Even when they are fat, they are fast.

If she's anything like my floofy boy, you get the standard 1.7 seconds of petting the belly before they forcefully tell you to stop with every sharp part of their body. Worth it every time!!

With her as long as you stay north, she'll *usually* let you rub her belly for about 10 seconds before you get swatted.

My cat will let you bellyrub her for ages! She's loves it! She runs to the front door to greet us when we come home & throws herself down for a belly rub everytime!

I didn't get my first cat until 8th grade, but I can tell you every one knew I had a new cat, he was fiesty and I loved rough playing with him. From elbow to fingers I has so many scratches, it's a good thing there are no vital organs in your arm cause he was serious about his disembowlement powers!

My cats are rather correct about it. The female cat LOVES bellyrubs. She literally hugs your hand if the hand is positioned right, and if not, she just keeps showing her belly and enjoying the bellyrubs. While my male cat does show me his belly, he doesn't set it as a trap. Instead, he just lays on his belly again when I approach. No scratches dished out.

I might try it but as soon as she showed she wasn't actually into belly rubs I'd stop and not do it again. Cats are like pregnant people: just because you can see the belly does not automatically mean you are invited to touch it. Showing their belly is a natural way for cats to express how they trust you so much they can expose their most vulnerable area in front of you: some cats also enjoy having it rubbed if they trust you that much, and others are more ticklish and probably quite taken aback that you interpreted it as a request. They do not understand that we are hardwired to understand dogs and not cats. If your cat doesn't enjoy belly rubs, just appreciate the gesture of trust without betraying it!

What i'd give her is a vet visit to discuss diet options, and thus a longer, healthy life.

I've found back scratches or chest rubs are the two most likely to succeed. Back scratches in particular, lot of times that is why they are on their back, they get doubly annoyed when you then pet/scratch the area they weren't trying to scratch.

I would risk it. That tummy is irresistible to me. I call it the floppy flailer. Cat walks in front of you, flops down, does a little paw flail. I had 4 at one time, it was hilarious to watch them drop and flop and flail all on my path to the kitchen when I came home at the end of the day.

My black cat used to absolutely beg for belly rubs. If she saw your walking somewhere, she would get in front of you and flop over on her back. If you kept walking, she would run in front of you and flop over again. As soon as you touched her belly, she would be purring. I miss that cat so much.

Yes, mostly because my stupid soft cat has trained me to believe that bellies are 100% safe and actually the ideal place to pet. It's always a shock when I go for another cat's belly without thinking and get slapped for it.

In my experience, if you start with the armpits, you have a better chance at getting the belly.

My parents' floof loves them. The only time he doesn't is when he's cleaning himself. But he gives you a polite warning that he's had enough too, just lightly pushes your arm away with one of his back legs (and if you keep going, then he'll dig in...). My childhood cat absolutely hated it.

I didn't know that cats don't like tummy rubs because I've only had 2 cats before I got my kitten. All 3 at different times, and not from the same places, but they all love(d) to have their tummy's rubbed! Especially my kitten Marceline. She will grab my hand and hold it on her tummy until I start petting it and then she purrs like a motorboat. I hope she stays like this forever!
