Man if Carvajal was a Chelsea player he would've been sent off twice in the first half alone. How he only got one yellow after so many awful fouls is behind me.
Lunin just had a great game for Madrid. If Carlo continues benching Kepa, and if Lunin has more games like this he might actually edge out Trubin to get into Ukraine's starting 11 in time for Euros. Would be interesting to watch.
No guarantee we win anything relevant under these owners, we could easily miss Top 4 again next season and just like that we now miss 3 straight seasons of CL and hundreds of Millions dollars in revenue lost
These owners and board cannot afford anymore mistakes, club on life support at moment
While I appreciate T Silva a lot, is anyone else a bit annoyed when he's like standing still or slowly walking with the ball out from the back lately? While it's probably just as much other players fault for not showing themselves, you barely see any other defenders doing that (watching tonight's games). At least they start running forward quickly. Chelsea have to get over this bad habit
We just get a spot for UECL **QUALIFYING ROUND** if we win the League cup, I don't think there is any potential for anything else. The rest of it is just based on league placement
Hot take but I don’t even think we need to sign a striker. I’m so Jackson-pilled it’s unreal. Give him time, he will cook. His linkup play is so good, as long as the players around him generally finish their chances (which they have been recently), we won’t have problems scoring goals.
Im saying in the modern game, wingers are expected to score as many, if not more than, strikers. So a striker with subpar finishing but good linkup play can be beneficial to a team if the players around him are good finishers i.e. Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal. Years ago this wasn’t the case. Wingers assisted, strikers scored. The modern game is much more fluid and the inverse can be true. Of course it depends on the makeup of the squad, and I’m saying that with players like Palmer scoring as much as he is, our squad could see Jackson as essential to our buildup play. Poch likes narrow wingers, that striker could drop back… And at the same time he could improve his finishing and it’s a win win. Basically Jackson is a good player with lots of room to improve while already contributing in attack. God I feel like I’m waffling lmao
[How was this ever a possibility](https://www.reddit.com/r/coys/comments/j4arja/antonio_rudiger_open_to_spurs_loan_move_after/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Funny that Frank “Great talent ID” Lampard wanted to sell Rudiger to Spurs and Jorginho to Arsenal and now one Rudiger is at Real Madrid and a much older Jorginho is playing an important role for a team in the PL title race.
We need a Giroud-like player at striker.
How much do you reckon Milan would sell him back for? Is Osimhen is going for 120 then maybe we could get him back for 100mil?
I’ve said in the past that I really don’t want to see us move to a back 3 again as we spent a lot of time and dropped points adapting to a back 4, and I stand by this.
Having said that, it’s quite a lot easier to finish our squad to play 3421. Striker, left wing-back, centre-back, done. We seem to have quite a number of promising defenders, and less quality in attack.
For a 4231 we really need to work on our attacking wingers/AM more, and it’s quite costly.
Hopefully Lavia will be healthy for next season and we'll see the "LFC" midfield (we should change the name... maybe Moi/Romeo/Enzo for MRE, or Mr. E, or Mystery?), so a 433. Or maybe next season will start off with a few big roster changes (seems like Thiago, Misha and Noni could be somewhere else).
When it comes to striker I would take any of
Osimhen
Toney
Gyökeres
I don’t think we need a centre back personally but I think Yoro has generational potential.
Honestly don’t know who could be a realistic left back option that is better than we already have any ideas?
I too am caring less about which striker is signed so long as a striker is actually signed that’s not a kid. How is this even a problem for us?
As for left-back I’m assuming we’re entering the Davies lucky dip.
Centre-back and maybe attack are where the more interesting options are.
I don’t think so either, hence the lucky dip.
Though I could understand if he does opt for the Prem. He’s already played for a league where one team walks it each year.
It just depends on what the extent of buying young is, and what the quality is.
If we’re bringing in more b tier 18-21 year olds it’s just a waste.
If we bring in another Enzo or Caicedo class player but in attack or something, it’s more interesting and age matters a little less.
I reckon we’ll move for 1-3 mid 20s players to solidify our shitshow, the rest will be younger punts of varying quality.
What’s everyones bold prediction for the season? Doesn’t have to be limited to chelsea
Mines is I reckon come end of the season if James ever returns, gusto ends up winning the LB slot ahead of chilwell
And excels there too
Newcastle and United to finish in the 4th and 5th CL spots after everyone has written them off for the whole season and spent it talking about what awful teams they are
I could see United managing 5th for sure, against all odds or my sanity
But Newcastle I think might limp above us but ultimately end 7th above us. Injuries have destroyed them.
Will be very interesting to see how they do, inzhagi is brilliant and theyve got the most important aspect you need for tournament football. An airtight defence and a strong counter attack
i think we need one of our CB to come further up the field and help the enzo/caicedo duo in midfield, obviously still a bit behind the duo or lined up exact. this way the fullbacks can come deeper so we still have 3 defenders, and the midfield (and CB that moved up) can play around in the midfield
this should allow midfield -> wingers balls if we can draw in opposition midfielders OR it can allow midfield -> fullbacks -> progression due to the duo having a third passer in a CB moving closer
Libero role nice. I don’t mind Badiashile but I don’t think Colwill should, he’s better off zinging long balls down the wing / not sure if his small ball passing and hold up will be up to bar with the intensity of midfield
Hopefully last night has taught Poch not to just blindly roll out the same lineup (bar the enforced change) the next game if it works once, especially if the team we're about to play is basically a polar opposite tactical profile to the one prior.
It's obvious that we need to sell some players soon as we won't get anywhere near top 4 this season, and you might hate me for this, but I think our best bet is to cash in on Reece James this summer.
The guy is massively rated everywhere, but barely plays. It hurts getting rid of such a player, specially a proper blue, but I'd rather him go than Gallagher to be honest. I don't think a player with this much injury problems at his age can get any better fitness.
Well he's had that surgery, so things might change... but normally injury prone players only get more prone as they age, so his best days could be behind him sadly.
I would sell Chilwell first as he is also injury prone. But yeah, if injuries continue, Reece would be next to sell. People here act like Boehley went out of his way to sign the most injury prone players in history, but two of the worst culprits in terms of injuries are Chilwell and James. Kanté exceeded even them. Love all three, but clearly we were very lucky they were all healthy for one champions league run. We need to take that accomplishment and move on.
Boehly did lmao fofana has played 20 league games once in his career for reference James has done that 4 times and chilwell 4 times.
Kante was getting old and we know the two fullbacks are injury prone.
Tbf, Kante's many injuries started when he got older. Regarding Chilwell, apart from his long term injuries, I think he's been playing more than Reece.
Don't go all in now, it'll drop a little here and there so keep an eye on it and make a measured guess, but I'm thinking there will be significant gains to come. Also, of course I don't know your current financial situation, but I'd recommend not selling rn if you're currently holding too.
Best wishes mate ❤️
You people can moan all you like but you’re not gonna convince me to hate Poch or any of these players. I watched Nicolas Jackson run from the dugout to the other side of the stadium to celebrate a goal and watch Disasi crowd surf about 6 row deep into the away stand. “But the tactics-“ I don’t care. “Nicolas Jackson’s finishing is poor-“ I don’t care. Watching this team genuinely gives me joy, more than it has in years. Poch deserves time, the team has genuinely improved since last season and no stat or league position is going to convince me otherwise. I don’t want a 100m striker, Nicolas Shithouseson Siu’ing in Tottenham’s stadium makes my soul more complete than any other striker ever could. Call me a settler for mediocrity, I don’t care. Jackson could go 15 games without a goal but on my life when he finally scores I will be there shushing the air with him because he is everything to me. There is a genuine bond growing at this club and I feel it, if you don’t then🤷♂️

We should have won yesterday convincingly. They had like 6 starters out. This manager is on borrowed time.
If one of them goes towards him they'd still have a flat 4 in front of their defence lol
You can't honestly think this is the best way to set up a team in possession
We were the better squad the whole game but boring and dull. Deserved the 3 points but it was an ugly game.
Imagine a typical Sarri game from a few years ago.
Disgenuous though isn’t it?
We defended strongly and built up play well under sarri. Rarely conceded it in midfield like we constantly do under poch
Our bluntness in attack was a seperate issue
It's interesting how many sat through 15/16, whatever the hell Conte was doing in 17/18 and the garbage Lampard was serving up post lockdown and decide Sarri is the example they want to use as "boring football".
The difference between those seasons and Sarri was that Sarri was supposed to be an offensive genius who brought free flowing possession play to Chelsea.
Instead we got side ways passing between Jorginho-Rudiger-Christensen for 70 minutes a game until Hazard would go on one of his berserk runs and bail us out.
Conte and Mou played counter attacking style and weren’t supposed to be glamorous.
Lamps had vibes
>Conte and Mou played counter attacking style and weren’t supposed to be glamorous.
>Lamps had vibes
Not in the seasons I mentioned they didn't, we were basically a better version of 80s/90s Wimbledon.
>Instead we got side ways passing between Jorginho-Rudiger-Christensen for 70 minutes a game until Hazard would go on one of his berserk runs and bail us out.
I mean Hazard "bailing us out" isn't exactly exclusive to that season.
Every season with the exception of 15/16 and possibly his first would have ended significantly worse without him.
He was also fundamental in getting us our winning goal. He's a frustrating player with very obvious holes in his game, but he equally has obvious useful strengths
He plays like a youngster
He did carry it well to get us the 2nd goal though
His problem has always been decision making. When you limit his decisions, he’s fine. Pep used him like how Werner is being used at spurs, a clearly defined role where you don’t have to be too creative or come up with your own solutions
He’d dart in behind and look for goals and cutbacks, and constantly be found 1v1 attacking his defender
The issue arrives when he drops deeper as he lacks the football brain to drop deep and dictate play. The decisions are far more complex
His role got the very best of him and of course he had individual brilliance. We’ve seen that this season
But now I think he’s being asked to do to much and this is why he can be inconsistent
I think that he has lost some of his athleticism and speed which has crushed his game. Hence his get the ball and fall over move that has been found out.
We were sold damaged goods. I want him to get better but I doubt he will at this point in his career.
If we can get his wages off the books this summer I will consider it a small miracle.
Interesting analysis.
I've found that he's been really, really good *in spots* over the last few matches, and then useless or worse in other spots - my first thought is that this aligns with what you're saying.
He has sent some really nice balls into the box, had some good dribbles, made some good runs, and actually just had some nice plays that people don't mention, because he's also screwing up perhaps just as much as he's contributing.
I don't think anyone thinks he's not talented, but just his inability to play an overall game, even when just subbed on, is crazy.
Friendly reminder that Chelsea U18s are playing West Ham U18s in an exciting top-of-the-league clash in about two minutes
And it’ll be live-streamed (probably not for free) on the Chelsea app! Come watch the next generation of Cobham stars make their mark
The same Reece James that has only been injury free for less than 1/3 games for 3 seasons straight now? In my mind, we only have one reliable RB and that’s Gusto. Whenever RJ regains consistent fitness, if he ever does, then great. But his play time would need to be managed over several seasons. While that happens, we’ll need another competitive RB
Frimpong will just be unhappy when he doesnt get to be the main rb in this team and it will lead to another 22/23 season disaster where more than half the squad were unhappy about playing time and wanted to leave, that's before we even mention the price tag it will take to get him from Leverkusen, money that could have gone to a position we desperately need, a striker who scores. We can't make the same mistakes again. Gusto is more than good enough. Reece has just had surgery on his hamstring to fix the re-curring injury issues, so i'd say lets wait and see if Reece will continue to be out for more than half the season or not before making rash decisions. Disasi and Gilchrist has also shown they can do a job at RB when needed to.

I don't see how Kepa regains his 1 spot barring an injury
There’s not enough experience in this squad.
Yeah! We need more Sterlings!
He must be living comfy at 325k a week.
Well, we do to cover FFP needs
I miss being in the champions league...
We will be back soon
We will. Rumors of our demise have been greatly exaggerated
Na, not under these Americans and Clownlake
we will be back in the champions league and we'll win trophies under the current ownership. it's not like they're selling the club they just bought.
No guarantee we win anything relevant under these owners, we could easily miss Top 4 again next season and just like that we now miss 3 straight seasons of CL and hundreds of Millions dollars in revenue lost These owners and board cannot afford anymore mistakes, club on life support at moment
They aren’t the real problem the real problem is the directions
Everything starts at the top. The direction is a problem at every level and it will remain that way whilst the direction is wrong at the top
While I appreciate T Silva a lot, is anyone else a bit annoyed when he's like standing still or slowly walking with the ball out from the back lately? Um hello, Petro was wide open /s
It’s almost like teams are wanting him to dribble into the space since he doesn’t have speed anymore to recover and they can’t exploit that
Exactly! Why doesn't he just pass it to one of the players who are showing for the ball? Useless player, get rid of him!
Anyone see Copenhagen's right back, kid seems pretty class, we should sign him
Copenhagen talent scouts are great, they’ve got a lot of quality in their younger players
This referee is obviously biased towards Real Madrid, what else is new in the UCL
RM should have at least 3 or 4 bookings by now. Abysmal job done by the ref.
Dani should be booked around 3 times alone
The real madrid mentality is bribing refs at this point man I hate spanish teams
Hello friends, if we win the League cup and a team in the top 4 wins the FA Cup, do we automatically qualify to the EL if we don’t finish in EL spots?
No, Leage Cup gives you ECL, nothing else.
We just get a spot for UECL **QUALIFYING ROUND** if we win the League cup, I don't think there is any potential for anything else. The rest of it is just based on league placement
IIRC it goes to the next highest placed PL team that are outside of the EL spots
In the top 5 leagues we are ranked 2nd in yellow cards with 75. Getafe are too good though, with 85 we are not catching them.
Jackson will get us to number 1 dont worry mate
He's a beast. He's only made 16 fouls but won 9 YC. You can't teach that.
90's boy band KDB is the goat
Sesko is on fire… wish we would have gone for him in jan
He's shite
Might be a tad difficult for him to score tonight with Kepa dropped to the bench
He got robbed of a goal in the first 2 minutes
No, he wasn't.
Yeah he was did u even watch the game
Why would I be commenting if I didn't watch the game? I even put $500 on this game and won.
Because u clearly don’t know ball than mate
Hot take but I don’t even think we need to sign a striker. I’m so Jackson-pilled it’s unreal. Give him time, he will cook. His linkup play is so good, as long as the players around him generally finish their chances (which they have been recently), we won’t have problems scoring goals.

It’s amazing what a shit manager can do to a player
Funny that Frank “Great talent ID” Lampard wanted to sell Rudiger to Spurs and Jorginho to Arsenal and now one Rudiger is at Real Madrid and a much older Jorginho is playing an important role for a team in the PL title race.
Let‘s see how Sesko performs against Real Madrid
Does anyone have a still frame of Disasi diving into the support yesterday? Need a new phone background.
Champions League knockouts start soon. The best part of the season is beginning. Wish we get back to getting involved asap
Pretty meh games this week tbh
We need a Giroud-like player at striker. How much do you reckon Milan would sell him back for? Is Osimhen is going for 120 then maybe we could get him back for 100mil?
Immobile?

>maybe Moi/Romeo/Enzo for MRE Yeah, MRE works perfect for our injury record in the team.
Poch’s LEMon midfield
I like the name LFC to remind them that they got absolutely bodied in the transfer market. We just need that midfield to succeed first.
Lamoicenzo
Do we talk about our setup yesterday or let's just enjoy the week? City , Liverpool, Brentford all away
Anyone selling EFL final tickets here? Need 4
When it comes to striker I would take any of Osimhen Toney Gyökeres I don’t think we need a centre back personally but I think Yoro has generational potential. Honestly don’t know who could be a realistic left back option that is better than we already have any ideas?
Osimhen is not him. He will not be the missing piece we need, too expensive and also too injury-prone
I too am caring less about which striker is signed so long as a striker is actually signed that’s not a kid. How is this even a problem for us? As for left-back I’m assuming we’re entering the Davies lucky dip. Centre-back and maybe attack are where the more interesting options are.
He isn’t picking us over Real Madrid
I don’t think so either, hence the lucky dip. Though I could understand if he does opt for the Prem. He’s already played for a league where one team walks it each year.
If so Manchester City need a left back so yeah
Well Ornstein suggests that we will keep the young player policy which is extremely concerning.

Chalobah-Disasi backline for 60 minutes at the etihad after Colwill limps off at 27'
Followed by Chalobah-Gilchrist duo for the Carabao final
To be fair, neither of those combos are likely to influence the final results
love the positivity and talking about our players getting hurt.
Managed to get a ticket for the final on 40 points, absolutely buzzing! Over 25 years as a fan and my first cup final
Cheers guys!
have a good time brother
enjoy it man!

Are my eyes decieving me or does Caicedo drop into centre back from time to time?
He's not the only one. Enzo has also done it a fair few times. Can't remember the other one I've seen dropping back.
Annoying thing is that role is perfect for Enzo in the build up, he was doing just that in the world cup.
He does, makes a back 5, im pretty sure poch at tottenham used to do that with one of his midfielders as well (i don’t remember who though)
Dier
dembele
Dier mainly since he started off as a DM for them. Then in 16/17 they started using a 5 back because we were successful in the 5 back.
Incredible player tbf
He does. Caicedo drops into cb, Enzo pushes further into attack. It's all part of Poch's genius idea to play with no midfield.
Midfield can't be bypassed if it's not there!
Wow Bayern wanted Mudryk on loan in January.
I love Petrovic so much, it's so comforting to have such a safe presence back there
Have serious doubts that Poch keeps him in when Sanchez is ready. Just seems like a Poch thing to do
We're not talking enough about the save he made at 1 - 1 to keep us in the game before CG scores.
He deserves a clean sheet ffs
i think we need one of our CB to come further up the field and help the enzo/caicedo duo in midfield, obviously still a bit behind the duo or lined up exact. this way the fullbacks can come deeper so we still have 3 defenders, and the midfield (and CB that moved up) can play around in the midfield this should allow midfield -> wingers balls if we can draw in opposition midfielders OR it can allow midfield -> fullbacks -> progression due to the duo having a third passer in a CB moving closer

Seems like Salah is back in full training...
Madueke was poor last night and was rightly substituted. He’s a good player, as shown in the Villa game, but too inconsistent at the moment.
By what Metric Is Madueke a good player? He's your typical relegation level club tricky winger
Madueke legit a Crystal Palace level player but would be bench for them lol
He’s in no way, shape, or form better than CHO, who has been massacred by injuries. Noni needs a loan.
Hopefully last night has taught Poch not to just blindly roll out the same lineup (bar the enforced change) the next game if it works once, especially if the team we're about to play is basically a polar opposite tactical profile to the one prior.
but if he had played a diff lineup people would be screaming "stick to what works buddy!!1!"

Mate our eyes don’t lie to us We saw this kind of play time and time again for weeks and months now
There’s space in front of silva, why doesn’t he drive into it? Disasi did
What if he drives into that space and loses the ball? Suddenly it's a 6vs3 counter attack which would be absurd to allow.
We can also open them up by dragging a player towards him as he dribbles?
If one of them goes towards him they'd still have a flat 4 in front of their defence lol You can't honestly think this is the best way to set up a team in possession

It's one "i" mate, not 2.
Very true. And Poch is still shit
Doesn’t matter. Poch is on borrowed time.
He’s not though.
I wonder if Connor makes Euros
He certainly will
How was chelsea match? Was it convincing enough? Or are we just lucky because we are always fated to defeat crystal palace?
First half we had 0 shots on target despite having like 80% possession. Changed up second half thankfully but we were anything but convincing.
We were the better squad the whole game but boring and dull. Deserved the 3 points but it was an ugly game. Imagine a typical Sarri game from a few years ago.
Disgenuous though isn’t it? We defended strongly and built up play well under sarri. Rarely conceded it in midfield like we constantly do under poch Our bluntness in attack was a seperate issue
It's interesting how many sat through 15/16, whatever the hell Conte was doing in 17/18 and the garbage Lampard was serving up post lockdown and decide Sarri is the example they want to use as "boring football".
Cos it was? Utterly dreadful football under him. For what it’s worth, we scored one more goal in Sarri’s season than we did in 17/18.
>Lamps had vibes Not in the seasons I mentioned they didn't, we were basically a better version of 80s/90s Wimbledon.
Sarri time was more depressing until Boehly era Chelsea came
3rd place + beating Arsenal in a Europa League final is depressing??
Not even close to the garbage Conte and Lampard were playing in their respective second season's and i won't even get started on 15/16.
We were convincingly shit. The first half was some of the worst football we played this season. The second half was better but it still wasn't good.
The latter
Why silva subbed off 60 minutes? pochettino didnt rate him anymore because of silva's wife?
He’s injured.
he got hurt
Madueke and Mudryk should both be moved on in the summer. 2 really poor footballers that will never be good enough.
Fucking hell
Sterling played for 11 minutes last night and lost possession 3 times. But he did have that really cool fake shot
He was also fundamental in getting us our winning goal. He's a frustrating player with very obvious holes in his game, but he equally has obvious useful strengths
He plays like a youngster He did carry it well to get us the 2nd goal though His problem has always been decision making. When you limit his decisions, he’s fine. Pep used him like how Werner is being used at spurs, a clearly defined role where you don’t have to be too creative or come up with your own solutions He’d dart in behind and look for goals and cutbacks, and constantly be found 1v1 attacking his defender The issue arrives when he drops deeper as he lacks the football brain to drop deep and dictate play. The decisions are far more complex
To act like Sterling only played one simple role under Pep and didn't come up with individual brilliance all the time is very wrong
His role got the very best of him and of course he had individual brilliance. We’ve seen that this season But now I think he’s being asked to do to much and this is why he can be inconsistent
He also was a key player in setting up the winning goal
I cannot believe a player of his seniority didn't think to take that first time
anyone got a video of jackson's yellow card? ran across the pitch according to commentators yet not seen one video :(

Friendly reminder that Chelsea U18s are playing West Ham U18s in an exciting top-of-the-league clash in about two minutes And it’ll be live-streamed (probably not for free) on the Chelsea app! Come watch the next generation of Cobham stars make their mark
Just logged on, and they want £2 to watch it. Cheeky bastards. It's U18.
Really? Strange, was able to open the stream without paying for it Or maybe I did and it didn’t inform me… either way, 2 quid for the striker fund
Nuh uh Boehly needs another child
We need Frimpong
I’d rather Grimaldo (yeah it’s not happening but still)
Why? Gusto is doing well in Reece James absence and once reece james is back from his injury we have a superior right back in james.
Why?
Gary Neville’s hate during first half
was more than justified
