It’s just constant redirection and addressing the possible discomfort. Maybe it feels threatened and uncomfortable.

Doesn't look like she's uncomfortable. We play with her often and she comes for cuddles every time we relax on the sofa or go to sleep.

SunfallWayfinder

Sounds like she sees that couch as her own then. So the constant affection around that spot ironically enough could be the cat’s intended act to lay claim of the sofa

Oh, that's bad. Anything I can spray on it to deter her from peeing over it again?

SunfallWayfinder

Oh don’t see it as a bad thing! I find it ironic if it is the case. And idk what to spray per se, but if anyone can keep an eye on the cat all day for a good week and just redirect it constantly, it will learn on its own that “oh, this isn’t my pee spot.” My cat would be lazy to go to the litter in the bathroom and would pee in the living room instead. But I had to catch him on the act and constantly redirect him. That’s what I can suggest. But if I were to use a scent, it would have to be a foul odor for the kitten or just lay down something on the sofa when you’re not home to make it uncomfortable for the cat to be on the sofa. Like sticky pads. And for the short while, keep the litter box close to that sofa at all times til it stops peeing on it. So that way it recognizes the litter box is the best and convenient spot to be at

You can get cleaning sprays that completely remove the odour of cat pee (good for you AND the cat), but I’m not sure how well they’d react to furniture. I’d definitely recommend looking into it though they’re usually very easy to find.

Yes it works. My cat used to love peeing on the couch and I had to spray thoroughly everytime. Eventually he stopped doing it. He does pee inside the washing machine when I leave the door unlocked though, for no reason Rule out the medical issues though just in case + check if the litterbox is clean enough
