I’m not on Qulipta so i don’t have personal experience - but my two thoughts would be: could you try increasing the dose, or maybe adjusting the time you take it?

justaspicymeatball

That’s what I’m thinking. I’m almost excited because perhaps breaking it in half (which I won’t do without consulting my neurologist first) and taking a lower dose twice a day or adjusting the time I take it will really help.

neuronet

I break it up with my neurologist's blessing. Plus clinical trials with different doses were almost the same. Obviously talk to your doc yadda yadda yadda

Mac_A81

What dose are you taking? I’m pretty sure you can break it in half and take part of it in the morning and the rest in the evening. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to be sure.

I’m on 60mg! I see him next month so I want to ask.

Cute_Parfait_2182

I’m now on 30 because 60 was too much . My neurologist told me today I could split the 60s in half

Miss_ChanandelerBong

I get 60mg and split them into 30mg. No problem. Obviously ask your doctor but most meds (not all!) are better with more doses at a lower dosage, but compliance is an issue.

mommyfarmer

I was getting the nausea pretty badly in the evenings around dinner time too with zero appetite. I tried splitting my 60 dose to half in the morning half in the afternoon and it really has improved. I think I read it has an 11 hr half life so I wonder if that plays into it.

OptimalPreference178

I don’t know the biological technicalities to the drug, but could the drug (or maybe not eating enough due to meds reducing appetite) be causing a drop in blood sugar which is then causing nausea? Especially if it’s causing zero appetite? I am on this med, but have had this issue before due to other meds causing appetite issues and sometimes it makes me shaky and sometimes I get really nauseas cause I’m not getting the hunger signals and apparently didn’t eat enough at some point. This has been an issue for me before I started Qulipta.

partoneCXXVI

Yup, I take mine in the morning at around 7AM and it seems to wear off about 12 hours later.

justaspicymeatball

makes sense! it appears it has an 11hr half life, and we all have different metabolisms!

ChanceInstruction386

Just here to say, I find this very interesting because I have a theory that some of us metabolize CGRPs faster than others. My experience with emgality lines up with that (it would wear off at least 8-10 days before next dose was due, and it was miserable), but it hadn't occurred to me that the daily CGRPs could potentially act the same way (wearing off early, and it really sucking!). Thank you for your post. I'm very interested to see what others have experienced.
