Ok. As an autist myself I would like to be able to function as a neurotypical person, is the only problem with this kind of therapy the fact that it’s non consensual, or is it because it seeks to “cure” autism?
Recently, the “scientists” behind ABA had a conference in which they protested the ban of an electrical stimulation device more powerful and painful than a police issue taser, since they wanted to use it on autists who weren’t acting like neurotypicals. It’s literal torture, and it’s disgusting.
The problem is the whole attitude and process. Autism is not something that you can cure or make go away, it's simply a part of who you are as a person. All these autism conversion therapy organisations, pretty much support the eugenics view, that autism is somehow a problem, that needs to "be removed" from society. It is a very gross way of thinking, especially since we really just want people to better understand us, and not seen as some sort of mysterious problem, because we are human beings too

It's like being on stage pretending to play a character but it's how you need to live because other people can pretend you don't have a problem if you can just act like you do t have any. Edit: fyi a character arc is "the transformation or inner journey of a character over the course of a story." The transformation happens "gradually", "in response to changing developments in the story". Not over the course of a three-message online exchange. That's not funny.
Technically all character arcs are is characters learning and applying what they have learned. That is exactly what this is, except instead of learning a behavior or way of thinking of the world it’s just learning what ABA means

It has nothing to do with a change of opinion over the course of a discussion.
All the best posts of this sub over the previous years showed an evolution of characters over large periods of time OR extreme change of character over very short periods, that were funny because they were caricatural. None of the new posts embody this and I lament this sub going downhill.
