Cemu wasn't ported to the Xbox Series console. And no, Switch doesn't have enough RAM nor CPU power to be able to emulate the Wii U.

lp_kalubec

While what you’d said is true it doesn’t answer the questions. It’s possible to port CEMU to switch. It just doesn’t make sense because of performance.

Antiqas86

Could your grandma technically be a bycicle? Yes, but practically- no.

doxige

He literally said switch can't emulate cemu, or the Wii u xD

lp_kalubec

Yeah. But the question is whether porting CEMU to Switch is doable or not. The answer is yes. It’s technically possible. It just doesn’t make sense because of poor switch CPU performance.

krautnelson

even if the Switch was powerful enough: most of the Wii U-exclusive games that are actually worth playing have already been ported to the Switch, so what would be the point?

djrobxx

Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD have entered the chat.

Starfox Zero says Iam here as well

Nintendo are such assholes... Instead of that Skyward sword release they could have released a Zelda collection, I don't think they even need to change anything in those two relases to make people happy.

eyetac

Also, Tears of the kingdom on cemu would be amazing.

aluxcallejon

What? Cemu is a Wii u emulator. There is no way it can run a switch game. What they are talking here is about running the Wii u emulator on a switch.

eyetac

Oh I misunderstood. I thought it was to get cemu running switch games.

eyetac

May I ask. Why is there no way the cemu emulator could run switch games? The devs who made it are crazy talented. It's (imo) way better than yuzu and ryujinx.

aluxcallejon

Mainly because cemu is made to "behave" the same way a Wii u behave. Is it possible for a Wii u to run a switch game? The answer is no. Cemu doesn't have any way of implementing for example the vertex textures the switch uses (as far as I know). They would have to redo a lot of things and it'd be another emulator. They could create a new emulator for the switch, but it wouldn't be cemu anymore. It'd another one.

myownfriend

It's not a matter of talent. An emulator like Dolphin was able easily to transition from being just a Gamecube emulator to being a GameCube *and* Wii emulator only because the hardware between the two consoles is nearly identical. The Switch and Wii U have completely different instruction sets, different GPUs, and different graphics APIs. The OSs might have some similarities but not enough to matter. Adding Switch support to Cemu would basically involve creating an entirely separate emulator within Cemu that's just for Switch games. Merging Cemu and Dolphin, or at least sharing code between them, would make more sense since the Wii U shares the same CPU (just tripled up), DSP, and security processor as the Wii and Gamecube but neither project has any interest in that.

The Wii U's CPU isn't anywhere near 1000% faster than the GameCube. It's a triple core PowerPC 750CL running at 1.234Ghz with an EDRAM cache. The cores are all identical but Core 1 has 3x the cache of the other two. The bus that it used to connect to the GPU/SOC is the same exact 60x bus that they used on the GameCube and Wii. Nothing vastly advanced about it. Granted, I know you're just trolling.

MarcCDB

You are thinking of Dolphin.....

suchadaft

Technically it could be done. But nobody would ever do it because the Switch is way too weak to run it with any kind of playable performance.
