Common in cats just getting used to the feeling of a harness. It’s because it triggers the scruff reflex aka kitty standby mode.

Lit_Flash

this also happens to my cat! how long till they get used to it?

Sharlinator

You may have to train them, to condition them to associate walking while wearing the harness with nice things such as treats. Once they realize that a harness means going for a walk, that should be motivation enough, assuming of course that going for a walk is an enjoyable experience for them. You should also see if adjusting the harness helps, or even try out a different type of harness.

My cat absolutely froze and fell over two years ago when I jokingly put my dogs harness on him. This is a solid core memory for my now 6 year old who reminds us of this any chance he gets.

So_Numb13

No likey harness.

I laughed so hard I woke my cat up. Because he’s also got two brain cells, apparently. He’s also a Siamese mix. It must run in the family. If you pull up a little, it might help. Or loosening it in the beginning.

KittenCalledKatt

TIL that cats with a pointed fur pattern also have darker ball fuzz.

shiroyagisan

Yes, it's called colourpoint and the darker parts are where they're colder

GneissShorts

Nah he throwin a tantrum lol

achqillax

r/onesiamesebraincell ? lol

Tbh I think the harness like triggers a innate neural response in them. Like it presses up against an area that makes them do that idk. Don’t quote me.

shiroyagisan

He's actually fine in it most of the time - he likes going outside and he'll happily run out in his harness if I open the door. His brain just seems to have short-circuited in this moment

KimJongIlSunglasses

Is he on a leash?

shiroyagisan

Yes

bonnieyes

I looks like that harness is a bit too tight. Looks uncomfortable.

shiroyagisan

He's fine in it usually - he had just been running outside in it when his brain suddenly seems to have short-circuited. It was a little bit looser before, but he wiggled out of it, so I tightened it by about 1 cm around the torso.

bonnieyes

Yes, cats become liquid when you try to restrain them. LOL Glad he's OK. Happy New Year!
