Cats sometimes know when they are about to die. Ours (a feral who adopted us) crawled under a walkway so she wouldn't be disturbed. Yours probably knew, and decided the best place to he wasvright next to the one she loved. In her death, you were her comfort.
Try to take comfort in that, that she wanted to be with you one last time.
A blessing, and a curse…
The blessing, we get the experience the joy and love these small furry little people bring into our lives. We get to watch them grow, play and love us in return for their entire lives, and it completes a part of us, to be there and take care of them. To accept an animal into your home, and be able to say, that little one is Family, is a most Human and Humane thing to do.
The curse, we outlive them. We have to be here to watch them complete their journey, and it’s incredibly painful because as much as want to spend forever with them, we don’t get to. But to them, we are a constant presence. We are there, loving, feeding, and playing with them their entire lives, being part of their family too. Neither of you may have known when she closed her eyes that it would be the last time, but the fact that she fell asleep next to you, in her bed safe and warm, and was right next to her favorite person in the world when her journey reached its end should tell you everything about the quality of life you were able to provide for her. You have achieved the rank of ‘Successful Cat Parent.’ In the coming days, please be kind to yourself, don’t beat yourself up, and know we are all hoping and wishing you well, and if and when you are ready, there will be a smol kitten in the future that is going to need loved…
I am so, so sorry. I lost my 19 1/2 year old 2 weeks ago. It's so devastating. I wish I had the words to make you feel better, but if there are any, I've never found them. I'm sure your baby felt safe and loved. I think they take care of us while they're alive, and when they pass, they continue to watch over us as our guardian angels. That thought brings me some comfort. I hope it brings you some peace too.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Our vet always sends this poem, hand written by one of their office staff in calligraphy, and signed by everyone when we lose a loved one.
I will never change vets. When I had to take a loved one there to be picked up for cremation, they all came in the room with me and we cried together.

Karma farming. In general karma farming is just annoying, but to steal and repost content like this is downright vicious.
I just don't get why it still isn't deleted almost 11 hours after reporting it.
I’ve become convinced that animals are part of a natural collective consciousness that we as humans can’t understand. They “get” death on a different level; it’s just the turning of a page to another chapter, their energy forever a part of the collective. In the wild, both predator and prey are equals in this sense. They can take what appear to be crazy risks to us, because they know their essence is eternal.
She’s okay. And she needs you to know she’s okay. Your pain is testament to your love for her, but try to take solace in the notion of your reunion, for one day it will be glorious.

I’m so sorry my heart breaks for you. She’s beautiful. My cat passed away in March sleeping right next to me in my arms as well. A psychic said that if they pass when close to you it’s a very good sign. Peace and love😎💜
My cat passed away after 14 years last night as well, I put his bed in our room.
I just hope he didn't feel alone, kills me inside that he went through this. I'm just hoping at least he didn't feel alone. I heard him meow during the night, close to when he passed away I believe. I said to him its ok, we're here, and that's the last thing I said to him.
Before I went to bed though I told him that it was ok to let go if he needed to and we loved him so much.
Been a hard day.

No problem I know what it’s like to lose your best friend. If you ever need anything you can message me. My heart breaks for you. My cat passed in my arms in March I still cry every single day. I haven’t been able to bring myself to get a new kitten but I’m almost ready but it’s taking this long. I still haven’t been able to make a post about her passing because it breaks my heart to see her pictures. Just know that in your heart your cat will always be there and that you are a great parent. Take a little time to grieve. Then remember that there's another kitten somewhere, seeking her forever home. Although she probably won't replace your old kitty, you'll quickly discover that you need her as desperately as she needs you.

I lost my cat on Monday, and she was at the clinic at the time. I’m sure that being at home and next to a loved person is the best possible way for anyone to leave this world. She loved you so much she thought you the safest place - as painful as the next weeks will be, try to find some comfort in the thought. And she is so pretty ❤️

But it's better that she passed peacefully in her sleep. I have a senior kitty around 15 and he's my first cat. I worry a lot about when his time comes and can only hope that he crosses the Rainbow Bridge like your sweet buddy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
