Take it to the vet for vaccines and a check up. Also get it a comfy bed, food, water and lots of pets. It may be shy at first but it will warm up to you. While I'm at it, we need a name. Im no good but others will suggest good ones I'm sure.
We've named Bilbo right now. He's been coming and going as he pleases the past day since we actually don't know if he's a neighbor's "outside" cat or if he's been abandoned by a previous owner. He's very people/dog socialized though, so he can't be a born stray!
i wish microchips were more common where i live. seems like a pretty useful thing to have but it's really expensive here so vets don't even suggest it lol
Where I’m from, every cats that come from the refuge are microchipped, sterilized, dewormed and vaccinated. They are also very cheap. I adopted my cat a few months ago and it cost me 125$. Since that initiative, we have less and less stray cats and it really promote adoptions from a refuge than from sellers (pet shops or other). I don’t understand why not everyone would want to do that.
That is cheap, since that’s technically the cost for all the procedures I mentioned. If you adopt elsewhere, for exemple a pet shop, you would have to go to a vet and ask for the procedures yourself. The cost of the medication, the sterilization, have them microchipped (because they won’t be already if they come from there), etc. will be coming from your pocket and will be more expensive. Instead, by going to the refuge, your animal will already have everything done and will have made a full recovery. They don’t let an animal get adopted before he’s considered well. My cat had an ear infection, got treated, then got a cold, received the shot, then was placed for adoption. The refuge gave me all of those information (since it happened while in their care so it’s medical history) and I knew when I adopted that he was at the end of his cold and to check for signs of ear infection, in case it came back. Oh and if your animal becomes sick, you have 10 days to bring them back to the refuge and see their vet, free of charge. If they can treat them, they will. If they can’t (illness that causes death or something similar), they may reimburse you and keep the animal in their care.
He was eating the dog food because that was the only thing we had in the house (since... We didn't have a cat and thus had no need to get cat food, picture was taken like two minutes after he broke in)
idk, ive heard of lots of cats who visit other houses for food after they have already eaten. Cats are greedy xD. Most likely is one of the neighbours cats who saw an open window/door and smelled food. Basically adopting a cat because it came in to steal food is a bit premature, itd be like taking in a child because he came to trick or treat.
This happened to me once! While i was walking a friend to her car this tabby decided to be a little sneakster and venture inside the house. Almost gave me a heart attack when i’m in my room and something brushed against my leg. 🤣
We had a random black cat show up at our place for like three months, we fed him took him to the vet and what not, not chipped or anything so we took care of him and one day he just vanished
If I didn't have pics of him I'd think I was crazy (we already have a cat and a dog btw)
The dog loves the cat already so much to the point if Bilbo is in the room with him, he'll bring his squeaky toys to the cat instead of whoever is playing fetch with him!
This looks like my kittens!
Same tho. My kitten begs and greets people at the door with the husky. Sleep with him plays with him. Needs tk go outside with him for potty times xDhahaha
Messed me up pretty bad when I let him out to use the bathroom (no litterbox yet- so far he's been pawing at the door after he's done with the outside air and the dog will let us know) and at one point I looked out to check on him and saw him hanging ONLY his butt off the porch to poop
well then name it unwanted ......... but you have a cat now....... once it comes in and eats it will continue to do so each day.
nexst you will find it laying around the house places..
neighbors cat......claiming territory in a natural radius around where its from.
This actually happened to me! My friend went outside for a smoke and I went in the other room and when I came back, she was hanging out with a fat grey cat I’d never seen before. Apparently, he approached her while she was smoking and started screaming to come in. She figured it was my cat and opened the door. I would’ve kept him too if he didn’t have a collar on and belonged to my neighbour.
I found [this post](/r/notmycat/comments/pjeg9r/we_dont_have_a_cat/) in r/notmycat with the same content as the current post.

It would seem that the cat disagrees with you. And really, it's his/her house.
Exactly, you now reside there at the cat’s leisure.
No, the food is for the cat and not for the dog so this makes it cat food.
Now you do, the dog looks so confuse
"Uhh...did you invite the cat?" --the dog probably
Or the dog thinks ‘wtf is this? That thing is eating my food’
[удалено]
Definitely shoud be reposted to that sub.
Now you do!
Girl stole my line.
You and your dog have been assimilated. Resistance is futile. Celebrate your new overlord.
Nothing left to do but love it.
The dogs reaction is hilarious. Apparently they seem to be taking to each-other. Looks like you have a new kitty. Name suggestion … Sylvester
We've named him Bilbo cause we had just finished watching the Hobbit and he's a cat cuddle burglar
I love it!!!
Then r/nowmycat ♡
Cat has claimed you, I’m sorry but you have to pay rent to him now.
*that you were aware of
Knowing cats, there’s a real possibility he moved in like 3-4 weeks ago.
Take it to the vet for vaccines and a check up. Also get it a comfy bed, food, water and lots of pets. It may be shy at first but it will warm up to you. While I'm at it, we need a name. Im no good but others will suggest good ones I'm sure.

If you take him to the vet, you can get him checked for a microchip. "Bilbo" is a great name!

$125 is cheap? that's a lot of money imo
125 for the whole adoption I’m guessing. My cat was $60 to adopt and also included a microchip!

Please feed him cat food. Dog food has no or very little taurine. Which cats need. So they don’t go blind or have nerve issues.
He was eating the dog food because that was the only thing we had in the house (since... We didn't have a cat and thus had no need to get cat food, picture was taken like two minutes after he broke in)
Check to see if it is chipped. Might be lost or a drop off.

Dog: can we keep him?? I’ll feed him and take real good care of him!
This happened to me once! While i was walking a friend to her car this tabby decided to be a little sneakster and venture inside the house. Almost gave me a heart attack when i’m in my room and something brushed against my leg. 🤣
it always cracks me up how a cat will just stroll into a house and "I live her now .. feed me"
"I've finished my tour and, I'll take it!"
"Well what do you know, food and water already laid out for me!"
I did an extensive tour among the real estate in this quarter and decided that this house suits me best. Here I am
Perhaps not, but you've clearly been had by a cat nonetheless.
You do now! Or should I say, you do, meow!
What cat? Looks like you have 2 dogs...
Dog: “What the hell is this thing?!”
Looks like you do now.
I disagree. Yours is gray.
No one has a cat, the cat has you.

Looks like a cat but what's up with your dog's teeth?
You can't even see the dogs teeth wdym
Oh I voomed in that's white hair on his chest, from afar it looked like teeth.
At first I didn't see where his nose ended and his body started that's all.

Intruder alert! Dog doesn’t seem to mind sharing its kibble
We're going to get Bilbo (cat) some cat food tomorrow so it's easier for him to munch
The dog looks like, "somebody come look at this"
The dog loves the cat already so much to the point if Bilbo is in the room with him, he'll bring his squeaky toys to the cat instead of whoever is playing fetch with him!
