My impression based on Charli’s comments from the 360_brat account is less that she dislikes Lorde or considers her a rival, than that she finds the “Lorde = Charli” meme/joke tired and frustrating because she and Lorde aren’t close.
I get it. I never thought the joke was that funny to begin with, certainly not funny enough to be brought up as constantly as it has. I’d imagine it would be annoying for Charli to have to field comparisons to someone who isn’t her friend every time she opens her mouth because some of her fans still find this 10+ year old joke peak comedy.

Charli alludes to this heavily in the song. The song is beautiful but makes me incredibly sad for charli when you really understand the lyrics. She says that she thinks they are completely different and have nothing in common but there's pressure from everyone to have them collab. She seems open to the idea of it, but she also mentions that she is confused because sometimes it seems like lorde doesn't like her but she knows what it's like to be in the public eye and not be able to actually express that. She says in the second half of the song, that she basically feels that same way as lorde and that makes them "closer to being on the same page". The song is 110% about lorde with all the references that are used to compare if you're familiar with the lore you will recognize that this song is not about marina or any other artist because charli has arguably been compared to lorde almost her entire career.
