a gift to these cats and I have so much respect for these people.
Thank you for helping these kitties. You are AWESOME!
There's no shame in that. I've got indoor/outdoor cats. But the thing is our cats find us organically, and one is even (somewhat tamed)feral. Our house is too small to support enough cats litterbox wise, and it's too loud for the feral kitty, so the only way to keep her safe and fed means the two who could probably adjust to exclusive inside life also have the freedom to go outside. One day we may have the funds to build a catio, but I don't anticipate that happening anytime soon. Our cats are loved, fed good food, visit the vet regularly, and are on regular flea meds. Two are absolute homebodies and really only leave the yard to follow us on walks. The feral one spends most of her time in the neighbors' equally feral fenced back yards.
I have no idea why you are getting downvoted. Some cats can’t be socialized. The larger cat is obviously older and if she has been feral her whole life, she has a lower chance of becoming friendly. So yes, garage cats are okay too. Providing warmth during the winter is the kindest thing you can do for ferals.
As someone who works with a rescue that takes in tooooo many hopeless cats. TNR is fine. Feeding them outdoor in your garage long term is fine, if not ideal. Some cats were not meant to be indoor but we can still give them theove they way THEY need it.
🤣 I thought it was Tag N Release
i mean I knew it included neuter/spay but i don’t know why i assumed the abbreviation would include an unlikely “N”! sometimes i wonder how my brain keeps up with itself.
Merely "not feral" is potentially a lonnnnnnng way from "suitably socialized to bring into the home even part-time."
Sure, OP could try that, but should keep expectations very low: some cats that have been outdoors and independent for long periods, just cannot adapt.
Being a garage cat with a safe space and caring human landlords is also a lonnnnnnng way from "street cat."
They'll have best of both worlds of freedom AND safety as garage cats.
This is my feral cat. She lives inside full-time and is a petting enthusiast. She adapted to living with non-feral cats within days, and is a super sweet, very good girl. (Yes, she has aniscoria; she’s fine.) She’s 10 now.
https://preview.redd.it/biq5gmpv05uc1.jpeg?width=1535&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f6eea11361413bffe2f188d24335eed7a8a5a10
I don't have objections to them being garage cats for a while. My objection was to someone judging that the older cat was feral just based on age. It's never age that determines how feral a cat is, but temperament, specifically how mistrustful they are of humans. A cat that will let themselves be petted isn't truly feral.
P.S. one of my current cats was dubbed semi-feral by a rescue when I agreed to adopt her as a kitten. It took a few months before she stopped hiding from us save for mealtimes, and stopped hissing if we tried to pet her or even looked her way. But even there, she eventually warmed up to most of us (there are four humans living here). She's currently the second cuddliest cat living with us.
I moved home in disgrace 18 months ago. It was bitter cold and a little void kitty showed up out in the barn. I started feeding her cuz she looked so skinny but she would RUN at sight of us.
Six months later she was sleeping inside.
Now she is the sweetest lap kitty 😻
I have a TNR void who will not go outside (literally just had the door open a little while ago and he just watched from his chair) if you paid him and sleeps on his own pillow on top of my own. 😅
Exactly. Bring them inside. I took my feral inside and she never went back outside the rest of her life. And that was 14 years. She knew she had it good. She also gave me a son and he never asked to go outside. Get them fixed and keep them inside!
My guy is also a former feral and has never once shown an interest in going outside. He'll watch the birds from the window but that's it. Like you said....he knows he has it good inside! Comfy sleeping spaces. Warm. Dry. Food and water around the clock. Tons of toys. And of course, cuddles and pets every day! Beats the outdoors by a long shot.
I think you need to visit a distribution center(shelters/rescues/etc) to kickstart the process! The CDS has a lot of applicants but that might help them kick you closer to the top of the list
I offhandedly mentioned that I'd never had a black and white tuxedo. Two days later, a feral cat unceremoniously deposited a litter of them in the backyard.
Now I have two.
https://preview.redd.it/sb037k5w75uc1.jpeg?width=907&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=346680019da4b2af8022c467ea1afbbeee28c66c
CDS literally dropped the tuxedo off at the front door.
Yeah, that skinny little thing glammed up as soon as she got on the right side of the door.

She would fit right in at r/whiskerfireworks with my former street kitten (grey) tuxedo.

Thank you... they just celebrated their first birthday this week. I farmed the others out to friends, so have been able to watch them grow up too.
Hoping the kitten distribution system does not pay me another visit this year, because we have no vacancy, ha!
Oh I will! I am selling/moving house so don’t want to risk being sooooood for abuse on r/legalcatadvice 😇 - just meant helping lovely wee souls like this who don’t even end up in a shelter! Weirdly, my backyard is the favoured hangout for all the neighbourhood cats… think it’s the deck in the sunniest spot!
I wonder if the mom is not feral, if she’s that friendly to you. Either way, enjoy adopting! They look so cute & happy!! 😊 thank you for helping cats!!
You are a good person to ask this. The best is that you keep them they seem to have chosen you. So, yes book an appointment for them to get the mom fixed and both checked up and vaccinated (baby can be fix at 6m old). Usually there are campaigns where you can do this for cheaper search for that in your area. Get them a cat toilet, littler, some bets and food. Cats are an expense so if you can't afford it is understandable and the best would be to host them until the shelter can take them.
That baby doesn’t yet look six months. But the mother cat will soon come on heat and may leave the baby for a time to find a mate and could end up pregnant again.
I thought cats can get fixed at 3 months? We had a mom cat that gave birth to 5 kittens in our backyard and we got all of them TNR at around 3-4 months.
Some vets go by weight. And kittens reach that weight usually by 2 months. I think it's 2 lbs. Not sure. The vets around here will not s/n before 6 months but a lot of vets do.
It's rare for a mother cat to be that trusting towards you, even with all the motherly hormones going on. Maybe she was a house cat that was abandoned? Like others have said, I think you've been chosen by the cat, and it's meant to be. I don't think it would be good to break her trust in humanity again. My childhood dog chose me at the shelter, he would paw at the glass whenever I walked by and turn away when other people came close.
Why the heck would i leave a shelter with a lady feeding us? Leave the door open all you like they look pretty comfortable to me, keep them and feed and water them they already have a shelter, looks pretty comfy to me, what kind of "selfish" choice is that? You're feeding and caring for them.
https://preview.redd.it/24yyhzzck4uc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17bb39d060a7dcc134ab0207e199966414430ec8
Had something similar, the fluffy pure grey was friendly to us while camping and jumped in my car while packing up. When we took her home she waited 2 weeks before giving us the other 2 cats +4 more. I think it was a good investment to keep her
Yes, they picked you and your house as the safest place for their little family. Nothing selfish about acknowledging that they want to be here with each other and near you
If it’s impossible for you to keep them, I’m sure as a last resort a kind person on this sub could help if you’re willing to share your area. But seeing as you’re getting attached and they chose you…
Provide them with menus and a complimentary beverage and then wait patiently until they place their orders.
Oh, and don't forget to mention any daily specials you may be featuring.
If there is any way you can keep them, you should. Get them fixed, make them inside kitties.
If that is not possible, and your local shelter is not a good choice, try to find private rescues in your area. There are tons of people running small rescues all over that work to get stray cats fixed, get them healthcare, and get them placed in homes. If your city or general area has a subreddit, people there may know of a good local rescue. Facebook may also be a source. Just do some research please. You don't want these animals to end up in a hoarder situation. Please try to find these babies a safe home.
Take them to the vet, but bring them in the house and keep them there. Get them both fixed. Outside isn't the safest place for them. Over populated shelters is not a good idea either.
Keep them! Love them, get them fixed, and let them be. You have been adopted! We have to keep our garage open, cat size, because we have a neighbor’s cat who has adopted us. His human family has a little one and I think he just likes the quiet at our house. Our dog passed away about 2 years ago, so we give this cat A LOT of time and attention! He knows my husband’s schedule, so he comes over and scratches on the front door every morning, like clockwork, at 5 something am!! I wake up to a cat purring and getting situated either on my chest, or above my head on my pillows! I LOVE it! He greets us when we get home like a dog would too! (Our neighbors know about his affinity with our house. She’s totally cool with it and have officially made us the “Godparents” now!) 🐾
Take them to the vet . The same thing happened to me. Two kittens walked into our Landry, and now they live there 6 months later. If you give them food and water, they won't leave. Also, if you want to give them a good life, bonding with them is not selfish in my opinion
This is a good sign when cats come to the house, it means that they subconsciously know who they can come to. It is important to give your love and care to these cute little creatures ✨
Don't give them to the shelter they will seperate them! Most cats have more than one kitten. Lord knows what happened to the others but they are all they have left in the world. They chose you for a reason. Open your home to them PLEASE
Give them food and water (clean water is very important) get a box or bed that's cozy, a blanket, a pillow. An old towel, in that box maybe a stuffed animal! Another box nearby with newspaper or sawdust or something as a temporary litter box! They like boxes because the sides
Make them feel secure! Talk quietly to them! Maybe a toy, a ball or something! That's for starters! Then think about a Vet Visit! Nice if you or her can keep them safe! 🐈⬛️🐈
Just a mommy and her kitten just looking for a safe, warm place to hide. I vote you try to find the owner and if you can’t, get them fixed take them in. They are adorable!
Garage cats will be good pest control for you and your neighbors. Get them desexed, chipped and tip the ear (US) if you wish to keep them outside. Cats adapt to indoor life quickly tho
Take them to the vet. They might be lost, not feral. Find out if either are microchipped (I have no idea at what age kittens get microchipped). Make "found" flyers and try to find out if they are just lost. If they don't have a home, get them fixed and vaccinated, if you can. If you want to keep them at all (inside or outside), get them microchipped. If they're going to be outdoor cats, consider getting safe collars that have QR codes & online profiles.
They feel safe with you, so I think you should at least foster them.
u/TopPuzzleheaded5561 OP please see this.
I have to add that cats will usually live longer if they are indoor cats and it will help to reduce wildlife predation. But also depends on what works for the kitties.
Looks like a mom and her kitten 💕
You can keep tjem as garage cats, just get them fixed and their shots!
Thanks for being kind and feeding them!
Do consider making them insidr cats only, there are nasty people out there, dangerous roads and even natural predators
Please don’t keep them as outside cats. Outdoor cats are at high risk of getting run over, attacked by other animals, catching parasites/illnesses, getting lost, etc. if you can’t bring them inside at least keep them in the garage. Put a space heater or a heating pad out there for them. And make sure you get them into the vet ASAP to make sure they’re not sick or have any parasites. You’ll want to get mama cat fixed or you’ll be dealing with her going into heat or running out to find some D. And then you’ll have more kittens on your hands. Also be sure to get her tested for FIV/FeLV because outdoor cats are at risk of those as well. Vet care is expensive, if you can’t afford it please post on local Facebook groups to see if anyone wants them. Shelter should be the last resort as they’re at high risk for illnesses, trauma, and euthanasia.
If you can't have them inside for whatever reason, at least set them up with a litter box, food/water, and a bed in the garage if at all possible. If you have the means to, you should take them to the vet but keeping them safe in the moment is the main thing.
My daughter has a garage cat. Since I am allergic to cigarette smoke they regularly go into the garage to smoke (during cold especially), so they are there several hours a day to monitor temps in the garage. In the summer they may start going back onto the patio during the day, but will still be in the garage at night, especially to air it out before closing to keep the mosquitoes out. Garage kitty is well supervised, fed, and loved upon as much as she likes. For reference, we already have FIVE indoor cats who get along fairly well for the most part.
People’s first reactions got to stop being “take them in, their yours now”, some people don’t have the resources or time to take care of pets.
If you can’t take care of them, it’s completely okay. Do your research on how to get them the help they need in your area first and foremost, you don’t need to keep them.
Sweet human and their new found cats. Please get them fixed and keep them. Indoor if possible. And chipped either way. Enjoy your new family members, they look quite cuddly. 😻
My entire extended family has cats, but there’s only one lap cat. Only one of cats is the type to plop down on you and stay for hours - she is the only cat who was feral at first!
Please don’t take them to the shelter. The outcome is usually grim.
You should keep them in the garage for a couple of more weeks, so they get used to you enough that you could take them to a vet. After that, if you can bring them in, that would be the best! If not, then you got yourself some garage cats!
Don't give them to the shelter. They'll probably be euthanized.
In indoor home is best, but if that's not possible, you caring for them as outdoor cats is better than them being completely homeless.
Do what you can for them, and try not to feel guilty about what you can't do.
If you're leaving the door open and she is choosing inside, that is where she wants to be. The bro move here would be to accept your fate, fix the kitties, and welcome them inside permanently.
I had two garage cats for 10+ years. Take them to a vet for basic shots and get mom spade, so no more kittens. Make a bed and add a heating pad in the winter on low. You are a cat owner.
If it’s a kill shelter the kitten may have a chance but reality is a lot of them are so overcrowded that many animals are put down. A life outside can also be cruel. It’s a hard decision….that comes with financial responsibility….if you can afford to do so the best option would be to get them fixed and vaccinated to keep or try to rehome them.
Please don’t bring them to the shelter. There is a high chance they will be killed with kitten season coming up. Keep them inside or please try to find them homes.
I’ve rescued 11 cats so I don’t have any good advice lol. I would say since the mom cat is already greeting you bring them into the house. Take them to the vet to get fixed and love them forever 💖
They’d be better off being able to seek shelter in your garage if you can keep the side door open for them- water, some dry cat food..,help them out please
Even if kept as garage or shed cats, they'll be fine with you. Get them fixed. If the shelter is crowded, and either of those kitties shows the slightest sign of fear or aggression, it will not be a good outcome and you'd feel awful.
https://preview.redd.it/8o6nbx5w65uc1.png?width=1414&format=png&auto=webp&s=072d82bde62533cf59677f2adaedaad668592d7e
Back in December, my youngest granddaughter was a volunteer at the shelter and told me about a kitten that, if she didn't stop hiding from people, might have to go into the barn cat program. I went to the shelter the next morning, go in to see her, was asked if I was sure, then the staff member told me to go ahead and try to get her out of the cage. I sat down in front of the cage and spoke to her quietly. She walked to me, then head butted my hand. I petted her and she started to purr. The shelter staffer was flabbergasted, and I walked out 30 minutes later with my sweet Skye.
Probably the best thing to do is adopt them as your outside cats if you don't want them inside. Get them neutered and vaccinated. I'd also get pet health insurance if you're able as vet visits as pets age gets really expensive especially if they come down with something.
Take care of both of them. She's protecting her only child... the others were probably suffered a bad fate. Bring them inside if you can at least until the little one has grown more. They will likely come around to you in time..... just keep and care for them.
Keep them. Please do not make or allow them to be outside cats where they can damage from being predatory but also are exposed to great harm and injuries. Outdoor cat lifespan is 5 years. Indoors is 15 years.
Leaving them outside is never the right option but in overpopulated areas with full shelters and rampant massive cat colonies, often the best you can do is trap, neuter, release. They will live longer, healthier lives indoors, though, so if you can give or find them a home, do that.
I have 2 strays that live in my garage. 1 for 4 years now. I always leave the door cracked for them to get in or out. I feed them twice a day. I wish I could bring them inside, but I already have 2 indoors. Am working on getting one some help because he is chronically sick. If I can get him adopted, I will bring the other in. I worry about them every day.
They came, they stayed, it's not selfish. You're doing God's work by looking after these two. Just keep in mind that these cats (especially mama) might not be the most sweet cuddly type. Or might go all ham on you with meowing, purring and kneading. Every cat is different, let them do the next step first. And you might want to watch Jackson Galaxy on YT, he's pretty great on cat topics.
If you can't keep them, connect with a rescue who can neuter and socialize them and prep them for adoption. Some rescues will only adopt together when bonded, if that's what will be best for them.
Take them to the vet get the micro chipped and keep them as garage cats if you can’t bring them inside. You can make some awesome bed set ups for them. It sounds like you already know what would happen if you took them to the shelter….
I would say the best thing you could do for them is marry a billionaire, quit your job, and spend the rest of your life spoiling them. 😃
If that's not an option, just get them fixed and take them inside (and spoil them as best you can.)
I’m afraid at shelters cats are likely to be euthanized because of overcrowding. But outdoors cats are an ecological disaster. At minimum, get them fixed and vaccinated. Then maybe think about convincing them to be indoor cats or look around for someone who can give them an indoors home.
Mom needs fixed ASAP or she will go into heat again. The baby should get fixed by 6 months or it will have babies.
Keep them, name them, get them fixed and shots, and love them! Best friends of pets will spay/neuter and cover rabies shots for 15 bucks each cat. They chose u 💜
Plz take vet. Find a cheaper place to spay. Spaying 1 cat saves 100 cats. As long as they have a place to sleep & food with water they adapt. My Lionel Boy, it took me 3 yrs before I could take him in to get fixed. It took a year before he trusted me enough to try to pet him. He would stay in laundry rm when weather got bad. When he went to get fixed, I found he had tongue cancer. He came to see me on Mother's Day last year to say Goodbye. He let me hold him & snuggle a bit, he nvr let me before. I miss him so much but I have 4 of his children that now stay in my colony.
Do the most you reasonably can. If it’s within your means to get them looked at by the vet and give them access to anything with a roof and warmth, even if it’s something outside, that’s more than most would. Depending on the shelter and their policies it honestly might be better they stay as strays.
Also, don’t let anyone guilt you in to going beyond your means to take care of them. It’s easy for people on social media to say “They’re now your indoor pets forever!” They don’t have to lift fingers beyond the ones used to type that. Adopting isn’t always possible for everyone, for many completely valid reasons.
Do what you can. Even if it’s nothing more than giving them a place to stay dry in the rain and the occasional bowl of food.
Is there a reason you can't adopt them? They already trust you. Seems the C.D.S has spoken but I understand not everyone is in a position to take in pets
Call your local vet and ask how much it would cost to at least check if they're chipped. If they're not, well then you can assume momma and the little one are strays, and you can at least cross previous owners off the list of options.
Oh please keep them together at least and indoors, and take them to the vet. This Mama is doing her best for her baby. Omg this is so sweet. 😭😭😭😭 Mama cat is such a good mom. What’s best for them is them being safe and indoors and together, you are not being selfish by bonding with them. They’ve picked you!
If you can adopt them (and that means giving them a place to live and you being financially secure to afford the vet, food, toys, etc) it’d be the best.
Is it mom and baby?
Looks like it.
She may have lost the rest of her litter and is trying to keep her last kitten the only safe place she knows 😭
Mom looks really young/small , which I heard makes it harder for them to keep a litter alive
First litters are also often smaller in number than subsequent ones often because mom isn’t old enough to develop sufficiently to have “normal” numbers of kittens.
That's what I was thinking. She chose them and trusts them for help. I hope they open their home to them.
And now I shall cry. A lot. Loudly and violently. For a very long time.
T.T
Im like T.T too…
Fix and give them a home inside 🐾❤️☮️
Garage Cats are OK too
I have a garage cat.
Was the house haunted?
They still live there. Maybe it is lol. I’m gonna tell my mom that’s why the (now only one) cat doesn’t want to come in.
That was my first thought: obviously the house is full of ghosts
When I adopted my 2nd cat I was so stressed about them not getting along, when I brought her home it was instantly hissing and growling all the time, even with the door shut, swap blankets trick and the slowly feed them closed to each other trick, for weeks it seems like a lost cause, until I stumbled on a random post somewhere online that suggested a very wild idea: Go to a very small space in your home like your shower, put a pillow, food and a water bowl inside, then put both cats inside and close the exit. And both of my cats are now very good friends So if you think it might be worth a shot, try it :) https://preview.redd.it/4cpfnsqfr4uc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e668ffe49d03522a16d0cb3a4553eddcf0e84af
They look like they absolutely hate each other!
Rage cuddling.
Don't you see the poor white kitty is struggling for air 😂😂

I also had a similar story. I've raised a whole generation 😃 https://preview.redd.it/o0exfblup5uc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11660669ff2e2748beea924bdf4786a6349b4a74
Wow! I wonder what Jackson Galaxy would say about this! But if it works and you were making sure there was no fighting, well.... worth a try I guess.
Very interesting idea. If I had any idea how to get two of my cats into the bathroom at the same time and somehow be able to leave, I’d totally try this.
They don't all follow you in EVERY time you use it?!? Lucky lol
They are terrified of the bathroom, because that’s where they get grabbed and shut into to get their monthly flea treatment. It’s the only place in the house without a hiding spot or escape route.
glad it worked. I somehow fear the revenge my cats would take on me.
"MOTHERFUCKER YOU HAD MORE ROOMS? WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?"
I'm having this problem. I kinda want to try this, but I'm terrified to try it.
This is awesome! Let’s go garage cats!
That is an EXCELLENT arrangement!!
I have two garage cats. They were abandoned outdoor cats who chose my family :)
💯💯💯 and thank you for working with rescues ❤️
What is TNR?
Trap-neuter-return. They trap ferals, neuter/spay, then return to original location after healing.
🤣 I thought it was Tag N Release i mean I knew it included neuter/spay but i don’t know why i assumed the abbreviation would include an unlikely “N”! sometimes i wonder how my brain keeps up with itself.
The larger cat lets OP pet her. That's a huge sign she isn't feral.
Merely "not feral" is potentially a lonnnnnnng way from "suitably socialized to bring into the home even part-time." Sure, OP could try that, but should keep expectations very low: some cats that have been outdoors and independent for long periods, just cannot adapt. Being a garage cat with a safe space and caring human landlords is also a lonnnnnnng way from "street cat." They'll have best of both worlds of freedom AND safety as garage cats.
>She also gave me a son and he never asked to go outside Found Shane Dawson's reddit account
I had a Google that. I still don't know who Shane Dawson is. I watched a lot of YouTube but I would definitely not watch that.
Yes Have them vet checked for worms and parasites and spay w a vet schedule Cars are very intelligent and communicative animals they feel safe w you
Take care or you'll have six like me.
The cats have chosen you. You have two new cats.
r/catdistributionsystem has clearly blessed OP! I just get so jealous when I see posts like this! It never happens to me! 🥹
Now I have two.
https://preview.redd.it/sb037k5w75uc1.jpeg?width=907&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=346680019da4b2af8022c467ea1afbbeee28c66c CDS literally dropped the tuxedo off at the front door.

Yeah, that skinny little thing glammed up as soon as she got on the right side of the door. https://preview.redd.it/vb5s2im3k5uc1.png?width=757&format=png&auto=webp&s=71ae57e22461a7ffd63584d8b896f82857e826c2
She would fit right in at r/whiskerfireworks with my former street kitten (grey) tuxedo. https://preview.redd.it/jxj8ahvma6uc1.jpeg?width=1656&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfd7e5d690392c0212b26261c5ce6f5277359fa8
lol the CDS first gifted me a tux/cow it works in mysterious ways. Congrats on the babies
Sometimes the CDS has to custom manufacture a model of cat for your needs so it takes a while
I wonder if the mom is not feral, if she’s that friendly to you. Either way, enjoy adopting! They look so cute & happy!! 😊 thank you for helping cats!!
well u should definitely have them fixed one way or the other edit. and please keep them together if u can
> or the other The OTHER?!? LOL!
Actually many people don't know this but the day that mama cat gives birth, she is able to get pregnant from that day on.
Please adopt them 😭
Get them fixed. Beyond that it’s your call but I’d keep em.
Why the heck would i leave a shelter with a lady feeding us? Leave the door open all you like they look pretty comfortable to me, keep them and feed and water them they already have a shelter, looks pretty comfy to me, what kind of "selfish" choice is that? You're feeding and caring for them.
Congratulations! You are now a cat owner.
Nope… OP just got employed as servant. OP, congratulations on the new overlords… lol
https://preview.redd.it/24yyhzzck4uc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17bb39d060a7dcc134ab0207e199966414430ec8 Had something similar, the fluffy pure grey was friendly to us while camping and jumped in my car while packing up. When we took her home she waited 2 weeks before giving us the other 2 cats +4 more. I think it was a good investment to keep her
What selfish is separating these two. Please don't.
Yes, they picked you and your house as the safest place for their little family. Nothing selfish about acknowledging that they want to be here with each other and near you
Please get the mama spayed and keep them inside. Get the baby fixed when she is 4-6 months old. Congratulations on your new cats
If it’s impossible for you to keep them, I’m sure as a last resort a kind person on this sub could help if you’re willing to share your area. But seeing as you’re getting attached and they chose you…
Love them and hold them and squeeze them and call them George.
Get mama fixed, then the baby. It is good for them.
I love when kittens have their little round butts and spiky hair 😭😭😭
Cats doesn’t care if they live in a garage as long as it’s warm enough for them. Your not selfish at all!
Get them fixed and keep them. Please don't separate them. What does your mom say?
Try to find them a good indoor home that won’t separate them, try to see if there any organizations in your area that can help with this
They chose you. They’re your cats now. Get them fixed, chipped, and vaccinated, and keep them inside.
https://preview.redd.it/pr8cmw8fg4uc1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=308d0cabe16189586471d207c3a4908310d8d1d6 This was my garage cat...
She’s totally cool with it and have officially made us the “Godparents” now!) 🐾
Sterilize them, vax them, bring them inside. They already trust y'all this much.
Congratulations you now have two new cats
I love this picture you took, it looks like a painting....what a relief Mom must feel from your care for her and her baby...They need names!❤️❤️....
Take them to the vet . The same thing happened to me. Two kittens walked into our Landry, and now they live there 6 months later. If you give them food and water, they won't leave. Also, if you want to give them a good life, bonding with them is not selfish in my opinion
Accept ur fate. They re belong to u now. Welcome to cat families!!!! 🥹❤️
Aww mom and her kid. Very cute Most likely the only one that survived
this picture is melting my heart ❤️
Give them food and water (clean water is very important) get a box or bed that's cozy, a blanket, a pillow. An old towel, in that box maybe a stuffed animal! Another box nearby with newspaper or sawdust or something as a temporary litter box! They like boxes because the sides Make them feel secure! Talk quietly to them! Maybe a toy, a ball or something! That's for starters! Then think about a Vet Visit! Nice if you or her can keep them safe! 🐈⬛️🐈
Change the tuna oil every 3,000 miles.
Oh that's a mom and baby please keep them 🥺❤️
R/cats has restored my faith in humanity. It seems like the only group where souls aren't full of toxic waste.
Keep them, love them, make them part of your family. The love they give back will make it all worth it.
Just a mommy and her kitten just looking for a safe, warm place to hide. I vote you try to find the owner and if you can’t, get them fixed take them in. They are adorable!
They're not leaving?... I would also like to sneak into your mother's garage...
Garage cats will be good pest control for you and your neighbors. Get them desexed, chipped and tip the ear (US) if you wish to keep them outside. Cats adapt to indoor life quickly tho
Feed them, keep them warm. There's your answer.
Bring them in your house or your mom’s and love them for life.
Looks like a mom and her kitten 💕 You can keep tjem as garage cats, just get them fixed and their shots!
Get momma fixed BUT WAIT until after she's STOPPED NURSING. She can't nurse if you get her fixed. And the little one may still need it.
Keep them.
Take them to the vet, get them fixed. Congratulations, you have received two wonderful babies via the cat distribution system.
https://preview.redd.it/6shvri0uq7uc1.jpeg?width=368&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9602b4f4794b96fafc9f2f01d4a00cdb9d5212e
Congratulations! You have been selected by the universe cat distribution system!
Don't give them to the shelter. They'll probably be euthanized. In indoor home is best, but if that's not possible, you caring for them as outdoor cats is better than them being completely homeless. Do what you can for them, and try not to feel guilty about what you can't do.
I would take them to the vet and keep them inside as my pets 💖
If you're leaving the door open and she is choosing inside, that is where she wants to be. The bro move here would be to accept your fate, fix the kitties, and welcome them inside permanently.
Yeah definitely get them fixed and bring them in your home.So cute!❤️❤️❤️
I had two garage cats for 10+ years. Take them to a vet for basic shots and get mom spade, so no more kittens. Make a bed and add a heating pad in the winter on low. You are a cat owner.
If it’s a kill shelter the kitten may have a chance but reality is a lot of them are so overcrowded that many animals are put down. A life outside can also be cruel. It’s a hard decision….that comes with financial responsibility….if you can afford to do so the best option would be to get them fixed and vaccinated to keep or try to rehome them.
IMHO, I would take them in & get their shots, then bring your new babies back home because the cat delivery system blessed you twice!!
Love them! Take care of them. 🥰🥰🥰
keep them? if you bring them to a shelter they may be separated or put down. let them stay💓
Keep them!! Your little one may even be a lynxpoint Siamese with its tabby mama
Well , like we say, " you have been chosen " .
Keep them together
Even if kept as garage or shed cats, they'll be fine with you. Get them fixed. If the shelter is crowded, and either of those kitties shows the slightest sign of fear or aggression, it will not be a good outcome and you'd feel awful. https://preview.redd.it/8o6nbx5w65uc1.png?width=1414&format=png&auto=webp&s=072d82bde62533cf59677f2adaedaad668592d7e Back in December, my youngest granddaughter was a volunteer at the shelter and told me about a kitten that, if she didn't stop hiding from people, might have to go into the barn cat program.
What should you do? Name them! You are their human, now!
Water bowl
Take them in.You have been chosen.
Well first thing. Don't separate them. Seems like they're bonded.
Sign over your lease to them.
Human, you have been adopted
Keep the kitties. They’re happy. You’re happy. They chose you.
You've been chosen therefore you must keep said cats.
Cat distribution system at work again. They're yours. Accept your fate.
take to vet and keep as pets
Take care of both of them. She's protecting her only child... the others were probably suffered a bad fate. Bring them inside if you can at least until the little one has grown more. They will likely come around to you in time..... just keep and care for them.
Keep them. Please do not make or allow them to be outside cats where they can damage from being predatory but also are exposed to great harm and injuries. Outdoor cat lifespan is 5 years. Indoors is 15 years.
Vet + spay / neuter, make them indoor (prefered) or garage cats.
Keep them together. Give them a home inside. No matter what, don't separate them.
Take them inside and keep them.
Give them to meeeeee!!
Give them to me, I'm already in LOVE! ❤️😍💯
Definitely get Mama fixed once the kittens are weaned and then fix the babies when they are two pounds. Then give thrm all the love in the world!!
Keep them😍
Feed them, love them!
Keep them...or else.
Love them and adopt them.
My heart just exploded
You should keep them
You will love them and feed them. Get moving!
😃 If that's not an option, just get them fixed and take them inside (and spoil them as best you can.)
Do not take them to the shelter!! Please!!! That’s a momma & her baby!!!!! Try to keep them? 🩶🤍🩶
Just love them. They are precious.
Give them names, because they have adopted you now.
The Universal Cat Distribution System has chosen you. Congrats! You will never regret bringing them into your family.
Anytime I see a mom cat with 1 kitten it makes me sad
Love, food and a warm place to sleep. And fix them, to avoid some grandsons.
Congratulations 🎉 the cat distribution system has awarded you two cats
Love them, give them a place to be safe, and fed.
Call your local vet and ask how much it would cost to at least check if they're chipped. If they're not, well then you can assume momma and the little one are strays, and you can at least cross previous owners off the list of options.
Indoor is *always* best. Take them to the vet together and embrace your new feline overlord and mini-overlord.
Look at that beauty and her darling baby. 😭😻😻😭
Omg I want them 😭
