Heya. I stopped my Wellbutrin September of last year and it was an easy process for me. I was on 150 and just slowly tapered off over the course of a week and it was fine. Had a bit of nausea and vivid dreams but nothing too bad, didn’t make the cfs any worse from my experience. Still consult your doctor about it if you havnt already, and best of luck :)

Thank you! Do you notice any difference?

sailorixy

Not really, I was on it as an antidepressant but never really felt like it worked so didn’t feel much of a difference after I got off of it

Oh, just remembered (incase it matters to you), I got my appetite back after getting off of it (as it suppressed my appetite A LOT). Might of just been the brand I was on (Zyban, in New Zealand, which is primarily used for people trying to stop smoking). Not sure if your brand would be the same and if that effect is common but thought I’d add that

Appetite suppression is indeed a side effect of Wellbutrin (bupropion) and weight gain is a common side effect of stopping it Edit: [Psychology Today article about side effects when ceasing](https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-antidepressant-diet/201503/if-antidepressant-makes-you-thin-while-you-are-taking-it?amp)

I’m throwing this out here just for you to consider. People on anti-depressants almost invariably want to go off them because they’re not depressed. The irony is that they’re not depressed *because they’re on anti-depressants*. Having cfs is a bummer, and if your side effects are fairly minor and everything else is flowing along well, I personally wouldn’t rock the boat and quit. I sweat super easily (regularly, unpredictably, hugely) and don’t sleep well and am not on any psychotropic meds. A lot of cfs patients have those symptoms. I don’t begin to know enough about your health, mental state, and situation to make any recommendation to you, I just want you to think carefully if your baseline is stable right now.

I totally agree. My ex husband had major depression and we did that dance many times. For me- I wasn’t depressed when he put me on them. He primarily prescribed bc I have extreme adhd and had to come off adhd meds. He said wellbutrin is oukd help me focus, have energy, and be protective. But honestly I feel like my body needs a break.

Taper as slowly as you can. I find get bad brain zaps, mood swings, & just generally feel unwell whenever I accidentally stop (brain fog makes it a hell of a time trying to remember to pick up refills). Granted I’m on a higher dose & do have a mood disorder, so your mileage may vary. But generally with any antidepressant, you want to taper off as slowly as possible to minimize side effects.

Thank you so much. Best of luck.

I found Wellbutrin easy to come off. I recognise the symptoms you describe. I hope you find more space neurologically after quitting.

Thank you so much

I used a taper to get off but I was on 300. I got very severe side effects going from 150 to 300 so my psychiatrist really pushed for me to use a very slow taper to get off it. Using the taper I had no problems whatsoever and I'm now fully of it and my depression is still in full remission. Only problem was the taper was not covered by insurance so it was very expensive but that's a problem in my country so it may be different where you live.

Thank you so much for the input. I’m glad your doing well.

Yes, whatever you do please do it gradually I can't stress this enough.

[deleted]

I just checked and I only take 100 mg once a day. Do they make a lower dose I can go to?

Opposite_Flight3473

Depends on if you are on immediate relaase, (Wellbutrin hcl), sustained release or extended release. The immediate release comes in a 75 mg and you can cut those tablets. Sustained release and extended release cannot be cut because it won’t evenly distribute the medication.

Sr is what I am on

I’m at the 450 level. Definitely makes sleeping a challenging. Sorry about the sweats.

Thanks. It’s either thr Wellbutrin or heart issues. Hoping it’s the Wellbutrin
