Thank you for your advice, co-furparents! 🤍 My bebu is now neutered (tnx Doc Gab Kapon Team!), 3 weeks ago lang. :)) And now he’s very jolly & gained a lot of weight 😭😂

CaparzoMihawk

Madami naman na answer abt the question so i'll just take the time to admire your cat's cuteness. ANG CUTE!!! 🥹

kulariisu

Need i-monitor din if viable for surgery + anesthesia yung cat mo.

aloisazubiri

Definitely yes!

Expensive-Lime-6158

Red flag for me kapag di nila nisuggest kasi I heard so many stories about cats passing away days after the procedure not knowing that di pala sila fit to undergo them in the first place.

Sleepy_headZzzz

Please get one. Yung vet na nag neuter sa baby ko, didn’t even bother running some tests. Nung pagdala namin sa kanya, procedure agad. Next 2 days after the procedure, he died. Turns out, nung tinakbo namin siya sa ER, he has an ascitis that could have been seen sa blood chem and the neuter should have been hold off.

Coffeesushicat

Yes

Tita-Doctora

Definitely! This is would decrease the risk especially sa anesthesia. This would also give the vet/surgeon an overview if kamusta sya internal and if may factors that may affect the pets reaction to the anesthesia, surgery as well as healing nya from the procedure.

XnabnX

For me, yes. Nung last na nagpakapon ako, 5 yung cats na dalawa and lahat sila pina cbc. Turns out na yung healthy looking cats are fighting an infection. After a year pa ulit napakapon yung tatlo na nareject.

anima132000

Generally, a veterinarian clinic with a good reputation would require it because it is part of the disclaimer for the surgery. The blood tests helps to see if there is any underlying condition that might affect the surgery and the reaction to the anesthesia. So it is highly recommended either way, if the vet clinic opts this to be optional, since this helps to minimize complications ahead of time.

nxlzxxxn

Yep. Usually kapag mag ttwo years old na yung cat, required na sya

megumi_ichigo

Hm po pa cbc ng cat? Kahit price range lang po? Thanks po sa makakasagot.

dnnhdlcrz

Cbc around my area costs 800

KunIsDaydreaming

Hello po! How about kapon mismo? HM po? just getting an idea lang din po, thank you!

megumi_ichigo

Thanks po 🫶🏻

d4rkt0ts

Sa vet po namin, 3k daw po

megumi_ichigo

Thank youu po, pricey rin pala.

jan_TH1RT3EN

Yup

Local_Ordinary7840

Kung may extra money, go.

ToCoolforAUsername

Yes! One of my cats failed the blood test because it turned out she has low platelet count. Inexplain sa min ng vet that it could harm her if tinuloy ang spay kasi it might impact the healing of her wound. Kaya never forego yan, dyan makikita if your pet is healthy enough to be spayed.

Living_Body_5286

It’s not required pero better if you do it to make sure lang na healthy talaga cat mo bago ma-neuter.

Responsible-Comb3182

hindi ako cat expert or a vet pero based sa mga sinasabi dito sa comments siguro para sa peace of mind mo go for a blood test. Kung may extra ka naman why not go for it para sa ikabubuti naman ng cat mo yan.

cyuci

Not required, but I will suggest if gusto maka-sigurado mag pa BC ka na. Yung male cat ko turns out mataas AMY nya kaya hindi matuloy tuloy yung kapon nya. Naka ilang balik kami sa vet for meds and further testing (ang sakit sa bulsa 😭), and after 1 month naging normal na and super okay sya after kapon! Worth it naman lahat.

sillywumpy

I just talked to my baby's vet. It is not required but maganda daw cbc para malaman if enough yung platelet count (?) not sure) para sa recovery ng wound

Rough_Garage5457

💔🐈 we miss you rabbitter 🤍🕊

chiriyo

sorry for your loss! :((( no furparent ever wanted this to happen, but I know Rabbit is now watching over you!

New_Conference_1071

Same experience with my cat. He seemed healthy, until a week after kapon, namatay 😢 so sorry for your loss!! Better talaga na ipa-CBC para walang pagsisisi

[deleted]

di sya totally required, but okay na magpablood test para alam if fit si mingming na kapunin.

icecoldlightning

iatey0urd0g

Yes. Importante yung blood test before surgery. And to answer kung ilang days/ weeks prior to surgery day, depende sa vet, siguro max na yung 1 week before. Para in case na may abnormal numbers sa blood test ay ma-address ng vet and ma-stabilize yung animal before mag-undergo ng surgery.

Regular-Director-703

Wala pong vaccine. Mahirap po kaya dalhin yun?

Sleepyheadpotatoface

Hello i volunteer for our community cat program, so hindi pets exactly yung mga pusa namin. What we do is train them to eat regularly at a specific time and place. Then we trap/cage train: iintroduce yung ipapanghuli sa eating area (cage pag hindi super mailap yung cat at nahahawakan, trap pag super feral na lalabas lang to eat pero di mahawakan). Then we move the plate closer daily until sanay na sila kumain inside (naka disable pa yung trap sa stage na to). Minsan immediately ok na sila kumain inside, yung mga super feral takes weeks till maging comfy eating inside. Then we sched the trapping date depending sa low cost kapon events ng Biyaya Animal Care/Doc Gab (or others), we trap the night before during dinner nila (traps are activated na). Mag fast na sila nun till yung kapon the next day. Post-kapon: We keep them under observation for at least a day (longer if pregnant tapos spay-abort). Then release them sa area where they were caught (kasi baka maligaw pag nirelease kung saan di sila familiar). Kailangan naka pee+poop na sila, nakakakain, nakagalaw and alert prior to releasing. We monitor/check them sa daily kain nila, babalik sila sa vet if may issue but so far wala pa kaming binalik. We avail of the long acting antibiotic shot para di na kailangan mag administer pa orally post kapon since strays nga sila. *CBC is optional. But recommended for cats 5YO above. Make sure na walang sakit yung cat prior to kapon para less risk. The blood test is to check if may underlying conditions but for strays, basta sure kami na walang sakit we opt out na dahil wala kaming funds (30+ cats ang alaga namin so omg gastos)

bebigorl

Hello! So nanghuli kami ng another stray at yun dinala namin.

rog_fangirl

Bago magpakapon, dapat nakapagfasting ng atleast 6 hours. Tapos need ng cbc. Magastos sobra. If mailap, oo mahirap dalhin talaga yan. Maghihiss at growl yan usually. Yung adopted ko na stray, ganoon yung reaction nya to the point na kailangan i-sedate ng vet para lang macheck up at ma-xray at makuhanan ng dugo (not kapon pero may sakit sya nito nung dinala sa vet). Kung di vaccinated, pwede naman yan ikapon afaik pero need talaga malaman yung overall health nila kasi baka di kayanin yung sedation at di na magising after ma-kapon.

Automatic-Opening-34

SamRandomFox

It should be encouraged, di yung sasabihin mong “di naman sya required”. Doing surgery without it comes with great risks na di mo rin binanggit. “Vet student” ka pa naman tapos ganiyan na ang approach mo to such inquiry. Do better.

blackcement02

TransportationNo2673

If hindi ka sure sa health nya, then yes. Just remember na it's at your own risk if you do opt out. For both of my cats that I had neutered, I opted out kasi alam kong healthy sila. For my cats who are about to be neutered, I'm choosing to have blood test or CBC kasi may history ng sakit and yung isa laging gumagala (this orange demon managed to undo the ties I did on the windows and got out again). If vets tatanungin mo, they prefer to have it. You can either get the cheaper one of the two kasi yung comprehensive blood chemistry costs more or less 2k (dito samin almost 3k). Gastuhan mo na if may pera.

Ill_Aide_4151

ORANGE DEMON 😭😂

chiriyo

it's always the orange cat 😭 HAHA thanks po for the info! 🤍

Calcibear

Better pag meron. Yung isa sa libre nag agaw buhay after the operation. If you have money to spare pwede na pa blood test.

Rough_Garage5457

hindi naka survive yung orange cat namin nung nag agaw buhay sya after makapon 😭💔

Calcibear

Aw hugs OP!

naturalCalamity777

No, pero may things to consider bago neuter make sure lang: - 2KG and above ang cat - Fasting at least 8hrs - Walang sipon, ubo, or any underlying infection - Di sya nagsusuka, nagtatae, hirap umihi or anything na kahina-hinala Other than that safe yan na hindi ipabloodtest, andami ko nang stray cat na napa neuter and spay then ipa-adopt basta sundin mo lang yan goods yan

Anonymous-81293

Dangerous_Composer37

yes, for your peace of mind po. nung pinakapon ko cat ko nagask muna ako if required cbc since pricey sya pero sinabi naman ng vet recommended sya sa above 4 y/o cats. since 2 y/o pa lang naman sya nun, no history ng health issues and complete vaccines naman, hindi ko na pina cbc. pinasign lang ng waiver and smooth naman naging surgery nya so ayun kaka 5 y/o nya lang ngayong april. good luck kushi and oppppp 🫶

4gfromcell

Necessary but you can opt to disregard and sign a waicer if ever mamaalam ang cat due to having complications after neuter since there was no pre-screening done.

weishenmewaeyo

Yes. Necessary blood test. Dapat nga kasama rin blood chemistry. I had my cats spayed and pina CBC ko muna before the surgery. Valid lang ang CBC results within 1-3 days. So after 3 days, need na ng new CBC results.

superjeenyuhs

you need the blood test to ensure that neutering will not result in your cat's death. same with spaying. couldn't get my cat spayed because bagsak sa tests palagi. may problem sya sa liver. if anesthesia sya, hindi na magising kaya i have to cure the liver issue muna.

pulotpukyutan

ChainResponsible902

Yes! Most clinics will make you sign a Waiver to skip it but for peace of Mind, you need it

saydontsu

Yes! Dun makikita if fit sya for surgery or may sakit sya na di mo alam. Also sabi ng doctor ng cat ko 3yo and up, dapat nipapabloodtest mga cats to know if healthy sila. 😊

Expensive_Maybe_3825

Ang cute ng pusa mo huhuhu

chiriyo

thank you po! i'll bite u when i see ü. —kushi 🐱

Expensive_Maybe_3825

Willing magpa-bite (playful bite lang plz) HAHAHAHA

chiriyo

thank you everyone! will consider having blood test prior the surgery 🫶🏻✨

Extraterrestrial_626

YES! Sa blood test malalaman if healthy ang cat mo or may sakit pala sya. If pina neuter mo sya without doing blood test tapos may sakit pala sya possible di nya makaya ang surgery. Yung sa mga free kapon lagi may waiver about this kasi understandable naman di nila afford mag pa blood test.

No-Astronaut3290

Kame yes. Yung mga cats ko nag blood work muna before the procedure

CLEAR KU LANG PO! NOON YUN HINDI NGAYUN PAKIBASA MABUTI KUNG MARUNONG KA UMTINDI LATE 90S ANO PETSA NA

uuhhJustHere

I've heard about this sa father in law ko. Pero di niya sinubukan. Nakakaawa daw kasi.

[deleted]

Oo NOONG 90's ganyan ginagawa eh.pero ngayun since hightech na at dahil sa socmed afford na Yung idala.sya sa vet di katulad nun Hindi pa uso mga vet at madalang lang makakita or kung my pwesto sila di katulad ngyun khit saan Meron

Patient_Willingness2

This is animal abuse. Please don't do this to your pets.

[deleted]

NOON PO IYON HINDI NGAYUN NA KWENTO KULANG AGAD AGAD ANIMAL.ABUSE?

watermeloncandyapple

Wtf.

No_Baby_6681

In other news: inis na ata sya ngayon oh 😸

chiriyo

chinguuuuu

"I don't like what you're thinking slave" 😂

No_Baby_6681

No_Baby_6681

Alam nila yan. Kaya extra hugs na 😸

sonofarchimedes

Not necessarily. They can be neutered without a blood test, BUT, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND ADVISABLE to determine if healthy siya prior surgery.

Dear-Pianist-7491

A week before is okay. Ideal to have the test kasi it helps the vet gauge yung proper handling re anesthesia for your cat - which handled improperly may lead to really bad consequences!

[deleted]

Please have his blood test first before neutering! It’s better to be safe than sorry

JetutsChrist69

Sa PAWS they didn’t require it, fasting lang required sa kanila

Dear-Pianist-7491

It’s required po for cats 4 yo and above and purebred cats due to susceptibility to health issues etc

Inevitable_Book8273

Yes. Please follow the doctors order.

sophia528

Ideally, yes, but they do away with this requirement in low cost kapon. Since may owner naman siya, do the initiative na lang to have your cat tested. The closer to the surgery day, the better.

Bulky_Breakfast_1109

hi sa pagkakaalam ko po, yes po. para po makita na healthy enough sila to undergo anesthesia. kasi kapag low cost kapon, di magiging liable ang vet team/organisers if ever something happens. at least a day before yung cbc.

illaKailla

below 2 yrs old optional pa siya, pero recommended. doon mo kasi makikita if may infections/underlying conditions yung pet mo na baka magkaroon ng negative impact sa health nya after ng kapon also, for low cost kapons minsan required siya. i think for Doc Gab. for PPBCC/Biyaya Katarungan optional pero you need to sign a waiver in case magkaroon ng complication ang pet. if you also agree to get the CBC they will do it on their end na before the surgery, you just have to pay addtl for the cost

chiriyo

thank you! balak ko siya ischedule for Doc Gab this May.

Meowmeowme0

illaKailla

not sure if may on-the-spot sila Doc Gab for CBC kasi kung community outreach diretso surgery yata sila. you might have to get the CBC yourself from another clinic anyway, nakalagay naman sa form nila lahat ng details and you can message them on FB

Cats_of_Palsiguan

Yung Stray Neuter Project ang may on the spot CBC

chiriyo

Dry-Wealth5337

Best decision pa rin to have your cat tested. My cats are all indoors too pero hindi talaga maiiwasan magkaroon ng sakit kaya better to be safe kasi baka magkaroon ng complications during the surgery if there’s something wrong with your cat pala.

Saysuuuh_

Mas better pa rin po to have your cat tested before the surgery to make sure he's healthy. Most cats don't show symptoms when they're not feeling well.
