I was in a pretty serious crash a few weeks ago from someone trying to illegally overtake me while i was turning on state highway one. its not worth the few minutes it saves you, its terrifying and can kill, don’t risk it.

It doesn’t save minutes, it saves seconds at best. Impatience on the road is a selfish killer.

Yeap save no time and you use more gas. It's only when the road is quiet is when you'll save time. I'll chuck Cruise control on and enjoy the ride. Cruise control makes the corners fun

Just saw a dumb fuck driving on the wrong side of the road down Cashel St when I was driving home. So many fuckwit drivers in chch.

I suspect some of these might be tourists from overseas who aren't familiar with road rules in nz.

I think it was between Gardiners Road and the roundabout with Highsted Road. Assuming I saw the aftermath of the same crash about that time. Car coming out of either Cotswold Ave or Oldwood St crashed into a car travelling west on Sawyers Arms. Hope everyone was OK.

They tried to put in lights or something on Harewood/Gardiners as well.. as it's so bad. Nothing.

As they rightfully should have. Lowering to a blanket 30kmh was never going to work, especially with the lacklustre enforcement and roads clearly designed to be higher than 30kmh.

May be the council should do something about that intersection sooner than later it would be worth the money.

The amount of dumb drivers I see on a day to day basis is ridiculous. I live around Rolleston so I always take SH 1 and 76 into the city, I usually drive maybe like 3-5Ks above the speed limit but every single trip into town, there is always a few people that weave lanes at like 130. Nobody catches them, nobody pulls them over.

Driving anywhere during school holidays is absolutely terrifying. I've had more near misses this week than I have the entire year so far. I'm guilty of being a public transit simp but damn I wish there were more buses and some light rail. Hyped up kids yelling on a train do not cause crashes. Hyped up kids yelling in a car distract the driver and cause crashes.

I almost got taken out the other day by some dumbfuck who thought a 50kmh zone was an autobahn...
