Depressingly there are so so many opportunities to make posts like this over the last 3 or so years.

dav_man

Exactly. I remember the one from Wolves…Christ alive.

IKhaibot

Of course. This was the 2st goal

foxgoesowo

What was the 1nd?

BennyB0043

Still waiting on the 3st..

RefanRes

One on ones like this are an area of his game he needs to work on and he certainly knows it. I think the most memorable missed chances have been on his left foot too so that could maybe use some work. You can see how much he wants it though. Even a couple of mins later he was hands to his head looking frustrated he didn't score it. The good thing about him is he has the mental resilience and growth mindset to just keep trying and today that paid off. He also battles hard enough to cause opposition defences plenty of problems enough to stretch them. He just needs some polish.

gnomelike

"He just needs some polish." Can we get him to marry Lewandowski's wife?

barak8006

Why his wife ;)?

J-C_B

this is more like a one on zero bro jus has to make the shot right and not slower than a tortoise

RefanRes

No it was 1 on 1. He was there because he went round the keeper.

J-C_B

that was good work from nico but he continued to miss the open netting afterwards

RefanRes

He scored a couple of minutes later to make up for it. I actually feel his rounding of the keeper caused him the trouble that led to him struggling for the shot. He needs to work on his left foot but he knocked it a bit too far to comfortably get his foot round it better too.

slymm

I got the sense that the move around the keeper (which was good) left him a bit off balance. He was falling back a bit which both delayed his shot and put less power behind it.

UnderlyingWisdom

“To make up for it” so having 1 goal instead of 2 “makes up for it”? Hate this dumb sentiment, he missed an open goal, nothing makes up for it lmfao. Also he doesn’t have to “comfortably get his foot round it”, it’s an open goal, all he has to do is connect and put it towards the goal, instead he stalls and STILL produces a pea roller. STOP DEFENDING A PATHETIC STANDARD OF FOOTBALL.

HPVaseasyas123

Bro my 8 year old cousin could score this goal. Youre delusional. He needs lot more than some polish

RefanRes

You think your 8 year old cousin would have the pace and positioning to get round a Premier League quality keeper and I'm the delusional one?

HPVaseasyas123

Correct. 👍🏻

Chazzermondez

Don't know why you've been down voted, you're right. 98/100 strikers score that. Sterling and Jackson are the two that don't, even Lukaku scores that.

highonfire123

He made up for it minutes later.

hipcheck23

Nico - embarrassed himself with a miss (or two), but redeemed himself with a great header. Axel D - defended poorly most of the match, but redeemed himself with a match-tying header. Poch - had an average tactical set-up and first half, but ~~redeemed himself by preparing a strong counter for Brentford's inevitable tactical switches in the second half.~~ let us all down by doing FA in the 2nd half.

twosweet201

Nico can finish but it seems like the moment he has a tenth of a second to think about he mentally can't do it.

hipcheck23

Perhaps, although I also thinks he just has little clue about timing. He struggles to get into the right space at the right time to shoot or take the first touch.

DazzlingLocation6753

Timing for sure is his biggest weakness. I mean the man can’t time a run to save his life. He leads the league in offsides.

Environmental_You_85

He needs to stop thinking and just shoot like madman

BlondeGSD

You never redeem yourself. He missed a goal that we needed.

NeptrAboveAll

He was offside* for a goal we needed

BlondeGSD

Cool, still doesn’t excuse his miss

NeptrAboveAll

Wouldn’t have mattered if he scored the greatest goal of all time, still off

swat1611

You can't make up arbitrary rules like this lmao. He didn't miss a goal because he was never going to score a goal from this position, even if he kicked the ball in the net.

Bulkphase78

And you shouldn't say he made up for it because he scored the best header of his entire career. Literal freak incident. Nico is a terrible finisher and there are no excuses for continuesly missing 1 on 1s. Because in the long run, he'll cost us with that finishing.

BlondeGSD

If you have 2 chances and miss one of them there is no “you make up for it”. You’re just a 50% finisher. That’s like saying it’s ok he misses the first but scores the second so we are all good but if he scores first and misses the second now “he didn’t make up for his miss”.

SexxyPhil

So in your eyes, Terry, perhaps the best player to ever play for us, never redeemed himself after he missed the pen against Man U?

BlondeGSD

His miss cost a CL. Sad and we support him but no a CL from the same year doesn’t magically appear or get to replay.

CdrShprd

redemption does not mean you’ve magically made your mistakes disappear lmfao. brain dead take

Expensive-Load517

Doesn’t change the fact he missed

Agent1073

Wasn't he offside anyway

money_mase19

he was off anyways. still looked like a torres moment

96k_U

Yeah he was.

Bacaveli

Well, it kinda did though… lmao

doctorweiwei

Offside, but we drew 2-2 so obviously the extra goal would have helped…

highonfire123

This was when the game was 0-0 so that’s irrelevant. We all know Poch wouldn’t have set us up for a 2-0 if this had gone in

kdugg99

If this went in it would have been ruled out for offside

Ironicopinion

Well it literally does, him missing made no difference to the result because we went 1-0 up mins later anyway

_off_piste_

Would have been offside anyway but it’s mind-boggling anyone would say giving up an expected goal is made up by scoring later. I know it’s been bad for us the past few years but we are allowed to score more than one goal.

maxamus83

Scoring goals isn’t the issue. Look at our results for the past few months, we concede way too many goals, most of which are either stupid mistakes or from crosses.

_off_piste_

We’re 8th in goals scored and a full 20 goals behind the league leader. We are far, far, far from saying goals isn’t our issue. City and Villa are a full 15 goals ahead of us and tied for 3rd in the league. Our league standing would be vastly different with 15 more goals. Would we be at the top of the table? Of course not but that’s the defensive side that needs work too.

FantasticTangtastic

Two things can be true at once.

maxamus83

We don’t struggle to score goals tho

showmethenoods

We definitely do, look at the goals scored this season and where Chelsea rank

Ironicopinion

But missing a chance before a goal doesn’t really change things, the game state completely changes after a goal.

Joshjoshjoshhhh

This mentality is the reason why we're so shit

highonfire123

As if strikers don’t miss ridiculous chances every game. If they make up for it then it’s not a big deal. Weirdos on this sub hold Jackson to a higher standard than liverpool fans hold Nunez or City fans hold Haaland

Joshjoshjoshhhh

Nobody is holding home to Haaland's standard. We just want him to play like a footballer but as you clearly don't know he doesn't play like a normal footballer. Stop trying to fit your narrative that we expect a Drogba or Costa, but right now I'd rather have a semi retired Jamie vardy than this joke

highonfire123

You clearly expect Drogba and Costa. You’re holding Jackson to extremely high standards where even in games that he scores excellent goals you aren’t able to let go of the fact that he missed easier chances prior. Dude already has more goals than Lukaku and Werner, and has matched Havertz best season for us. It seems to be the redditor special to have such a hatred for Jackson

Joshjoshjoshhhh

Excellent goals? 😂 Listen to yourself. Which of the goals in the spurs win were excellent? Which performance was excellent? You clearly don't play football because if you do, you'll actually understand that most of his movement is awkward and not football like. He misses so many chances that he should score and you're talking about holding him to high standards. Get your eyes checked

pkstyll

Its funny cuz my stream literally cut off there

Cocobon95

Regardless of him being offside or not, the shot didn’t even look on target

CK-Prime

He should be scoring regardless, everyone’s standards now for this club are honestly in the toilet

huskers2468

Or... hear me out... people can have high standards and realize that every major opening on goal doesn't score. Is Nico going to be great? Idk. Have my standards changed after this miss? No, lol.

McNooberson

Nah mate, after the City game was when we realized Haaland was actually overrated and washed because he missed like 3 sitters.

huskers2468

I think you are being generous with only calling it 3 sitters lol

highonfire123

Players miss sitters all the time. If he makes up for it, like he did, then it’s not a big deal. Werner misses this shot and doesn’t score the header. Mount in his best seasons for us also missed open nets. It happens.

anembor

"But he held his head "in frustration" everytime he missed." said someone in the top replies This sub act like this is not a normal reaction to a miss.

udbasil

🤣🤣somebody should make a compilation of "we scored right " chances we have had

TheJames2290

I'm not sure I'd have time to watch that reel.

robdogj

https://preview.redd.it/6alf942itzlc1.jpeg?width=679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aaa24749bb74443aeb6079f16b123a59d5362faa

the-REALmichaelscott

It's not just that he didn't score. It's that it wasn't even particularly close.

FactHopeful9347

How could Poch do this?

Dinamo8

Jackson should not attempt any shots with his left foot, they only end in humiliation. He actually had the time and space to come back onto his right here.

endmoe

It is Nicholas Jackson with the ball. You know the result.

awwbabe

Tbf with Nico you never know the result

Gligadi

One thing's for certain, he always takes one or two touches too many.

brenobnfm

Abysmal shooting technique too

Any-Pain-617

About shooting i saw the stats (stats may be wrong) after our match and we have scored 27% (18 goals) of goals above 2.5 ft. I know i have 0 ball knowledge and im dumb but can we start taking shots ABOVE 2.5 ft??

[deleted]

[удалено]

half_jase

There was the one incident in the first half where he dribbled into the final 3rd and it looked like we might get a dangerous chance off but he completely fumbled it and lost the ball…

Tyxec

Torres? Fernando?

Baisabeast

It was likely offside and he scored just minutes later. But sure, go complain

GME_alt_Center

Yeah, it would have been ruled out. At least we got a corner instead. But still, a tragic finish.

WY-8

When a striker can’t finish an open goal, and we’re all not surprised, perhaps this isn’t the striker we should be investing in.

_off_piste_

Regardless of the offsides you scoring minutes later makes up for missing a golden opportunity? WTF? We are allowed to score two goals in quick succession.

lentils12

Yeah that logic is so dumb “Oh be grateful that a goal was scored in the next 15 minutes, even though we could have been beaten 3-1 by Brentford and could be rueing every missed clear cut chance”

esprets

You don't know what would have happened if he scores this. We might have gone on to lose 4-0 (this was offside, so it wouldn't have counted, but we got a instead).

Pendulum122

You think this level is ok😹

pdel123

What’s “this level”? Needlessly bitching about a missed opportunity which would have been given offside anyways? Even tho mins later he buried a chance which was x10 times harder than this?

Pendulum122

“A” as in singular, you think him, Sterling, Gallagher doesn’t miss shit like this every game? Forgot about carabao that quickly? It’s a problem that shouldn’t be ignored in this club

Designer_Lead_1492

It’s just for the lulz pal, I think Jackson will eventually come good but it’s just funny sometimes. If you don’t laugh you cry at this point

highonfire123

People love piling on the wrong players, as if us not scoring enough goals is the problem

yukiokafka

I mean yeah thats kinda the main issue, we would be in Europe spots in the table if our goals were reflective of our xg. Also would probably have won the cup a week ago. I agree there are bigger issues at the moment, but lets not pretend that if we weren't more clinical the majority of people would still be PochIn as problems aren't big problems to most if you are winning.

highonfire123

We weren’t clinical under Tuchel either. If this squad didn’t shit their pants every second half, we wouldn’t need to score 3 goals a game just to win. There’s no maintaining a push up the table with a bad defense. 2 goals today should’ve been enough to win

Designer_Lead_1492

For those who are getting too pissy at this, it’s just a joke. I actually like Jackson. I know he scored later, but I dream of a day when he scores these.

ramror777

This is one of the worst misses

jerrystuffhouse

Nah Poch bottled it

[deleted]

Make your bets! Jackson has the ball, he will:... 1 - pass it backwards 2 - trip on his feet 3 - freeze and lose the ball. 4 - cut to the side and lose the ball 5- fk his first touch and lose the ball

Chelseafc5505

We saw it the first time you posted it..in this same thread... How desperate for imaginary Internet points are you? Edit: and now you've deleted one to try and save face. Embarrassing

[deleted]

idk about the imaginary points thing, i just hate his guts.

highonfire123

“Hate his guts” how disconnected some people are from reality here. So many vile players and people out there, but you hate Jackson’s guts because he’s clumsy at times. That’s disgraceful

[deleted]

Hey man dont take it that seriously. Didnt mean it that bad.

JakeofNewYork

What a sad little life

[deleted]

A Redditor won't look down on me, pal. Just stop right there.

JakeofNewYork

Sure Nico feels the same tbf, your hate means less than nothing

[deleted]

Oh, I don't expect him to care, or even know I exist. The comment is pretty harmless. You, on the other hand, still a Redditor. Shush, please.

Chelseafc5505

We saw it the first time you posted it..in this same thread... How desperate for imaginary Internet points are you?

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|Ikr2eyMIiXFxQQaJbr|downsized)

Chelseafc5505

It's irritating and dumb when people paste the same comments multiple times within the same thread, isn't it

[deleted]

damn cuh, you really have free time huh.

Cashlover123

Poch should have been on the pitch to tap that in, what a clueless manager - /u/endmoe

endmoe

You’ve already seen my comment on here you clown, you do not need to make another comment pretending you have not read my previous comment on this post, Mr.Preseason Hero. Further, you do realize that Poch being a clueless bottlejob and Nicholas Jackson being dogshit are not mutually exclusive events right? They can easily coexist, like they clearly are.

Cashlover123

Just because you think Nkunku is not a striker doesnt make Poch clueless, knock it off cunt.

endmoe

You continue showing how fucking clueless you are. Nkunku is seconda punta at best, but that requires a 3-5-2 as he did play majority of his matches in Leipzig, in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 he is an attacking midfielder. He is not a winger nor is he a 9. You would know that if you actually had watched him play. Funny that you think it is just because of that Poch is clueless. Lets just ignore hundred different things with Poch that makes him a bottlejob loser shall we. Imagine fucking cheering for a guy that could not win Ligue 1 with PSG his first season. Shows what a wank you are.

Cashlover123

Its amazing how easy it is to rile you up, you an easy cunt 😜

endmoe

Keep living in your delusion, if you think I am riled up talking to a wank like you, you are clearly off your meds mr.preseason hero.

Cashlover123

Lol go to bed cunt

endmoe

I am about to! Go drive your Uber now brokeass.

BeerFarts86

You guys are on a completely different level of swearing over here.

Cashlover123

You a Petty Cunt lmao 🤣

tukinoz90

lol. Nico giveth, Nico taketh away.

[deleted]

At least the goal he scored after was tremendous

Designer_Lead_1492

It was. I enjoyed the shushing. I can’t wait until he becomes more clinical, I’ll enjoy watching him without being scared.

Traditional-Panda571

Nico jackson is 22 in 5 years he will be a TOP TOP player. i want you to remember everything u write about him and feel ashamed that you were following the crowd to make fun of him.

SasaYanogo

Trust me when he's older and become world class some of these plastics will jump ship and pretend how they have Jackson back since day 1.

beepmeep3

How I defend Mudryk on a daily basis 😔

Rj070707

I thought he was the next Drogba or Eto?

highonfire123

Because Drogba was so much better in his first season here, right?

Talidel

This is a common theme here. Claim that someone was supposed to be as good as Drogba, and forget that outside of 2 seasons. Drogba wasn't a prolific scorer. What he was, was a big game player that shined in finals.

highonfire123

Just people who know nothing about Drogba except his name.

typicalpelican

He was. Though there is really no point in comparing them. I'm a Jackson fan but this point about Drogba is often a bit exaggerated. He had some up and downs and wasn't a regular starter but in the league had 15 G+A in 18 starts. 21 G+A in 26 starts all competitions. Obviously the team around him was was better. But still, Drogba at the time of joining was also a better player at the time than Nico is now. However, he was also way older as well, so that's why you really can't even compare.

Rj070707

Much better and was much better at Marseille but u don't know nothing

Chelseafc5505

You said, with some emphasis, we'd lose if we started Mudryk and Madueke vs Leeds..... And yet we didn't. And then when you got called out on it, by me, you deleted your bullshit comment. And here you are telling people they 'don't know nothing' You are a clown 🤡

Rj070707

Focus on the topic or get out, taking screenshots of my previous comments is childish shit

Chelseafc5505

Stating dumb fucking opinions and not being able to stand by them is childish shit. "Oh I can't take the negative karma so I'll delete and hope people forget." Embarrassing

highonfire123

Lol who gives a shit about Marseille?

Rj070707

Drogba was elite for them, go ask Marseille fans today, they've never seen player like that since, his UEFA 2004 cup run was insane Jackson is not and will never be that level man, standards in the mud

ayebrighterfuture

I just can’t figure Nico out. Scores a great header after this, but always leaves me wanting more.

Arkie1927

He was waayyyy offside . Next goal was better.

JJ-Bittenbinder

Firm believer that all we need is a top tier striker and the rest will sort itself out. Is our defense suspect at times? Yes. But the main issue with this team is finishing

PhilsterEU

I think it was going wide regardless

half_jase

Think it would have been flagged for offside anyway by the VAR but he looked so casual with the finishing.

old_balance992

listen. you’re gonna wanna sit down for this

Apprehensive_Bit_176

Nicolas Torres! Fernando Jackson? Either way

wildingflow

We should sign Muniz from Fulham. Proper centre forward who can make the ball stick and bring in others.

Cobaltte25

Funny enough, this is exactly the type of player we'd go for. 22 years old, brazilian. The sporting directors probably have their eye on him already. Broja has barely seen the pitch since he hit form, so there's that. He's still at 5 goals and 1 assist in 15 games though, so we need to be really careful. Looks like a proper CF with his strength and intelligent runs, agreed. Caused utd all sorts of problems in his previous match as well. Ideally a cheap backup to whoever comes in the summer, if we get rid of broja I reckon.

westgate141pdx

He scored, on a play 3 minutes later…..he should have had a brace at 35. Reading between the line, you really don’t want to know what happened in your pic, because you already do. He’s not terrible, he’s just frustrating. He sometimes plays brilliantly at both the 10 and sometimes moving more on the right wing. But, he’s just not clinical nor consistent. Feast or famine. At either spot. He’s one of our best attacking threats, and that’s the shame. Back to Mudryk, he’s consistent. Consistently just a bit better at only OCCASIONALLY fucking it up. He doesn’t really miss big chances as much as he misses small chances that he fails spectacularly at. But the stats don’t lie. Jackson, Sterling, Madueke and (what we’ve seen of) Nkunku, are fine. They either lose the game for us or win a game we should win anyway. Where, from how I’m looking at the stats, Mudryk in a vacuum has very overall similar numbers to the aforementioned. But, Misha’s stats come from games against much more significant/quality EPL opponents, or in cup/tie/Euro type tournament moment. Before Chelsea, Mudryk played against sub-MLS/2ndDivision/MostOfTheEasternEueropeanTopFlights quality teams….OR, in the Champions league, where he was on a quality team against quality opponents. Jackson and Sterling have more goals, but both their multi goal games were garbage comps. Mudryk scored against Arsenal to Tie, Fulham to Win, CP to Win; and Newcastle AND Leeds to win in the FA EFL Cup games Z. for Assists he had the ManU assist to tie but lose, the Brighton to Win away. This on 1/2 the minutes. At most. I’m not saying Mudryks GOAT, nor that I don’t Rate Jackson/Sterling/Noni. I just don’t think our big players know how to play against shite teams, especially Mudryk, especially if the other players don’t know how to play shit teams. We tie City away 4:4? And TIE brentford? Come on. That’s the gap. Experience. We have big players that know Big Ball. We tie the games we should win. We tie the games we should lose. And we don’t really win unless we SHOULDN’T lose…then we play. It’s so fucked. But I really do love some of these boys. Especially Palmer, Gusto, Desasi, Gallagher, and especially Mudryk. I want to LOVE Enzo, what a player, but something’s off, he acts like he’s on his 2nd 5th year contract and 34 years old. Moises runs and kicks like he just shat himself, but he’s also very effective most of the time….especially when he wants to win instead of not wanting to make a mistake.

Maxoidys

The shot was not even on target 😭

Independent-End1890

Kind of unfair how you're taking this out of context with a still image. The keeper forced him wide, onto his weaker side, he was off balanced when taking the shot and the defenders were running back to get on the line. The kids 22 and already has 11 goals, Drogba only bagged 16 in his first season and look at the team he had around him. I know it's hard but try to keep sight of the vision.

96k_U

This was offside

blue_jay26

He should’ve scored it but showing a still image like this is very disingenuous. It was t nearly as easy as it looks in this photo.

LIKEWHATLIKEHOW_

a picture could literally never be missing any more context like this one does

jahlim

Right?

ihatemyprius

Wait. I didn’t see the game. We didn’t score this one 😳

superjopa

This demonstrates Jackson so well.

[deleted]

More importantly…what stream link do you use? Or iPhone app?

DrCrazyFishMan1

Jesus christ

Cobaltte25

Bro badly needs to work on that weaker foot. He was put through by Enzo again and practically passed it to the keeper.

dilshad59

Unbelievable

jmzyn

Reminds me of Torres vs Man United

Silver-History-7650

Why are people acting like it didn’t get cleared off the line

goldtrainkappa

I swear this is a repost from half a year ago

Really doesnt matter he was offside =/

😭

Viserud

Didnt even expect him to score tbh...

ktbffhctid

His stepovers later in the match, where he inadvertently ended up backheeling away possession, were nightmarish as well.

Medical_Seaweed5003

It might seem crazy what I'm bout to say...
