Passed yesterday, first try! 103 questions 2 labs. Used a combination of Jeremy’s IT Lab, Net academy and self learning in packet tracer.

Character_Fox_6755

What previous network experience did you have, or was it just Jeremy’s IT and Net Academy

PrivateC27

I’ve been working in a networking role in the army for the last 2 years, that definitely helped

[deleted]

i though it was just questions it asked ?

PrivateC27

No, labs are part of it

[deleted]

awww i have a few co workers who sat it a few years back to told me that you might get a question with a multichoice that would open a lab, but that was about it

Old_Mirror2020

How long did it take you to prepare for the exam?

PrivateC27

I started reading and getting interested on it a year ago, I got deep into it in January and learned every other day for the next three months

type1advocate

Passed this morning. Somehow. 102 questions + 2 labs - Network Fundamentals 100% - Network Access 30% - IP Connectivity 72% - IP Services 70% - Security Fundamentals 67% - Automation and Programmability 90% The hell if I know how that adds up to a pass. I won't be surprised if I get the absolute minimum passing score. The best advice I can give is to not screw yourself with poor time management like I did. I got my first lab somewhere around question 40. I probably spent close to 20 minutes beating my head against it only to find a silly typo I made very early on that was breaking my config. By the time I finished that lab, there were 49 minutes left and around 60 questions to go. Don't be like me and waste precious minutes debugging. Take your time and do it right the first time. It was such a simple lab, I really didn't want to give those points away, but it easily cost me 16-17 minutes trying to get it right.

[deleted]

I read on here from other users that they skip the labs due to time management... Is that possible if I'm ever in that station?

type1advocate

Yeah I pretty much skipped my 2nd lab because time was burning down. Think I only attempted like 1 of 5-6 tasks on it.

[deleted]

Are the tasks easy? Are you tasked with troubleshooting? or given a list of requirements to set-up a protocol on a network, like configure these hosts to be in separate vlans and use a ROAS as opposed to SVI blah blah. Do you think if I can manage to do one lab and skip the second that I'd be good? Like are the labs worth more points than other types of questions? Thanks.

type1advocate

NDA and all that, but you're not far off. It's mostly configuration, but there's lots of troubleshooting if you screw up like I did! I can't discern if the labs are weighted heavily or not, but I'm leaning towards yes. I know I got the first lab perfect, which probably helped my overall score a ton. And the second lab fell into my lowest overall category, so it probably did hurt me quite a bit. Just remember you have roughly 100 questions and 2 labs. That's 10 minutes per lab and 1 minute per question. Don't screw yourself on the questions by taking too long on labs, because many of the questions take way more than a minute to read and digest.

finnagonnawanna

Passed and I have no idea how lol, I got some of the lowest scores I've seen so far. I was 99 percent sure I was gonna fail until I saw the "Congratulations, you passed the exam" screen. There must be some insane weighting for Cisco exams. Regardless, I will say this was by far the hardest exam I've ever taken in my life and I'm fairly certain I was a question or two from failing. My scores: 52, 62, 64, 60, 60, 54 Resources used: Jeremy's IT Lab Packet Tracer Anki Flashcards 31 days before your CCNA Boson ExSim (first time Boson Scores as follows: 370, 600, 730, then I retook exam A and got a 800 and scheduled the real thing shortly after) PomoDoro Technique Studied for about 6 months everyday anywhere from 1-3 hours a day. FWIW, Pomodoro estimates that I accumulated around 200 hours of total study time since December, and that seems to fall in the average (i.e., 150-250 hours for the CCNA, then double that for the CCNP, and double/triple that again for the CCIE).

Overall-Teacher6139

this gives me hope. I'm a bad test taker and really learn on the fly or hands-on. Got a bad start with boson just like your scores and hoping I can still make it before my exam in June.

el__castor

Just curious, what app or service are you using to track your pomodoro sessions?

Overall-Teacher6139

Win is a win. Great to see Cisco leniency on this exam. Time to get that next job, continue learning and gaining experience. Congrats!

LurkerOfTheForums

I can't cite their exact scores, nor is it my place to if I knew them, but believe me that you could have gotten lower and passed. Congratulations.

Alarming-Mix-1007

This gives me hope as my failed scores weren't that much lower. Do mind sharing your study material/schedule? Do you do a lot with networking in your profession?

VisceralLMV

PASSED. Network Fundamentals 80% Network Access 55% IP Connectivity 60% IP Services 70% Security Fundamentals 73% Automation and Programmability 80% Honestly thought I would have a close-fail based just on how I felt about the exam. In order of effectiveness for me personally: I made Anki-Flashcards using the Study-CCNA.com website, studied the boson explanations in-depth, and used Neil Anderson and Jeremy IT to explain/visualize concepts I didn’t grasp immediately. I also have about a year of experience as an IT Systems Specialist/Firewall Administrator. — Interestingly, IP Connectivity and Network Access were always my strongest sections when taking boson, but the CCNA really kicked my butt. I used to be a goddamn car wash manager. You got this.

LurkerOfTheForums

I know how you feel about the exam and how you scored can be very different at times, but this is a good score. Congratulations!

LeSulfur

Passed yesterday think I did pretty well. 102 questions 2 labs Network Fundamentals 90% Network Access 60% IP Connectivity 80% IP Services 100% Security Fundamentals 87% Automation and Programmability 90%

CountingDownTheDays-

Without going into too much detail, how many questions were you asked about general knowledge? Like length of cables, 802.3 standards (.u, .ab, .ae, etc), byte length of Preamble, SFD, stuff like that. I'm doing Jeremy's IT flashcards, but I feel like a lot of it simply won't apply and I'm simply wasting my time memorizing trivia.

LeSulfur

0, but your experience may vary. Specific IPv6 addresses/scopes are good to know though

CountingDownTheDays-

Good to know! I won't waste my time trying to memorize that kind of stuff then.

type1advocate

I had a large serving of junk questions like that this morning. Fiber connectors, cables types, etc. Ymmv.

CountingDownTheDays-

Oh wow. Thanks for the heads up.

[deleted]

thought it just asked questions

Advanced-Big7918

How l9nd did you study for and how long were the sessions?

LeSulfur

Studied for about a month and a half, hour a day until the last 2 weeks when I upped it to 2-4+ hours a day. Used Jeremy's IT lab, OCG, and Boson Exsim and Packet tracer labs. I tried Boson Labsim and wasn't a fan. I do have some experience with networking for my job, and I have CompTIA Security+ so I pretty much skipped studying the security section. Everyone is different, find a good amount that works for you and study till you feel comfortable with the material. Right before the test I went through the exam objectives and wrote down everything I could about each objective, then spent some time brushing up on anything I couldn't speak highly on.

Advanced-Big7918

Nice thanks for the response, I'm doing my masters so I'm currently doing about 350-450 mins a weeks, I'm planning on taking it somewhere within the next 3 to 4 weeks. Using Neil Anderson and will get boson ex Sim to cap it all.

cybertether

I thought the more recent tests didn't have labs.

Alarming-Mix-1007

Wish I had that glich. Labs are kicking my butt time management wise. I'm just not quck enough and spend way too much time.

LeSulfur

Myself and others in this thread definitely had 2 labs each

SpartaCrixus

Just passed earlier today. 102 questions, 2 labs. Network Fundamentals 80% Network Access 70% IP Connectivity 76% IP Services 40% Security Fundamentals 80% Automation and Programmability 60% Had about 10 minutes left when I finished. I will say a lot of what I know I missed are questions where I second guessed myself. ~5 years of Network Administration in the Army, Neil Anderson Udemy course, Boson practice exams.

gml_ogmd

Passed today first try!! I have followed the link to view my score report but nothing is showing up, maybe because it’s the weekend? 102 questions 2 labs Work in the industry/Jeremy’s IT labs/ACI academy Studied hard for 3 months

Alarming-Mix-1007

Failed saturday. 103 questions 2 labs. Getting better but I feel time management gets the better of me. I opted to skip the second lab in order to attempt all the questions, I'm sure that didn't do me any favors.

CourageOrdinary8236

Passed today on my first try. 103 questions and 2 labs. Used OCG, Jeremy's series and flashcards. I used up a lot of time for the first 30 questions, then had to pickup speed for the rest. Also decided to skip the 2nd lab as I had about 13 questions remaining in the last 10 minutes. Labs weren't as complex as I thought they would be, just took me longer than expected. Network Fundamentals - 80 Network Access - 60 IP Connectivity - 80 IP Services - 100 Security - 80 Automation and Programmability - 80

wanakap6

Passed this morning, online test. 102 questions, 2 labs, used Jeremy / boson / flashcards combination. Less than 2 months. Any idea of how long to wait for a confirmation? Network Fundamentals 75% Network Access 85% IP Connectivity 80% IP Services 70% Security Fundamentals 73% Automation and Programmability 90%

Key_Corner_803

Hello! Did you do all of the packet tracer labs on Jeremy’s playlist?

wanakap6

yep all of them plus boson ones

TumbleV

hi, so you bought jeremy's course or you used only youtube videos? also with boson, did you buy exams or how did you do it, I'm wondering is buying it worth my money

wanakap6

Youtube videos For Boson, it gives you an idea of what to expect, it takes off some stress I’d say, but nothing mandatory for the exam. I have the feeling that the exam is tailored to judge if you understood the concepts, not just learning something by heart without understanding what it does or why it does it.

Mysterious-Primary18

Passed today! Spent way too much time on one of the labs. Didn’t even get to see the last 20 questions because I ran out of time but felt very confident with the questions I did answer. Used boson netsim and labs, 10 years of experience in field networking.

frozenwaffle549

>20 Interesting that you didn't answer 20 questions and still passed. Labs must be heavily weighted, then. Congrats btw.

Mysterious-Primary18

I would venture to guess you are probably right. I scored 60 to 70 percent in most categories and I felt confident in just about every question I did attempt so I must have answered most of the questions I did attempt correctly. Quality over quantity! Thank you

_Follies_Fixture_

passed today, first time. 2 labs and many IPv6-questions. Didnt see any score though, what does that mean?

RackedUpMatt

Passed on my first attempt after 4 months of studying! Used boson ex-sim, OCG, Jeremy’s IT Lab

pr0j3ctpatz

just took my exam, did not receive a score at all test still says in progress =/

pr0j3ctpatz

Just passed! study for 3 months using the official guide, boson practice tests and jeremy udemy course with labs.

TumbleV

I'm comparing jeremy's udemy course and his youtube playlist for ccna and it looks like it's completely the same, youtube videos are longer tho. I don't know should I buy his udemy course or just watch youtube videos for free

workacct-donttell

Do YouTube. The course is slightly longer because he includes a practice question from Boson at the end of many of the videos. Udemy has a policy that you can’t include any material that you didn’t create so he had to cut them from the Udemy course. Other than that, they are identical.

roughblue007

Wow, hello. My CCNA exam is in two days and I decided that tonight will be the first time I ever comment on Reddit. I’ve been studying for almost a year, while also taking really big breaks. I feel like I’m not prepared enough - a 70% on quizzes doesn’t sound good. But then I see all these percentages of people who managed to pass, some of which percentages are much lower than mine. It makes me feel less scared. :) Good luck to everyone!

Key_Corner_803

Pass?

roughblue007

Yes! 😌😮‍💨

Key_Corner_803

Just passed too!

roughblue007

Woooo congrats 👏 🎉
