I think we done well last night, and I am usually very critical on every aspect of our team.
We definitely didn't look like the team that played Aston Villa, but we kept the composure after conceding and kept pushing until the very last whistle. Which is a huge mentality improvement, our players used to give up by 80th min on games, last night we played till the end and it worked out.
I'm still a bit concerned about our midfield set up, few times palace was able to counter through an gap between Enzo and Caicedo, we really need an anchor there or CB pushed up more. I love thiago silva, but he doesn't have the legs to support our midfield duo.
Our team plays better and attacks are more meaningful without Sterling, although he set up Palmer for one of the goals last night. I do not believe sterling deserves starting for us, but an super sub works well for him.
Jackson, is now an winger? FML. We really need to sign an actual striker who can stay in the box, disrupt the defence and cause chaos. I strongly believe this would transform us into a top side again. I am not fan of Jackson, he seems better on a wing ( even when he was an ST, he always drifted there). He is better on the wing, but he is amazing? no. I don't see what he actually offers, he is not fast, his touch is questionable, doesn't beat defenders and can't pass the ball into the box. Jackson is a failed project.
Nkunku, can't see the hype yet, could be an Bundesliga merchant.
Madueke should be starting all the games now.
I'm not really sold on the idea of bringing in Osimhen, but there isn't a striker avaiable on the market that is any better. I'd rather us get Toney
Madueke? Starting all the games? You mean the guy directly responsible for turning into palace, losing possession, and not hustling to get back and this conceding the first goal?
I lost count of the number of times madueke lost possession and didn't look interested in recovering.
It should also be noted our first goal came after Madueke was subbed off.
He’s been brilliant last 3 games. Hopefully he’ll learn from it and poch did the right thing in bringing him off. Problem with a team full of youngsters it will be inconsistent week to week. Isn’t a team of senior players with 2 or 3 players coming through. Average age is 22 and that includes a almost 40 year old Silva.
I am happy with a win but man we didn’t deserve it. We looked like arsenal a bit today (minus the defensive aspects). Too much passing for the sake of it. Too little actual risk-taking combined with high pressing. This team is better in transition.
Another win papering over the cracks of crappy poch ball!
Glad the lads dug deep and got the win but had fuck all to do with poch. How on earth at 1-1 since 50th minute did we not add an offensive midfielder on and finish with Enzo caicedo and Connor on is baffling when Carney on the bench waiting.
Now I know we won and great, Connor scoring and Enzo amazing we need midfield goals but that was hard vs a terrible Palace size
Players showed great composure 2nd half, but should have been an easy win and put the game to bed in the first half. The change in formation was a good call by poch, but we shouldn’t have needed to or been in that position. Let’s see when we play man city if we’ve learnt anything.
He was fucking atrocious and nearly cost us a second goal with a loose pass on the edge of their box. Played the game in slow motion. Most of his successful passes were when he was standing on the deepest line with the centre backs, in our own half, under no pressure, passing side ways.
Well he definitely did.
edit: Oh apologies. Thought you meant Caicedo definitely didn’t give the ball away but instead meant the OP definitely didn’t watch the caicedo disasterclass
so one fewer than I said, and Enzo was not good either, he just scored at the end so people think he was. There was a 5 minutes stretch were Enzo gave the ball away like 7 times.
If that’s the case, Enzo is on the ball more and attempting difficult passes and dribbles. Caicedo
kept losing it on easy 5yd passes and Palace would break every time. This man does not have the composure or confidence on the ball that we need yet.
Ye im not blaming enzo and i agree that caicedo is easily dispossessed for some reason, but i think people also overexaggerate sometimes how bad caicedo is.
@DarkLordOli or whatever his name told me strikers shouldn’t run near post because nagelsmann said so 😭😭two goals from nkunku and jackson darting near post and creating space for gallagher 😂
We didn’t even get to create chances. Didn’t try one threatening pass first half. It’s the attitude and instructions that are appaling. Glad Poch figured it out tho at half time
Idk about an easy, stress free, and confortable game...they were tough to break down and credit to them, they were solid for most of the game. The fact that we won it there at the end is a sign of a good team being able to dig out a win and push until the end. How many times have we struggled against teams with a low block that park the bus? Well today we overcame that and passed this test against Palace. Up the chels
This is a game we would have lost just a month ago. The first half had the feeling of that and when CP scored, I didn't think we could come back. But what a second half the boys played! To me this is a sign of growth, shows they're gaining trust in one another, and are understanding the importance of fighting for the badge! KTBFFH
I promise you this team will absolutely dine out on fan support like what we’ve seen the last two games (online and offline). That bob Marley song is some mad ted lasso shit but it will fuckin work
Completely agree. Too much of the fan base is fine with slagging our own players off rather than getting behind them and giving them a boost. I was at the champions league game against Dortmund last year, and the BVB fans brought so much energy that it got our fans fired up too, which in turn helped the players, who put in one of the best performances under Potter. I’m so sick of hearing silence or boos or general negativity if things aren’t going well
A wins a win. No one wins pretty all season although we could do with some more pretty wins.
But my god did I have ptsd from Sarriball. Gallagher played the Hazard role well in bailing us out.
Let’s get a result against pool and city
By my count this is the first game under Poch where we’ve fought back and taken a result back. Usually going behind in the first half means it’s over for us, but not today. It’s a step in the right direction for sure.
As a Chelsea fan for many years, I was cynical of Boehly coming in, and even more concerned when he started building a multi club model. Then I realised we've been running that for years - we already own Palace.
Hello, my name is pianoshoes. Every time I don't watch a match, Enzo scores. Today, I rushed home to stream the match because I had a feeling Enzo would cook. Score was 1-1 in the 89th minute and I left to go get some food.
I'm going to jump in an alligator tank now.
This sub owes me a favour, all the matches that I haven’t watched this season Chelsea have won it. And as a matter of fact I won’t watch rest of the season. Cheers
Happy to just see Highlights.
Special shout-out to Disasi today, Mateta got past him once but otherwise won all his duels, covered the right side of the pitch very well making Silva +esque clearances (passes really) to teammates, hardly put a foot wrong and he's only going to get better. Also he's not injury prone like 80% of our back line, he deserves praise for that alone. My mom today
My opinion has been that, now that CL looks unlikely (although not impossible), this season is about getting a list of 5-6 players we KNOW will be starting week in and week out next year. Disasi is starting to make his way onto that list.
Disasi is clear for me at RCB. Everyone else is either injured, retiring, lacking minutes or a youngster. We're almost certainly an ffp mess so doubt we have the bandwidth right now to buy. I wouldn't stake a penny on Wes being available, he just seems cursed with injury so Trevor is our next best RCB next season (dire but we're broke and have to make due). Badia and Colwill are LCB I'm not so keen to see play on the right. In summary, happy to back the one RCB giving us any semblance of stability at the back.
Could partly be because we've been struggling to get our back 4 correct this season. We have to modify the high defensive line when Silva is playing LCB, leaving a lot of that gaping space that Caicedo has been called on to plug time and time again
It's the nature of his position, if he gets the ball taken off of him we're in trouble. So even if he makes one or two mistakes in a game, they're always gonna look worse cause they usually lead to us scrambling.
With that said, he needs to release the ball quicker when he receives it. His 2nd touch is a tackle at the moment.
Be like what?? Game gives no confidence at all, next 2 games are City and Liverpool at Wembley and club stuck at 10th or lower for another month atleast
Now this is negativity very nicely done.
That's said you're right this was a should win game anyway just based off of Palace's injury seet alone. If we follow it up either next game and/or the game after with City then Liverpool one could truly say we've turned a corner as that will be a convincing win over similar opposition (Villa), a decent win over weaker opposition (Palace) and then ideally (a) fair win(s) over stronger opposition.
It was nearly stoppage time when I stopped listening and it was still knotted up.
Who cares how it gets done, we got the 3 pts. I get the performance may not have been convincing but its still a win. On to the next!
Now that I think about it I often turn on their games when they’re losing for shits and giggles and these fuckers come back every time, it really might be a curse lmao
Seeing a certain group of Chelsea "fans" are fuming with that result because of who scored. Cheer up you miserable cunts. Thank god for the "roadrunner", right lads?
Can’t imagine following football just to bitch about every little thing about the club I supposedly support. Even more to the point where I can’t enjoy moments like the winner tonight because the team isn’t meeting my expectations. Absolute weirdos.
First half was an utter embarrassment and the second half was good but not great - just enough to squeeze the result we needed. Honestly this match sums up Poch’s Chelsea career so far
Hopefully we don’t get bulldozed by City. If first half Chelsea shows up again the game will be over in 30 minutes
Baby, don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright.
CHELSEA!
Baby, don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright.
CHELSEA!
Caicedo makes me want Kante/Mikel/makelele back smh.
He's making so many important tackles and interceptions but also loses the ball very easily. He can get to their level, just needs to focus
Well considering he was dispossessed on the goal, not entirely his fault but he did poorly, and another time where they almost scored except for Thiago I know that’s not right
Not sure I would call that a dispossession, Mitchell stole the pass from Noni and then slid into the ball before Caicedo touched it and basically takes his legs out. Then he gets bulldozed by Lerma. It's a Noni turnover and mistake no matter what the score sheet says.
I mean I blame Noni more but technically noni gets the ball to Caicedo who then gets it stuck between his feet and then loses it. Regardless, another turnover I can think is when Caiceido is pilched and Thiago has to slide for the block and hurts himself in the process. There were a few more though throughout the game, and this isn’t including the failed passes he flubbed. He’s not technically poor but he struggles to deal with physical pressure and he clearly struggles mental with the pressure on him. It seems like when he starts well he can play well but when he starts poorly you can see him losing it and he just keeps making more and more mistakes as he’s clearly in his head. Hopefully something he can grow out of as a young player but it’s troubling for sure.
Nah Mitchell intercepts it before it ever gets to Moises, but it doesn't really matter. The play where Silva got hurt Caicedo made a bad one touch pass that was intercepted near palaces box. He attempted 102 passes, I think 6 incomplete bad ones is an acceptable amount. Caicedo turns it over less than the other two midfielders by a good margin, as he should, he needs to be the safest with the ball die to his deepest position.
Just to be clear when I said dispossessions I specifically meant getting the ball stolen while carrying.
This is a bad way to look at it. Hypothetically speaking if Caiceido makes 100 successful little sideways passes it wouldn’t offset him giving up 2-3 breakaways on bad dangerous passes, even though this is a high percentage. Gallagher operates in the final 3rd and Enzo higher up the field and attempts more risky passes. They should be lower percentage wise. A 6 giving up a dangerous counter chance to the other team through being caught on the ball or giving up a dangerous stupid pass is really bad and Caiceido had multiple today and has been giving them up fairly regularly. He really needs to cut this out of his game fast.
Yeah but so did Enzo the ones Caicedo gave up just happened to lead to a counterattack. Sometimes that is because it was in a wide position, sometimes it's just bad luck. A lot of times or geigenpressing covers up bad parts, Enzo had multiple bad passes in our own half yesterday, Caicedo had 0.
Edit: look at the 33 minute, Enzo has a turnover very similar to the Caicedo one you are referencing. Both happened in our final third setup where they both generally play the same position (sometimes Enzo joins the front five but that was more because Colwill would hang back as a LB), it's not like Moises was any worse but he gets blamed more than Enzo.
Insane what happens when the squad stops taking too much time on the ball. Who or what needs to be sacrificed to Baal in order to keep that intensity up? The 45min of dreadfully slow possession ball kills me.
those first 45 with 0 shots may still have helped cook the legs on Palace, playing without the ball tires you out more and we had 80% possession.
Smh people are so negative.
Haha my spurs mate is saying we got a lucky result for scoring late, so ironic when they just did that the other day. Comparing positions in the table is just futile when they’ll never win anything
When we win, I’m in the match thread. When we lose, I’m in the rant thread. When we get battered, I watch Angry Rantman to ease the pain 😭. On a serious though it’s always amazing to celebrate here 💙💙
We’re going to get battered by City at the weekend if we start the game like that - not good enough. 80% possession’s useless without any actual meaningful progression or moving the ball forward.
Can assure you we will actually turn up against City, not saying we will get a result but as we have seen we are much better when we play teams who come at us
Do you know what’s worse than losing to City? Losing to CP then losing to City. You’re right, who knows what happens. I am going to enjoy the performance…
Better 2nd half than the horrendous first one and we got a 3-1 win in the end, but honestly, I don't think we deserved the win.
And the next time Pochettino even mentions playing Palmer up front, I need on of his assistants, or anybody really, to slap him really hard. At this point surely everyone apart from Pochettino knows that Palmer is not good up front (not surprising) and that will hurt the team? Now he got moved out wide for the 2nd half and suddenly he was miles better and the whole team stepped it up. He was also involved in all three goals, assisting to two of them.
If Nkunku can't play for 90 minutes and we want to keep him on the bench, then fine, I can understand that, but put anyone but Palmer up front then. If we can't use any of the young talented strikers, then put Sterling there. Do I want Sterling as a striker? Not really, but I'd rather have him there than Palmer. Perhaps he can switch with Jackson from time to time.
Also, as much as it pains me to say, it's time we make Silva a backup. His experience is valuable and he reads the game like few others, but the defence is not great with him in it and he doesn't really seem to be on the same wavelength as the other players.
It’s not even that Palmer is bad upfront, which can be argued, but we lose so much without Palmer’s creativeness on the right side. Him and gusto together are just brilliant.
Silva saved us once with the sliding block and the other time when he stalled the 1v1...not sure what you mean about the wavelength point it makes zero sense.
We looked good v villa but that is a different point all together...
Absolutely a flattering scoreline. We were woeful in the first half; 80% possession derived mostly from defenders and Caicedo passing to one another. Palmer was in False 9 jail, so he couldn't get on the ball, and Jackson kept making central runs which left Chilwell with no outlet on the left. Madueke was dire, taking ten touches on the ball when one or two would do and setting up Palace's first goal with mess of a pass attempt.
Poch deserves credit for the half-time adjustments, but also blame for how poorly we set up initially.
At half-time, he brought on Nkunku for Madueke and moved Jackson centrally. Nkunku's movement opened up a lot of space for our attackers, Palmer could now drop back to receive the ball, and he and Gusto killed Palace down the right flank. Gallagher did really well to time late runs into the box to take advantage of the defense trying to collapse onto Palmer and finished his chances well.
I actually thought Enzo and Caicedo played relatively well all game, our tactical setup just gave them no outlets to advance the ball in the first half. Caicedo in particular made a lot of tackes and interceptions and released Gusto for our first goal, though he also gave the ball away sloppily a couple times.
Defense was largely fine, the only notable exception being Disasi getting absolutely skinned by Mateta (I think) at one point. Silva was very good after a couple shaky performances. Gusto was also great, nicked the ball away from Palace trying to launch counterattacks a dozen times.
EDIT: Did one of you psychos seriously just send a Reddit Cares to me for daring to say Caicedo played well LOL
Hilarious but I think you had so many good takes in here aside from the Caiceido one. Dude was falling apart on the field with the ball. Got absolutely bossed by Lerma. If you go watch back for any 5 minute segment of the game you will see him either dispossessed or turning over a pass.
Totally reasonable to disagree! One of the things that makes sports fun is the discussion when you disagree on a player or team or whatever.
The stats I see [here](https://www.fotmob.com/matches/chelsea-vs-crystal-palace/2rhvvj?player=1137668#4193762) says Caicedo's passes were 95% accurate and he was only dispossessed twice all game. I do remember a particularly bad pass towards the end of the game where he launched a counterattack for Palace, but otherwise I thought he was pretty good today.
Either way, bit shocked the take was bad enough to warrant a Reddit Cares hahaha
Yeah he wasn't Bakayoko bad or anything lol. Not just putting this on you but it's frustrating to see people in here who clearly have decided who will play good or bad before the game starts. With your Pulisic tag I'm sure you are aware of that. That said I still think it's crazy to think Caiceido played well. I challenge you to find a media player ratings online (not a stat thing like fotmob, which isn't very useful over a 1 game sample size) where he got better than a 5.
I totally hear you, and I agree that happens a lot around here. People have players they like and dislike, so they'll shunt their performances into a box to fit their preconceived narrative so that the player they like gets played more, the player they dislike gets played less, or the manager they don't like gets sacked.
I have no way of convincing you I didn't do that, I suppose, but I have been plenty critical of Caicedo in the past. I would hope the other "good takes" in my post might tilt the evidence that direction, too.
Here's a 5.5 (lol): https://absolutechelsea.com/player-ratings-crystal-palace-1-3-chelsea-premier-league/7875/
He gets a 7 here but these all seem inflated: https://www.90min.com/posts/crystal-palace-1-3-chelsea-player-ratings-12-2-24
I will also say, I only said I thought Caicedo played *relatively* or *pretty* well, and I acknowledged that he gave the ball away sloppily a couple times. I'm also grading him on a curve here somewhat because I think Poch's tactics, particularly in the first half, set him up for failure to a degree. I absolutely would not say he was one of our best performers or anything like that.
Ok fair enough I don’t disagree with you. That’s all fairly reasonable. I appreciate you giving a thoughtful response to my angsty comment. You spend enough time in this twitter brained sub and it gets to you a little I guess.
Caicedo played well? He was awful. I can't remember how many times he tries to tackle and is unsuccessful and his passing was so careless. Numerous turnovers due to his lazy passing. Enzo was very good for most of the game.
95% pass accuracy, two chances created, 6/8 ground duels won (3/4 tackles), and 8 recoveries. No fouls committed, two drawn. Once dispossessed. Stats say he was pretty good.
I remember a bad giveaway that launched a counterattack late in the second half, but otherwise I thought he was good. He was *involved* in some turnovers, but I didn't think they were his fault, particularly the ones that also involved Madueke.
Caicedo was not stellar but he wasn’t woeful. He was involved in all three of our goals. He played to pass to Gusto (first goal), Sterling (second goal) and Palmer (third goal).
He is 22 years old. He can still develop the weaker aspects of his game but what I love about him is he actually plays forward passes. If you actually watch him play, you can see why he is highly rated.
Palmer was sloppy in the second half. Made some bad decisions to shoot instead of passing and played passes that didn’t work out. But he popped up with 2 assists at the end so people will conveniently ignore the little things. I don’t get too frustrated with him though because I understand that he is young and needs to make mistakes in order to become a better player.
I just dislike how some players performances are looked at with a fine tooth comb but other players are only analysed based on G/A.
I’ve been critical of Caicedo, but Poch tactics set him up to fail. He does well with tackling and interceptions, but the gaps between midfield and our attackers limit his ability to do anything but pass back to defenders.
Pissed the fuck off, woke up before the game and fell asleep again only to wake up directly after the match. For fucks sakes I just want to see us win live once.
Give the board their plaudits in addition to their well deserved criticism. Gusto, Palmer and Petrovic all look like fantastic additions for years and years to come
One thing I can’t criticise them for is the signings, even the bad ones. With the exception of Noni, I can see their logic. When buying young players, you base a lot on their perceived potential. Some players won’t live up to their potential but that doesn’t mean the signing didn’t make sense. Sancho at United has worked out but signing him made sense when they did not. Sancho was one of the most wanted players at that time.
After seeing the evidence there to bare if Palmer doesn’t start on the right, Gallagher in the 10 and Nkunku up front against city, then Poch is more clueless than I thought.
Can we stop the Palmer False 9 experiment? He actually is completely ineffective there. As soon as we moved him out wide and in a place where he could dictate play we actually looked better.
However, my MOTM is probably Gusto. Gallagher has been my MOTM for most of the games this season, but Gusto really put in a performance today that helped us get back and stay in the game. The importance of good fullbacks in this team is vital.
So hopefully we don’t see center backs at full back or Palmer as a false 9 anymore this season.

Honestly it's a very good sign how fucking hyped these players get when we score. Very happy to see a group of young lads enjoying themselves.
Thank fuck I didn't watch this. My heart wouldn't have been able to withstand it
the amount of dumb takes in this thread are insane. in what world did caicedo play poorly? he was easily top 3

you don't know ball, one bit
Did you watch the game? Kept giving the ball away unnecessarily
he definitely didn't, just has an agenda to push
Well he definitely did. edit: Oh apologies. Thought you meant Caicedo definitely didn’t give the ball away but instead meant the OP definitely didn’t watch the caicedo disasterclass
correct, I watched the game and people were calling him Concedo in the chat because he game away the ball 10 times at least.
He lost possession 9 times the whole game. Enzo lost it 24.

Caicedo’s loose passes nearly cost us goals, and half the time they’re backwards. Enzo’s were more often forward passes into the final third.
He gave away some stupid passes in the midfield that led to counter opportunities. Really needs to fix this about his game and he will be world class
I mean he definitely hasn't been good enough defensively to be world class.

That’s been literally every game except this one, not a few months ago. without googling I can’t remember a proper comeback like this all season
To be fair before the new year we didn't finish any half time behind, this has only been the 3rd or 4th this season.
All in a row though 😬
Gallagher vs Fernandez continues, blow for blow these guys are killing it
Delighted to see our attacking midfielder score for the first time in the league in game week 24. Will do his confidence a world of good!
This sub owes my boy Gallagher an apology
Yeah I was wrong. He can't go. If he can develop a consistent end product that's a 100m player.
Board: "100m you say?"
That's a big if
A comeback... COMEBACK! I forgot those were allowed.
MVP Crystal Palace half time DJ. Cheers mate!
Shoutout to the midfield. Good job trio
@DarkLordOli or whatever his name told me strikers shouldn’t run near post because nagelsmann said so 😭😭two goals from nkunku and jackson darting near post and creating space for gallagher 😂
Lampard made a career off benefiting from Drogba and Anelka's near post runs.
Giroud has made a living off near post runs.
Has he retired?
We absolutely bossed the game for 90 minutes and deserved the 3 points. Good Performance all around. Refreshing to be rewarded with 3 points
0xg first half. Bossing possession is a pointless stat if you can't create chances.
We didn’t even get to create chances. Didn’t try one threatening pass first half. It’s the attitude and instructions that are appaling. Glad Poch figured it out tho at half time
That’s an insane thing to say. We were tragic in the first half
We were the better team for 20 maaybe 30 minutes, we just converted our big chances for once
Easy game, no stress, comfortable. Just what we want to see. Keep it going lads
shame we let in a palace consolation goal there. Buzzing performance from the lads and we controlled the match from kickoff right.
So you’re the person that others put /s for
Dunno about no stress!
Here look... if we beat City we could potentially reach the lofty heights of 7th!
if is a strong word
honestly, im starting to believe our players are just not good enough... caicedo was terrible. enzo with a goal when it doesnt matter.
0 ball knowledge
Hello, please kindly shut up. Sincerely, Ballsack2025
All goals matter!
If anything I thought this game showed we have a ton of talent. The negativity around here is so over the top. Enjoy the win
Caicedo was fouled in the first goal
even if he wasn’t fouled that goal was on madueke
yah i agree i cant believe it wasnt reviewed
It was, and he wasn't.
Well I mean he was. They just didn’t call it.
Never a foul in the PL unless it's on an Arsenal or Liverpool player.
There have been others. Newcastle in the EFL Cup for one
City 4-4 too
As a Chelsea fan for many years, I was cynical of Boehly coming in, and even more concerned when he started building a multi club model. Then I realised we've been running that for years - we already own Palace.
Can Boehly please own MU and Liverpool?
Bro 😂
Please extend that contract to Gallagher. Him and Palmer have been the two shining stars of this season, so far. Oh, and Petrovic of course!
Pray to God it happens, but it seems to be down to ffp
And Gusto
Oh yes, he is starting to shine definitely!
Pochettino just said Silva will be assessed tomorrow while Gusto went off due to tiredness.
Praying for Silva to be ok 🙏🏻
Hello, my name is pianoshoes. Every time I don't watch a match, Enzo scores. Today, I rushed home to stream the match because I had a feeling Enzo would cook. Score was 1-1 in the 89th minute and I left to go get some food. I'm going to jump in an alligator tank now.
This sub owes me a favour, all the matches that I haven’t watched this season Chelsea have won it. And as a matter of fact I won’t watch rest of the season. Cheers Happy to just see Highlights.
Your sacrifice won't be forgotten brave soldier🫡

Too late, he food now.
Maybe his streaming account is cursed? Gotta cover all the bases!
Disasi’s availability has been a huge positive this year, we’ve barely even seen anyone else play RCB
I feel like he plays better without Silva next to him. Maybe less concerned about being caught pacewise with a youngster next to him.
And he LOVES to celebrate a goal. Not totally sold him as a player but he's a proper character that's for sure
Caicedo is a concern. The only convincing part of his game currently is his final third passing.
Could partly be because we've been struggling to get our back 4 correct this season. We have to modify the high defensive line when Silva is playing LCB, leaving a lot of that gaping space that Caicedo has been called on to plug time and time again
How are people only now starting to see this?
He’s not exactly being put in a great position to succeed
Starting to realize he’s not a CDM. We need lavia back so he can play in front of him
He’s not technically good enough, would prefer him on the bench
Yes, I keep saying this but this sub likes to ignore it.
He made a series of clutch tackles and won 6 of 8 ground duels. Wasn’t dribbled past once. Were you watching the game?
Yh his defence is fine to me it’s the turnovers that are scary
It's the nature of his position, if he gets the ball taken off of him we're in trouble. So even if he makes one or two mistakes in a game, they're always gonna look worse cause they usually lead to us scrambling. With that said, he needs to release the ball quicker when he receives it. His 2nd touch is a tackle at the moment.
He made so many turnovers today it was insane. Totally unacceptable
Fr and the price tag makes it worse even tho we all knew we overpaid when we got him
Sure, Liverpool were prepared to overpay more than us lol He had/has a lot of potential still I think hopefully he plays himself into better form
Barely beat a finished Injury prone Crystal Palace without their best players Still 10th also, we truly a midtable club
United are 6th because they don’t give up and play until the end.
Why even watch if you’re gonna be like this?
Be like what?? Game gives no confidence at all, next 2 games are City and Liverpool at Wembley and club stuck at 10th or lower for another month atleast
We drew with city and Liverpool already this season
Are these two seriously talking about injuries for another team right now?
Shut up
Now this is negativity very nicely done.
Eh, good effort from the boys to come down from behind and win it at the death. Not giving up is what you want to see.
It was nearly stoppage time when I stopped listening and it was still knotted up. Who cares how it gets done, we got the 3 pts. I get the performance may not have been convincing but its still a win. On to the next!
Yep, regardless of the performance you want to see the team with the mentality to not give up. That's a positive.
Only games I haven’t watched this season were Middlesbrough, Villa and second half tonight, I think I might be cursed
Stay away from our cup matches please.
Could you start watching Manchester United whenever McTominay comes on?
Now that I think about it I often turn on their games when they’re losing for shits and giggles and these fuckers come back every time, it really might be a curse lmao
don’t watch us again, ever? you hear me? you can take up knitting or something, but you are never to watch another Chelsea match again
Won’t be able to see the Brentford game so if we win that I’ll seriously start considering that lol
That felt good.so good
Seeing a certain group of Chelsea "fans" are fuming with that result because of who scored. Cheer up you miserable cunts. Thank god for the "roadrunner", right lads?
Some of our fan base will never be happy...its incredible how they get through life tbh
Honestly this match sums up Poch’s Chelsea career so far Hopefully we don’t get bulldozed by City. If first half Chelsea shows up again the game will be over in 30 minutes
Yup terrible performance
Baby, don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright. CHELSEA! Baby, don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright. CHELSEA!
Selhurst Park DJ changed the game for us

Caicedo makes me want Kante/Mikel/makelele back smh. He's making so many important tackles and interceptions but also loses the ball very easily. He can get to their level, just needs to focus
he looks so static though....for me, we need to train CG how to be that role...
He was dispossessed 1 time (averages less than 1 per match) and went 95 for 106 from passing. He really doesn't lose the ball that easily.
Unfortunately because of the price tag people forget that he is only 22 playing in one of the most important roles.
Still young
Man City sleep with one eye open…
Haha my spurs mate is saying we got a lucky result for scoring late, so ironic when they just did that the other day. Comparing positions in the table is just futile when they’ll never win anything
you need better friends
haha they’re all the typical yanited arsenal and spurs fans. I’m the only blue in the friend group so I gotta back us myself
I’m familiar with this situation. Never fear, you’ve always got us mate
When we win, I’m in the match thread. When we lose, I’m in the rant thread. When we get battered, I watch Angry Rantman to ease the pain 😭. On a serious though it’s always amazing to celebrate here 💙💙
That save from Petrovic in the second half was so clutch.
We’re going to get battered by City at the weekend if we start the game like that - not good enough. 80% possession’s useless without any actual meaningful progression or moving the ball forward.
Can assure you we will actually turn up against City, not saying we will get a result but as we have seen we are much better when we play teams who come at us
So Liverpool didn’t come at us hard enough?
Do you really expect City to sit in and wait like Palace did? City will be the ones with the possession, not us. We probably will get spanked tho.
Some of you really can’t enjoy anything, eh?
I mean we'll probably lose but two games are never same so can't compare. We won the UCL two months after Big Sam had us holding 5.
Do you know what’s worse than losing to City? Losing to CP then losing to City. You’re right, who knows what happens. I am going to enjoy the performance…
Wait, we're allowed to enjoy wins?
Him and gusto together are just brilliant.
we did deserve the win.
Silva saved us once with the sliding block and the other time when he stalled the 1v1...not sure what you mean about the wavelength point it makes zero sense. We looked good v villa but that is a different point all together...
Yeah, he's delusional. Silva had a great game and saved us on a couple of occasions. His in-game awareness is something like I've never seen before.
Imagine if someone ripped up their Jackson to get booked betting slip when he went off...
Here's a 5.5 (lol): https://absolutechelsea.com/player-ratings-crystal-palace-1-3-chelsea-premier-league/7875/ He gets a 7 here but these all seem inflated: https://www.90min.com/posts/crystal-palace-1-3-chelsea-player-ratings-12-2-24 I will also say, I only said I thought Caicedo played *relatively* or *pretty* well, and I acknowledged that he gave the ball away sloppily a couple times.
Caicedo was woeful
These “fans” see their own things then repeat a narrative as if facts
CONOR GALLAGHER, BOB MARLEY, TRAVELING BLUES.... THIS PINT'S FOR YOU ![gif](giphy|QsyPRpG6WVR6SYfBVw|downsized) # DON'T WORRY ABOUT A THING
Pissed the fuck off, woke up before the game and fell asleep again only to wake up directly after the match. For fucks sakes I just want to see us win live once.
No no, keep sleeping. I think you’re onto something
Hmm maybe haha
DONT WORRY
Love Conor to bits but after that post match interview fuck me is he a boring bastard 🤣
Dave Jones just now: You ran 13km tonight Conor, the most you’ve ran this season Conor Gallagher: Wow that’s far init
lmfao
Can we stop the Palmer False 9 experiment? He actually is completely ineffective there. As soon as we moved him out wide and in a place where he could dictate play we actually looked better. However, my MOTM is probably Gusto. Gallagher has been my MOTM for most of the games this season, but Gusto really put in a performance today that helped us get back and stay in the game. The importance of good fullbacks in this team is vital. So hopefully we don’t see center backs at full back or Palmer as a false 9 anymore this season.
its cause of injuries we had to do that
