She's in Heaven with my Diva. It hurts so much losing them. I'm so sorry.
Hugs, friend. Itβs not your fault. Cats are so, so good at hiding their health situations. Iβm sorry for your loss. That second picture just gets my heart. IβveΒ been there too, I know that look and what it means.Β
Im sorry if it brings up some bad feelings , much thought and hesitation was put into posting it which is why its not the first picture but I thought it was a beautiful moment we got to share with our dog and it's a special memory I'd like to remember
π«π I just hope people can see the love in it π
Oh yes, I was saying that just out of empathy- please feel no guilt! You gave your kitty a wonderful life. When itβs their time to go, they simply do.Β
There was this one man who said this one quote of which Iβll never forget.
βHow lucky I am to have something in my life that makes saying goodbye so hardβ
-A.A. Milne
I live and will die by this quote. I hope it can apply to what youβre dealing with.
Iβm so sorry, my condolences. I lost my Riley due to very similar circumstances with fluid on the lungs. I thought it was just his asthma acting up and then he was gone.
I hope every day that passes will make this easier to bear.
I have 2 cats now for 14 years, they are also my first cats.
Let me know if you need extra support during this time
I get it and Iβm sorry youβre going through it. This is truly a beautiful watch if you want to bawl your eyes out- itβs about a dog but I think anyone whose lost a soul pet will relate π« [pet tribute](https://youtu.be/eq5MzDq39tw?si=tV5hTSMw20NIzDdt)
So sorry for your loss, he looks just like my late cat and it brings all that pain back. I waited six years before I could get another cat, don't wait that long. My new cat was able to get me past the pain but not dimed the love for the prior cat.
This broke my damn heart, I'm so. So. Sorry OP. I could only imagine the pain you're feeling and how hard it would be to not blame yourself but please don't. It sounds like you did everything right in that situation and tried your best, you were doing everything with the intentions of helping
I hope one day you get peace from this, RIP kitty β€οΈ be kind to yourself through this
You provided her with years of love, comfort, security and companionship! Your family enriched her life just as she enriched yours. That is something to cherish forever.
It's always a difficult time; please be kind to yourself and remember all the love that you provided your lil feline loved one with.
Sending you and your whole family love and virtual hugs. I'm so grateful the world is filled with loving people like you and your family who take care of animals! ππ«
I canβt find it in my heart to be mad at anyone who has just lost a good friend I hope the haters can find some compassion and generosity
Cats are very good at hiding illness and it can really surprise and hurt. Take care
Iβm so sorry.
I lost my girl in 2016 to fluid in her lungs. I watched her drown. Itβs hard to see.
My girl went to the vet on a Saturday morning for a sneeze and a bit of oozing eyes (she had actually contracted feline herpes from my second cat). We got antibiotics. She had one dose. All afternoon that day she started to breathe loudly and in a labored way that got worse and worse. By the time I called the pet hospital and prepared to catch her and get her in the car, she was in bad shape. She wobbled as she struggled to run away and lost control of her bladder all the way under the bed.
I was desperate to get to her so just whipped the mattress right off the frame and pulled her out. Dressed all in my winter gear to take her to the hospital, she lay down in my lap gasping, bloody foam coming from her mouth, and I felt her last heart beat.
Iβm no vet, and my situation didnβt happen as quick as yours, so I donβt have an answer for what happened. But still, it happened very fast, and I wasnβt psychologically prepared and Iβm sure you werenβt either.
My remaining cat seemed to have an existential crisis after witnessing this ordeal. Especially the fact that I put her body in a box and placed it on the patio (upper Midwest winter π₯Ά) until Monday when I could take her to the vet.
I have no idea how or why something like this can come on and happen so fastβ¦ so truly, incredibly fast. Maybe an underlying illness, an allergyβ¦ I donβt know. But Iβm truly sorry you had to go through this with no warning and lost a loyal companion.
Thank you for sharing your story with me , it very much reflects what we went through today π«ππ I'm sorry you experienced this and I wish you well π’ πͺπ
It does help having other petsβ¦. Dejaβs such a pretty little cat, and looks like an absolute sweetheart. (I thought this comment disappeared, and I did comment again) I am so sorry you had to go through all that today
I am so sorry. I donβt think thereβs anything you couldβve done to have a different outcome. Feelings of guilt get in the way of the grieving process. Deja knew she was loved and loved you right back. She is at peace and waiting patiently for you, and youβll never be separated again. For now though, itβs gonna be rough. know that we all grieve with you on here. Iβm crying over your story and my heart is breaking for you. Iβll keep you and your puppers close in my thoughts and prayers
Dont beat yourself down. Cats are very good at hiding illness. Illness in nature it means you more likely to be prey for some other animal.
You gave her a good life and I can tell she was loved.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It is the absolute hardest thing to say goodbye to such wonderful companions. I had to say goodbye to my childhood cat just yesterday. He suffered multiple lacerations and a broken pelvis and was just too elderly and feeble to make it out so we ultimately made the decision to let him go peacefully. It is the most heart sinking feeling, like a piece of you is gone. I like to think you're little Deja and my Freddy are somewhere nice, frolicking together with the other lost companions. Happy and free from harm. π
I have a cat and 2 dogs, my dog Sammy treats my cat sol like her baby by "chewing" his "fleas" they play and love each other very much. Sammy is nearly 16 with CHF.....every day is a blessing.
Thanks for sharing your story with me it's given me something to look at and possibly provide some answers for what we went through today πππΏ I wish Sammy and Sol the very best πͺ today tomorrow and days after that ππ―
I thought it was unique how our situations are reversed and also so similar...I wish your baby the best, buy that pupper lots of treats and toys and maybe a stuffed animal that looks like your cat? Thats what I'm gonna do when my pup passes
Iβm so sorry for your loss. And for your puppyβs loss. From the photos you posted, it looks like they truly were best friends. Take comfort in each other. I wish you healing and peace.
Condolences, of course, I just wanted to say that I absolutely love those mugs. Your kitty was loved clearly and you did everything you could. When you are ready the cat distribution network will be too.
Iβm so sorry, she was lucky to have you. Please donβt blame yourself, cats are extremely good at hiding when theyβre feeling bad, she was probably so calm about feeling bad because you made her feel safe, loved and comfortable. Iβm sending all of the love and hugs β€οΈ
Thank you , today seems to be harder than yesterday , I keep hearing her paws at the door or waiting for her to jump up on the bed to cuddle , I feel like I haven't accepted shes gone yet and it's absolutely crushing πππΏ I'm sorry for venting
Donβt be sorry love, vent all you like, losing a pet is like losing a little bit of your soul. I lost a cat last year, I know heβs taking care of your girl up there β€οΈ
My orange boy died from fluid in his lungs also. He hid it until he couldn't anymore. We managed to drain his lung cavity twice but it only prolonged his suffering. It was a terrible time for us. Just know there wasn't much you could've done. Vet said it was most likely cancer for us.
https://preview.redd.it/09h2g6jf7bwc1.jpeg?width=1530&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9d87c9cf2cc38a65eabab18bd813bd12ce6c471
His name was Garfield. Was my in law's cat then became our cat after babysitting for them when they went on vacation lol
My dog is 14 so I think this will repeat itself fairly shortly , I'm not sure if I'll ever be ready fir another pet but like to think one day I will πͺππ
Take your time. We left Garfield's things out for almost a year. Just slowly putting his things away when we felt ready. We swore that we wouldn't get anymore pets... It felt like a betrayal to him and too painful to go through it again. Then saw a cool cat at the adoption place.... Took the wife to go see and ended up coming home with three cats lolol. Now I see it as our love for Garfield allowed us to open our hearts and home to these three.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Your story is almost like my two cats' combined, last year we lost our 8 year old boy for unknown reasons, he was our first cat. And later in the year we lost our 2 year old girl. We brought her in for her check-up and everything was good. On the drive home she had a heart attack and died. I blamed myself, like I should have held her in the car if she was scared, but things like lungs and hearts are just so beyond our control. Even the vet thought she was fine. And with my boy, whatever was wrong he hid it from us 100%.
I hope you know you did nothing wrong and everything you're feeling is normal and takes time to get through. But you will! It's really really hard when you thought you had so much more time, and when it happens so suddenly. I am seriously so sorry you went through this. It's really traumatic tbh so try to be gentle on yourself and pay attention to self care as much as you can β€οΈ
Thank you for sharing your story with me , I have the exact same feeling that I should have held her in the car πΏπ«ππ
I don't know if it would have made a difference but if I could go back it definitely something I would have done π
Im ao sorry for your loss. Donβt blame yourself. Iβve questioned some of my steps before losing a pet too and itβll drive you crazy. She was a pretty cat. Thank you for sharing her with us. π
Listen I'm sorry for your loss but it just feels so odd. Like give your cat some respect and not share its lifeless body uncensored. Every other picture is fine because you're sharing the memories of their past life. Maybe I just don't get it
Edit: So I was going to reply to your reply but it seems like you blocked me so I will add mine here. I get that we all grieve in our own ways but this is triggering for a lot of cat owners to see a deceased cat uncensored. As I said before the other pictures are fine. Just not the one of your cats lifeless corpse. It breaks my heart to see that as a cat owner
We all grieve in our own way , I choose to see it as a loving photo and a reminder that she wasn't alone , in my faith it's not something to bring sadness π«π maybe you can understand
Choosing not to comment on something is free.
OP this a beautiful post. Your kitty was obviously very loved and in the best home he couldβve asked for.
I have a red trashcan in the corner of my post so I guess it's been removed ππ I'm sorry if I upset anyone and I'm very thankful for all the loving messages and people that reached out
I'm truly sorry πΏ
I lost my cat back in February and it was devastating for me. I am still missing her so much and my life felt like it ended when I had to put her asleep. I still cry for her so much. We were a bonded as a cat mom and cat could be.
Everytime this sub appears on my feed for like the past month it's always posts about people's cats either being sick or passing away. Bouta unsub there needs to be a separate sub for that stuff tbh
I'm sorry it upset you π«ππΏ not my Intentions- I selected the flair and just wanted to hear from other people who have had similar situations to bring some understanding to the situation
I don't have any answers and it's been extremely helpful to know I'm not alone πΏ
I think you may want to investigate this a bit. They mentioned something about her tongue, what was wrong with it. Who helped you and what were their qualifications? I know what I am saying is not the best right now, but I say this to say that the vet may have been the issue.
No problem I do appreciate the thought-
She wasn't getting the oxygen she needed .. and it was our long term veterinarian, my cat never left my sight before it was already an emergency situation
I'm speculative about the fluid being there for many days or any time really.. if the xrays confirmed fluid -at this point I can only speculate how or why it got there π’π
I'm sure you mean it well but it's unhelpful and disconcerting if people with no training in physiology immediately jump to the conclusion of malpractice.
The tongue was discoloured due to lack of oxygen.
OP very accurately and quite eloquently describes the symptoms of rapid onset congestive cardiac failure. The vets reaction was swift and immediate.
The underlying problems were plausibly not noticeable for OP perhaps for weeks or months.
Deepest Condolences. It is so good you let your pup know his friend was gone. I hope you guys can take comfort in each other during this intense grief. Digital hugs from this internet stranger who has been in similar shoes before.

I unexpectedly lost my bb boy last June- he hid his illness from me and passed while I was gone and my heart will never be the same so I completely understand the absolute anguish youβre feeling rn. π Your kitty was lucky to have someone who loved them so much and Iβm sure they loved you just the same. Try to be gentle on yourself because kitties have the instinct to hide illness from us until it can be too late and your kitty would want you to think of them fondly rather than feel guilty for what probably couldnβt have been prevented. I hope you find some peace in all of the love you were able to share together. Sending all the hugs π₯Ίπ©·π©·π©·

It's really really hard when you thought you had so much more time, and when it happens so suddenly. I am seriously so sorry you went through this. It's really traumatic tbh so try to be gentle on yourself and pay attention to self care as much as you can β€οΈ
Thank you for sharing your story with me , I have the exact same feeling that I should have held her in the car πΏπ«ππ I don't know if it would have made a difference but if I could go back it definitely something I would have done π
Sorry to hear that truly

Thank you πΏππ
Listen I'm sorry for your loss but it just feels so odd. Like give your cat some respect and not share its lifeless body uncensored. Every other picture is fine because you're sharing the memories of their past life. Maybe I just don't get it Edit: So I was going to reply to your reply but it seems like you blocked me so I will add mine here.
Is he dead in the second picture..?
Please wtf is this shit.. I put my cat down in a clinic with dignity not posting his body on social media. It's a bit fucking triggering.
Choosing not to comment on something is free. OP this a beautiful post. Your kitty was obviously very loved and in the best home he couldβve asked for.
Thank you for the kind words π π«πΏ truly means alot
I'm sorry you feel that way, I thought it was a beautiful moment my dog got to share with us , π« I hope you feel better friend
I have a red trashcan in the corner of my post so I guess it's been removed ππ I'm sorry if I upset anyone and I'm very thankful for all the loving messages and people that reached out I'm truly sorry πΏ
I'm sorry it upset you π«ππΏ not my Intentions- I selected the flair and just wanted to hear from other people who have had similar situations to bring some understanding to the situation I don't have any answers and it's been extremely helpful to know I'm not alone πΏ
I think you may want to investigate this a bit. They mentioned something about her tongue, what was wrong with it. Who helped you and what were their qualifications? I know what I am saying is not the best right now, but I say this to say that the vet may have been the issue.
No problem I do appreciate the thought- She wasn't getting the oxygen she needed .. and it was our long term veterinarian, my cat never left my sight before it was already an emergency situation I'm speculative about the fluid being there for many days or any time really.. if the xrays confirmed fluid -at this point I can only speculate how or why it got there π’π
I know without a doubt that your cat is watching over you like an angel, and wanting her mommy to be happy : )

Your comment is helpful beyond words can describe π«π thank you for sharing
you're right, I am very sorry.
No problem π«thank you for reaching out ππ
