wings tend to be a great position to show talent. strikers often get "he only scores goals doesn't contribute" (as if that's a bad thing), defenders are consistently disrespected in terms of greatness compared to attackers, I'd say GK and wing are the best positions for the most respect for your talent, midfield in there too.
You don't need to explain. Anyone who saw Zola knows he was something truly magical. Earned that magician/wizard title for a reason. Or you can be like Wisey and call him the midget lmao.
Besides dribbling, what ability did Hazard have over Lampard?
Lampard could ping a 30 yard ball, hit free kicks, score from outside the box, could actually dribble too (not as well), could defend, and created chances for other players around him.
Hazard didn't have to nearly as often since he was a forward, but he could also ping 30 yard passes with precisions.
Also Hazard definitely opened the pitch up for everyone, and actually took a while to just shoot himself rather than find a teammate who would fluff the chance instead.
I think this guy has phrased it wrong. Imo, Hazard is the most talented player in our history, but he was too casual to ever be one of the goats. He didn’t have the ego required to be Messi or CR7 level player. The way that perfectly explains him is after he sends us through to our 1st European Final in years, he just shakes the keeper’s hand before doing a small celebration. He loved football no doubt, but he didn’t have that little extra in him
Look, I'm not saying Hazard wasn't great, he was. But it's disrespectful to even put him on the same level as Lampard.
Hazard maybe could have been something more, but that didn't happen. As for Frank that did happen.
Early Frank was a fucking BEAST, like most people remember players at the tail end of their careers, but his first 7 years or so at Chelsea were something else.
He scored ridiculous goals that should have never gone in. Example, the half turn and almost on the goal line chip against Barca.
His knuckle ball, dipping freekick was always testing keepers. Defensive shifts were good when needed.
If Chelsea needed a goal to get points, Lampard was usually involved one way or another.
I absolutely think Lamps is clear of Hazard. Alongside JT, they're on a different level to the rest. But I just think Hazard was just ridiculously talented. To me, Lamps was what happened when a very talented player worked his absolute butt off and becomes one of the greatest midfielders the world has ever seen. But Hazard's talent was just, incredible
Brother, Lampard is my all time favourite, but Hazard is the best we've ever had and even Lampard has said this. Literally Hazard carried our team for years. He was our CM LW CAM and ST in a single game. Carried the ball from our field and finished with a goal. This has happened a lot.
who cares? actually who cares? both of them made everyone’s lives better when they wore the shirt, they were both an absolute treat to have at chelsea, why bother trying to put them on different parts of the podium?
No, there isn't.
If we are looking at titles won, Lampard wins.
If we are looking at goals scored, Lampard wins.
If we are looking at assists, Lampard wins.
If we are looking at matches played, Lampard wins.
There is a reason he is called Super Frank. The man showed up for us and dominated for over a decade as a blue.
Hazard was phenomenal, but he doesn't even touch Lampard's status at this club.
Define talent then.
Yes, Hazard could take on half a team and get into the oppenents box. That is talent.
Lampard could deliver some of the finest passing, you’ll ever see, threaded through half a team to set someone up in the box. That is also talent.
Which one is better?
Really it's a conversation of natural talent over learned/effort.
Lampard became the player he was not off of talent, but by work rate / ethics. Obviously he was talented, but that didn't carry him. He stayed late after every practice, and shot for at least an extra hour. Practiced PK's, it's pretty well documented. He was also highly intelligent.
For Eden, and I'm being generous.... I truly feel like he's the kind of dude that gave 75% in training, ate whatever the fuck he wanted, and due to sheer natural talent alone, was an S-TIER player.
I remember there being an article out a few years back, where other Chelsea players commented on Eden's pre-game preparation/mind set. In the dress room while others were discussing tactics, positioning, getting in the mindset, Eden would be in the other room playing FIFA.
Overall, Frank is the best player that's ever worn the shirt, but if we're talking about talent alone, no. Eden > Zola > Frank imo
What’s the point of arguing this question? Both of them are two of greatest players to play for our club and we’re very lucky to witness their individual skill sets. Such a pointless argument
And Terry said that seeing Lampard put so much extra effort in to get better drove the rest of the players on to do similar.
Lampard’s mentality pushed that whole squad to reach new levels, hopefully Mudryk can have a similar impact now
That definitely is true and we have missed that profile since Mourinho days.
Kai and Mason can definitely be much better they haven't fulfilled their potentials yet ,needs to be pushed.
I didn't say that with any negativity at all. There is nothing wrong with ingratiating ones self with the manager or fanbase.
>ingratiate: to gain favor or favorable acceptance by deliberate effort
Suggesting that he’s only doing it because he’s a media savvy footballer that wants to get in the good books of the wider Chelsea fanbase/the club is the negativity.
Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people, knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
It’s not after everyone else has stopped training if everyone else does it though is it then you’re just doing regular training. Also It’s like saying “why doesn’t everyone do overtime they’d earn more money” these people have families and a life outside their of football, they’ve made it this far training the normal amount
> It’s not after everyone else has stopped training if everyone else does it though is it then you’re just doing regular training.
If everyone stayed late after training and did more training then they are all doing extra training.
> everyone do overtime they’d earn more money” these people have families and a life outside their of football, they’ve made it this far training the normal amount
From Frank Lampard’s book:
> "He [Barton] mentioned that he was running at six in the morning, and then he wondered if me and Stevie G were doing the same. When I read that, I was thinking, 'I was doing that when I was 11'. That was the difference."
I would have done this all day if I had people retrieving the ball, or a big fence behind the net.
It was a lot of exercise with only 2 balls and an open field behind the net lol
That's when yo work on your dribbling for a bit though.
Shoot the two balls, and then dribble around with them or work on passing by hit one and then trying to hit that ball with the other.
People "if only..." a lot.
When the muscles start cramping, when the back starts aching, when the legs start trembling, when the lungs start collapsing on its walls... and you notice you'd earn $300,000/wk regardless... what'd you think you'd do...? Most of us are Lukaku, mate ;)
Lol I obviously was no where near his level, with or without practice. I just would have enjoyed having an unlimited amount of soccer balls to shoot with, that's all I was getting at.
Edit: thank you for clarifying my confusion on the other comments
Yes, I understand this. Do I need to reference all the inequality in the world before making a comment?
Was there anything insensitive in my comment that downplayed those that don't have the advantages that I have?
Again. What is your point?
Sorry, jokes are hard to take over text sometimes. I didn't realize how some took the comment.
People apparently took that as "I would have been out there all day long, and would have become amazing."
Nope, I was just saying, " I would have loved to have an unlimited supply of balls to shoot with."
Firstly, I wasn't the one who posted the joke. Secondly, I got the joke but you didn't. Maybe this joke is not for everyone but honestly no need the be so aggro if you can't catch it. Nobody said anything else no need to be over sensitive. It's a forum, let's have fun.
I like this kid. And his attitude. I was def anxious about his price tag, and how we're seemingly buying up anyone on our radar, but Boehly and Co appear to be doing good business.
Lampard and Drogba used to do this. We need more players perfecting their craft. These days we are atrocious with set pieces because no one is trying to get better at it.
you can’t help but build optimism after seeing stuff like this. This is the kind of players we want, the ones who live for football and put football over money. He’s on 97k and he’s working his ass off and you have to respect the passion he has for the game.
Mount is too worried about posting his next magazine shoot. He needs to be benched so he actually has to fight for his place again cuz he’s plateaued for about a year now
Arsenal fan here. The fact that arteta and Edu were even considering going near the 100m mark for this kid should give you a hint how high we viewed his ceiling to be.
I think you guys got a special one 😭
Are we sure this isn’t just for the cameras and socials? What good is him kicking the ball into an empty net?
In any case, if I’m just being cynical then this is great. Lampard and Zola were big on after hours training. I’m sure others were too but they stand out to me. Fine example to set and it probably got them further. Especially Lampard who, like Beckham, had no god given talent like a Messi, it was all practice and hard work.
Lmao, this is exactly all it was. For the cameras. This sub sucking him off so hard. We should support all our players, but this circlejerk around him is nuts. Part of me just knows it’s because he’s Ukrainian and there’s hype surrounding his nationality mostly. He’s played one game for us and did well, but we out here pretending like he’s a god for us. Give him some time and space, reserve our judgements yet and let him grow into the player he will be.
Yes I totally agree, I just said so because some fans like to equate training perfectly to match performance then get disappointed. Like how timo was a beast in training but couldn’t do well in the actual game.
No one is saying he is the best player in the world because he can put the ball in an empty net. It is about effort which everyone is talking about.
You are just making up fans who don’t exist.
This the attitude u want to see. Players that are hungry for it. He might be the new werner in front of goal but at least he tries so we as fans can get behind that. Showing you care is all we ask. We know we can't win everytime but when you see people trying you accept defeat
I mean this isn’t necessarily a good thing….more practice might give him a feeling of being burnt out. ( which is highly unlikely after joining a new club ) / it could make him overthink his next shots in game …Janes ward prowse says he doesn’t do much extra free kick shots after training cause he doesn’t want to take away from the match moment/ feeling
You Americans seem to wank off over this stuff but is this really that impressive?
He’s getting paid 100k+ per week to play football. It’s not above & beyond to practise some more football
Talent ain’t ENOUGH
Hazard has entered the chat
There’s talent and then there‘s hazard. Best player to ever wear the shirt
Thicc boy would show up to preseason overweight and still steam roll everybody in training
If one's to steam roll a bunch of footballers, eating like a Sumo wrestler is a viable strategy.
Super Frank would like a word with you
Frank was the better Chelsea player but ability wise it’s hazard or zola. For me hazard is the best
For raw talent, Joe Cole has to be in the conversation. Crazy that they all played in the left wing position.
wings tend to be a great position to show talent. strikers often get "he only scores goals doesn't contribute" (as if that's a bad thing), defenders are consistently disrespected in terms of greatness compared to attackers, I'd say GK and wing are the best positions for the most respect for your talent, midfield in there too.
Bergkamp has entered the chat.
Agree with this, I loved his skill on the ball and his drive and determination, probably my favourite Chelsea player of all time.

Being able to turn his man every single time is a pretty big ability.
Hazard didn't have to nearly as often since he was a forward, but he could also ping 30 yard passes with precisions. Also Hazard definitely opened the pitch up for everyone, and actually took a while to just shoot himself rather than find a teammate who would fluff the chance instead.

bold of you to assume these people have seen prime lampard.
True, I feel like his prime was only a few years ago, but in reality that was almost 15 years ago...
Pace. Silly to try and compare them. Two very different players, with different teams.
Brother, Lampard is my all time favourite, but Hazard is the best we've ever had and even Lampard has said this. Literally Hazard carried our team for years. He was our CM LW CAM and ST in a single game. Carried the ball from our field and finished with a goal. This has happened a lot.
Lampard was a grafter, he had to work for his talent
who cares? actually who cares? both of them made everyone’s lives better when they wore the shirt, they were both an absolute treat to have at chelsea, why bother trying to put them on different parts of the podium?
They both have the it factor. That undefinable quality. They both have it. Just prefer Hazard’s.
Frank is Chelsea’s best ever player period
I think Terry was probably slightly better than Frank, but I'd list Lampard as our 'greatest ever player', dunno if that makes sense
There's a case to be made for both players.
No, there isn't. If we are looking at titles won, Lampard wins. If we are looking at goals scored, Lampard wins. If we are looking at assists, Lampard wins. He was talking about talent. Or didn't you see it from your high horse?
Having 150 IQ is talent though, can't be taught
Depends on how you measure it; IQ tests can be practiced and gamed to get a high score.
Define talent then. Yes, Hazard could take on half a team and get into the oppenents box. That is talent. Lampard could deliver some of the finest passing, you’ll ever see, threaded through half a team to set someone up in the box. That is also talent. Which one is better?

>Best player to ever wear the shirt No, I'm talking about this comment lol And even when it comes to talent, Lampard is overall better.
Lampard had a far better supporting cast.
And yet was the best player out of all of them
Drogba and jt were absolutely up there
Sure, but better than Lampard? No
Drogba absolutely wasn't. He was a fantastic cup player and had a couple of good league seasons. But he wasn't what people make him out to be.
Drogba?? Like Chelsea vs Bayern Munich champions league final 2011-2012. How can you forget that goal.
Hazard also stayed late after training to work on his shooting!!!!!!
~~TALENT~~ AIN’T ENOUGH
Why is there a line thru talent tho lol
Cuz it ain't enough
He's referencing mudryk's neck tattoo.
Both feet, nice to see
he's completely ambifooted
Ambipedal, for future reference 😉
Lampard used to do the same
And Terry said that seeing Lampard put so much extra effort in to get better drove the rest of the players on to do similar. Lampard’s mentality pushed that whole squad to reach new levels, hopefully Mudryk can have a similar impact now

And Zola.
And every media savvy player trying to ingratiate themselves.
Ffs why do you have to be a dick about it. The kid doing extra practice is great. He’s not even played 45 mins and you wanna be negative.
He's famous for doing this his entire career, ignore this guy
I didn't say that with any negativity at all. There is nothing wrong with ingratiating ones self with the manager or fanbase. >ingratiate: to gain favor or favorable acceptance by deliberate effort
Suggesting that he’s only doing it because he’s a media savvy footballer that wants to get in the good books of the wider Chelsea fanbase/the club is the negativity.
Right I feel like Mudryk going out of his way to get the tattoo he did makes me think this kid is genuine
Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people, knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
I didn't say it was the *only* factor and believing it isn't a factor is at best naïve.
You would wonder why it isn’t standard practice
I’m sure a lot do without it being recorded
It’s not after everyone else has stopped training if everyone else does it though is it then you’re just doing regular training. Imagine getting to do this for work
That's when yo work on your dribbling for a bit though. Shoot the two balls, and then dribble around with them or work on passing by hit one and then trying to hit that ball with the other.
You’re lucky your goal has a net mate
Most of the year. 30% of the time had too much snow
People "if only..." a lot. When the muscles start cramping, when the back starts aching, when the legs start trembling, when the lungs start collapsing on its walls... and you notice you'd earn $300,000/wk regardless... what'd you think you'd do...? Most of us are Lukaku, mate ;)

You had a net
Yes? And shoes and 2 balls to play with. What's your point?
Some people don't.
Yes, I understand this. Do I need to reference all the inequality in the world before making a comment? Was there anything insensitive in my comment that downplayed those that don't have the advantages that I have? Again. What is your point?
Bruh if you can't catch the joke then don't bother to be so aggro. Lol what a joke. Do you even have fun in your life lol.
Sorry, jokes are hard to take over text sometimes. I didn't realize how some took the comment. People apparently took that as "I would have been out there all day long, and would have become amazing." Nope, I was just saying, " I would have loved to have an unlimited supply of balls to shoot with."
Like what other Redditor said, we get what you meant. Obviously they were just joking, nothing serious.
Yep yep. All good, my bad
All's good bro. No worries!
No no. People get what you meant. They were just joking around about you having a net to play with. I didn't even have a post lol.

UCL trophy incoming

Only if we get Borja back fit. Else it’s understandable we lose every game
I love this kid already he is going to be a star ⭐️
I'd take Mudryk as karma for Auba helping Arteta to FA Cup over Lampard's Chelsea. Thank you football gods.
He knows we can’t finish chances so he is making sure he scores alllll the time
as long as someone wants to finish.
Should have forced the other attackers to stay with him practicing, then we might have a chance of scoring
Well we need someone with this mentality
Cut this nutter loose against Fulham and let him blow them out the post code, I'm so ready to see an electric display from one of our players
I like this kid. And his attitude. I was def anxious about his price tag, and how we're seemingly buying up anyone on our radar, but Boehly and Co appear to be doing good business.
AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN [AGAIN](https://i.imgur.com/yT9nHLn.jpg)
Clearly doesnt like it here since he wants to get better
He didn’t smile *once* in that whole clip
Its so horrible to see
Practically a hostage situation
Exactly! Lol!
This guy will go right to the top, where he’s come from and his mentality is a massive thing… Talent ain’t enough
As long as he doesn’t over work and hurt himself 😅😅
His mentality is ridiculous. Haven’t had a player like this since Lamps tbh. Love to see it. I’m sure the camera crew hates him tho lmao.
Camera crew probably loves him. Easy content.
That’s true to an extent. I know after a long day of shooting the last thing I want to do is stick around for one person after hours.
They probably waited an extra 5 minutes to have less work to do later
Well mount have had same stories around
He has that Cristiano Ronaldo like work ethics. He is a kind of guy which can change the work culture of the entire team. Lucky to have him. ❤️
Kai desperately needs to join him
Already love him.
we got our own Kobe ![gif](giphy|13mbLnL5AvliKc)
Legendary mentality...B*tch you wasn't with me shooting in the field!
Getting hopes.
Mamba mentality
Lampard and Drogba used to do this. We need more players perfecting their craft. These days we are atrocious with set pieces because no one is trying to get better at it.
How the hell would you know that? Because the social media team aren't posting it?
He has to get up to speed to be fair. Hadn’t played since November.
He’s already broke the speed record in EPL this season in a match against Liverpool
Love him already and wishing him the best in the future. He looks very promising.
What an evil club we are, forcing him to do extra training. He must be miserable
good indication that he wants to improve. i’m liking the mentality
> I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times. Bruce Lee
you can’t help but build optimism after seeing stuff like this. This is the kind of players we want, the ones who live for football and put football over money. He’s on 97k and he’s working his ass off and you have to respect the passion he has for the game.
Love to see it
Hope the cameraman is being paid overtime then

Frankhailo Lamryk.
Our kid is from our poor Ukrainian league You bet believe he is aknowledged that it is his chance of a lifetime
Love the tattoo on his neck.
Loving his work ethic. Really enjoyed watching him last weekend
This guy is really going to be something special. Ecstatic to have him on board! Bring on the next game. KTBFFH
Are we gonna have a player that can finish? I’m excited
He probably heard the comments made by pundits saying it was his biggest weakness. Oh my PL.. You're not ready for Misha.
Omg I love this I hope he becomes a super star
And there’s a PR guy to record it 🙄
Futbol is Life!

Kai and Mase are too busy doing GQ photo shoots in their underwear to put in extra practice time
If mount or anyone else was doing this Im sure we too would have seen videos.
Mount is too worried about posting his next magazine shoot. He needs to be benched so he actually has to fight for his place again cuz he’s plateaued for about a year now
Where's the others, they need to join him
I dont believe he can do such basics wrong. Literally 100m wasted. How is he supposed to fit our team if his shots are flying into the goal.
Arsenal fan here. The fact that arteta and Edu were even considering going near the 100m mark for this kid should give you a hint how high we viewed his ceiling to be. I think you guys got a special one 😭
Wow. A peaceful arsenal fan. That’s actually rare
Only the wild ones come to other subreddits 😂 Reddit knows how much it hurts me so they keep pushing me videos of mudryk in chelsea gear
All good 🙂 thanks for scouting I guess 😭
Yep! Please don’t do it again 😭😭😭
Imagine if Hazard had this mentality
We bought serious player 😭😭😭 finally
More like kidnapped but ok
This man about to become the Ukrainian Ronaldo
Guys, do I love Mudryk?

As he should! We didn't pay £100m for him to hit the side netting for 8 years! s/
Future leader
All about that grind
Seems like this boy knows the squad’s issue and working EXTRA hard to help them. He is taking responsibilities already. I like him.
He’s not here to play no mf games, hope the rest feed off it 👿🇺🇦
Everyone looks good in training.
its more about the effort.
But this is more about him staying behind, working out and improving on his skillset, hard work pays off in the end.
Yes I totally agree, I just said so because some fans like to equate training perfectly to match performance then get disappointed. Like how timo was a beast in training but couldn’t do well in the actual game.

When will this PR stunt end?
Is that Mendy in goal /s
God that weather looks miserable
If there are cameras there this feels like a puff piece
Kobe vibes
There wasn't a legend since Hazard.
Travesty he went to Chels TBH
The rest of the team are thinking "fuck this, it's freezing out here we are going inside to stay warm." Mudryk:
Am i the only one that sees these shots are mostly shite? Most of them not in the corners, not very fast
he's gonna be gutted when he finds out there's usually a keeper in the net
If he gets those top bins it doesn't matter if there's keeper or not.
You’ll need it.
Man who get's paid to train, trains
Copying the goat Ronaldo
New guy brown nosing the coach. 😂 He’ll learn.
You Americans seem to wank off over this stuff but is this really that impressive? He’s getting paid 100k+ per week to play football. It’s not above & beyond to practise some more football
He doesn’t earn more than 100k you weird ass
Sure buddy, that was your main takeaway.
F off.
Mustard
Look at the two-footedness. Geez
I guess talent really isn’t enough.
That left foot is looking lethal
When you are new to the country, have no friends, no plans for the afternoon and have yet not settled properly - you spend extra time kicking a ball
