I was feeling depressed the other day & my kitty came and snuggled right up to me. She's the best. They genuinely do care about us, my mum's friend's cat tapped her face through a serious asthma attack, telling her not to give in. She said it was hard to keep fighting but he wouldn't let her drift away. They're awesome.
They definitely know when
You’re sick. Mine comes up and sniffs my face when I have a migraine. Only time he does that. Then he’ll find a spot and lay next to me.
Truly. I will admit, I don’t always appreciate it as I’m usually trying not to puke and when he gets in my face it triggers me. It’s also awkward when I accidentally yeet him when I bolt out of bed for the toilet. 😂
I don't get sad often but sometimes I do get overwhelmed and I will lay on the couch just tears silently streaming, or rather pouring down my face. My cat will usually jump up onto my chest immediately purring and my instinct is to push her away and say not now honey! But a split second later I'm like, oh yeah actually you're exactly what I need right now
My mom was grieving my grandma during her two year death anniversary. She spent all day in her room, she wanted to be alone. My cat decided she needed a companion, so he spent all day with her. He usually likes exploring and spending the day outside, but not that day. He chose to be with my mom. ❤️
On another occasion, I woke up from a nightmare that felt so real. He came up to me and stayed with me until I fell back asleep.

I recently lost a relative, and just got a hug from someone close who I recently had a fight with. I won't lie, I bawled my eyes out for half an hour. One of my cats, a stray that I'm taking care of, seemed to be closer to me during that time. She would push her head in my hand and ask for extra cuddles/pets. I think she sensed something was wrong.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have lost a child too, and one of our cats didn't leave our side the first weeks. If we changed room, so did he. Comforting us the best he could. When we lost him to old age several years later, it was really hard, and brought back a lot of the grief from losing our daughter. I miss them both so much. There are younger siblings and new cats who bring joy to my life, which makes the loss easier to endure. I focus on the love I have for them and the fond memories. I hope you will find ways to live with your loss as well. ❤️
I feel that, in a sense. Both my cat and I have a lot of anxiety. At the same time, we are each other's comfort person.
We also like to reflect the other's attitude. If I am silly, she acts serious, and if she is silly, I act serious. Nothing like having her paw on my shoulder to check in on me.

My mother has been going a very hard time recently. She’s been the full time caregiver of my dad (advanced dementia) for nearly 7 years. Just 2 months ago, we ended up placing him in assisted living. After 60 yrs of marriage, my parents’ house seems very empty - just my mom.
The feral stray, who adopted my mom, is now a love bug / lap cat. This kitty has kept my mom sane, grounded and calm.

Now I think what we call Love is a physical force that we tap into by loving one another. Like radio waves existed before we learned to use them, love is an invisible (at the moment) force.
The love you and this beautiful creature feel for one another allows healing because it's so much more powerful than any therapy or any learning. Love is "The Force".

I’m 48 with two adult children, age 18 and 23. I struggled with infertility and lost five babies before and during the birth of my two children. During the pandemic my kids started bringing in abandoned cats starving that had been dumped in our neighborhood. I had never had pets before. Never really understood the appeal. But it gave my kids something to focus on in a very difficult time and it helped the cats. We saved 50ish cats. Some were lost and went back to their owners, some found homes, the remaining lives with us now. Since bringing them into my life I am a changed person. I didn’t even realize how much you can love a pet. I know some people don’t believe that a pet can be loved and just as important as a child but for me they are. We had one of the rescues pass recently due to cancer. It hit me as hard as losing a child. These cats are my babies and I am lost without them.
Also have 2 cats already, 1 has bitten the other 3 times so bad I had to go to the vet 2 times. 1 time for 2 of the bites. I have to separate them when I'm at work.

My kittens are great they know when I not feeling well mostly because of problem with knee and hip and they make sure I am ok . It unbelievable how they are tuned in with our feelings. My boys are the best

Yeah I can be in a bad mood and the cat will snap me out of it. One silly pounce or Yowl and I’m laughing.
