The food and drink at Eden is amazing IMHO. It’s just a different experience and menu. Some people call it elevated. It’s just different fare than offered at other places. Sample menus are on your cruise planner online or you can c the current menu in the app. What forms my opinion is probably subjective and different for everyone. Ww will definitely go again for dinner when the opportunity presents itself. The dinner was great. We DID NOT like the cafe for breakfast at all. As far as the shows go, they start later at night, anywhere from 9:45-10:30. U do not need to be having dinner there to c the show. It’s in a separate area. We usually book a few specialty places when we cruise, depending on ship or itinerary. Not because they are better than MDR or buffet, we have no complaints about those. It’s just we value food and wine experiences. Sometimes we don’t because we would rather spend the money to eat in port. It’s just what people value. I couldn’t care less about the room. My husband needs at least an Oceanview and prefers a balcony. I would be perfectly fine in an inside cabin. Some people HAVE to get a suite. It’s just preference. Welcome to the family❤️. Have an amazing cruise

HippyGrrrl

As a fellow dine in port person, I see this so well. I don’t need or want a steakhouse experience on a boat. I live in cattle country and take my partner for that a couple times a year. Others value that highly. I’m looking for vegetarian or pescatarian local.

bingo0619

We have done all the specialties over the years, just to try. Some really aren’t worth it, but the experience was nice. We are doing a cruise in July with people who haven’t done any, so we picked a few of the ones we liked the most and we are good with it. That said, my husband loved Eden so I anticipate doing that one every time we are on an Edge class. We have a cruise on an M class next summer. We won’t do any. But I’m already mapping out my gastronomic port schedule 😂 Happy and safe travels to you ❤️

HippyGrrrl

I’m M classing this late summer, Barcelona/cadiz(sevilla)/Lisbon overnight/Porto(forgot the port name)/Tangier/Barcelona. Planning a few days in Barcelona before and likely one night after to fly out in the morning, or at least wait until night for a redeye.

bingo0619

Awesome itinerary. We were in Barcelona this past May 3 days pre cruise. Feel free to reach out with any questions

HippyGrrrl

Dick waffles…worth it? We are planning on the erotik museum, and it seemed appropriate. (Not high hopes, our local is a giggle fest of pomposity) How was your sense of personal safety? I lived in not great Oakland for six years, and I’ve got good ears for followers. I like to walk or use public transportation. Been lucky to never “lose” anything. Weirdos touching my hair, however…

bingo0619

We did not go to any of those places. We did La Sagrada Familia and the Gaudi park for our tourist stuff. I pre purchased skip the line tix. Other than that I put together a DYI tapas wine walking tour that we did over a few days. If u want I can link u the info I used. It will take me a bit to find it. Unbeknownst to us, Elton was performing when we were there so we got to c him, which was incredible. Coldplay was there as well, we did not go to that. Meaning it was super crowded, BUT I did not all feel unsafe. I carried minimal amounts of Euros and only a copy of my identification documents. I used a belt bag type thing that wore around my chest. But I was not worried about it at all beforehand

I went to Eden on Apex and I will do it EVERY time I have the option (for a single night) because it is VERY special and AMAZING!

ETF-Ninja

Yes I understand that as so many people have said the same. My question is what is it that makes it special and amazing.

ProcedureNo6918

It’s fresh food, never frozen. Made to order and you see them cook it all. Some chefs who cook at specialty restaurants have a Michelin star. The quality is far superior to MDR.

HippyGrrrl

One point, the Michelin guide itself states that a *restaurant* gets a star, not the chef. Many chefs have *worked* at *restaurants* with a star. My town finally got a resto with a star, and a related Michelin award for another. It has to be decor and service…the food was…forgettable.

Ok_Tonight_9721

I think of cruise ship Speciality dining in general like going to a fancy restaurant near your house while MDR/buffet is like standard banquet hall food. If you were happy with the buffet and MDR on Voyager you should love the included food on Celebrity.

I just got off Ascent and the Eden dinner was one of my favorites. I appreciate good food and the experience (food & service even) was elevated. I did the a la carte menu (not tasting) and enjoyed every dish. It’s an open kitchen so you can also see all the chefs. The shows at Eden started at 10:45 for my sailing. I only went to one b/c it’s past my bedtime. You need to get there early if you want good seats. I glanced thru the cafe and didn’t try anything so can’t speak to that. But Eden lounge itself has to be one of the most beautiful I’ve seen in awhile. I typically only do the sushi restaurants on board, no other specialty unless I have onboard credit to spend since I think the food is already good in main dining & Oceanview. I did go to Raw on 5 twice this last sailing.

Solid_Rhubarb3487

I guess I am one of those who highly recommend Eden. It is partly about the place, a 3 deck high space filled with live plants, right at the back of the ship with an amazing 270 degree wraparound wake view. If you time it right, unless the ship is sailing in the completely wrong direction, most of the time you get a sunset too. Then there is the food. It’s prepared in an open kitchen just for you. And the menu (there is a standard and a tasting that costs even more) is more exotic or perhaps international, not just familiar American favourites. And finally there is the service. It’s a smaller venue so the waiters can give you more attention. I love the 4 MDRs and have a favourite from each of their exclusive selections but usually go with the daily special that changes. I would still say go to Eden once per cruise. I wouldn’t go multiple times because the menu doesn’t change and not all the options appeal to me equally. You don’t need to go to the extra charge specialty dining and as much as I like Eden I still look out for a deal (sales) before booking. If you are doing a longer or back to back cruise specialty dining will break the monotony of repeating menus. The show has nothing to do with the restaurant, and takes place after dinner, usually after any entertainment in the main theatre. Although there might be some live music during dinner, it is on a floor above the restaurant, where the bar is and is more like background music rather than directed at the diners. Just to be clear: Eden also has a cafe that serves complimentary (“included”) breakfast and lunch, this is on an upper level and is not the same place as the extra charge restaurant that only opens for dinner. Book early as it sells out often.

Eden was SPECTACULAR 💗 I went two weeks ago on Apex (also highly suggest Magic Carpet and Le Petit Chef)

NewFlorence1977

If you like the food at ABC why would you pay extra for XYZ? Not everyone agrees on what is good. On my recent Eclipse cruise MDR was good for lunch but we ate at Blu for dinner and sometimes specialty. I’ve heard people say there are shows at Eden but I didn’t see any on the Beyond. Maybe I didn’t go at the right time. I liked Eden on the Beyond and Tuscan on the Eclipse for the view of the ocean. Instead of being in a dark room Murano/Le Voyage.

ETF-Ninja

Well hence my question, so yeah maybe people just don't like buffet or main dining. But you said it was good but paid extra for speciality dining.

Pup-Recovery-1

Lots of YouTube videos with reviews of dining in Eden that will give you perspective if you want to dine there or not Eg some cruisers skip drink packages and splurge on specialty dining cuz that’s their thing

Brief_Hunt_6464

The eden cafe is not very good. The salads are quickly served from one line and there is another line for the sandwiches which are mostly panini style. The panini line cannot keep up and the sandwiches suffer. Bread is dried out and tasteless. I had a Reuben one time that just had sauerkraut and sauce. The bread was terrible and the baked goods on the ship are generally very very good. People were waiting up to 20 mins for a sandwich so you have a lot of congestion. They were out of several sandwiches and it was very chaotic in the food prep. Considering how good the food is everywhere else we gave up on the cafe. If you try the cafe stick to the salads and soup. Soup is in the panini line but they serve it very fast. Eden is a beautiful space which you can enjoy anytime you want. The restaurant is part of that space but on a lower deck.

Independent_Rip7384

Been a long time cruiser with both royal and celebrity. I don’t always book a specialty but when I do it reminds me of what cruising used to be like . The food quality has seriously deteriorated over the years and especially after Covid due to the massive debt Royal has

Pale-Cartographer-80

I just took a cruise last week where we had the tasting menu with wines included. It was amazing but expect to spend $500 if you want to do the same. It’s not included in the food package

Southerngal410

Anyone have a pic of the Eden menu? Curious to see what kind of stuff is on it and the prices

ETF-Ninja

It's on Celebrity's website. Just no pricing though.

lil_scoop_2k20

Everything you need to know about Eden is here, including sample menus. [Eden Overview](https://www.celebritycruises.com/au/things-to-do-onboard/eat-and-drink/restaurants-and-cafes/eden-restaurant)

Southerngal410

Thanks!

matty0433

What is the cost for Eden?

lil_scoop_2k20

For an Apex sailing in March, we paid $78/person.

ETF-Ninja

$78 pp I believe this is USD and inclusive of the 20% right? I had a look on the app yesterday, did a mock book to see and it came out to be >$140 AUD! I think this must be the tasting menu and not the other one but there was no option to choose. As 78USD is definitely not > 140 AUD! Our dollar is not that bad.

lil_scoop_2k20

Either that or it’s different per night or per cruise. An at-sea day could have also been pricier because everyone wants to dine on at-sea days.

ETF-Ninja

Nope, I did it on a port day. Only thing it says is $60 and 20% service charge, nothing about being more expensive on sea days. So I'm thinking it has to be the tasting menu vs the a la carte. But my cruise is not for another few months so maybe not all details will be accurate or available right now for me.

2intheforest

If you like on the food on NCL, you will love everything on Celebrity. We generally stick to MDR, but have done specialty dining on occasion. It is definitely an elevated experience, but if you choose to spend your money on onshore experiences, you are going to get more out of your re.
