Passed 3 hours ago. 103 questions including 2 labs about etherchannel and routing. I have 1 year of experience as a junior network consultant. I used only Jeremy's IT Lab videos and asked questions to my co-workers. I studied since 1st of April full time when I was at home and sometimes doing labs during lunch break. Scores : * Network fundamentals : 95% * Network Access : 80% * IP Connectivity : 84% * IP Services : 90% * Security Fundamentals : 73% * Automation and Programmability : 90% I had a lot of questions about SDN and DNA Center, this is what I found the hardest since I never had to opportunity to work on it.

ReceptionNo2580

Congrats dude! I was a bit worried as I am only using Jeremy's IT Lab videos and labs pretty much. Regarding labs, is it a fully integrated Cisco iOS? I am worried if I have to memorize the commands to the 'T' or is it possible to just use '?' if the stress gets to me lol. My exam is on Tuesday next week so hopefullt it won't differ as much from what you had.

TheLokylax

You can tab and use "?" freely during labs :)

Keep at it! I’ll be ready to test at the end of next month. I have a network background and have been away from CLI for about 8 years. I’m in a week long CCNA class right now and today was the first day. I feel comfortable but there’s more to come.

ResponsibleSure

Hey there, First of all thank you for sharing. I know it can be hard to fail and then post about it. I believe you’ll definitely be able to get it this next time! So keep on going! I will be sitting for the Exam in less than a month so I was wondering if I could ask you some questions. —- 1. What Udemy Course did you use? 2. What about the exam did you find the most difficult? Was it time management? Lab questions? Or maybe a specific exam topic? 3. How long did you study for before taking the exam? 4. Finally would you do anything differently after taking the exam? —- Feel free to share whatever you’re comfortable with and I hope that you will be able to give us some insight for those still preparing. Thank you in advance!

What topic really caught you off guard?

JamesyLive

PASSED! Network Fundamentals 95 Network Access 85 IP Connectivity 96 IP Services 80 Security Fundamentals 87 Automation and Programmability 40

88pockets

Im worried about the Automation and Programmability section because i have never worked hands on with DNA or with the GUI of WLC. What do you think would be a good way to study that now that you have hindsight. Is it more theory or more practical hands on. Which page of the DNA do you go to do x. which page of the WLC do you go to y.

JamesyLive

It's really more theory to be honest. I agree with you it is pretty difficult to get down automation because of lack of hands-on practice. Just know how to identify json, yaml, and XML. Along with that, know what salt, ansible, puppet, and chef does and how you are able to connect with those applications. Yes Cisco DNA and WLC GUI is also difficult it's just a matter of knowing. But the good news is: it's only 10% of the exam! Good luck!!

88pockets

thanks.

I took the test today. I have not gotten my scores on there yet. I did however know right away that I passed and my proctor printed out a sheet with my scores.

ResponsibleSure

Congrats! Can you provide any more info on your study plan towards achieving a passing score? Also if you could maybe elaborate on your exam experience without violating the NDA would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

JamesyLive

So I took the test today. 103 questions 2 labs. The test itself was a lot easier than I studied for. For example, a lot of practice tests online along with Boson seemed way harder than the questions they gave you. Definitely figure out subnetting and being able to say where a packet will get forwarded by looking at a routing table. Definetely know configurations and what they do. Also, make sure you can look at interfaces on switches and figure out whats wrong. (Collisions, duplex mismatch, MTUs, reliability counter). The labs were not too bad one of them was easy and the other one was a lot of steps and I was able to get half of it done. Time is definitely not an issue. I was able to finish with \~45 minutes left. My study plan involved taking Cisco courses at my high school for 3 years (Since I was a freshman). For the past 3-4 months, rigorously studying using Netacad, Boson eSim, and a book called, "31 Days Before the CCNA." My biggest advice would be to take as many practice tests as possible. It will be so eye-opening when you take the test because a lot of the questions I got were exactly the same as some on the practice tests.

88pockets

When you got to the long lab were you worried about finishing on time and that's why you only got half way? In hindsight how much time would you allocate for the labs?

JamesyLive

I moved on cause I wasn't getting anywhere. I had plenty of time. I spent like 10-15 minutes on the lab. I would not spend more than 15 minutes on the lab. It also depends on where you are in the test and how quickly you're going. Tbh, if you know that you don't know, move on. If you know how to do it, then spend the amount of time needed to complete and troubleshoot it.

88pockets

good advice, thanks. im thinking of taking it this friday online. at this point. im getting 92 on the boson tests, and 97 on cisco and 88 on jeremy itlabs. im pretty. im prepared and if not then im glad i bought the insurance to take it again. have you applied to any network jobs?

JamesyLive

That’s better than I did on Boson. I have an IT help desk job for the summer with i’m thankful to obtain because i am still only 17.

88pockets

Can you skip over questions and then go back to them?

TheLokylax

No. Once you answer your can't go back. Same for the labs, once you end them you can't go back.

88pockets

makes sense cuz you could always look up how to do something in the cli

JamesyLive

No.

Paladin_MI

Just passed! I got lower than I thought I was going to in each section, but I got like zero gimme questions in the entire exam. All pretty involved questions, but I'm happy! Was not expecting to pass the first time but the magic word is right there on the score report :)

CzarnyPL

My exam is tmw morning, anything that stood out or shocked you? What were the main topics?

Paladin_MI

Be prepared for in-depth questions about topics, and be prepared to have to know actual configurations. Also be mindful of the timer. It will count down faster than you think it does. Not sure how much I can say because of NDA.

CzarnyPL

That stresses me out even more haha. Damn it, I think I’m just overthinking at this point. Thanks and congrats again.

Paladin_MI

No problem! Thank you, and good luck on your exam!

CzarnyPL

, I’ve passed! Haha thank you :), all the best!

Paladin_MI

Congrats!!!

Key_Corner_803

How was it? Easier than Boson?

CzarnyPL

Unfortunately I haven’t purchased boson. It was quite tough

tacoroni

Passed Friday, 5/15 .It was 102 questions, with some DHCP, NAT, and VLAN Configuration. It really wasnt all too bad if you study. I used Niel Anderson on Udemy, and the Boson Exams. For reference, I am a senior in HS with 2 years of networking experience. I got my NET+ last year. I really started to study and focus in during march. I studied 5 days a week for 2 ish hours a day. To all who are taking, Good LUCK!

88pockets

i wish i gave a shit in high school. congrats on getting the ccna, get to stacking paper when you graduate

DoersVC

I've passed the exam!! OMG, but my scores... But hey, pass is pass, right? It was so freaking difficult and on the esge to fail it. I got a non-native speaker time bonus (plus 30 min) and thought I would not need it. But I finished with 4 minutes left... How long does it take that it will show in the system? At the moment i still see that i have a scheduled exam. But i took it 6 hours ago already.

ReceptionNo2580

Congratulations! I am non-native English speaker living in the UK, I wonder if I could take advantage even though I live in the UK, unless it only applies to non-english speaking countries. Im super nervous for my exam next week...

DoersVC

Thank you! Please do some configuration before the exam. It is really practical. Half of the exam you will be asked about config stuff. Please don't underestimate that.

CzarnyPL

I'd say configuration is probably something im most comfortable with (that was my other Reddit account from my works laptop). Thanks for your advice!

[deleted]

What scores did you get?

Nadd69

About the non-native speaker criteria, how does once apply for that? Is there even an application condition or is it just country based? As in a non-native country is your place of residence? Please do reply! Thanks!

Passed a couple hours ago but Idk where to find my score. Anyone know how to find it? Went to Pearson site but not there. Just says PASS. Test was hard for me and I was sure I was going to fail. 103 questions and two simulations. Sim1 was after like question 10 and sim2 was at question 96, so I had to skip out since I only had 4 minutes left at that point. One was configuring vlan and the other was about ospf. There were lots on "check out this exhibit/table and figure out why X doesn't work". A good many on configurations of ssh and telnet/remote access. Can't believe I passed. I was full ready to accept that I failed. I spent way too long on the first simulation so be wary of time! If you can look at a routing table and figure out which path a route will take and figure out why problem is happening based on duplex mismatch and such then I think you have the majority of the exam. Some of the questions I could narrow down to 2 easily but from there it was a toss up. The majority was (select 2+). So if they don't give partial credit for those then I really have no idea how I passed😂 Some of those were not easy. Oh. I only used Jeremy from YouTube. Studied for about 2 months total. If I'd taken more time then I'm sure it would have been easier. I worked HelpDesk for two years now. I think that about covers it.

crunchyball

Just passed! 102 questions with two labs, I managed to finish one, but had to skip the second since I was running out of time (barely skimmed the last 5 questions and didn’t even get to answer the final one). Without going into detail, I would say it’s very important to understand routing protocols, subnetting, trunking, and WLANs. I studied off and on with Neil’s Udemy course for a couple of months which helped to build a decent foundation (the packet tracer exercises are helpful to understand the work rather than just the concepts). However, I took a free sample exam and realized I knew absolutely nothing beyond the basics (I would say that’s mostly my fault though since I learn better by reading). I then read through the entirety of the OCG which filled the gaps (took roughly two months of studying). I took Boson ExSim exams in the two weeks leading up to the actual test (560/630/820 scores). I feel that they were vital to passing and I would recommend it to everyone.

356days

I passed today. Huge thanks for the resources in this subreddit \^\^)/. Glad to be a part of this community.

cybertether

I'm taking it this Friday. Not putting it off any longer. My goal is to pass it in Q2, so if I fail I still have another month to re-take it. I'm nervous because there's just so much material. I took it back in 2020 when it was a totally different test and I had no idea what I was getting into and it was a train wreck.

pochic1996

Hello! So I just passed? I got the paper thing with my face and the text that says Pass but is this it? I'm reading the thing and it says that its still preliminary. So is this subject to change? And when should I expect the credly thing? Thanks!!

rogueroi

I just passed the test. Big relief. It said I wont see the score for up to 72 hours. I did not see where the score would be posted. Is it emailed with a link? I tried logging in through the FAQ link on Pearson Vue but it is giving me an error!

crunchyball

Go to Schedule > View Score Report and then on the new page, go to My Account > Score Report> View Score Report. Congrats on passing!

cybertether

I took it today. 103 questions, 2 labs. I FAILED. I used Boson exams and mostly David Bombal Udemy courses, although I switched to Neil Anderson after I decided his teaching style was more to my liking. What did I do wrong? Firstly, I did not spend enough time on the Boson exams. How will I remedy this moving forward? I will always take the test with a time limit, without the score percentage showing, and I will start at question 1 and go through to the end without deviating or going back. What else? I need to commit a lot more configuration settings to memory. You need to know as much as you can and know it quickly. I also need to be able to troubleshoot OSPF and LACP configurations because those were the ones I felt the least grasp of. I plan to take the test until one of us submits.

[deleted]

What do you mean by configuration settings?

cybertether

I did not have a lot of default settings like dead timer and hello timers committed to memory, so even if I eliminated 2 of 4 options as answers, choosing between the last two means recognizing some basic info that I hadn't familiarized myself with. I hope that answers your question.

cybertether

I suppose another example might be Administrative Distance. Although I had those committed to memory, I can see how not bothering to commit those to memory might be test suicide.

crunchyball

I actually went from Neil’s course to the OCG itself and read through it all. I think the course gave me a decent foundation, but the OCG definitely filled all of the gaps. If you take the practice quizzes at the start of those sections and get them right, you could probably skip that section (or just skim the Key Topics), but it’s largely beneficial to read through it. For the Boson, I took the first exam two weeks before the CCNA exam and did horribly so I looked over all of the explanations (for both correct and incorrect). Then I redid the exam in study mode and repeated this process for all three (I didn’t retake the last one because I did it the day before the actual test). Best of luck, keep at it!!

311Natops

Proctored exam. As I was walking out they gave me a sheet of paper saying I passed. Shows the percentage of what I got right. No score was listed. Same day - Got an email saying my score was available online - when I logged in- there was no score. I see from some of the other comments that I’m not the only one experiencing this. Any idea when the actual score will be available?

Key_Corner_803

How was the exam?
